Women don't want jewelry or make up, they want to ride the California Zephyr between Chicago and Emeryville for over 2000 miles and 50 hours. Give her a good birthday present this year

While pulling the Eastbound California Zephyr through Donner Pass, Amtrak F40PHs 249, 305, and 243, assisted by Southern Pacific SD40T-2 8314, urge onwards as they confront the storm. The harsh winter weather serves as a reminder of when the snowbound City of San Francisco train got stuck for several days during one of the worst blizzards of the 20th century.

Next time you're on a train, write it down, Murder on the Orient Express is set on a train and it is considered one of the best works of English literature ever written and helped make Christie the second best selling author of all time. Just imagine your ride on the California Zephyr could be the next Murder on the Orient Express <3

It's the first day of Autumn and I'm currently on a train going through the southern Pennsylvania mountains headed to Washington 😁 My partner and I started this trip by spending a couple days in San Francisco and for the last four days have been on the Amtrak going across the country headed for New York city, which we'll be in later today. But the views have been absolutely insane.
The Redwoods on the west coast, going though Utah and Colorado and seeing the mountains, rivers and wildlife. Then going through Nebraska and Iowa seeing nothing but flat plains of corn and cows for miles. And then going back to huge tree covered mountains and rocky river beds through Pennsylvania and Maryland. Plus the weather pretty much through out the whole trip has been dark clouds and rain with little peaks of sunshine so needless to say the autumn vibes have been immaculate. 🛤️🌲🍁🌾🌿🍂⛰️🏞️🌳🌧️🍃

The train roars westbound, a silver arrow tipped of silver, then gold, then orange.
From green farms stretching as far as the eye can see, to to the steep mountains of the west, earthen tan and back to lush green
Snaking through tunnels and over bridges, an unparalleled view, the train always reflecting its surroundings.
Not for speed, like the yellow streak to the north, but a cruise ship for the west. Vista domes for unparalleled views
The times change, the route shortens, and the arrow is only tipped with gold. It struggles on, an anomaly, a remnant of a bygone era, until it too, is bygone.
The train roars westbound, a silver arrow tipped of red white and blue. The train changes, some of the views change, but one fact remains:
This train is the greatest and final word in travel. This train is the California Zephyr
