Henna not being back in any capacity in the second Mariposa movie gives me two impressions:

1). untapped potential for a 3rd movie where we get Henna reformation or some such.

2).

Mariposa: I wonder how Henna's doing out there.

Willa: ..... what if she's dead 😧

Mariposa: 😨

Honestly it's entirely possible that she IS dead; a lot of her control over the Skeezites hinged on the promise of invading Flutterfield, and we can see their patience wearing thin throughout the movie. It's possible her failure to follow through would be the final straw, and that her lights would only be able to carry her so far when her entire army is against her. I do like the potential for another sequel to tie up that loose end though, in no small part because "dramatic revenge declaration followed by offscreen death that's never mentioned" is just kind of anticlimactic. Even if it's been a decade and that ship has sailed at this point. We could've had it all. Two fairy trilogies. Also consider: The Skeezites don't seem to be a threat--or even present at all-- in Fairy Princess. They're not once brought up unless in past tense. Regellius brings up Flutterfield defeating them when that's not necessarily how it happens in the first movie(which she does point out but focuses more on the method than the outcome so it's still unclear). Yeah they succeed in driving them off, but if Mariposa's quest or the fact that they've been terrorizing the kingdom for centuries says anything, it's that there are probably way more hanging around than Henna's immediate army. I'm imagining a midquel where she manages to get the Skeezites to hold out for a little longer so she can get her Revenge Plan in, and Flutterfield deals with them for good.

#My biggest thing at the moment would just be that Mariposa specified that it never came down to a fight #so I'd have to consider a Non-Fighty way to do that. Big magic. #She does have the flutterflower so I guess traveling wouldn't be that much of a danger but that gift was framed as more for #sentimental value than for protection. #Bringing Marabella back to life restored flutterfield to its status quo but didn't get rid of the skeezites or anything. #And like yeah they have the thistleburst lights now so maybe transportation is no big deal #maybe the skeezites stopped hunting butterfly fairies when they realized they had some form of defense. #But they're such a non-presence it's still just weird. Walk with me here. #It's still been too long to bring the series back but. Mariposa 1.5 where we find out where Rayla and Rayna and Zinzie went #pieceofcake.txt #cakeasks #Was so deep in Henna Denial when I found out she wasn't going to be the villain in Fairy Princess that my mind just instinctively went #'Oh wow she's aged a lot since the 1st movie' #In my mind if she survives she could maybe eventually get a redemption but she wouldn't continue living in Flutterfield #cakeart #The dialogue for the image was heavily paraphrased but inmy defense my internet has been supreme dogwater lately #So I was working off memory at like 4 am

Catania/Mariposa

Stating the obvious but I hold in my heart that Fairy Princess is the Barbie spin on Romeo and Juliet. Confession when I first watched the movie I was wholeheartedly expecting them to dance together at the end(though obviously mattel wouldn't have painted it in a romantic light) as a callback to the earlier ball scene? With the whole ball setting it just felt like that was what they were building up to Imsorry. I was genuinely surprised at the time when it didn't happen but in hindsight that's probably more on me that the movie itself.

Carlos/Willa

Chewing on drywall eating gravel letting the earth consume me. They're a fun pair. They're opposites in a lot of ways, they bicker and drive each other up a wall at times but they do like and care about each other and work well as a duo when it comes down to it. They complement each other. Goofs.

Catania/Willa

Okay look I know I'm the only one who ships them but someone has to. Imo I think it gets overstated sometimes exactly how shy Catania is. She's introverted, she struggles with being away from immediate safety and (re. the crystal ball dance scene which I feel like is the biggest point towards her being shy)worries about standing out too much but she's also shown to be very outwardly friendly and enjoy parties and handle social situations well. I think what I'm getting at is that Willa has more immediately in common with her personality-wise than she does with the other two but they're still different enough that it would be interesting to me. They'd be a little silly. They'd get into shenannigins

Carlos/Mariposa

Not my favorite pair for either character but they're sweet, I like them, I don't mind them being endgame. As a sidenote it annoys me when people talk about how their relationship was forced but Specifically reference the first movie when their interactions are actually very easy to interpret as platonic in that one(like as in no more romantic than other Barbie/Male-Lead pairs that are commonly seen as friends i.e. Linden/Elina or Barbie/Leo), it's Fairy Princess that actually leans into the idea of a romance. If you're going to be a hater at least get it right

Mariposa/Willa

I should clarify that I'm graphing these all as Romantic pairs. I really love their friendship! lots! I think it's sweet how Willa looks out for Mariposa and tries to be supportive of her even if she doesn't always understand. Their interactions are cute! I just don't realllyyy care that much about the idea of them as a couple? Which feels hypocritical since they hit a few similar beats as other ships I do like but you know, much love to anyone who does ship them xoxo

Carlos/Catania

Despite not once directly interacting with each other I think they'd get along well! They have a lot in common. Love the idea of them as friends more than as a couple.

WWAUGH THANKSSO MUCH I miss them also. Woefully. Namoto and Sataka struggling to try and salvage what's left of their friendship for Ashley's sake, her being kept in the dark about it but nonetheless growing discontent with their alcoholism(/general flakiness but more the drinking). Thinking about how their relationship might've continued plodding along if Shinobu hadn't interfered, either until they blew up at each other in public or until Ashley finally has enough of them and, instead of being the anchor for their strained relationship, becomes part of that strain.

He's arguably her most prominent established relationship outside of The Main Character(listen the old lady doesn't even have a name) but also they have one onscreen interaction and hate each other. In MY defense yuo have to understand it'd be funny if she snapped him like a twig. I want to put them in a jar and watch them try to build ikea furniture together.

I'd mostly put the ot3 further to the left because Miumi seems to more actively like... actually get along with both of them. Not as big on it(romantically) as I used to be but hey they're cute.

Would it work out as a relationship in the long run if they hadn't tried to kill each other? Highly debatable. Fun to point at and go "hey wouldn't that be fucked up".
