2:00am Musing:
The Witch and The Girl
The witch found the girl sitting in a cabbage patch. Her small head, covered in a short thicket of scraggly brown curls, fit right in with the cabbage heads. The witch was there to grab some cabbage for a salad, but upon seeing the girl, she felt as though her salad could use some meat. So, she put on her widest smile and approached the young child.
"Hello there," she said, bending her knees a bit to peer down at the girl.
"Hi!" said the girl, giving her a smile that spread across her face like a sunrise. Her eyes were glistening with an innocence that assured the witch that the task of luring her would be an easy one.
"You're much too young to be out here by yourself. Why don't you come back with me to where you'll be safe?" asked the witch.
The girl clambered to her feet and looked up at the witch, tilting her head to the side, thinking.
"Okay!" she said happily a moment later.
After the witch had picked the head of cabbage that she had originally come for, the girl followed her back to her wooden cottage in the forest, skipping as she went. Even as they made their way through the muddy bog, the girl maintained her cheerful energy. She giggled as the mud squelched between her toes.
When they reached the cottage, the witch led her inside and straight to the kitchen, where she picked her up and put her on the counter. The witch then took out a chopping board and knife before beginning to wash the cabbage.
"Oh, salad?" asked the girl.
"Yes, yes, I am making a very delicious salad. An old family recipe of mine. You will, of course, take part in this salad, as my guest," said the witch, hiding an evil grin as she carried the clean cabbage to the chopping board.
"Oh, okay, thank you!" said the girl, her voice bright and chirpy. The witch could hear the sincerity in her voice and stifled a cackle.
She chopped the cabbage into thin shreds, bringing the knife down harshly against the chopping board each time. She could barely contain her excitement as she scraped the chopped cabbage into a bowl and turned toward the girl.
"Come, why don't we give you a bath? You're awfully muddy from the bog," she said, making sure that each word dripped like sweet syrup from her mouth.
"Okay!" said the girl, climbing down from the counter and following the witch to the bathroom.
The witch ran some hot water into the bathtub, filling it up. She then squirted in some of the lavender-scented bubble bath that she saved for special occasions and particularly difficult days.
The girl had already tugged off all of her clothes and waited patiently until the witch lifted her and placed her in the tub.
The girl splashed around a bit and played with the bubbles.
"Here," said the witch, picking up the scrub brush and beginning to wash the dried mud off of the girl. Once she had thoroughly cleaned her, she squirted some shampoo onto her hand and raked her knobby fingers through the girl's curls. After she had lathered it in she rinsed it off, scooping up water from the bath and pouring it on the girl's head. The child laughed each time as the water spilled down her face.
Now that she was nice and clean, the witch dried her off with a fluffy towel.
"Wait here, I'll go grab you some clothes," she said before going to her bedroom and opening a chest that contained items from her childhood. She grabbed a small black dress that she used to wear when she was around the girl's age and brought it back to the bathroom. The girl lifted her arms and the witch put the dress on her over her head, lacing it up in the back once she had settled into it.
They then returned to the kitchen, where the witch lit a few candles before realizing that now the dress from her childhood might get ruined. She put the girl back on the counter and watched her swing her legs a bit. The family recipe hadn't been very specific about this part. She figured that it might be like preparing a chicken, breaking the neck and then plucking the feathers. But chickens were cooked whole, and she needed smaller pieces of meat for her salad. Besides, little girls didn't have feathers.
"What else are you putting in the salad?" the girl asked.
"Tomatoes, carrots, dried cranberries and...meat," said the witch.
The witch decided that she'd do the tomatoes next. She already had some in the fridge so she brought them out, chopped them up, and tossed them in the bowl. Every time they spurted juice she could hear the girl holding back laughs.
The witch then did the carrots, cutting them into thin strips.
The dried cranberries were next; they were the easiest part and it only took a moment of tossing a few handfuls into the bowl before the witch found herself back at the original dilemma, eyeing the girl and wondering what to do next.
The knife on the cutting board gleamed with the vegetable juices. Its sharp, jagged edge caught the light from the flickering candles.
"The meat is next right?" asked the girl, bouncing up and down on the counter.
The witch sighed and brought out two plates.
"You know what," she said. "Let's just have meat in our salads tomorrow."

Come Back Part 3
Tumblr media
Paring- Dean x Reader
Word Count-3810
Summary- After everything you and Dean have been through to get together you deserve some happiness right?
Warnings-Smidge of angst, fluff, some language, maybe just a couple words.  Implied smut
A/N As of right now this is the final part.  There is a chance someday there will be a fourth.  There are a few more pictures in this one, I like to visualize things, was trying to help you see what I was.  Pictures found on google.
Part 1    Part 2
Three months later
Chaos, mayhem and craziness, that was what surrounded you.  Currently you were hiding in your old room in the bunker trying to get away.  Unfortunately the knock at the door told you that they found you again.  Charlie, Donna, and Jody, all of whom you had renamed in your head, hurried in. They were trying to help get everything ready for the wedding in a few days.  They all had an opinion on how it should be, the problem was, their opinion didn’t match yours.
Chaos, I mean Charlie thought you should do a Star Wars theme. They women could all dress like Princess Leia and the guys Jedi, with the robes and hoods. You think you just about had her talked out of it.  You had told her if that was what she wanted to wear, go right ahead, but she would be the only one.
Mayhem, oh miss Donna wanted you to learn square dancing.  She was also hoping for big dresses with these crazy bows, and so so many ruffles.  You told her she was more than welcome to have one herself.  At this rate it was going to be more like a costume party than a wedding.  You mentioned to Donna you didn’t think Dean was going to learn square dancing this week for the wedding, but if she wanted to show people that night it was fine.
Craziness, bless her heart. Jody’s ideas were probably the closest to what you were thinking.  After you lost your parents you spent most of your time at Bobby’s before going off hunting with Dean.  You saw Jody as a mom figure, and she knew the inner girl you kept hidden.  You just didn’t want to make things as grand as she did.  You appreciated everyone’s help, they were just a bit overwhelming when you had them all at once.
You weren’t expecting too many attendees.  Besides the three ladies, Alex and Claire would of course be joining.  Garth and his family would be here, a few other hunters the guys kept in constant contact with also coming.  You expected, but weren’t completely sure Crowely and Rowena would also make an appearance.  Rowena liked you, and the two of you had become friends over the years, even if Dean wasn’t thrilled about it.  Sam was Dean’s best man, Donna your maid of honor.  Since Dean was legally dead, and also wanted for numerous federal crimes a marriage license was out of the question.  Cas was officiating, both you and Dean figured married by an angel would make it legal and binding for the two of you.
Turning your attention back to the three ladies in front of you, you figured it would be wise to see what questions they had this time.
“What are you doing for decorations?”
“Where is the caterer going?”
“Where is your dress”
Jody’s question was the easiest so you started there.  “My dress still needs to be picked up, they finished the last alteration yesterday.”  While hunters don’t often get normal things, one thing you always dreamed about watching chick flicks was a beautiful wedding dress.  When you told Dean you were just going to get a simple dress or wear one you had, he encouraged you to go after your dream one.  He joked about wanting to see you in a big fancy dress in your real wedding pictures, not just your fake ones Sam had made.
As for the decorations, “Dean and I talked, we will move the tables aside in the library and rearrange the chairs for people to sit.  I don’t have any decorations.”
“What nothing?  No fancy lights or even flowers?” Charlie wanted to know.
“No, we figured simpler was easier.”  Charlie just rolled her eyes.
“There aren’t that many of us, we didn’t exactly get a caterer.  There is a restaurant in town we’ve gone to a few times that does party size orders.   We ordered a few dishes to serve 30 that should give us plenty.  Sam or Dean are picking them up the day before the wedding, we just need to reheat it the next day.  Dean joked that we can order pizza later if people are hungry.  Honestly, I don’t care much about any of those things, well other than the dress, but it still isn’t as important as Dean.  End of the day what matters most is actually being together with Dean.  I want to be able to truthfully say he’s my husband.”
They all chuckled at that.  You still had to humor them with a few more answers before they left you alone.  You had about two minutes to yourself when there was a knock on the door.  Turning your head toward the door you saw Dean walking in.
“How’s it going with your wedding army?”
Tumblr media
“Not funny, they are driving me nuts.  I know I said I didn’t want to go to Vegas before, but is that completely off the table now?”
“Personally, I wouldn’t want to face the wrath of those 3 if they found out we eloped now, but if you really want to Baby is gassed and ready to go.”
“UGGHH, you’re right, we would never hear the end of it now.”
“I’ll talk to them, see if I can get them to calm down.”
“Thank you, Honey, you're the best.”
After giving you a kiss your fiance left to try and wrangle in your help. Fiance, what a crazy year you two have had. It started with the fight that had you leaving the bunker and Dean.  Followed by the amnesia and being Dean’s fake wife.  They two of you had been together since the memories returned, you had officially moved into his room.  He didn’t say anything else about a wedding after the comment about getting real pictures so you didn’t push.   A month after all of Dean’s memories of you came back  he took you out to dinner then a walk by a nearby lake.  It was by the lake he dropped down on one knee and asked you to be his wife.  With tears in your eyes you had said yes. Dean didn't want to ever lose you again, hunter’s don’t always have the longest lives so he wasn’t going to waste any more time making you his actual wife.
The next month and half had kept you all pretty busy with hunts, you had not had much time to do anything for the wedding.  One of the few things you two finished was picking out your rings while gone on a case.
Your lack of completed tasks is why the girls are here now trying to help you.  You appreciated the help because honestly the last couple of weeks you hadn’t had a lot of extra energy.  You were thankful Dean hadn’t noticed that yet though.
Dean talked to your three friends and got them to tone everything down a bit. It made the next few days so much easier for you.  The night before your wedding they took you out for your bachelorette party.  You mentioned to them you didn’t want a hangover the next day so you wanted to avoid the alcohol.  They took you out for dinner, and still ended up with a trip to the bar after.  Things went pretty well though, and it was a fun night with the girls.  You weren’t sure what the guys were doing for Dean, but you knew they were hanging around the bunker.  When you made your way from the garage to your old room, you could still hear them in the library.
You know those days where everything that can go wrong will?  That was your wedding day.  It was now 11:30 and the wedding was supposed to be starting at 1, if it ever did.  You could not believe the morning you had had.   Dean and Sam had picked up the food yesterday from the reception. Everything was sealed and labeled just how you had ordered it.  The guys brought it home and put it in the fridge.  This morning when you, Jody and Donna were in the kitchen talking about when to reheat everything and what goes where you took it all out of the fridge, good thing. What was supposed to be an alfredo pasta was, well you weren’t really sure.  It was something slimy.  In the container labeled chicken breasts, raw vegetables, at least those were edible. They would work too since Sam forgot to grab anything to make a salad.  Instead of mashed potatoes you got yams.  The cornbread Dean wanted, just cream corn.
Jody called the restaurant to see if they could fix it and get you the right things.  They were extremely sorry, but could not fix it right now.  Apparently your food got mixed up with another catering they had today for a bigger group.  They were working on fixing that one right now, and it would take a few hours to start on yours.  They told Jody they would be giving you a refund though.  Looks like you’ll be ordering pizza after all.
Leaving the kitchen after that mess you headed up to the library.  The site that met you had you closing your eyes hoping it was all a nightmare.  The guys little bachelor party the night before  looks like it got out of hand.  For some reason there were books everywhere, the tables and chairs all over and as soon as your shoe hit the library floor it stuck to it.  They apparently spilled a bit of alcohol, you could smell it now.  That had you running for the bathroom.  You carefully made your way back to the library, Sam looking around the corner when he heard your approach.
“Hey we were going to come clean this up before you woke up.  Guess we overslept.  Don’t worry about this.  It will straighten up in no time.”
“What about the smell Sam?”
“We’ll find something.”
“What happened in here anyways?”
“Cas might have had a bit too much to drink and he was trying to show off some of his powers.  Didn’t go well as you can tell.  Used too much energy and passed out before we could get him to fix it.”
As you were talking you didn’t notice Charlie and Donna coming behind you.  They were going to finish the cake table and chose to bring the cake out now.  Charlie hit the sticky floor and stumbled. She held her balance until she hit an out of place chair and the cake went flying. Now you had another mess and no cake.  At least you had bought Dean a pie, which Donna was carrying.  Never mind it met the same fate as the cake.  What else could go wrong?
You should not have asked.  After trying to help clean up some of the mess, Jody sent you to shower.  She was going to start your hair after.  You two had practiced your updo a few times and she knew exactly how you wanted it.  Problem was today your hair didn’t realize it was supposed to cooperate.  The half up half down with curls you wanted was mostly down, and extremely limp.  Oh well, it was just hair you told yourself.  While looking in the mirror at the flop on your head someone knocked on the door.  It was Sam.
Tumblr media
“What’s up Sam”
“Is anyone here any good with alterations?”
“What kind, to what and why?” You asked with your eyes narrowing in the mirror.
“Slight problem with the tuxes. Um how do you feel about purple?”
‘What’s wrong with the tuxes?  What’s purple that I need to feel something about? Again why?”
Tumblr media
“Cas’ tux apparently came in purple. Now is the first time he’s opened it.  He must have hit the wrong box.  The alterations are for Dean and I.  My tux is a bit too big, and his is too small.  He can’t even get the coat on.”
“Didn’t you get measured for your tuxes? Why didn’t you try them on before?”
“We sent in our measurements and they sent us things to try on and we told them what fit.  Things have been hectic.  We all thought they would be fine.”
You didn’t say anything just stared straight ahead for a minute.  “I guess your Fed suits will have to work.”
You were hoping to do a few pictures outside before people came, that way you weren’t holding up the reception after.  You had figured if everyone here was ready by 11:30 it gave you time for pictures and to get back to your room before anyone else arrived.
Shortly after 11 Donna and Charlie were helping you into your dress while Jody looked for your shoes.
“I can’t find them anywhere Y/N do you know what they were in?”
They were in a white box.  They were on the counter, I grabbed the dress and Charlie grabbed my shoes.”
“I didn’t carry anything out of the shop.”  The redhead behind you spoke up.
“Did anyone carry the white box out?”
Silence great, you left without your shoes.  You had white flip flops guess that will have to do.  Donna started to zip the back of your dress with Charlie helping when you heard a ripping noise.
“What is that?”
“OH NO!  Y/N, I am so sorry!” Charlie exclaimed.  Apparently she had ended up standing on the dress while they were pulling the zipper and it was enough to tear the fabric in the back.  They unzipped it, while Jody left to see if there was any thread in the bunker to try and sew it up.  Charlie kept apologizing, but you told her accidents happen, and ushered them both out for a few minutes of quiet for yourself.
There was a knock on the door.
“Who is it?”
“Babe it’s me.  Jody told me about all the problems, are you okay? Can I come in”
“NO!  If the only thing that goes right today is the tradition of not seeing the bride then so be it.  You can open the door a smidge, but don’t peak in.”
“Okay, okay.   How are you holding up.”
“I’m beginning to think someone cursed us today.  Who did we piss off now?”
“Just a rough morning, we aren’t cursed this time.  I’m sorry about the mess we made in the library.  We got the spills cleaned up.”
“Does it still smell like beer?”
“Eh, maybe some.”
“Okay.  Thank you for getting the rest ready.”
“Sweetheart, I’m sorry this isn’t the day of your dreams.”
“It’s okay, I’ll survive.   At the end of the day the most important thing is I have you by my side.”
“Always, Sweetheart.  We’re in this together.”
As you and Dean were talking you heard the clank of heels coming down the hall. “Is that Jody coming back?”
“No, it’s Rowena.  Hello Rowena, can I help you?”
“Hello Dean. No, you cannot, I just fancied a word with the bride to be.”
“Dean, be nice.” You whispered out to him
“Fine, I’ll see you out there Sweetheart everything will be fine.”
As Dean walked away you opened the door and let Rowena in.
“I heard from Samual, it’s been a bit of a rough morning for you? That library smells like a brewery.”
“That’s one way to put it.  Not much is going right, the food is wrong, the cake hit the floor, along with Dean’s pie.  The library was a mess this morning.  They cleaned it, but like you said it still smells.  The guy's tuxes don’t fit, Cas’ is the wrong color, I forgot my shoes and my dress ripped.  My hair has decided this will be the day it does it’s own thing.  This isn’t exactly how I thought this day would go.  I guess I should just be happy we haven’t been called for a hunt yet.”
“Sit here and let Rowena see what she can do Lass.”
You had been sitting in your room for about five minutes when Jody and Donna came back. They took your wedding dress and an old pair of shoes and left again. They must have found some thread, not sure what they are doing with the shoes though.  Five minutes later they returned again, much too quickly to have actually sewn the dress.
“Okay, let’s get you dressed,” Jody said.
“Wait, what about the dress? Did you fix it already?”
“We did not.  Your witchy godmother did.  She fixed your dress, shoes, the tuxes, cleaned up the library a bit.”
“Oh my.”  You were speechless.
As they were finishing closing your dress there was another knock at the door. Rowena entered a moment later.
Tumblr media
“You look just about perfect deary.  One more little thing.”
Rowena spoke a few words and you could suddenly feel your hair moving around.  She was fixing that too.
Tumblr media
“Rowena, I’m going to cry thank you so much!”
“No tears today, it’s a happy day.  Even if you are marrying that Winchester.”
“Thank you so much.”  You gave her a hug and she went back out to the library.
You had just enough time to get a few pictures finished before you needed to come back inside.  While Dean was outside getting his pictures with the guys, and ladies, you went to the library.  You could not believe your eyes, Rowena had worked her magic in here also.  It was no longer the library you knew, but a ballroom.  Gone were the bookcases, tables and chairs.  White Chairs were set up for the guests and a beautiful wedding arch where you would say your vows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“This is amazing Rowena, I can’t believe you did all this thank you!”
“You are more than welcome.  Alas I can’t take all the credit in here, your fiance made the arch as a surprise for you.”
You couldn’t believe Dean had done that.  It was perfect.  The door opened and Jody came in to see where you were, so Dean wouldn’t see you when he came in.   She ushered him to the hall, then helped you up the stairs. When your pictures were done, she went inside and looked for Dean, to keep him out of the way.  Sam came over to talk to you.
“You look stunning, my brother is one lucky guy.  I’m glad you both came to senses.  I’m glad you decided to come back here.”
“I am too.  Mostly I’m thankful we got our Dean back.”  Sam gave you a hug as you both headed back inside.
Soon it was time for the ceremony to start.  You had asked Jody to walk you down the aisle, being the closest thing you had to a parent.  Dean actually had a tear in his eye when you reached him, and he told you how beautiful you looked. You told him how dashing he was.  The ceremony went much quicker than you imagined.  Both you and Dean reciting traditional vows.  When Cas pronounced you husband and wife Dean grabbed you to him in a longer kiss than you thought he would.  After you walked back down the aisle and people were getting up from their seats, Rowena changed the room to a different setting again.
Tumblr media
The white chairs were now around tables, a buffet line was set up that smelled delicious.  In the corner a beautiful wedding cake, with smaller circles surrounding it on the table.  Upon closer inspection they were mini pies.  You were going to need to hide some of those from Dean so he didn’t get sick.   This was incredible and more than you could imagine, you were going to owe her big for this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Dean spent the afternoon and even talking with guests, dancing and enjoying the wonderful food Rowena provided.  When it came time to cut the cake, you told Dean if he made a mess it would be a long time before you made him another pie.  He took that warning to heart and did his best not to smear it on your face. You doing the same with the piece of pie you cut him.  Dean picked your first dance song, Aerosmith’s "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."  He said he wasn’t missing anymore of your life together.   Most of your guests were crashing at the bunker tonight so it was one long party.  At one point you caught up to Sam.
“Think Rowena could have helped us with Dean a few months ago?”
“Probably, wish we had thought to ask her back then.” You nodded your agreement before going to find your new husband.
You and Dean finally decided to call it a night and head back to your shared room for a little alone time.  There was something you wanted to share with Dean tonight.  Opening the door and turning back to pick you up Dean carried you in and placed you on the bed.  You were staying in the bunker tonight before heading off to your honeymoon.  Dean had actually rented a house on the beach, but far enough away from others you would have some privacy.
“I missed you in my arms last night wife”
“I missed being held close to you, husband. I like being able to honestly call you that now.”
“I love hearing it.  I like the idea of filling those frames with pictures I actually remember.”
“Dean I have something for you.”
“Yeah, is it under your dress”
“Not in the way you're thinking.”
Getting off the bed you went to your dresser and pulled out a gift wrapped box.  As you handed it to him, he told you he didn’t get you anything.  You told him he already did, and just open the box. He tore the paper off and when his eyes shot up to you when he removed the lid.  He looked at you and then back to what you had made for him in the box.
“Really… are you?.. Am I?”  With tears in his eyes he could finish his sentences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Yes, we are going to have a baby, you're going to be daddy.”  He grabbed you and pulled you in for a tight hug before he thought better of it and loosened his grip.  Leaning down his lips met yours in a slow sweet kiss.
“How far along are you?”
“Just about 6 weeks I found out this past week. Cas told me and I swore him to secrecy.”
“You know this means no more hunting for you right?”
“Yes, I kind of figured that.”
Dean leaned down to kiss you again.  It didn’t take long till you were working the buttons on his shirt and he was trying to figure out your dress.  You had to break apart to deal with clothes before coming back together and finishing your wedding night wrapped up in one another.

1/5/21
Now THIS was a DAY.
It started when I woke up at 1:30 AM; why I woke up this early when I had gone to sleep so late, only the universe has the answer. Regardless, after about an hour and a half of trying to go back to sleep, I decided to just start my day. First thing I did was some stretches, a habit I’ve been trying to make myself have again since I’ve been having some really annoying aches and pains. I stretched for about 30 minutes (probably a little more) and I felt better SOO quickly! I must’ve popped out all the pinched nerves from my joints or something because all the major pains I had were gone, those being in my lower back and my neck. After that, I got up and started making my tea and some breakfast. I finally learned how to make poached eggs! Once I did all that and washed the dishes, I did all my skincare and got ready to head out!
My original plan was to head to a state park further north I had originally planned to first see on a date. I still had my kayak strapped on my car from the day before, and I was pretty much all ready to go. The drive was an hour and 20 minutes, and at this point it was about 5:00 AM, so I had enough time to make the drive and still catch the sunrise. Unfortunately, what I was not anticipating was to drive up to the entrance of the park and see a sign that said “Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.” The universe constantly reminds me I can never win!!! But that was ok!!! The treasure coast had plenty of things to see and lots of places to kayak in. I didn’t know that yet, but I’d be DAMNED if I would drive all that way and not look. I made a note to learn how to pick locks so that closed fences wouldn’t be an issue in the future, and drove off.
Since the state park was closed, I just went east and drove southward along the coast until I found something worth pulling over at. And what a good idea that was! I eventually came up to a bridge to watch the sunrise from. I parked at the park in at the base of the bridge and took a bunch of pictures. I never realized the sun rose so quickly! When I was leaving, I saw a bird with a fish! Super cool stuff.
After I finished watching the sunrise, I headed to a different state park to try and get some kayaking in. The one I found was called the St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park, and it was SUPER cool because it was only accessible by boat! After a brief moment of confusion (the GPS directions took me into a residential community instead of one of the launch sites), I got to the correct place and started getting ready to kayak. The launch site had a map of all the nearby kayak launches, the kayaking trails, and some more information that you usually find on those sorts of things. I decided to take the shortest kayaking trail (which was 2.5 miles) before actually going into the park. Once I got enough of a look at the map, I took down my kayak and took off! It was about 8:00 AM at this point. As I was launching, the most adorable old lady who I assume was listening to the radio waved and smiled at me! She was so cute!
The kayaking trail was GORGEOUS. But there were two things I was not anticipating; 1) the rich boaters having no issue traveling at what seemed to be full speed, almost determined to flip me and my kayak, and 2) taking four entire hours to get through this trail. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful time! The trail cut through the middle of the barrier island, and some parts were so shallow I had to get out to drag my kayak, which let me stretch my legs and give my arms a rest. The sights were gorgeous; I saw fish, birds, and every once in a while some dragonflies would rest on my kayak. I even found a hermit crab! About what I assume was halfway through, I got super hungry and VERY fatigued as a result. I have no idea why I’ve had such a vicious appetite these past few days. Nonetheless, I pressed on, and I enjoyed every minute of it (aside from the hunger).
The last part of the kayak trail was the most difficult, since I had to paddle upstream. To say that was a test of strength would be an understatement. And honestly, if not for the fact that I was capable of eating an entire cow in that moment, I probably would’ve had the strength to just power through it all in one go. Unfortunately, I did not have a cow available to me, so I had to stop at a little beach section on the barrier island. Once I rested a bit (I facetimed my mom), I got back on the kayak and pushed myself to get to the dock, which was the entrance for the state park. I walked to the beach and back across the most GORGEOUS boardwalk, then paddled the last stretch back to where I had originally launched from. Again, this whole trip took four hours. I was amazed at the face that I had only traveled 2.5 miles, and was dumbfounded as to how people could complete an entire 13 mile trail in a single day.
When I got back to my car, I literally chucked every single fucking thing in there with no regard for how tidy I was being. I loaded my kayak, washed my feet off in the water and then hobbled back to my car. I was absolutely STARVING. I put in an order for Chick-fil-A and hightailed it there. I managed to eat a chocolate milkshake, large fries, 10 chicken nuggets, an arnold palmer, and more than half of a chicken sandwich before I started getting nauseous from eating so fast. I still had a salad to get to, but I decided to let myself shake off the nausea before I tried to get that down. I stopped at a Walgreens to use the bathroom, then I started my drive home.
The good news was that I had travelled so far south without realizing, it was now only a 40 minute drive home instead of an hour and 20 minutes! The bad news was that I was so physically exhausted from kayaking that all I wanted to do was pass out, and I still had to go help my mom with some deliveries. Somehow, putting on anime helped me stay awake and be more alert while driving? Pro-tip for next time I guess! When I got home, I took a quick shower, unloaded my kayak so I’d be able to wash my car, and somehow worked up the energy to empty out my car so I could vacuum it while I was at the car wash. At this point, I was feeling more awake so I wasn’t too annoyed about having to keep driving. At this point it was about 3:00 PM.
The drive to the pharmacy also went by pretty fast (putting on anime while driving was the best decision I’d ever made), I just picked up the medicines and took off. The first one city, the second was a little north of that, and the last one was back in Loxahatchee heading home. After I finished the second delivery, I stopped at a car wash to get all the dried sand (from the kayak) and other random shit that managed to find its way onto my car, and then vacuumed all the sand that had kicked off from my sandals from the carpets. I was going to do a deep clean, but the vacuums were really weak, so I just did the bare minimum and told myself I’d deep clean at the other car wash I liked better.
The last medicine was on the way home, but I got caught in the WORST traffic jam literally right before my house. An entire road was blocked off, and everybody had to take the detour by turning left onto a single lane road. The drive went from 10 minutes to get home to an hour. Again, thank you anime for accompanying me in my moments of crisis.
After I dropped off the last medicine, I hightailed it home and ate my salad. I think after that I just scrolled on my phone in bed for a bit until I passed out. I didn’t even brush my teeth or do my skincare or anything, I was SO fucking exhausted. I’m only just now getting around to writing it all out! What a day.

The Creepiest Creep that ever did Creep
This happened on the 2nd but I’m just getting around to posting about it because it freaked me out so bad. This is long I’m sorry.
So this dude came in. He was kinda off. Too loud. A little off the walls. A little tactless. Looked to be in his 50s. But I worked in a bar before I moved to this food place so whatever. Dudes either drunk or has a little bit of dementia. Either way he’s a bit overly friendly, takes my hand and pats it when I give him his pager but I don’t take it too personally. He gets a salad to go and not gonna lie I was thinking thank god.
Right behind him is this chick with her like 10 year old daughter and they get some stuff. They get it to stay and sit down.
So at first this dude is just kinda wandering around. Talking to anyone who comes up to the counter to get napkins or drink refills. Talks to me as I’m restocking the condiments and I do my best to humor him. He doesn’t make any other attempt to touch me or anything is just making comments like “sometimes you just gotta unwind and have a beer when the day is over.”
About 3 minutes in though he spots the chick and her daughter and just walks right on over and leans on the table. I figure he’ll walk away after a bit like most drunk people do when something else catches their attention or when his food is done but I keep an eye on him.
His chicken salad comes up and I bag it and pop his order and 1. He keeps talking to her for like 4 minutes before coming to get his now kinda gross salad, and 2. Sits down in the booth and leaves the salad beside him while he keeps talking to the lady. Who I am pretty damn sure did not even know him.
So at this point because I as a short female do not feel intimidating I go grab the tallest cook and ask him to go over and just ask politely if everything is okay, see if the lady needs help. You know. Because if she doesn’t want to be talking to this stranger we need a sign we can’t just walk up and tell him to fuck off.
He says he wants to be sure so he starts doing garbages which are conveniently right next to their table and listens in. Comes back and says they seem to be having a normal if slightly intimate conversation and he’s not going to interrupt them. Aight, they must know eachother then if shes talking about the private information she was divulging to this guy. After wandering over and “cleaning” the table right next to them I confirm he wasnt just trying to bullshit me. As someone who’s had to deal with stalking I’m still really anxious but I don’t have time to worry about it and she doesn’t seem anxious at all.
Speed up to about 45 minutes later. He leaves to put his food in the truck and she grabs her daughter (who was pinned in the booth across her mother by this guy btw) and heads to the single stall bathroom and locks it. He comes back in and looks at the table and comes over to ask me if the lady sitting there went to the bathroom with her daughter. I figure if I say yeah he’ll leave Cuz he was just visiting so I say yeah. Guy goes back to the door and fucking blocks it waiting for them.
At this point I figure they’ve used the back door to fly the coop and like I thought at first he must have been bugging them so when he comes back up I say aw darn they must have left. He says their car is still there which just about has me screaming inside right then and there bc holy shit why do you know their car what the fuck. It also means they are still hiding in the bathroom which he proceeds to go over and knock on louder and louder. I ask him to stop and he does. He tells me he was going to give them a ride home and that’s why he’s waiting and starts coming behind the counter to keep asking me to check the bathrooms.
After another 30 minutes I convince him to leave. And then sit there and watch as he first fucking walks in and out of the building “forgot my hat/keys/lighter/everything in the God Damn book” Then sits in his car for another 20 minutes. Finally turns it on and drives back in forth in front of the restaurant for another good 10 minutes, drives across the street and back for another 5, then up and down the road in front of us for 10 more minutes while I sit there feeling sick and telling the senior manager about the situation.
She goes and talks to the lady in the bathroom since I’m just an assistant manager and don’t know all the procedures for shit like this yet. “Why didn’t you call the police?” “I don’t know.” “Why didn’t you ask us for help?” “I don’t know.” Says she doesnt know him. Says he was insisting on giving them a ride to his house and having them stay the night. She tells us she is single and has no one to rely on so we tell her that she needs to call the police if she feels unsafe and have them take a statement and assist her home but she refuses and stays locked in the bathroom for another 30 minutes until her her husband who she said she didn’t have came and got her.
I’m obviously terrified having flashbacks of when I was stalked and I was also really ticked off my how my Co workers handled it. I know we legally can’t help someone unless they specifically request aid but it would have been nice if they had at least taken me a little more seriously when it turned out I was fucking right. And after she left they were saying she smelled of the same wine the guy did and since she lied to them about her husband she probably knew the guy and was with him before she went to the restaurant and that she was just taking advantage of us which okay. Let’s say it’s worst case scenario and she had a drunk affair with this guy who is twice her age that still doesn’t make it okay that he is essentially trying to kidnap her and her daughter when they have said no??? Why are you acting like this makes it okay it doesnt???
Like I understand that I was probably over reacting a bit because of my past but I feel like everyone else was severely under reacting and for the rest of the night whenever a truck pulled in they’d be like “It’s him. He’s back.” And it wasn’t funny and I wanted to puke the rest of that shift.
Tl;Dr- guy who seems a bit off mentally tries to force woman and small daughter to go home and spend night with him and is extremely creepy waiting and trying to bait her out where he can get her. Can’t do shit because since it’s between two customers unless they ask for help we legally can’t get involved. Co workers think that the fact two people almost got kidnapped is their own fault and tell me to chill and not sympathise with them.

Lynn 95
I got to session a little bit early and sat in the waiting room with another couple and another lady. And honestly made me anxious because I was like maybe I double booked with her or something but eventually she came out and waved so I knew that I was in the right place and honestly I was like hot and sweaty and I checked my pulse and it was like 116 and I was like what is wrong with me because lately I feel like I keep feeling hot and sweaty and I don’t know why. She invited me in and I sat down on the couch and she was like I’m not used to seeing you at the end of the day and I was like I know it’s so cozy in here. She literally had the lights like off so it looked like a dorm room. I sat down and I was like when do you like dark chocolate and peanut butter and she said yes and I was like OK have you had these from Trader Joe’s and I literally took out my dark chocolate peanut butter cups that I had just bought from Trader Joe’s so I gave her one and she was like oh my gosh these are so good I’m gonna have to go get some and I was like Yep Trader Joe’s and I joked with her about how I have to hide them from my husband and she was like you know it just seems like one is never enough and I was like I feel like two or three usually is though and she was like I don’tk now. I said that everyone at Trader Joe’s is so nice and she made a face and I was like I know that’s why you don’t like them and she was like they just always ask me to many questions and I was like I just appreciate that they are always so happy and nice to me but then again I was like actually I take it back the last time that I was there I totally had the same scenario as you did with them asking way too many questions where it was a dude who was like what are you do for a living where are you headed what type of clients are you looking forward to today and she was like yeah that’s just too much of a personal question to be asking people and I was like yeah maybe it was the same price and you did and she said hers was a lady and she was like well maybe That’s just their thing like they have to ask you questions like that like Chick-fil-A has to say have a blessed day or whatever it is that they have to say and I was like honestly I don’t know I don’t really like Chick-fil-A very much and she was like oh really and she held up her Chick-fil-A cup and said she loves it and I was like yeah I don’t really like fried foods very much and their grilled chicken and the texture weirds me out and she was like yeah their salads are really good though and that’s what she usually gets but she said today I was in a rush so I actually just got their chicken sandwich and I’m at SA that’s just everything like they have to ask you questions like that like Chick-fil-A has to say have a blessed day or whatever it is that they have to say and I was like honestly I don’t know I don’t really like Chick-fil-A very much and she was like oh really and she held up her Chick-fil-A cup and said she loves it and I was like yeah I don’t really like fried foods very much and their grilled chicken the Texter weirds me out and she was like yeah their salads are really good though and that’s what she usually gets but she said today I was in a rush so I actually just got their chicken sandwich and I was like oh my husband loves does and she was like yeah they’re delicious but I try not to eat bread to match and I was like hey all things in moderation and she was like yup and sometimes when you’re in a rush are in a rush and I was like that’s true. LOL so she asked how my week has been and I was like honestly I don’t even know I’ve just been so mad and I was like this is been such a crappy week and it’s only Tuesday and I was like yesterday was just so miserable I was like for starters my client attempted suicide and that was the first time that had happened to me and Lynn was like do we need to process that and I was like honestly no I’m OK I’m just feeling mad and I explained a little bit about why I was feeling angry and frustrated specific to my therapy world which isn’t really appropriate for Tumblr. She did ask me though about the clients trauma and offered to give me a specific assessment that she knows someone else uses. She said that she tried it but felt like it was too many questions but in this case it might be helpful with this particular client and she said to remind her of it at the end and she would give me a copy. Although unfortunately I totally forgot to ask for the coffee at the end. I told her also about how I have a client involving a court related issue which I explained to her and how even though I know I’m not doing anything wrong with my notes or anything but I just get so anxious about stuff like that and Lynn was like I’m not surprised you’re stressed I mean you don’t have a work life balance and she pointed out that I’m working too much and I need to take better care of myself and of course I’m going to be stressed and I need to seek consultation for one of those cases and she’s been there and had both of those situations happen to her with court in Bowman suicides and she gets it and it’s very stressful and that’s why I need to really focus on taking good care of myself and finding ways to destress. I actually started to tear up when she was validating what a hard job I have and she said that for therapist in the field we have to find that balance because it is overwhelming and there’s a reason why she only works as much as she does and I have to find that balance because five stressed out and anxious and overwhelmed and feeling sick I’m not going to be my best self for my clients. I forget how it got brought up maybe it was with binge watching TV you’re with how much I’m working and I said something about how like honestly I feel like part of the problem is that I don’t know how to not be restless and like honestly I love being sick and she made a face and I was like OK I didn’t realize how much of this would all go together but like I love being sick because it literally forces me to have to take time off and I have to lay around and just watch TV all day and I said that my husband could literally watch football all day on a Saturday and be as happy as can be and I can’t fathom the idea of sitting on the couch for several hours let alone a full day and being sick literally forces me to do that. I told her about how I’ve been honestly feeling like there’s something wrong with me because I’ve been so hot and sweaty and like overheating and I was like I mean is it hot in here and she was like maybe a little and I was like yeah OK well I feel like it’s 1,000,000° in here and that’s been happening a lot lately where I feel 1 million times harder than everyone else and I have no idea why am and I feel like maybe that’s hyperthyroidism. I told her about how I had checked my pulse in the lobby and it was like 116 bpm and I don’t know why it was so high if it’s just because I always get nervous before I see her or what and that I also have noticed that in recent weeks I feel like I can feel my heartbeat pounding in my ears every time I lay down at night and I’ve googled it and apparently that’s usually a sign of elevated blood pressure which is common with anxiety. I told her about how in general I realize that I need to do a better job of taking care of myself and how that I realized after she brought of nutrition and the pelvic floor I started thinking about how much am I actually eating and I realize that more often than not I end up eating like once a day and I know that’s not enough food and I just never really prioritize it or I’m busy and she was like you need to really start meal prepping and preparing your lunches like on Sunday or something and she asked me if I can do that and I said I can try and she said OK. I told her about how I had seen the urologist and how I was like basically it was in conclusive because they had me pee and then put a catheter in and Lynn made a face and I was like I know it’s terrible and she said she’s been there and had to have it done before also and that she also has bladder retention and she straight up was like it helps if you go to the bathroom and then stand up and then sit back down and you can get a little more out and then she was like or you can try leaning to the left and then leaning to the right kind of like how a dog lift their leg to P I think they’re just trying to get the last little bit out and I was laughing and she was like seriously it works try it. We talked about physical therapy and she said that her daughter was having issues in dance class and they told her it was her core and they were some words that she used where her daughter had to wear this like brace around her stomach to strengthen her muscles that had apparently like randomly deteriorated or something I don’t really even know she just said that it was somewhere that started with a D and that her friend who is a physical therapist for your allergy related issues had diagnosed her daughter and whatever they did worked and she said maybe I had that issue and if I wanted she would refer me to her friend. She was like but it would honestly be a lot of driving because that would be like two or three times a week coming here and I was like yeah that might be a little bit much and she was like well maybe you have someone in your area who is also really good and I was like I sure hope so. I said for now and they gave me this plastic thing for the bowl to measure your urine and Lynn was like a hat? And I was like yeah ! And she was like I’ve been there and I was like well that’s what they gave me and I did it for two days and I said that they said at this point it’s neurological and she was like wait what does that mean and I was like it just means that there’s not something directly physically wrong that they can tell so it’s neurological and Lynn was like that’s so great and I was like no it’s not and she was like yes it is because if it’s just your brain you can change it and I was like I mean I guess and she was like because you can do mindfulness and teach her brain and do the mind-body connection and I was like I guess so but either way it still sucks for now and she was like but the good news is there’s not something actually wrong with your body which means it’s something that can get better and I was like I guess that’s true. She also told me about how she had this awful treatment where they fill your bladder and then she did a sling and said she doesn’t recommend it at all. She asked me about how I’ve thought about our last session and I said actually thought about it a lot that maybe I wasn’t just entirely this absolutely terrible kid and maybe there were some good qualities that my parents missed out on like the fact that I was literally willing to participate in any sort of hobby at all if anyone had just invited me to do it with them. She said that was huge progress and I also said that I had called Renee and then I started to tear up and I was like on the same probably to cry if I start talking about it so I started talking about it in the more cerebral way but I talked about how I had called and how hard it was and also that I’m really mad at my mom for not telling me how bad she was getting because that’s a repeat of what happened with my grandma and help my mom wouldn’t tell me how bad she was getting and I would have to listen In on her phone calls or listen through the door to try to figure out what was going on with her. I said it’s just really sucked and I said also that I was working with my little RFID kid the other day and how it had triggered me to thinking about when I was a little kid and how I would eat raw pasta because I was so hungry and town now it makes me mad that my mom never said anything because it’s like Surely she would have seen that I had opened the package and it’s not like I had to re-sealed up but she never said anything to me but I can just remember being so fucking hungry. I told Lynn also about HOw I had talked to my mom about Renee and of course not how sad I am but She asked me what about the original target memory of picturing my memory with my mom getting me the sore throat lollipops would be writing on the side scale and I was like I mean I guess it honestly feels like a zero at the moment like when I think of it I literally just feel like my mom was stupid and she was of course very excited about this and was like that’s progress and she was like so what is the positive believe that you have when you think of that memory now and this is where I ended up really struggling where I was like I just feels like I don’t know I can’t think of anything about me it’s kind of like if I was looking at the memory as if it was just another memory like the memory being a book page and in the picture the caption at the top of the page it just says the mom is an idiot and Lynn was like OK well what would it say the bottom of the page about the kid. I was like honestly I don’t know I mean it’s just so hard to determine anything and she was like well what would you say about that kid and I was like I mean I guess just that the kid I don’t know kids deserve balance with the food that they eat I mean they shouldn’t be restricted to a limited food intake I don’t know and she was like well if you had to generalize that to the kid and I was like I don’t know I feel like the answer you were looking for is that I matter but that just doesn’t feel true so she was like well on the 1 to 7 skill how true does it feel and I was like him and I guess at three like it feels in the middle and she was like well that’s progress and I was like sure. She told me to notice that the memory was zero and I noticed about how I would cry at the doctors office before getting the strep test and how they would do the swab of the back of my throat and I would be so anxious about the gag reflex and whether or not it would make me throw up and so I would cry and I remember this one nurse who lied to me and said should be gentle but then she was and she stabbed the back of my throat and then I gagged and I was crying and it was such a nightmare and I was thinking about how I was so angry that one time when I didn’t get the strap diagnosis because I was so convinced that I had it and now that I’m thinking back they would always have to call me down and tell me that they were going to be gentle and I’m like maybe the reason it came back negative was because maybe they didn’t get a good swab because I was always flinching when they would get back there. She said that could definitely be possible and I said yeah I hadn’t really thought of that and I thought about how good invalidating it felt when I test would come back positive because I always knew that I had at my got so good at knowing what it was that I was floored the one time then it came back negative and angry. I noticed that I think part of why I work so much is not just the guilt for feeling like I deserve to always be working and to not have free time and enjoy myself but also I think it’s probably a protective factor as well because if I’m isolating them I don’t have time to make friends or to have friends and therefore I’m not going to get hurt by those same friends Monday leave me and she had asked me about what would it take to believe that I matter and I said I guess if I like to myself and I noticed had the other day I was literally just looking at myself in the mirror crying and wondering like will there ever be a day when I don’t look in the mirror and hate myself and think that I’m ugly and gross or fat and I want to believe it but I don’t know that I do and she said that it starts with self care. I said that it genuinely feels like when people get to know me the real me it’s like I feel like they won’t want to actually know me anymore and I said that I had also been thinking about this past week how it’s not just my mom who never made me feel beautiful or lovable but also there were some societal factors that I feel like I always had going against me like my height and my deep voice and my dark hair and I was like you know because honestly look at like Broadway musicals the villains are basically me the only time that there is remotely a hero in the story it’s like elphaba from wicked and she’s sort of not entirely seen as a hero. She told me a notice that and that was when I noticed the stuff about working a lot and then we sort of shut it down and transitioned to ending hour session. I don’t member how it got brought up but I told Lyn about how it’s so hard to know what is reality and what are just remnants of my childhood and I hate that I’m so fear-based. I said even something as stupid as the flu shot I was like freaking out and having a meltdown over yesterday because I’m required to get it for one of my jobs and it’s like all I can hear is the voices of my childhood saying how vaccines are like the worst thing ever and you know my mom sends me these articles on some random kid who died from a vaccine and I’m just sitting here like what if it’s me and what if I inherit some terrible disease that I won’t even know is from this terrible vaccine then I’m getting. Lynn was like it sounds like you need to practice challenging those thoughts and I was like but how when there’s always the but what if factor and she was like will just what you were saying about the odds of you actually getting this rare illness are pretty dang slim and I was like I mean yeah and she said that she thinks a lot of what I believe comes directly from my parents and the things that I learned in childhood and that I need to break away from those. Lynn said that I should go home and do something take care of myself and she said I need to go and just binged watch a TV show and she asked me if I had started watching some TV show and I was like no I just don’t really watch much TV and she was like oh and I said that my husband and I had watched the nightmare before Christmas the other night and she was like oh really that’s cute that was a good run right and I was like yeah and she asked if I like scary things and I was like absolutely not she said the one she was recommending was a scary one but it was like a psychological thriller and that’s why she loves it and I was like yeah I know and I asked her if she had watched breaking bad and she said no she didn’t like it because there was too much violence in it and I was like see I actually really like that one but it totally gave me nightmares and my husband would have to wake me up because I’d be like screaming in my sleep and freaking out over people with guns and so I’m just very sensitive. I said that I was trying to get into Halloween because it’s basically a totally new holiday for me because I was in allowed to celebrate at growing up because you know, evil and she was like I wanna home and I was like yeah all of the being pulled from the class and never being allowed to watch Halloween things and she was like wait did you see Halloweentown and I was like no and she was like it’s so cute my kids loved it you should totally watch that and I was like OK. I said it was my husband‘s favorite holiday and so I am trying to get into it and she was like well are you dressing up and I was like yeah actually I’m going to be elphaba and she was like wait really that’s so awesome and I was like yeah and my husband will be one of the Monkeys so I am pumped and she was like what a cool idea and I was like yeah well a few months ago I had asked my husband if I could be elphaba for Halloween and he was like if we did that would you be excited for Halloween and I was like absolutely so he jumped on that immediately. She said we would have a blast handing out candy and getting to know the neighborhood. I said I hoped so. She said she was excited to see the pictures and we scheduled for three weeks out since I won’t see her next weekend she will be away. I left him a text that my husband sent about our dog and I told Blaine about how our dog has an ear infection but that my husband had brought him to the vet and he texted me a joke about the dog having too many steroids. She was like oh poor puppy hopefully he gets better soon and I said but the medicine is definitely helping already and it had only been a day. She told me to have a safe drive back and I headed out.

The kids are still in Santa Monica with Faye and Clarissa. Ian, Malachi, QJ, and Darius were laughing at a movie while the Aundrea and Alexis went to a nearby sports store to look at tennis shorts.
“You play tennis” Alexis asked Aundrea as she picked up a tank top.
“Oh yea, dads side of the family were all athletes, it’s in my blood. I’m actually trying out for the bball team at school”
“My mom played basketball, I’m more of a volleyball and tennis kind of chick. Darius plays soccer, he’s in a little league team back in Long Beach”
While they were chatting away, Deja was at home cooking dinner. She was preparing a pasta with shredded chicken and shrimp, a salad, rolls, and a cake. She also threw in a caramel pie for extra dessert. Quincy grilled some wings. She should be grading essays however there was no time for it today. Yvonne was helping her with by making homemeade beverages. One for the adults which had alcohol in it and the other one centered around sherbet and sprite.
“This is been a busy weekend for you, hasn’t it?”
“Yes, exhausting, can you start mixing the ingredients in the pie for me after you finish with that?”
“Sure, where’d you get this recipe for this caramel pie?”
“Pinterest”
“I figured” Yvonne said laughing, “It sounds like a dessert that’ll have me running to the gym, or at least it should”
“So what you think about Faye so far?”
“I like her, wish my Zach would have met her Friday evening, but he will be here tonight, I’ll make sure of it. Phil’s bringing him”
“Mom coming tonight?”
“Yeah, she said she is”
The conversation continued and including discussion about jobs and family, when Azalea called.
“Put her on speaker”
“Hey”
“Hey, you slaving away in the kitchen?”
“I guess you could say that”
“I’m at the pool with the Dominic”
“How’s Gabriel?”
“Alot better, I know I didn’t get to spend much time with our cousin but he keeps me busy. Well both of the boys do. My daughter is the only one who didn’t inherit any issues of blood”
“Y’all have fun out there”
After hanging up, Azalea grabbed a wine cooler out of her purse that she had hidden in her purse when someone next to her asked “long day?”
Tumblr media
Hours later when they returned to the house it was dinner time. Helen was there when Faye walked in. The sisters and their husbands as well as their children were all in attendence when Helen walked in. Zach reached his hand out to Ian for a handshake prior to Faye introducing her daughters”
“Hi” Faye said to Helen who stood for a moment speechless. She stared for a while before they embraced.
“Mom, wants me to tell you that she’s sorry about what happened”
Helen stated that she never blamed Clarisse while holding back tears.
While eating dinner Deja asked if Faye had ever got to experience aunt Anna’s peach cobbler?
“Yeah, she usually made it on Sunday. She smothered alot of food growing up. She didn’t really fry things, but that cobbler always came in handy after eating smothered steak”
“Yeah, it was normally aunt Bessie that fried chicken, she did that until her health started to decline. Uncle Pete was a hell of a cook too, he started to cook more often to keep the tradition going afterwards. He made a good gumbo too”
“I haven’t had gumbo in a while, It’s probably been three years since I’ve been down there. Gumbo is hard to find out here that doesn’t include tomato paste!”
[Faye was not immune to Louisiana, she spent the first ten years of her life down there and she would go down every other year to visit her Aunt Lorraine and her Uncles. They normally went late June to early July. Her kids were also aware of the family that they have back in Louisiana.]
“You ever watch the cooking channel and you see a cook making a roux so thick that it looks like a paste?” Yvonne laughed as she poured a cup of the alcoholic concoction.
“What’s a roux” Darius asked
Faye explained that it was the base that makes up a gumbo and that it was the result flour and grease heated at a high temperature until it was dark brown.
After getting up to meet the other youth in another room, Helen began to ask Faye how Clarisse was doing. She said it had been years since she had seen her and that their relationship had been kind of strained every sense.
“She’s good, thank you”
The conversation was paused when the doorbell rang, Clarissa two daughters walked in. “Hey, you made it!”
“Those are your two?”
“Yes ma’am, that’s my oldest Brandi, she just started driving and my youngest Amina”
“This is your cousin”
After a hug, they went to the kitchen to fix their food and met the rest of the kids on the porch.
[conversation continues]
“I never blamed her for what happened, Lucinda was out of control. I think she favored her sons over us anyway. They got away with far more than we did. Of course, once your uncle Mark was born she decided to get the help should desperately needed. We spend the bulk of our lives dodging her temper and frankly the only reason you mother was spared is because she was smart enough to run off. I was simply collateral damage.”[doorbell rings Brandi and Amina arrive]
“What do you think was the cause of her drinking?”
“She never wanted to be in the marriage that she was in. The marriage was forced upon her young, and I think she always resented us.”
As the night progressed and the gathering came to a closure and company left, bedtime came around. QJ, Malachi, and Aundrea slept in their own rooms while Faye’s children slept on the air mattress in the den. After the adults had gone off to bed, Aundrea being unable to sleep started to read “Alias Grace” and begin writing the draft to her book report. “At least now I’m getting somewhere” she said as she began brain storming and answering questions on the handout. It wasn’t that she didn’t care about school. She wasn’t so much as nonchalant, she just was not in love with it like her brother. While she was writing Malachi and Ian were exchanging Skype information and email to keep contact.  They talked about the movie they had seen for a bit before wrapping it up.
It was about midnight before they went to bed, hence the difficulty waking up for school.
Faye and her children were already up.
“Thank you so much for the visit, we enjoyed it”
“We were glad to have you”
“We’ll have to get together in a couple of weeks, maybe have you all come out to Long Beach”
“I’d like that”
After the kids all shook hands and embraced, they hugged the adults and headed out the door. After watching Faye and the kids leave they headed out for school.
At school Aundrea signed up for Basketball tryouts prior to heading to social studies class.  On the way she ran into Brianna who asked her how her weekend was.
“I wanted an extra day. We had cousins from Long Beach come in for the weekend. Last night I finally started writing my draft for the report. I’m gonna have my mom proofread it. She’s a high school English teacher”
In class, the teacher announced that they would be watching a video and taking notes. “Pay close attention, there will be a quiz next class”
Concurrently, Quincy was watching TV when he got a phone call from a school. He signed up with the school system to be a sub for some time until he got his full time job. The call was from a middle school saying that they would need a sub Friday.
“Yes, I can make it. 7:50 am? I’ll see you there.”
While this was not Quincy’s long term goal, he was glad to be out of the house and feeling like he would be of use somewhere to someone.
At approximately 10:00 am, he got a phone call from QJs school saying he had been in a fight during recess, upon arriving to the school, he asked what was going on?
[Quincy(Orange) QJ (sky blue) school administrator (Pink) school bully mother (green) Ezra (light blue)]
Tumblr media
After Quincy left and QJ had to hear a mouthful from the principal regarding his fathers “bigoted” ways he returned to class. He asked if Ezra was alright and said, he’d see him in detention.
In detention while scrubbing the cafeteria floor QJ mumbles “two days of this shit!”
“Thanks” Ezra said in a soft spoken manner.
“Don’t mention it. Kind of sucks that we’re punished for it while his fat ass is sitting in a classroom somewhere. Anyway man, you’re my friend, we may have our fights but I hate that you have to face this every time you walk up here. You don’t deserve that.”
around 5:00 pm when detention was over Quincy arrived to pick up his son.
“Well that’s my ride, are you gonna be okay?”
“yeah”
“Okay I’ll see you at school tomorrow”
after a brief pause he said.
“get in the truck, my dad can drop you off”
On the ride home Quincy said “son, you did the right thing. I’ve always instilled it in you to fight for yourself and for others you see are  being wronged. You went about the situation correctly. Spitting in someone’s face is one of the most vile and disrespectful things one can do.”
“Dad, my principal was not happy with you after you left. He said you were setting and I quote “a terrible example” for me with your bigoted manners way of thinking and he said that it was no wonder that I was so aggressive”
Quincy responded by saying that he stood by everything that he said and would say nothing different if confronted again. He knew that Ezra was one of the nicest kids one would encounter.
“Ezra, you don’t have a mean bone in your body”. “Look, I am from the south where we whip ass or got our asses whipped. Y’all didn’t grow up in that. When I was in school, they didn’t suspend kids over this. I grew up, kids handled it themselves and were friends by the end of the week. Let them hash it out! But because they’ve taken that right away, now you have kids bringing weapons because they are being told that they can’t use their hands. It’s okay for a boy to go piss in the girls bathroom because he feels more like a girl than a boy but it’s not okay for two boys to settle their dispute the old fashioned way. This is a  part of the pipeline to prison system. This is just an attempt to begin it early. The main target being young black boys, condemn them early, then their in juvenile hall by the age 11. Don’t let them get you to that manner, but don’t ever feel bad about using self defense when you need to.”

A couple of months ago, the Auburn Commons e-mail showed up in my inbox. I try and read them whenever they are sent, but sometimes they slip between the cracks. This particular e-mail, though, caught my eye. It was advertising a women’s football camp to be offered on July 16th, making it within a month of my wife’s birthday. What better birthday gift? I thought it was tailor made for her, and I quickly signed her up.
Here are some basics on the camp: It costs $100 and includes lunch, a picture with head coach Gus Malzahn, and an autographed picture of him. Now, this is basically the same thing that you would get at any of the Tiger Trek speaking engagements which are much closer to your home.
However, things are just getting started for the campers.
After checking in at 12:30, the campers get to mingle with the assistant coaches until everyone is checked in and lunch is served at the Indoor Practice Facility. Since my wife follows Auburn football closely, she tracked down a few specific coaches
First on her list was first-year offensive coordinator, Chip Lindsey, who was my position coach at Sparkman High School in the 1999–2000 and 2000–2001 seasons. He also taught my wife at Sparkman. Second on her list was receivers coach, Kodi Burns. As many fans know, Burns was a special player for Auburn, having played both quarterback and receiver before joining Auburn’s staff as a GA. While his football career was anything but stellar, Burns has become a very promising coach and has risen quickly though the ranks. Burns has now had successful stops at Auburn, MTSU, Arizona State, and back at Auburn as the receivers coach.
She also ran into Athletics Director, Jay Jacobs
After a lunch from Chicken Salad Chick, the campers had their photos taken with coach Malzahn before being split into two groups, Orange and Blue. They alternated between the following: Defense—Team Meeting Room, IPF with Defensive Overview/Install—Weight Room, Sports Performance/Character Development Overview, Offense—Rane Room, and IPF with Offensive Teaching with Coaches and Offensive Overview, Coach Malzahn and Rules Overview—Team Meeting Room.
Finally, the entire camp reconvened and bused to Jordan-Hare for a tour of Tigers Den and Locker Room. Coach Malzahn gave closing remarks and a group picture was taken.
When asked about the camp, my wife had some interesting thoughts and comments. We had both assumed that this camp would go one of two ways: it would be a glorified meet-and-greet with no real substance, or it would be an intense, hands-on camp. It ended up being somewhere in the middle.
The coaches were engaging and went through actual drills and concepts with the campers. The more interested the camper was with the concepts, the more the coaches were willing to go in- depth. In other words, some campers were satisfied just understanding the names of the different positions while others were hungry to understand alignments and coverages.
The coaches did a fantastic job identifying the types of campers and tailoring the experience to everyone. My wife was assigned to defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and assigned the role of defensive back. He would call a play, set an offensive play into motion and after the play, quiz the campers on whether or not they had responded correctlyly. Just when campers thought they understood how it worked, he would then translate it to game speed with his own players to show just how fast and hard the game really is.
Due to time constraints, she was unable to have the same experience with the offensive side of the ball, though the offensive coaches and as all four quarterbacks were introduced by coach Lindsey. For many of these campers, it was the first time that a face was put to a number.
What did my wife have to say about the camp?
First, it was well worth the $100 charge, just for the lunch and meet-and-greet. Keep in mind that Auburn charges 10 times that amount for the men’s camp.
She really enjoyed that the assistant coaches were made available and that they would listen and talk as long as campers wanted.
Of course, she was particularly interested in the schemes, play calling, and execution. Though she only did the defensive portion, she was able to learn a lot that watching games on TV would never provide.
The strength and conditioning aspects, including nutrition, were really eye-opening. This, coupled with the character building and all of the resources given to these players, provides the football players with an amazing opportunity. She said the involvement in their personal lives, whether it is the graduate assistant who checks on them every evening or the mentoring they receive, is particularly great. That’s especially important considering that many of these young men never had a father figure nor anyone that has ever said, “I care about you.”
Auburn is making sure these men are prepared for a life outside of football by taking care of the young man first and the athlete second. “It was an awesome thing to see what Auburn does for these men and something I wouldn’t have known otherwise,” she said.
What would she like to see improved?
Since she was the youngest of the fifty or so campers, she felt the camp needs to be marketed to a younger crowd.
More emphasis needs to be placed on bathroom facilities and breaks. Obviously, there aren’t a lot of women inside the IPF and team rooms and, as such, there are few bathrooms. Campers missed a lot of time and instruction because there were no dedicated bathroom breaks.
If the camp could be broken up into multiple groups, it would benefit  both those just happy to be there but aren’t truly interested in learning the game and those who really want to learn the intricacies of the game. It is difficult for both to co-exist and, many times, my wife felt like the presence of the former really shorted the latter. There is nothing wrong with just wanting to meet coaches and take a tour, but it left something lacking for the other type of camper.
It is possible that this caused some of the time constraints that resulted in missing half of the camp. As noted, my wife missed the offensive install portion, something she would really enjoy. Perhaps the camp needs to be a two-day event. While it might cost a little more money, I don’t think potential campers would complain.
All in all, this was a terrific camp, and Auburn should continue it. Although there are some improvements that could be made, I’d encourage any lady who loves Auburn football to spend $100 and attend the next one.
