''You want to swap helmets later?'' Kimi asked her, the sound of screaming and applauding fans surrounding them as they stood on the moving bus. 
Her eyes widened as the question left his lips, surprised that the Alfa Romeo driver would want to do the tradition with her. ''Uh, yeah, sure. I would love to.'' Her slightly open mouth turned into a bright smile. 
''Rianna has been asking for you the entire week so you can see her then as well.'' The Finn grinned. The female driver had been Kimi's daughter's favourite driver since the girl had started attending the F1 races. 
Y/N chuckled at his words. ''I'll bring some merch for her and Ace.'' 
''Really? That's very sweet, they'll like it a lot.'' Kimi appreciated all the time she would spend with his kids, knowing the joy it brought to them. 
''I love spoiling my fans,'' she smiled, ''as long as I get like a cool helmet from you, though! I'm very particular about my collection.'' 
The young woman was known for all the helmets of other drivers she had received over the years. She had proudly shown them off in a livestream after someone asked about the drivers she had swapped helmets with, even admitting she had to buy several extra shelves to store all of them. 
''I was told, I'll do my best.'' Kimi laughed, recalling someone from the Alfa Romeo team telling him about the driver's special collection as soon as he informed them about his desire to swap helmets with her. 
The Iceman didn't disappoint, gifting her one of his more unique helmet designs of the season with a short, but sentimental message written on the side: ''You've proven them wrong. Keep going. Stay smiling.'' His signature penned under it. 
Y/N had written a longer goodbye: ''Thank you for all the great races you have given us. It was an honour to share the track with you these last years. Good luck with your ice cubes, Iceman :)'' 
They mumbled a ''thank you'' towards each other as they handed one another their helmets, reading the messages with soft smiles on their faces. The pair posed for a picture together, their own respective team's photographers and Kimi's wife, Minttu, snapping a photo of them. 
''I'm gonna miss your silence.'' Y/N chuckled, causing others to do so as well. 
''I will miss your loudness.'' Kimi retorted, having everyone laugh even harder at his blunt and witty response. 
The Finn reached out to her with his free arm, initiating a hug with the young woman. She was caught off guard. The man had never offered her an embrace before- their physical interactions only going as far as a fistbump. 
She accepted, wrapping her own free arm briefly around him and resting her hand on his back. Kimi patted her own back a few times. 
The pair pulled back, satisfied smiles on both their faces. The Alfa Romeo driver crouched down next to his daughter. ''We will see her soon, okay?'' He reassured Rianna, who didn't take her eyes off the female driver as she absentmindedly nodded to what her father was saying. 
''You can visit me and we can eat a lot of food together.'' Y/N told the small girl. Rianna smiled brightly at her words, nodding her head. 
''Say bye bye to Y/N.'' Kimi whispered to her. 
Rianna stepped out of her father's arms. ''Bye bye, Y/N.'' The little girl skipped over to her, jumping into the older woman's embrace. ''Bye bye.'' Y/N kissed the side of Rianna's head, touched by the youngest Raikkonen's love. 
As the girls pulled apart, Kimi picked his daughter up- facing his, now, former competitor. ''Have a safe trip home, okay?'' 
Y/N nodded, appreciating his concern. ''You guys too.'' 
Minttu stepped forward, also offering the woman a hug. ''We wish you the best next season. We'll continue to root for you.'' She smiled, stating her support for the female driver. 
''Thank you so much, and have a nice Christmas together.'' Y/N said to her, appreciating that their family would continue rooting for her. She also high-fived a shy looking Robin who clinged to his mother. 
''We'll call, okay?'' Kimi mimicked a phone with his hand, looking at her. She nodded her head, delighted the man wanted to continue having contact with her.

The following morning, Sebastian had woken up to Sofia on his bed while he was on the sofa in the most uncomfortable position ever. He was pretty sure his body would ache for the rest of the day. Sofia was perfectly fine, apart from a small headache from last night’s previous events. She sat in Sebastian’s bed watching reruns of the Golden Girls.
“Morning, champ. I thought you weren’t going to wake up until the afternoon.” Sofia chuckled.
“You thought wrong. I’m actually going to be productive . . as soon as my bones stop aching.”
“Let’s go get breakfast, my treat.” Sofia said as she stood up, letting the sheets fall to the ground. She had slept in one of his shirts and her favorite pair of silk pajama shorts, something Sebastian liked. “I’ll meet you in the lobby.” She said to him before leaving his room.
On her way out, she had bumped into into Mark and Fernando, who were also on their way to get breakfast. “Hey.” The woman greeted them casually as she walked back to her room.
“Hi?” Mark gave a tiny wave then looked at the room she had just come out of.
“Are they . . . you know?” Fernando questioned Mark.
The Aussie shrugged. “I don’t know. . .” They stayed silent for a few seconds then heard the hotel room door open once again. Sebastian, with his hair all messy, walked outside. “Hey mate, what’s going on?” Hoping they would get an answer out of him.
“Not much.”
Fernando wasn’t taking that for an answer. “Are you and Sofia seeing each other?”
“Oh god.” Mark mumbled clearly embarrassed.
“Me and Sofia? Why? Who’s asking?” Sebastian was fully awake now.
“Me.” Fernando replied. “I did hear one guy from MotoGP was thinking of asking her out. I can’t remember his name though.”
Suddenly Sebastian felt like his world came crashing down. Someone else had a crush on Sofia? No, that couldn’t be true.
“MotoGP? So . . . We should find out who because those MotoGP guys are not good enough for Sofia.” Sebastian confidently said. “They’ll break her heart and probably leave her crying.”
“Oh! I remember his name!” Fernando said. “Casey Stoner!”
“Another Aussie?” Sebastian rolled his eyes playfully.
“Funny.” Replied Mark, followed by a deep sigh. “Just don’t do anything stupid. Knowing you, you’re going to do it anyway, but just remember that I warned you.”
“You’re such a dad or maybe like an older brother. Are you an older brother? You give me dad vibes though.” Fernando told Mark as the pair walked away to the elevator.
Sebastian brushed it off and thought about his choices. He could either tell Sofia about his true feelings and possibly get rejected or say nothing and watch the love of his life be with someone else. . . Why did life have to be so confusing?
“Shit.” He mumbled to himself. “Fuck!” He said rather loudly which caused Mark and Fernando to give him some confused looks.
“What’s wrong with him? He’s the world champion, he’s got nothing to worry about.” Fernando said as the elevator doors opened.
‘If only you knew’ Mark thought to himself.
Sofia was talking to Jenson when Sebastian spotted her in the lobby. She had some denim shorts and a simple white shirt that fit a little big on her. She said goodbye to Jenson since he was leaving for his flight. It was all fine until she turned around to face Sebastian. On her shirt was a Casey Stoner graphic. Sebastian could feel his world come crashing down. Yeah it was just a shirt, but it felt like a thousand knives stabbing his heart. Dramatic? Yeah, but this was Sebastian we’re talking about.
“Nice shirt.” He looked at her outfit.
“Thanks! I got it a few months ago, well I didn’t buy it. Casey gave it to me when some friends and I went to a MotoGP race. We should go to a race together, come on, it’ll be fun.” Sofia encouraged.
“Casey? You two are on first name basis now?” He wondered.
“Well that’s his name?”
“Yeah, but . . . Never mind.”
All Sofia said was a simple “okay?”
Instead of being the usual talkative person, Sebastian stayed rather quiet during their entire breakfast. He would occasionally make a little conversation, but he didn’t make an effort, which didn’t go unnoticed by Sofia.
“Alright, what’s wrong with you?” She had enough of the quietness that Sebastian was giving. “You’re acting weird and honestly, Seb, you’re upsetting me in front of my waffles.”
“It’s only weird if you make it weird.” He replied.
“Now you’re being an asshole. What’s wrong? Are we not friends?”
Friends. That hurt.
“Yes, but nothing is wrong.”
It was clear that he had made the wrong choice, one that he would regret for so many years.

Em didn’t lose the baby in 2022 and she and Dan do get back together eventually after coparenting
This was three solid days of texting none of y’all realise how close we were to actually writing something like this.
Em didn’t lose the baby. She got her head out of the sand faster because she realised this was her chance to have a little piece of Dan. That he didn’t love her, but she could do this. She went back to London and got a hotel to tell Dan that she was pregnant and he didn’t have to be involved if he didn’t want to be. But their bad communication kicks in and Em calls Blake while she’s standing on the street because she told Dan how much she loved him and how it’s all ruined.
Their son, Ronan, is born while Dan is flying from Brazil to Abu Dhabi. Nobody in the paddock knew Em was pregnant, she and Dan are barely talking. Things are frosty. Blake’s there to support Em when she gives birth. Dan leaves Abu Dhabi straight after the race to finally meet his son.
From there he’s living on Em and Blake’s couch to be as much of a dad as he can be but it’s hard. There’s big walls between Dan and Em, they’re only talking about Ronan. The breaking point is when Ronan starts to be old enough to not need to spend every night with Em, Dan tells her about a house he’s gonna buy near the apartment so neither of them have to be far away from Ronan. This is after things thawing and getting better. They even hug. Em called him Danny again once. But then he says that and it hurts Em so much.
Dan takes the baby out for a walk but forgets a hat, and arrives back to Em sobbing in bed because how is this so fucked up when all she wanted was Dan and their son and it’s never going to be fixed. And they fix it.
I may have just spent twenty minutes reading our messages and now I’m crying again.

It was only a few weeks ago, but Max loved leafing through the photos from that day.
He actually had some of them printed out in the old fashioned way, because touching those photos made the memory of his shaking fingers, weak knees, trembling arms and wildly beating heart from then tangible. Indelible in his mind and solid in his hands even though they were just fragile paper...
Even though he didn't buy and put them into an expensive leather bound photo album -like they actually deserved- and kept them in an unlabeled manila envelope, they were always within reach in his night stand drawer whenever he needed the reminder. And it might sound a bit silly, yes, but he needed the reminder of this beautiful reality that he had surged through like braving an ocean of emotions, because most of the time it still felt like a fever dream, unbelievable.
This photo, along with the one framing the moment when they finally hugged each other, was one of Max's favorites.
The genuine smile on Lando's face always drew him in. The way one of his hands held onto his side before Max just went for it and hugged him to himself with all the strength and the exhaustion of a man who had just shrugged off the weight of the world like Atlas could never. And Lando had not only let him but also pulled him closer and let him rest even if for a few seconds while this moment had been immortalized by tens of camera flashes all at once.
Max wondered if Lando had been able to feel the way the deflated in his arms. Wondered if he could tell the moment when he could finally breathe easy for the first time in a while had also been in Lando's embrace. Wondered if he knew how he had literally been his anchor at that very moment when Max had been this close to just fall onto his knees and break apart...
This photo was taken literally seconds before Lando had managed to inadvertently keep Max together with as little as a gesture as a smile and a hug. Yes, little for Lando possibly, but it was magical for Max and he was forever thankful for Lando being the one providing it.
He ran his fingers softly through the curls of his boyfriend sleeping against his chest and smiled at the photo one last time before tucking it back into the manila envelope and back into the nightstand drawer.
His movements caused Lando to stir a bit, but Max carefully relaxed back and let him find a better position against his side.
Maybe in the morning, when Lando would wake up, Max should thank him for that magical moment in Abu Dhabi in a more intimate way.
