#but no genuinely i do not feel this scene fits in Ship of Theseus even if the themes/ideas are the same

A mix between a tumblr prompt and a deleted scene of sorts from Ship of Theseus. I originally wrote this fic as a stand-alone, but found myself leaning to Ship of Theseus's general timeline. But I opted to leave the scene out, as I didn't find the tonal pitch of the scene to match the rest of the fic, and I felt the circumstances were a bit of a stretch for a fic that I was trying to keep as believable as possible for typical KH canon. However, the themes and intent are very much the same. :) Absolutely can be read as a one-shot, however, as there are no references to any other scenes from other fics (since it was originally just a prompt-writing), and was meant to be an isolated moment anyway.

ALL THE HADES OCS
OH HERE WE GOOOO~ (gonna put most of this under a cut, because it'll get long) Momus: Sexuality HC: Gay. He thinks he's bi at this point in the RP, but he is gay.
Favorite ship(s): Momus/Heracles, obvs, but I also like Momus/Morpheus and the awful Momus/Theseus stuff as well
Brotp: Momus, Hypnos & Icarus
Notp: Uhhh... Momus/Asterius?
Happy HC: Momus thrives in the modern era and has basically been waiting his whole existence to live in this time period so he can drive everyone mad by becoming a memelord. I also love describing his awful outfits too much.
Angsty HC: Nyx never acknowledges him and this hurts him more than he admits.
Random HC: If he existed in the actual game, he'd be a character who screws over the player late into a run (probably only spawning from Elysium onwards). He takes any perks you've gotten from gods and makes it so instead of doing plus the base damage, it does minus the base damage (although obvs caps before ur doing no damage at all). Because I'd want players to reeeally hate him. Like "I was doing so well, but then I ran into Momus and he ruined it!" Seems fitting for the God of Mockery.
General opinion: I am highkey obsessed with Momus in a way that I've never been this invested in one of my own OCs before. How dare he do this to me. OKAY, EVERYONE ELSE UNDER THE CUT:
Heracles: Sexuality HC: Bi, also a furry
Favorite ship(s): Momus/Heracles again, though I love how soft he is for Morpheus in the recent RPs
Brotp: I feel like him and Icarus could be this once they know each other better
Notp: I mean, there's a lotta ppl who deserve better than this guy
Happy HC: Like, you've already set him on this path of awesome character development to the point that I actually want good things for him for the first time. I hope that the clown parade have an excellent world tour together and that he can start to trust himself again.
Angsty HC: His canon is angsty enough
Random HC: He has a preference for twinks, whether he wants to admit it or not.
General opinion: I can't believe you've made me stan Heracles now. He's shot up my fave characters roster. The banter that him and Momus has is top tier, but then the genuinely emotional moments between them hit just as hard. You can actually see how much they've been through together and how, now they've got their feelings out in the open, they genuinely love each other and want this to work. UGHHH I LOVE THEM Pasithea: Sexuality HC: I mean, she's your OC, but I assume she's bi
Favorite ship(s): Pasithea/Oizys
Brotp: Pasithea & Zagreus
Notp: None really? Even after everything, I don't really dislike Pasithea/Momus, although it's best they both realised that wouldn't have worked out
Happy HC: She becomes queen and everyone respect her like they should!
Angsty HC: Her whole situation with Thanatos and that she didn't get the closure she deserved.
Random HC: She do be liking them goths tho
General opinion: I love Pasi! I think she's just as much the main character as Momus is at this stage and I'm glad that her whole arc showed her giving the middle finger to everyone who oppressed her and coming out on top. Morpheus: Sexuality HC: I honestly don't know :0
Favorite ship(s): Momus/all of his simps (Icarus, Momus & Heracles)
Brotp: They only had that one short scene, but I like Morpheus & Pluteus
Notp: None yet
Happy HC: He gets to travel the world and everyone simps him like he deserves
Angsty HC: There has been enough angst in this man's life. The time for angst is over.
Random HC: He is an unsuitable replacement for owning a thesaurus and should not be used in such a way.
General opinion: Another top favourite! I love the directions you've gone in with him, the whole "he's a doll come to life so Pasithea and Hypnos could cheat the Fates and not have kids" angle is brilliant and he's definitely a character who I'm always keen to see what will happen to him next. Icarus: Sexuality HC: bisexual and sweaty
Favorite ship(s): Icarus/Morpheus and Icarus/Momus so far
Brotp: Icarus, Momus & Hypnos, also potentially Icarus & Heracles
Notp: Icarus/Zagreus LMAOOO
Happy HC: He might not be an inventor, but he eventually finds his true calling in being a technician and becomes incredibly successful with his skills for improving upon inventions that have already been made.
Angsty HC: He's fuckin icarus. everyone knows that story lol
Random HC: His whole existence is one big joke that Momus will never stop laughing at.
General opinion: He's still finding his feet as a character, but I have high hopes for Icarus and think we'll get a lot of mileage out of him. Oizys: Sexuality HC: Obstinately gay
Favorite ship(s): Oizys/Pasithea
Brotp: I mean, she had a good friendship with Pluteus before the timeskip, so hopefully she still does
Notp: Oizys/Pluteus as a romo ship
Happy HC: God I hope she can be happy someday.
Angsty HC: She's not as co-dependent as she claims to be and played up needing Momus's help when they were growing up so that he wouldn't leave her.
Random HC: Oizys gets a slight kick out of the concepts she's goddess of, but doesn't realise when they overwhelm her.
General opinion: It's complicated, but I want to hope she figures it all out. Pluteus: Sexuality HC: Ace/Aro
Favorite ship(s): Maybe they'll figure it out with Aphrodite again one day
Brotp: Pluteus & Oizys, also Pluteus & Pasithea is funny
Notp: Pluteus & depression
Happy HC: Pluteus is happy to be a terrible actor who believes that they're a great actor.
Angsty HC: I feel like there's a sense of not being fulfilled inside Pluteus, but they don't want to address it.
Random HC: Pluteus will always refer to Pasithea as their mother, whether she likes it or not. Sorry Pasi.
General opinion: I like Pluteus as the occasional support character and they're excellent for comic relief, but they're one character who I don't think needs to be part of a bigger story. ...Okay, so there's also Daedalus, Nemesis, Eris and a few others, but I think that I've covered most of the ones who've had a lot of focus for now? Let me know if I missed anyone :0

2016 Fanfiction Roundup
I stole this meme from Lise and would love to see any of my followers steal it in turn. I wanna hear about what you wrote this year!
Total Year-Long Wordcount: 144,023 words
This year I wrote and posted: 108,439 words (on AO3)
Overall Thoughts
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? Probably more? I don’t remember exactly what I predicted, but it was probably somewhere in the ballpark of 100,000 words, which I did exceed. I set my goals high, though. Also, I posted almost half those words during the summer because of my fanfiction war with @trifoyle
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? There are a couple. Last year I hadn’t read the Unwind series, and I hadn’t watched Dollhouse yet, so all fics in those fandoms are a bit of a surprise, but on the other hand, I had been curious about Dollhouse for a while, so maybe not. But I reaaaally wouldn’t have predicted writing my Gatsby femslash for Jordan/Myrtle and Jordan/Daisy.
What’s your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? I’m not sure. I’ll allow myself a couple options: Playing with Knives, The Merits of a Merger and Routine Maintenance on Theseus’ Ship. Playing with Knives because it’s simultaneously such a crack fic and so angsty, The Merits of a Merger because seriously I love Jordan but I also love Natsby and this fic is like the epitome of this conflict, and Routine Maintenance on Theseus’ Ship because Camus Comprix has some problems, man.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? I took a couple. This was the first year I tried writing slash and femslash, and from that I learned pretty much what I expected: it’s just like writing het except with more gay. It’s also a little addictive. I also attempted to write kink which failed horribly, and I hope I’ll be able to do that better soon—I gather I tend to get too caught up in dialogue and character dynamics, and focus too little on, well, the kink.
From my past year of writing, what was….
My most popular story of this year: On AO3, Steak, Cabernet and the Blindingly Obvious. As you might expect, since it’s my only fic of fluffy slash. (Although The Merits of a Merger, which is het and angsty slash combined, is the runner up, so maybe it’s just the active Gatsby fandom.)
Most fun story to write: Bwah, I don’t know—most stories for me are both fun and tricky at the same time. That said, Favors From the Follower was a rush, written WAY too fast in a fit of procrastination. And Fevers, Flowers and Visitors in the Night was a lot of fun because of the clash between how innocuous I thought it was and how creepy it read when I finished.
Story with the single sexiest moment: My stories really aren’t that sexy…but the sexiest ones are probably my Gatsby fics, the only ones that really have make-out scenes at all, particularly I’d Own You If I Could and The Merits of a Merger. As for which, depends on whether you like manipulative femslash or angsty desperate half-hearted het. (Sheesh, that last one’s a bit of a tongue twister…)
Most “Holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story: Actually this year was kind of mild when it comes to violence and generally bad things. But I guess you could say the kind of manipulative relationships involved in Parts We Choose to Play and in the duo of Favors From the Follower and Five Things Rachel Was to Baam are pretty bad. I don’t know…I guess I was kind of a good girl this year.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Having written Most Humane of Princes, I think I have a lot more respect for Cassie. She’s actually very capable and would make an excellent leader. I also think writing Five Things Rachel Was to Baam has made me more obsessed with Baam/Rachel than I would be otherwise. Other than that, no major changes.
Hardest story to write: It was actually surprisingly difficult to write Wooing a Wild Card. It turned out longer than I expected, plus writing shadow princess Irene is painful since Irene should rightly be a badass. That said, I really liked how it turned out.
Biggest Surprise: I’m definitely surprised by the popularity of my Gatsby fics. It’s always surprising to me how many people want to read Gatsby, especially in proportion to how few people are writing for the fandom.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story: I feel like Fevers, Flowers and Visitors in the Night was unintentionally kinky/weird when I genuinely considered it to be Attolia/Gen fluff. But it’s not really that bad. Playing with Knives, meanwhile, channeled a lot more angst than I intended it to, but I don’t think you would understand exactly what I was channeling if you read it.
Favorite Opening Line(s):
1. Attolia was sick in two ways. Sick of a fever (and the doctor said she would be fine in a few days, as long as she took care of herself and stayed in bed) and sick of the thief of Eddis sneaking into her palace and making her look like a fool. (Fevers, Flowers and Visitors in the Night)
2. The soulmark on Sif’s palm is written in highly slanted cursive, carefully scripted, almost calligraphic. The writer must be patient to write so slowly and carefully, and must appreciate the finer things of life, have a sense of delicacy and beauty. Sif gets this much out of the handwriting expressed in eight letters: Lady Loki. (Like Hand in Glove)
Favorite Line(s) from Anywhere:
1. Eugene picked up the glass and turned it in a slow rotation in his fingers, his grip on it light. “Thank you for the wine, Jerome.” He raised the glass to his lips briefly, pressing it there for a moment but neither tilting the glass nor opening his mouth. Then, in one deliberate motion, he jolted the glass outwards and upwards, sending the wine straight at Vincent’s face. (Commitment and Vodka)
2. “No,” Eugene said. “I meant to do that.” He sighed. “What you don’t understand, Jerome, is that I am a god.” (Playing with Knives)
3. She didn’t quite dare to kiss him on the lips (she never would get up the courage, would see him die first, would get her first real kiss years later from someone rather different and end up running away afterwards and hiding in the bathroom, unwilling to explain why such a simple thing was enough to make her cry) but she leaned forward and kissed him on the forehead, only an inch shy of his hairline, and hoped that would be good enough for now. (Most Humane of Princes)
4. And when she cries, she’s all of them at once. She’s Natsu, ashamed of herself for letting down her guard. She’s Mio, baring another scar to him, one she tried to pretend did not exist. She’s old Kyoko, down at the riverside, letting loose the mask she always wears around him. And Sho folds them all up in his arms, and rocks them until their sobs subside. (Parts We Choose to Play)
5. “I saw you mumbling strange words in your sleep,” Clint said. “I saw you grip your staff like it was the only thing that could save you from perdition. I saw you with your arm cut open and bleeding, and the bloody knife still in your hand…” (Coeruleus)
6. “Pretty athletes have their expiration dates,” Jordan said. She walked across the room to sit beside Daisy on the white sofa, maybe a bit too close to be friendly. “You have to eat them up before they go bad.” (I’d Own You If I Could)
7. “Caught my foot in a bear trap,” he said. “Punched in the mouth. Knife slipped.” He could hear his heart beating faster than normal, which wasn’t supposed to happen with all the training he’d been going through to sync it with his body. “Shot,” he gasped. (Routine Maintenance on Theseus’ Ship)
8. “So,” she said. “My name’s Mellie.” She offered her hand, which he shook, his hand lingering a bit too long in hers. She shivered, unsure whether it was sexy or creepy. Probably creepy. Definitely creepy. (Maybe a little bit sexy? Well, no one ever said she knew how to pick them.) (Coffee Break)
Top 5 Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated: 1. From Of Physicists and Janitors, the scene where Eugene has just thrown a glass ashtray at German, and German is not pleased. 2. From The Merits of a Merger, Jordan and Nick’s brief make-out scene on a sofa. 3. From Routine Maintenance on Theseus’ Ship, the scene when Camus initially gets shot at the start of the story. 4. From Playing with Knives, just Eugene throwing knives at a target, possibly with Vincent watching. 5. From The Path to Attolis, the scene where Attolia is getting jealous of Gen’s letters from Agape.
Fic-writing goals for 2017: I would really very much like to write some actually quality kink. Also I want to complete some longer works for my smaller fandoms, such as Queen’s Thief, Gattaca, Dollhouse and Great Gatsby. This time I also want to pay attention and not miss the deadline to sign up for Yuletide, and maybe do some fun gift exchanges throughout the year.
