ok but now that I think of it Stuffing in a Don't Starve context would probably be seen as like divine intervention. those guys are STARVING and now they have some excess fat reserves for the winter

This ask unexpectedly made me think so this got pretty long, I'm sorry :') Enjoy my collection of thoughts.

First of all, I draw a line between stuffing and weight gain – although these two often go hand in hand, they are pretty distinct kinks. Stuffing doesn't always lead to wg, weight gain doesn't necessarily require stuffing, etc. (Also I'm not actually into stuffing, weirdly). So I usually think about them separately.

An opportunity for stuffing could absolutely be seen as a blessing BUT I find it more interesting to look at it as a necessity. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about it is that you'd need a large amount of food available, which is probably rare. For that reason I can't really imagine a character stuffing themselves just to enjoy the feeling. It also fills you up for a significant amount of time but effectively leaves you out of commission – you can't run or fight with an overfilled stomach, you'd much rather lie down and not move. It probably isn't something you'd want to do just because, if you had to stay alert. So with that in mind I can imagine a couple of scenarios here.

1. A character has been starving for a long time and somehow finds food! A lot of it! I doubt they could control themselves. Bringing up my brief obsession with the Minnesota semi-starvation experiment, you almost can't get full after being so limited in your food intake. So it's very possible to just keep eating to the point of getting sick – and, going back to DS, that would mean wasting precious resources. But I doubt they could care (consider also the insanity effects).

2. Same thing minus being severely starved. A character finds a lot of food so to make the most of it they gather as much as they can carry and, if there's anything left, eat as much as they can fit in their stomach. They cannot afford to be wasteful. (To add to it, maybe the food is about to spoil? It all comes down to getting as much as possible from what's available).

3. Of course there is also the option where the survival goes exceptionally well and a character can stuff themselves just for the sake of it. But hey. Firstly, this is boring (to me.) and secondly, I SUCK at the game so my takeaway is that the characters must not be fit enough for survival to get to this point. (I refuse to get good.)

Weight gain is a much more long-term thing. I'm not sure how to interpret in-game time but let's believe the numbers and say it's 20 to 55 days between winters. How much weight can one realistically put on during this time? Not a lot, probably (unless we're involving some kind of magic). So for any substantial weight gain to occur a character needs to be well-adjusted in the Constant and have reliable, and excessive, food sources all year round. Another thing to point out is that extra weight obviously helps during winter but also slows you down and probably makes you more appealing for predators. So there's a compromise to be made here if a character is trying to gain on purpose.

For me, wg scenarios are reserved more to semi-canon nano-AUs, like my little evil threeway one. When you're safe(..?), don't have to chop trees/run around/hunt all day and have more than enough food, it makes sense to get fat. But out in the wild, I'm not so sure.

P. S. l'm not taking into account DST with multiple players because... I guess I'm more interested in the survival aspects of the survival game than in character dynamics. At least for now.

Other misc things:

- Chains of others gets the Gloom effect rather than Pride when Meur uses it in story. Given how he says outright he wishes to protect Heathcliff and how the idea of an unfair judgement [from Erlking judging that all Heathcliffs must die to the court in his novel] is a theme they both share.

- In the end scene, Rodya is at the back of the bus and seemingly in deep thought, can't remember her saying much in the later parts of the Canto either. Something must've hit her hard.

- Is the river under the Heights something connected to the 'stream of human consciousness' [paraphrased] that I believe was mentioned in lobcorp?

- We know boughs can be destroyed, but I wonder if one can be 'reactivated'. The one Dante hold onto in Pass On is charred black but still intact.

- To add to the parallels, Heath n Yi Sang both get stabbed in the heart by a bough, one by their own volition in an act of love, and another by someone else.

- Why does Demian remember Cathy. It's probably something to due to the stars but half the time I'm fairly certain he's just standing invisible somewhere during the story given how much he knows. But given the body and coffin were both still there, I doubt ctrl alt deleting someone fully erases them from everything.

OK answering one by one:

I LOVED THAT MOMENT SO MUCH. In general it was such a surprise and treat to see how much more active Meursault was in this Canto and I was wondering about the Gloom change unless I was just misremembering the color since Pride is also blue but thanks for confirming. Meursault......... It's also so so cool to see the EGOs being used for practical uses like restraining someone like Meursault does, it makes me wonder what it can be do with some of the others like for example Ishmael's anchoring with Snagharpoon or Yi Sang's teleportation in Crow's Eye View

Actually good point though she actually spoke quite a bit I think, mainly in the first part about the resentments she has towards the rich, and the moment she has when they're approaching the mansion that brings up her dark side to the others in full force even if just for a second. Since apparently she's gonna be the focus of next Intervallo I hope it means she's getting more character development...

I say "yes, most likely" as I talked in my previous answer, taking in count Hermann has an interest in it and finding "the prime form of humanity" and The Well they talk about is the origin of everything in the world and humanity itself and responsible for The Light and EGO and everything, it's not the first time there's been a physical entrance to it somehow, the other most notable one is the Black Forest in the Outskirts that comes up more in-depth in Ruina.

Yeah I wonder how it can even get "burnt up" in the first place and what they're even gonna do with it since getting the charred Bough is treated as a grey area of sorts between success and failure. I wonder just How it lost its power and how it can be reactivated though taking in count it's basically magic

I SEND AN ASK TO MY FRIEND ABOUT THIS TOO, the other party involved for each Heathcliff and Yi Sang's cases are also the two most important women to them and great symbols for their own nostalgia and overall arcs, and they are connected to them through flowers that carry symbolic meaning and are tied to their homelands. Heathcliff stabbing himself as an act of showing his love to Catherine is also interesting because Dongbaek's reason for stabbing Yi Sang could also be interpreted as being a form of love, but...marred with heartbreak and hatred and resentment for what happened to the League like in the original Wuthering Heights [edit cuz I forgor: this is something amplified by the fact that when she stabs Yi Sang she quotes the line from The Camellias where the protagonists fall in love together both physically and metaphorically], specially since she was so overwhelmed seeing him she went for him when she was going to initially attack Dongrang derailing her plans. How she talks about it when questioned adds to it too since she kind of justifies herself saying that Yi Sang wanted to die too and isn't spiteful like she is towards Dongrang even being calm seeing he was just fine despite her murder attempt (but also the fact that she was unphased by that still gets me. She's really got no sanity left), and she was correct in claiming Yi Sang was longing for death even if the moment left a big emotional scar on him, much like Heathcliff's heart was broken by Catherine and so he breaks it in a literal sense for her.

Honestly Demian is just Demian. He's a weird little guy and probably exists out of time or something tying to his star. It's probably for the same justification as to why Heathcliff and Dante remembered Cathy, and she's def not truly "gone" since they couldn't really erase the consequences of her actions and presence. Hindley and Linton are still dead because of her.

okay here's my first rough draft of the family tree from uriel vii to uriel ix! (please ignore that i accidentally wrote "uriel viii" as "uriel vii".) some points of interest below:

so martin never had any children of his own, despite ocato pressing him very hard to produce one. he did near the end of his life (about 10ish years before he passed) adopt a young boy whom he named vaseius (i'm not sure what race the boy was actually haven't decided), the name being both a more imperial sounding name than whatever the boy originally had, and also a sly little reference to martin's strong ally and friend ku-vastei of the ebonheart pact. vaseius wasn't a bad emperor, but due to being not of the septim blood he wasn't popular. but somehow he kept the dragonfires lit, and could wear the amulet of kings, so most people didn't worry about it.

ariella is a canon character, before geldall was retconned to be the crown prince in oblivion she was the crown princess, but you don't really ever hear about her past arena afaik? apparently jagar tharn didn't imprison her like he did uriel vii and the other heirs so that he could use her to inject himself into the septim dynasty by blood. she was 15 when jagar took power so i made sure she was at least 18-19 (i forgor which) before she had her child with him, pelagiad v. but she somehow pissed jagar off and so he imprisoned both her and pelagiad v in a time-stretched oblivion plane like he did uriel vii and his other heirs. idk if it was the same plane or a different one. if it was the same one and when uriel vii got out he just didn't let her out too, that's pretty evil but ig par for the course for uriel vii. but it was probably just a separate plane and everybody forgot about her/were unable to free her with the others

anyways she finds a way back with her son around 3e463 and contests vaseius for the throne, since he's not technically a septim by blood. she starts a lot of unrest about the whole situation and eventually vaseius "dies mysteriously" (see: assassinated secretly) and ariella takes the throne for a while, followed after her death by her son pelagiad v. his son, abnur (named after an ancestor of his on the tharn side, ofc), follows pelagiad v after his death.

worth noting is that ariella and to a lesser extent pelagiad v strongly smeared vaseius and even martin, who had actually been a very popular emperor. so people didn't really like either of them, especially not vaseius. but by abnur's time most people had forgotten what they were mad at martin for, and so his son was named martin ii. i wrote down that martin ii died in battle but idk what battle or anything yet. his sister morihatha took over from him since he had no other heirs, and she kind of finished the war he started, and was known as a stern but kind ruler. her son uriel viii (accidentally put vii on that chart just ignore that) was fairly long-ruling emperor, and mostly popular the entire time, but due to reasons i haven't worked out yet, he became unpopular near the end of his reign as is believed to have been assassinated.

now, uriel's son "tiber ii" took over. tiber ii was only 13 when he was coronated, and he insisted on giving himself that particular imperial name, despite it being considered kind of sacrilege to put yourself on the same level as tiber septim like that. he was a particularly mean and cruel emperor, very unpopular, probably got a lot of people killed. he was deposed by his half-brother, martin iii, just a year after he was coronated, and due to his young age, was exiled to akavir instead of executed for his crimes. although some say he got lost in the ebonheart pact on his way to akavir...

martin iii's daughter and successor, eloisa, was beloved by the empire, but she was a sickly woman by the time she was coronated. the elder council tried to cover up that fact, but she unfortunately died three years later due to her various illnesses. she was succeeded by her younger brother uriel ix in 3e633, who is still the emperor as of 3e634! he's gonna come up in this story, probably sooner than you expect!

Misa Amane, hmm.. my least favorite thing about her is her static personality. She'd be a lot more interesting if Ohba actually bothered to give any character besides Light a legitimate arc. She never grows, never changes, she just stays the same. If she were written in a way where the cracks start to show (her "relationship" with Light, what they're doing) and if she decided she didn't want that lifestyle anymore, she wants to be loved by a true and honest person, not playing pretend with a serial killer...I think that realization and Misa doing her best to try and escape that situation would have been such a relatable masterpiece.

As far as favorite thing goes, I'm going to say her personality. When she's not Kira, she's really endearing, cute, and fun. Her character is definitely an amazing foundation that could have been so much more, in hands that actually cared. Aside from that, her fashion sense. Even when I forgor about Death Note for however many years, I STILL wear my hair like this cute lil bitch because she's just so iconic. She's a lot different than the rest of the cast, where they're so calculating and secretive. Misa is bold, and creative. I would have loved an AU where she isn't Kira, but somehow ends up in this mess anyways and works as a spy for L, along with Matsuda. Because their manager-model duo was just too fun.

Fanon pet peeves? I don't really have any. Aside from a large majority of people hating her. She's not perfect, like anyone in the series she has her own flaws and fuck-ups, but the fandom can really treat her poorly.

And yes, contrary to what many would like to say, she is smart - just not a literal genius like Light, L, Mello, Near...y'know, the ones who are intentionally supposed to have near-superhuman intelligence. Funny thing is, I honestly feel that half of the fans who call Misa stupid are probably...not much smarter than her. If you ask me, she's of "average" intelligence, but also - there's no need to shame a character (or real person for that matter) for not...being a genius. I know it's hard in a show where most of the main characters have above-average intelligence, but that is really not the norm.

Want to know what else pisses me off with how the fandom treats Misa? They neglect her traumatic past. Granted, you can definitely pin this on Ohba not really giving much of a fuck when it comes to backstories, and that we only get a short glimpse of her story...but she lost her parents and was almost assaulted by a deranged fan. Within a short amount of time. When she was a young adult. Like, this is no excuse for her wrongdoings, but for fuck's sake it definitely explains some shit.

If she had a dedicated episode similar to Mikami did, I bet a lot of people would have a lot more empathy for her character. I can't really fault people for not caring when her backstory is brushed under the rug faster than my weed when someone opens my door, but still.

Also, people saying they hate her, "because she's annoying" I don't even try to discuss this with. Whether their opinion is valid or not I don't care, I've just had enough of female characters hated for being "annoying". It's just an argument I don't want to have anymore.

Due to several sleeping errors, I forgor

My day was alright outside of my stomach waking me up after 3 hours of comfy sleep, and then me falling asleep for a little too long on the couch at work, which is why I don't think i'm gonna have a new kanji for today. I'll probably just practice some other vocabulary and keep hammering in the first half of my katakana

Like I'm always saying, I dont want to vent here but like, its part of my day ya know. And I'm not upset as I write this its just thoughts in my brain. Btw did you know that overexplaining yourself is an autistic trait? Anyway, I've been thinking about my brain and its problems because my partner has a new work friend who is also autistic, but her and I followed different paths. She seems to be on the Naruto Uzumaki grind of saying exactly what she means and is thinking at all times. The barrier between her and other people made her more forward and blunt, which is probably good. I however went the conflict avoidance route, where I got tired of trying to be understood so I've just spoken less and less over the years. I used to be very social but lately I'm going whole days saying almost nothing to anyone

Its largely because of the specific people I'm around every day, cuz my mom doesnt care about whatever the fuck I'm doing in Onimusha or Splatoon. I've learned what stuff people outside my fixations would be equipped to find interesting. My mom listens, but I dont want to waste her time or bug her while shes working with stuff that isn't relevant to her. And my brother is the most equipped to have conversations with but he's also on a different autism wavelength that seems to be becoming incompatible with mine. Like earlier today I said I was getting really tired of him and our friend being so fuckin negative about everything all the time and then like 2 minutes later he said I was a bitch for paying attention to what skills I have on in Monster Hunter. Something just ain't lining up in our conversations

BUT, thats all to say, my response to that comment wasnt to push the point further, instead I just stopped talking. Because I've learned that he in particular seems to have lost the ability to argue or discuss in good faith when it comes to specific topics. And because of that I sit there and filter everything I think about saying. I have a thought about something in the Splatoon DLC and before i say something I think "my brother doesnt like Splatoon anymore so at best he'll ignore me and at worst I'll get into an argument about whether or not skills are stupid"

So you the reader at this moment may be thinking "this sounds like a problem with you and the 3 people you talk to every day" and you'd be right. But this learned silence has got my ass unsure how to speak in general, so idk how to make new friends or how to interact with old ones. Its quite the pickle oh yes

Again this is literal hashtag thought posting, I'm not trying to complain but this is just stuff thats been on my mind since like January. And now this new friend that my partner has made me think damn I couldve just pivoted into an assertive style autist but I assumed a defensive posture. The human mind truly is fucked and full of terrors

But all that shit aside Dungeon Meshi is amazing, the whole crew is great. I am concerned that I'm getting incorrect localizations on their names cuz i'm reading it on manga dex. And finally the moment youve been waiting for yes its true I only have 4 weapons left to go in Side Order. I was spoiled on the name of Eights pallette weapon and it didnt tell me anything but it made me want to get it as soon as possible to see what the fuck it is
