𝐋𝐗𝐗𝐗. Twilight Sword's celestial aura: lunar and solar.

At first glance people might see that there is something amiss in Dain that at the same time gives him ethereal vibes despite how somber and dark he looks, but touching him exudes a warmth and reinvigoration from him that stirs up the alerts about the fact that he's something beyond. Not because of Irminsul alone, which also plays a crucial part into this. But because of his celestial origins as the second heir who descended from the heavens to retake where the first heiress has failed.

This is because in his very beginnings before his descent (aka banishment, in truth), Dain used to exude a solar aura that made him shine with an extraordinary light akin to the sun. His aura strengthened those around him and new life sprouted wherever he walked. Upon getting in touch with the abyssal presence in his way to Khaenri'ah, this solar aura minimized its effects— it no longer was sun-like, but it became more moon-like as the way its brilliance is given the fact that in essence it's a reflection of the sunlight, but no longer the sun in itself. The light surrounding him is but an easily overseen lunar sheen that reinvigorates those around him in a subtle manner that can be overlooked too or not depending on one's sentience.

After the divine cursed was laid to him and after several years his soul was tainted with corruption, this lunar aura dissipated completely from everyone's eyes —perhaps not of those of non-human beings and highly attuned allogenes with a peculiar sentience—, remaining solely on the paleness of his features and hair to be reminiscent of something moon-like. At this point of time that extends to the present, only by touch alone can one tell that this man who looks so cold and distant and tragedy-touched is indeed an ethereal being despite having traits that makes him stray far from the perfection and purity of celestial beings that in truth, doesn't exist. The warmth, the invigoration and strengthening of the person who touches him until the physical contact breaks remains undeniable.

GOOD! I'll now explain a little more about my absence on Tumblr, not that I think it was dramatic, but I did get a few reactions to it (why no analysis of the last chapter? Asks still unanswered).

I wanted to test on Twitter, in fact I was already expecting the conclusions I was going to draw from this experiment, but it all started with a discussion with my twin sister who told me that I had to test to see how my analyses in particular (there's no difference in the way fanarts are received) would be received.

Honestly, my posts went down well and I think it shows that on any platform many people are interested in digging into a manga, but unlike here where people will want to look for opinions on a chapter, posts on Twitter drift towards people who aren't interested (and they have the right).

But the insulting, even misogynistic part, the repeated meme, the often private RT quoted, it's anxiety-provoking.

And even when I wasn't posting, the arguments, the drama, the anxiety-provoking news loops, the nonsense all contributed to my bad mood.

Anyway !!!! I'm going into exam period, so I won't be as productive as usual right away, but I'm going to stay on Tumblr.

Not that I wanted to leave, but I didn't know if I'd be posting on Tumblr AND Twitter

Already time-wise, it's impossible, especially for someone who's trying to limit her addiction to networks.

And one last clarification: all my threads on Twitter were reflections I'd already written here, so you haven't lost any "content".

Addendum: if I haven't made myself clear I'll probably quit Twitter and only stay on Tumblr!!!!

Another addition: CSM doesn't have the audience the work deserves, not because people don't like the work enough (I don't care about that) but because people refuse to believe that Fujimoto thinks his work, coherently and deeply

i think. everyone should stop reading my most popular fics that aren't really that good and start reading the ones with 18 kudos that are significantly better

#this is about (just wanna be) somebody i'm proud of #yes i had fun writing it. but it's REALLY NOT THAT GOOD #also i cannot stress this enough: that fic was a fluke #it's NOT a good example of what i write. guys i'm so much better at the angsty character study fics #i promise i actually can get proper characterization. i had to sacrifice some of that for the light-hearted stupid cheesy premise #alas #no one in fandom actually cares about characterization #ngl sometimes i even wonder what the point of writing stuff in-character is if the flat #'characters reduced to a single trait that they may or may not even possess'#fics will ALWAYS end up being more popular than the ones with good characterization #anyway i know why the 18 kudos one is so low. it's the mcd tag. AND it's a gen fic centered around a character no one cares about #i wasn't expecting that one to do well #but it does suck that like. my most popular fics will never actually be my best ones #it's the same with bsd but THAT'S a whole other story #that's the phenomenon of everyone reducing bsd to the skk show and not giving the time of day to fics centered around anyone else #do u guys realize there are SO many other INCREDIBLE characters and dynamics????#like i was doing that bsd fic rec event on twt and almost all of the fics recced were skk #meanwhile i was searching for anything NOT skk bc idk other ships and characters deserve appreciation too??#and i don't even read much skk bc it's so hard to find anything that's. like. Totk spoilers, but I love how each old sage refers to their successor as 'their descendant'.

Like, it's literally been way more than 10,000 years. Each of the four races are not ginormous humongous sprawling expanses of billions.

thinking about marius and cosette, how what makes their chemistry work (at least for me) is the fact that they're constantly noticing each other and in the same area without ever interacting. the romantic thing about it is the tension you get when there's someone you're aware of and you're always noticing them and you never talk but it just always makes you wonder about them and what talking to them would be like. and how you feel like they must be aware of you too but you don't know for sure and that just makes you wonder more

basically i would just love to read a modern au fic where someone makes it work that their equivalent to this is being neofriends on neopets and literally all the time when they're on neopets they see that the other person is on and they always want to neomail but they never do lmao, cus it's like the same vibe

and i also just have to talk about my own modern au 😊 cus i think i adapt this whole thing really well too. basically they're all preteens going into teens and cosette used to live with eponine's family but was adopted by valjean and they live on the other side of town, which is also the other side of town from marius and the other guys, who all become friends with eponine. cosette meets everyone besides marius and eponine at the public pool, which is their perpetual hang out spot during summers (marius is always at his grandfather's house/mansion the whole entire summer, eponine's parents are banned from the pool and probably wouldn't let her go anyway). she learns that they know eponine, so she lies and says she doesn't know eponine. that's kind of getting away from the point here but the consequence of it is that cosette can't see the guys during the school year, cus like besides going to the pool (which valjean knows eponine's parents are banned from, so it's safe) they're practically hermits, and it's too dangerous letting cosette start hanging out somewhere where eponine very well could be (it's a plot hole basically, but i'm okay with it lol). and basically the purpose of all this is just making it so that cosette and marius never meet, despite being part of the same friend group (and just like, to make angst for cosette lol). and what happens as a natural result of this is that their friends tell them a lot about each other, so they get a sense of what they're like and they just seem so sweet and cool. and it's mainly just frustrating that they can't meet each other (only one high school in this town, so they will eventually, but it seems like such a long time to wait). so basically, they're not interacting and in this they're not even seeing each other, but there's still that tension, because all the tension is is awareness without interaction, and this is definitely awareness even if it's not in person. honestly i haven't focused much on this specific way of looking at it because i didn't really realize it was such a crucial part of marius and cosette as a concept lol, but now i want to retroactively lean into it more. but yeah i can't help it it's just so cute that they get crushes on each other without ever meeting, just through what they learn about each other through their friends, it's adorable!

Here's the tentative outline of the TSG paper, as okayed by the professor whom I've been discussing the project with:

intro to the trend of recent adaptations/retellings reframing TSG as a story about grief

an assertion that the book is really about healing from childhood e m o t i o n a l n e g l e c t (CEN) (my thesis?)

defining CEN and distinguishing it from traditional grief

an analysis of CEN in the text

how this interacts with what these adaptations/retellings are doing

conclusion about the importance of the text’s depiction of CEN and why it’s worth acknowledging/exploring

It's a relief to pin this down and be able to go into this with some kind of focus. I've already got a start on the first paragraph. I'm trying a method of drafting by just constructing the basic argument and then working in all the evidence and research later. My college papers tended to take forever to write because I drafted them with Finished Perfection in mind for each sentence, which is stressful and easy to get bogged down with. We'll see how it works. The paper needs to be completed by October, probably the end of the month at the very latest, but I'd like to get it finished in enough time to fully polish and not have to stress about a tight deadline.

I can do this. Probably. It's been a few years but I might still have it in me.

#random personal stuff #of course I write mini-essays here all the time!#but those aren't presented as scholarly with proper citations and you guys presumably forgive me if I'm not clever enough #Dr. B. (the one who tried to rope me into that roundtable presentation) is already talking about #trying to get some of my old papers published in a journal #or working on a book #she is so full of enthusiasm and confidence and grandiose ideas that it's both impressive and kind of terrifying #don't know if I really want to do any of these things #I mean even assuming a journal would want my work (which isn't really on that level I think) what would be the point #I used to want to be an academic but lost that after the thesis and everything before that #the last time I was working with a professor who wanted me to do Grand Things...it didn't end well #and of course Dr. B. is nothing like That Man and would not have his motivations #but all the same I don't want to commit to anything on this level for the foreseeable future #I'm just writing a paper so I can present it at a convention because that's about the only thing I can do that makes anyone proud #got to justify my existence somehow
