ep.10.01 - dads don’t do other dads dirty

i feel like beth really got a feel for ron’s character in this episode and the last one he really is acting more like later season ron!

this episode is so chaotic and so much is happening!

glenn struggling between having fun with nick and the guilt of leaving the other dads (although he ultimately doesn’t end up caring)

Did anyone else clock that the phrase used about the bullywog clones was not 'you are the only clone', but 'you are the only true clone'. Which means, to me, that there could be hybrids or other wacky versions of Sol that aren't regarded as "true clones"?

Thank you for the ask about my other Pokémon starters, so I thought I would send it back your way! Tell me about your other starters!

Ok so I don’t have my full lines all the way planned out yet but I can tell you what I have so far and I have preliminary designs for the first stage!

Tindillo is the fire armadillo! Able to roll up and speed around in a fiery ball, they are competitive and like to race each other. I know the final form will be fire/steel but still thinking of designs. I’m definitely considering the biker theme idea! I also like the idea of the tail forming a steel mace/morning star at the end. Current working ideas for middle stage is called Irondillo and final form Armordillo.

Hoofling is the grass baby moose! They are very calm pokemon that like to live in the depths of the forest but especially near lakes. The final form is called Moosterious and is grass/fairy (this pokemon was very almost a grass/water but I didn’t want to overlap starter types). I don’t have the final form completely designed in my head yet but I imagine it is a deep forest green and has very large antlers that make almost large bowls that are filled with little fairy pools. It has flowers sprouting all around its body and especially lots of flowers around its antlers and maybe even some floating flowers and lily pads in its antler pools. Current middle stage name idea is Branchler.

Madpole is the water bullfrog tadpole! Highly aggressive, vocal, and competitive. Madpoles are constantly sparring with each other but if there are no other madpoles around they will challenge any other pokemon or even people around. The final form is Swolefrog and is water/fighting. I’m basically picturing a large, muscular, bipedal bullfrog that has hands like boxing gloves. Swolefrog is still competitive but will only attack those who have accepted its challenge (unless there is danger). I figure they are like a heavyweight boxer. The middle stage is tentatively called bullywog and very much looks like those in-between tadpoles that now have legs but still have a slight tail.

The trio has a double advantage so we’ve got fire—>grass—>water but we’ve also got steel—>fairy—>fighting (originally I wanted a reverse advantage circle for the starters but there weren’t type ideas I liked as much as these when I was playing around)

mamie creepcough, known as the “mushroom hag,” “mama creepcough,” “morbid mamie,” and countless other names, is a hag found deep in the neverwinter wood. the other hags who have taken up material residence along the sword coast know of mamie for her special glee in providing painful solutions to complex problems, combining her twisted alchemical hobbies with wicked fey magic.

hee home is nestled in a giant rotted pine tree, malicious campestri & disguised redcaps serving as her fungal watchdogs. the ground entrance is the guest parlor, doubling as the less guarded portion of her library. this room is where deals are struck & lives are ruined. below ground, however, lurks the kitchen (operated by indebted bullywogs & her half-elf ward), sleeping quarters (upkept by enslaved nilbogs), an underground garden (full of alchemical herbs & varying exotic mushrooms, guarded by a deeply unhappy foul-mouthed awaken scarecrow called cornblight), & her laboratory, containing her more precious tomes & doubling as the home of her “dear, sweet” crystal dragon wyrmling, pumpkin. (pumpkin behaves very much like a big cat who is under the idea he is a house cat, only caring for mamie & being a general nuisance to everyone else.)

twenty or so years ago, a distraught young wood elf made the journey across the river mirar from blackford crossing to call upon mama creepcough. his pregnant wife was deathly ill, the only known cure being lethal to the unborn child — his wife would not allow this, & he could not raise a child without her. let them both live, he pleaded, whatever the cost on my end. a potion was made, a deal struck, & the man returned home. his wife was well, made whole by the potion. not long after came the price — the young girl, still a squalling infant, & the memories of her from the parents’ minds. annette, she was named, though mamie took to calling her either “girl” or “toadstool.” once the young girl was old enough, raised more by the nilbogs than her so-called mother, she was put to work — cleaning, cooking, tending the garden, & being generally tormented by the hag & her surrounding denizens.

upon putting the child to work, mamie took sick glee in annette’s reaction to the cruel bargains struck. one that annette still remembers is a depressed tiefling woman, pleading to laugh & smile again. the mushroom hag sewed her mouth into a twinging smile, bottling her screams. mamie then fashioned some earrings of enchanted timmask spores, giving the tiefling a painful smile & excruciating laughter to match.

mamie taught her ward magic, though only in limited quantities. the girl had an innate talent for alchemy, which was thoroughly exploited by the hag. mama creepcough intended to keep the fey-touched girl forever, frightening her with twisted tales of the world outside their pocket of the feywild. as the young girl grew, her soft heart & quiet nature began to fester, endearing some of the servants to her. this grew mamie’s ire, often leading to either physical or magical outbursts, with annette on the receiving end. it took catching the girl only once in her private library, reading her books, for mamie’s wrath to flare the hottest. bound by the bargain to not kill her, the hag transported her ward to the thickest patch of the cloak wood, casting a dimension door below her feet & cursing away her sense of direction.

the hag quickly moved on, though not without warning all other hags along the coast to never show annette hospitality nor strike any bargains — under threat of mamie creepcough’s retaliation.

hazel eyes track up to the sky, taking a brief moment to admire the cracked egg yolk of the sun, bleeding into reds & purples & blues. the colors of time. some small compartment of her heart pangs at the thought of the many years she was never allowed to admire the beauty of the world around her -- even the rude bullywogs & that one ostracized merrow had a certain admirability to them, which she always needed to keep secret. "isn't it funny," she remarks quietly, "how the sky is most brilliant before it goes dark? like a swan song."

OK! Ima talk about one of my characters that I’ll most likely be posting about most 👍 SO. His name is Virberos, he’s a character from a dnd campaign that I’m currently in. It’s only my second so i might get some things wrong. He’s a Harangon Rouge and Warlock who is permanently blind (Ik, he’s annoying af). Please note that his story is still being formed and adjusted, so if things dont line up, please let me know, because although it could be just me writing and not revising, but it could be flaws in my story that are really helpful when critiqued!

Childhood timeee, he grew up in a swamp in hither (if I’m remembering correctly) and him and his community had to constantly move living spaces due to Harengon’s being known for being fast, sneeky, and mischievous. I.e commonly thieves/seen as thieves; This put them in danger if found by Bullywogs or adventurers looking for goods. He lived with his twin siblings, mother, father, and grandmother. Although they mainly grew up through poverty, their main source of income was through fishing; But, because this is a Dnd world and he cant get a break, ofc fish are giant and/or death inducing. This is the reason for the amount of scares that they may gain, or the strength that may be needed for their job; Also, the need for the use of harpoons. When they do get a good amount of fish sold, its enough money to get necessities or things for work.

The real good goods here folks- The reason why he is blind with an excellent face scare, is because when he was around 19 (age may change) his sibling was being taught how to use a harpoon, so he could also help work the family business. When he was left to try it out without his fathers help, the spear ended up through Virberos’s skull. Please not that nothing of his death was on purpose lol, my Dm thinks that Virberos’s sibling was out for blood. Virberos dies and finds himself in limbo, he feels his eyes drip, as if crying. When his eyes a wiped, its thick and inky. There he waits, he has no idea where he is, or if any of this is real, he doesn’t know if everything is dark, or if he cant see. Suddenly he hears a noise, he turn to see a deity, The Keeper. The keeper is a “god” of death, as well as gluttony and greed. I would love to show you some images of him, but, if there’s any official art, i cannot find it or have no idea that it’s official art :/ either way, the keeper stand before him and Virberos is desperate, for he now knows he has died, and his sibling will need to face the consequences for his murder. The Keeper offers a deal, the possession of his body at any time, for his second chance at life, a second chance to correct things. Virberos accepts. Suddenly, He’s sent back to his body, he gasps for air, and his vision slowly fades out. Yet, he’s still conscious. He is now blind, he can still feel his eyes crying with the same ink as before. He wasn’t told of this part of the deal. He doesn’t hear any talking, any commotion at all.

Ok, so, like i said this entire story is still in the making. So i don’t know where to go with his official story. His goal in my campaign is to rid himself of the curse, because The Keeper ends up fucking up his body a lot, so that big scar on this thigh is because of the keeper. Along with that they keeper kinda has him wanted for mass murders🤷if i were to have his official story go that way, than he would wake to find his family, than leave to rid himself of the curse and find the rest of the people in my dnd campaign. Buttttt, on the other hand, it could be him trying to find his family because they most likely moved very quickly after their son was killed. My campaign uses the first one, but my campaigns going downhill really quickly, because only the DM and I actually care about the game and progress the story, but, my characters goal for the entire campaign was resolved the first time it came into play :/

Either way, lmk what you think and what i could fix with what I’ve put out here :b
