Bright crocuses greeted me when I got home.

James Wong is one of the most beleagured men on Twitter. Not only did he recently get fired from the Observer for publicly objecting to platforming a TERF, he has a bunch of idiots arguing that daffodils (toxic) bundled like spring onions and placed in the produce section next to other alliums isn't dangerous because people should "know better" somehow.
Marks and Spencer is a UK-based retailer with some stores in a few other countries as well. I haven't seen daffodils sold like this in the U.S., but this is your regular reminder that staff at any given store don't necessarily know how toxic the plant products they're selling are. If you see something like this, bring it to the store's attention and also notify their corporate office.

Wow Will looks exhausted and tired, he must've been shoveling a ton of dirt, buff Byers, right?
WRONG
Will was out there with a hoe. He was pushing dirt around with a hoe to bury a dead person, like an inverse, evil gardener.

Gorgeous striped crocus popped up in the yard. This is the only one I’ve found so far, so I marked it and will be guarding it zealously.

hey. hey. did you know if you buy a rotisserie chicken ($5-10 depending on where you get it) you can dig into it like a rat, then strip and save the rest of the meat, then make as much stock as you can fit in your largest pot by simply simmering the bones with herbs and veggies or veggie scraps for 6-8 hours, thereby easily doubling the value of your purchase and making the best soup base ever?

I was thinking of digging out the imperial fritillaries last fall but I have to say they’re really killing it this year. Big and impressive!

Plant of the Day
Tuesday 2 April 2024
I went past this cheerful front garden with a jewel box of tulips. At the front was the small Tulipa saxatilis (Bakeri Group) 'Lilac Wonder' with mauve-pink flowers which are paler within and with a large yellow zone at the base.
