no because ronan and declan and matthew showed up to church every sunday. no matter what, they were all there. just to sit together. even when the night before they had literally thrown punches. even when the last thing they wanted was to act civil in a holy environment. even when declan had to drive 2 hours just so he could sit in the same church his father did with his two brothers. because that's what it means to have a sibling.

the lynch brother’s relationship to one another is complicated and made increasingly complicated as they all mature. but at the end of the day declan is the only other person who tells stories just like niall. who knows to say “are you going to be quiet” to get ronan to listen. having a sibling is being known by default. it’s growing up together. it’s adopting your father’s “jesus mary joseph” but adding “fuck” at the end just to make it yours. it’s wanting to both punch your brothers in the face but also wanting to blow up the whole world if either of them is in any danger. it’s sharing a name and a face and a father. and it’s also not being able to share a home or a life for a while. it’s growing up together and growing apart and then growing back into one another.

because sometimes having a sibling just means being able to say:

“i miss him too.”

new fic idea: Harvard student!Adam picks up a job as a waiter at an Irish pub in Boston. The pub is owned by the Lynch family, Declan manages the business, Matthew is manager in training & host, and Ronan is in the kitchen. Typical Lynch family drama ensues DAILY. Ronan has such a big crush on Adam that in the beginning, nearly every time he enters the kitchen to pick up an order, Ronan burns himself or drops a plate or does something stupid cause he is distracted 🙃

thinking about that scene with anthony and daphne in bridgerton s2 where they’re arguing about what their dad would say about the kathony situation if he was here

and anthony says “you cannot possibly know what he would say. he had different words for me than he did for you”

and all i can think about is declan lynch !! and how different his childhood was from ronans and how different niall was for and to declan and how heavy the burdens that declan carries are

yet he would do it over and over again to give ronan any scrap of happiness, letting ronan keep niall up on that pedestal as long as he can and burying his own pain instead

where’s the MESSY holidays with the lynch fam fic? like ronan and declan get into a fist fight, jordan and hennessy throw drinks at each other. matthew makes some comment under his breath about ronan being the biggest liar he’s ever known. adam being passive aggressive af to everyone. everyone is fighting, the tension is sooooo heavy, then they all sit down through a painful dinner and burn shit in the backyard to blow off some steam. even better if gansey is there trying to break up fights and everyone is like “gtfo of my way gansey” to bicker more
