Christmas in Sin City and celebrating Poppy Oz’s 70th
Positives: Great flight and travel in and a nice evening catching up with Aunt Sara & Uncle Bob yesterday. Lovely experience at the Exploration park and fun seeing the mountains & desert scenery.
Challenges: Kids woke up at 4:30am, Gabe not feeling himself
Best Meal: We ate at the condo for breakfast & lunch but went out to dinner with Sara & Bob at Osaka (tapenaki grille & sushi) in Henderson
We learned: At the top of Exploration park there were several plaques dedicated to parts of the valley like Red Rocks and Frenchman’s Mountain. The mountain mine was a sham sprinkled with fake gold to draw in buyers.
What made us smile: Seeing mermaids and fish in the tank at the Silverton Casino. And seeing the sting ray feeding by a scuba diver.
Taking the ferry to Positano and swimming in the Tyrrhenian Sea! The kids loved playing in the black sand and building a castle with large rocks on the beach. Beautiful views of the coastline and pink/white/yellow buildings dotting the steep hills.
Challenges:
We spent so much time at the beach that we ended up rushing to get a bite to eat at Mediterraneo, a restaurant Barb & Phil had loved. The stairs in Positano are steep and seem to go on endlessly! We huffed and puffed our way up to the restaurant but it was well worth it!
Best Meal:
Lunch at Mediterraneo in Positano, and then a lovely farewell dinner at Fauno bar where we sat outside and ate caprese salad on a light focaccia bread and homemade pasta (scialatelli) with all sorts of delicious seafood! The kids got smoothies and the grown ups enjoyed wine!
We Learned:
Positano has a lot of stairs! It’s known for the Path of the Gods hike which we hope to return someday to explore!
Made Us Smile:
Watching a painter make a painting on the boardwalk by the beach and collecting lots of beautiful sea glass!
