Day 11 of #Inktober2023 word was Wander. This is a piece about wandering where you don't belong. Here, a curious treasure hunter has entered into the wrong part of the cave.

I am now behind and playing catch-up, but I'm going to try my very hardest not to let this get to me - I just have to accept it as there is a lot happening in the background.

Black ink was used in this, some diluted into a grey wash. Same paper, Bockingford 300gsm measuring 28cm x 38cm.

...Can you spot Smashy the #squirrel hiding in today's entry? I doubt so since today's squirrel hunt is VERY hard. Best of luck to everyone who tries! 🐿️

📏 What’s your go-to canvas size?

Varies, but usually 18x26 cm / 10"x7". My favourite paper is Bockingford hot-pressed and I tend to buy my watercolour pads in this specific size because it's big enough for detailed work, but small enough that I don't have to scan my works in two parts. If I work bigger than that, the size is typically 23x31 cm / 12"x9".

💐 Do your drawings suit your aesthetics?

Good question! I've heard people say I look like my art, but I can't see it myself beyond the fact that I have long hair and the same kind of hooked nose I've given plenty of my characters. :D I dress casual and rarely wear jewelry or makeup, and I wouldn't say I have an aesthetic of any kind irl. I make my characters wear all the showy, uncomfortable outfits so that I don't have to!

Design Trade I did a little while back-with @cl0wnfr0g

I find doing the main piece-like the body/face/portrait traditionally. Then scanning it in with my printer,to then digitally altering it-to fix up lines, add backgrounds or fix up where I've accidentally gone out the lines or to re-add highlights that have been lost.

Still waiting on the laptop so I'm playing with my watercolour pencils and my Microns. I also have a bunch of watercolour papers that want testing. This one's a cold-pressed 90lb Bockingford sheet. Little bit of buckling but not as much as I expected. Felt pretty nice to draw on, too, and the pencils got on really well with it.
