With the announcement of the Ra*bits climax event, fans decide to theorize about the possible meanings behind the MV that we'll discuss today.
A fandom project that has gained popularity, the "Ensemble Stars!! Cookbook" is currently in it's interest check, more information about this project ahead.
Want to know more? Stay with us

Ra*bits Climax Event
The MV for the newest Ra*bits event has been previewed, the song, "Parallel Mazes" happens to contain not only a detailed scenario but also references and winks to the past of the unit, the same way we saw Crazy:B's "Crazy Anthem" go through a similar process.
In a determined part of the video, we're able to see Ra*bits crossing a bridge while looking at their old selves, but the interesting part of it is the poses they make.
A couple of fans decided to discuss these poses trying to find their meaning, to what the conclusions so far have reached two different possibilities.
A user on Twitter ¹ deduced that their poses have to do with them imitating people that have had an important influence for Ra*bits individually, or, people that they look up to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, there's also another possibility that people have pointed out, and that is their similarities with Undead and fine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The argument behind this has to do with the analogy of Heaven and Hell that these two units form.
In any case, both theories have interesting funds, so let us know your opinion about them!

The Ensemble Stars Cookbook
The Ensemble Stars Cookbook is a zine leaded by Posebean, which consists in the recollection of food recipes with an Ensemble Stars theme, the information in their site states:
"Niki's cookbook is an upcoming unofficial cookbook fanzine centered all around cooking!
It will contain art, writing, merch all based off food, and self-made recipes that are specifically themed around various units/idols/groups of Ensemble StarsThe specs of the zine are still up in the air and will be finalized after the interest check has concluded, as well as whether the zine will be for profit, for charity, or both.More detailed information can be found in our Primary Info Doc, as well as application guidelines and contributor expectations.
The goal is to have at least one recipe per unit and one recipe per member of Niki’s kitchen (except for Niki, who should have 2 recipes). There may also be other recipes themed after shuffle units, circles, dorms, other characters in general, specific events, and etc… if all of the goal recipes have been filled.
There will be art pieces to match some of the recipes, as well as stand-alone art pieces with the theme of cooking and food. Small anecdotes written in the character’s perspectives will be scattered throughout, and writing will be short scenes also centered around cooking and food." (Niki's Cookbook via Google Docs) ¹
As mentioned before, the project is currently in its interest check phase, so we encourage everyone interested to fill it out and contribute. The form can be found in the project's social media.

Whats your thoughts on Mami Tomoe in general? I dont like PMMM but Mami does interest me alot as a character concept: a veteran MG who took other, younger MGs under her wings to guide them; whom sees enough shits in her time that shes gone somewhat unstable but keep up a facade of cheerfulness to comfort her students. Im intending to create a character using this concept as well.
I wanted my character to have her Happy Ending - the rest of her younger teammates as well. I think it'd be rather ironic to base her on a dark MG while she belongs to a lighhearted Magical girl story. Shes still in a vague designing state, with a concept and some basic traits and backstory. I wanted to her to be a MG veteran who saw some serious shits during her younger days too, but with help from her mascot (who is not the bad guy in this story) and eventually the MGs whom shes teaching, shes healing from her past traumas and is on the road to a beautiful future.
I know there are other MGs from other shows that are good mentors for their team, but weirdly enough Mami was the first one who introduce me to this concept (PMMM was also the one to introduce me to the Maho Shojo gerne, but I dont like it so I evetually follow Pretty Cure instead, best choice ive ever made) so shes the one I pick to base my character on. Mostly for the ironic part.
I absolutely adore her. I even had a sideblog entirely dedicated to her back when this account got temporarily deleted, just to have any idea of how much I loved her. Heck, one of my self-inserts was inspired by her, too.
One of the many reasons why I love Mami could dial back to Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon's Kino Makoto/Sailor Jupiter. A strong yet sensitive girl who has lost her parents on a tragic accident and now craves the feeling of a family with the friends she makes.
Tumblr media
Mami is indeed a fascinating character herself, and I think her death, while understandably haunting the narrative afterwards at least, was very disrespectful (she died in the span of ONE episode! Right after she debuted!) and the jokes that were relentlessly cracked by everyone and their mother for 10+ years are not funny at all.
Imagine if I were to crack jokes about Flapjack's death. You guys wouldn't like them, would you?
Tumblr media
No, you guys wouldn't like them. It'd be cruel and done in bad taste.
Anyways, back to Mami...
She's the cool and experienced onee-san/senpai type of character, approachable and friendly; she's skilled and graceful, plus with an epic theme tune to boot. Of course, her calm and collected persona is just a mask that hides how terribly lonesome and scared she is. To quote Bebe in The Rebellion Story:
"Mami is a real crybaby. She gets lonely super-easy; I know, I know."
Homura's description is more in-depth, though:
"She would always put on a strong front and push herself too hard, despite having the softest heart of any of us."
This vulnerability of hers is more explored in Magia Record, though. She joins the Wings of Magius so she could help in finding a cause to save her friends from despairing and becoming Witches, as she feels guilty for dragging them into such a hostile world.
Except that the WoM's methods were very cultish, thus causing her to be brainwashed and used as a puppet, distance herself from the ones she was supposed to guide and protect, and when she'd be challenged by outsiders, she'd quickly lose her cool.
Tumblr media
Turns out that no matter the timeline/universe, Tomoe Mami will always be the first one to crack at the revelation.
Tumblr media
And I like that, because it makes her morally grey, which it's something quite rare in the Magical Girl genre. She wants to save her friends, but she has participated in dangerously unorthodox methods to achieve such an end.
Anyways, I've been rambling about Mami for too long, that I've forgotten your concept. Sorry! Your idea is amazing! My followers having galaxy-brained suggestions, as always!

Do you have any manga recommendations?
Oh yes! Yes I do! I have a lot of recommendations, actually! I'll put it in keep reading because this post is gonna be loooooong.
Slice of life/Seinen manga:
Hirayasumi: story about a young ex-actor who inherited a little house from one of his only friends, an old lady he met by random.
Skip to Loafer: country bumpkin meets city guy, but this time it's a deep exploration about teenagehood, what it means to work towards your dream, and the complex social situations teenagers have to deal with besides just romance.
Shiori Experience: bumbling English teacher Shiori gets haunted by the ghost of Jimi Hendrix. Because of that, she needs to rise to stardom before she's fully 27 as that will be when she dies. (Fantastic art work, amazing paneling, highly recommend!)
Wonder Cat Kyuu-chan: cute, relaxing 4koma about a smart and competent little cat and his easygoing owner.
Embrace Your Size: autobiography about the artist growing up in a very fatphobic Japan. A short, sweet read. CW: eating disorders, fatshaming.
Yotsubato!: a true slice-of-life manga about a single father and his adopted daughter and their day-to-day escapades.
Sweetness and Lightning: another manga about a single father and his daughter, but this time centers around the dad learning how to cook for his kid now that his wife passed away.
Hakumei to Mikochi: story about a race of little people living in the woods among anthropomorphic animals. Amazing worldbuilding and attention to details.
Romance manga:
A Bouquet for an Ugly Girl: sweet but self-deprecating "ugly" girl meets sunshine puppy dog guy. A story less about changing ones' appearance and more about gaining self-confidence.
The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy At All: cute story about a preppy girl having a meet cute and developing a crush on the nerdy girl in class, but she thought she was a cool emo guy at first.
Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to: genderbend isekai, but it's actually very gay and very good! Can't say much else, but the comedy is on point and the two leads are super closeted it's insane.
Majo-Senpai Nichijou: in a modern fantasy setting, a businessman falls in love with the witch in his department. A very sweet romance.
Ajin-chan wa Kataritai: another modern fantasy setting where a school teacher finds out that his school has several fantasy creatures as students. Has a really nice romantic build up (not with the students) and cool worldbuilding.
Beware of the Villainess!: actually a manhwa about a woman who got reincarnated into a villainess of some pretty sketchy romance novels. Sick of all the horrible male leads, she sets off on her own to make a life for herself.
Action/Adventure manga:
Kuutei Dragons: a massive, expansive world that has a culture in dragon hunting. Fantastic worldbuilding, creature art, and character writing.
Dungeon Meshi: an adventure party has to travel deeper into the dungeon to rescue the male lead's sister who was eaten by a dragon. Another manga with amazing worldbuilding and character/creature art.
Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi: normal guy gets isekai'd, but he's not a hero at all. He's just a dude whose skill is grocery shopping online and he gets roped into cooking for mythical creatures somehow.
Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: human boy gets adopted by devils and gets sent to devil school. Actually really sweet!
Natsume Yuujinchou: human boy who can see spirits receives a book of names from his late grandmother. Names have power, and those names belong to spirits who would do anything to get them back.
One Piece: top best selling manga of all time that's been going since 1997. It's still good, believe it or not.
Gintama: another old classic. One of the funniest gag manga I've ever read, though sometimes the jokes get too rambly but that depends on your taste. Aliens have invaded Edo Japan and almost all samurai have been wiped off the face of the Earth!
I have so many others I'd like to recommend, but for now I hope you'll find something good among all I've listed.

Doodling some ideas for what I think bishoujo senpai might look like and I thought this one was cute

You don’t have to answer by the way if it’s not something you particularly focus on in enstars story.I however like the way you write your posts what do you think of akiras handling of sexism within the story.in parallel world seven gates, blackjack and somewhat in bankara and secret service we learn that as well as underground idols female idols especially are ostracised within the idol industry and the creation of ensemble squares further widened the gap between male and female idol groups.it’s kind of hypocritical for an organisation like we that claims itself to be a utopia for idols yet only push members of one sex to success.parallel world as a story and how it ends also slightly rubbed me the wrong way too i don’t know but again what do you think.
I'm flattered that you like my meta posts but I. Have not read any of the stories that you've mentioned besides Secret Service so I don't have an opinion on how the topic is handled in those stories and it wasn't something I really...noticed in my read-through of Secret Service (though if you have specific chapters that it's mentioned in I can give it a re-read and give you my thoughts on it).
Overall though I'm not exactly expecting Ensemble Stars to really tackle the topic of sexism and women idols so I'm not really. Disappointed that it doesn't address the topic, though it would be great if they did. The two characters that we do have that are women are Anzu and Arashi and I do wish we got more out of the producer course for Anzu like there has to be other producers coming out that can help her and like I know she loves the ES idols but she spreads herself so thin she really needs that help and having like. One Anzu-lite character per agency even would help a lot with that and allow her to focus more on Trickstar (which we know is the unit that she wants to focus on given the events of ! era). I do think her writing sometimes is the result of some sexism and misogyny within the writing team and also just the result of Enstars feeling like an otome with just one "player insert" protagonist who has to interact with all the characters which is a whole other discussion.
As for Arashi, I do appreciate that she does get to be a well rounded character in general just by virtue of being a member of Knights (a very popular unit in and out of universe) and I enjoyed Fragrance for her a lot, showing her more vulnerable side that isn't entirely sure about what she wants but that her friends in Knights & Akiomi are still willing to support her no matter what and want to push her towards her goals. When they actually like. Try to tackle trans stuff it can be kind of hit or miss. I wish they'd actually allow her to at least socially transition more and give her more feminine roles and stuff that she has expressed IN THE STORIES THAT THEY WROTE as wanting to do. Like the whole reason she's so attached to Akiomi is because she was able to take on more feminine roles with him in their modeling days and she wasn't just shoehorned into handsome boy roles. Let her be the princess she wants to be oh my god. Ideally we could examine transitioning in the public eye in Japan (with like. Sensitivity readers for the stories to oversee them and give their input on it) with her and let her start both socially and medically transitioning after graduation.
This ended up way off topic oops. I do wish Enstars would maybe introduce a girl idol unit or something (a collab with another game like Bandori or D4DJ could even get the ball rolling on tackling stuff like this narratively) and get deeper in the discussion of misogyny within the idol industry especially wrt expectations placed on women that aren't placed on men, especially if it is mentioned in the stories themselves. I know bishoujo-senpai is mentioned in Parallel Maze and I'm curious what they'll do with her character in the future after the uh. Mess that was her characterization in Romantic Comedy (imo anyway...), but I can't speak as to the stuff mentioned in those stories you mentioned because like I said, I haven't read any of them yet. I read most !! era stuff (besides anything Crazy:B related) as it comes to the English server so it'll be a while until I get around to it. I would love for them to examine the misogyny inherent in their game's premise but it's not something I am expecting so it's not entirely disappointing that the discussion isn't there.
