Hey! It’s my oldest prompt! I haven’t posted anything new for a while, but I have been writing like crazy in the last few weeks. I wanted to let you all know what I’ve working on. This fic; “The second time,” plus a personal essay that will be exclusive to the MSR fanzine. And also, please look out for my new biMulder at Oxford fic that is also in progress. ( Guys, there is some dude on dude action, but please please give it a try! I’ve been working so hard on it!)

The Second Time

Summary: After Mulder and Scully are caught in a rainstorm outside of Scully’s apartment, they look for ways to warm up. Fluff/Smut/light angst

Rating: NC-17

A/N: In my canon Mulder isn’t deathly afraid of fire. (I think he was only afraid of it in one episode anyway, kinda like he was only colorblind in one episode)

Scully feels the THUMP THUMP of her heart beating loudly as Mulder pulls up to her apartment. The stillness inside the cabin of Mulder’s car makes Scully feel a kind of awkward anticipation. Things are still new between them; new and undefined. Both of them struggling to make sense of change in their relationship. The pressure drops, and the air fills with a heaviness; will he try to kiss her now? The way his dark eyes spark creates a delicious thrumming low in her belly. It makes her remember things.

Last week they made love for the first time. Her cheeks still flush hot at the memory. That night he had gotten a little too close, and she had lingered on his couch a little too long. At first only their thighs touched, then their hands, and finally their lips. Soft, and then insatiable.

That night she decided to be bold; to hold out her heart for him to take.

“I want you.” A harsh whisper against his gasping mouth. “And I’m tired of pretending that I don’t,” her forehead leaned against his. This their most intimate gesture. “Aren’t you tired?” Her question turned his eyes into burning coals before her.

“Yes,” His voice held seven years of hunger; yet there was sweetness in the way his nose nuzzled hers. “So tired.” With that, their mouths clung and released over and over again. Mulder pawed at her breasts inelegantly and bunched her skirt up around her waist. Only necessary barriers were removed. Fingers hooking, sliding her panties to the side. Moaning as the head of his cock collides with her clit; their pulses beat in tandem. When he finally entered her, Scully felt his erection like steel, stretching her, opening her up. Then pings of pleasure, waves of rapture. They cried out together. She sobbed at the sheer rightness of it.

Scully bites her lip against the memory, wanting to recreate it, perfect it.

“Well, goodnight.” Mulder says softly and he leans over just a little, as if he were waiting for Scully to meet him halfway. She comes a little closer, their breaths mingle in the middle.

“Um, goodnight.” she says, tilting her head just so. Waiting for him this time. The music on the car radio goes from melodic to heavy and discordant. It breaks the mood of the moment between them.

“Uh,” Mulder scratches the back of his head. “Do you want me to walk you in?” There is a shyness to his words, but also a sense of cautious hope.

“I- I’d like that.” Her answer is simple, truthful. He smiles before circling around to open her door. It’s not like he hasn’t opened her door before, but this time it feels different. Drops gather on the shoulders of his tan trench coat

“Tut tut, it looks like rain,” Mulder says as he pulls her onto the curb. Now they stand for a moment, just looking at each other. Her mind snaps a picture of Mulder in the misty evening dew. Scully thinks about how good he looks ( maybe she thinks about how good he looks always) .

“The forecast didn’t call for it though.”

“I never understood how someone whose job it is to predict the weather could be wrong so much of the time and still get paid.” He smirks at her, as if to say ‘Hey, laugh at my joke, I want to see you smile.’ So she does, and he smiles too.  

“It’s kinda like trying to predict what you are going to do next, Mulder.” They walk slowly, even as the raindrops get a little heavier, as if trying to prolong their time together. “You are something like this storm.”

“Oh, I think after all these years, you must have me pegged.” He tugs at her hand and she stops before they get to the door of her apartment building. The earthy smell of springtime rain fills up her senses. Even though she doesn’t want to, Scully can’t help but think about getting kissed in the rain. By Mulder. Her sensible side tells her that she just saw too many John Cusack movies in grad school. Her heart tells her something else.

There is a loud CRACK, then the BOOM HISS of the clouds letting the rain down. An unexpected springtime storm.

“Come on, let’s get inside.” He calls, tugging at her hand. Shocked by the sudden deluge, they laugh as they run towards her door. Scully is reminded of their first case in Bellefleur, Oregon. His hair is plastered to his scalp in just the same way, making him look boyish and unscathed by life. Things were new then too, but a different kind of new.

it’s been quite the year for me, and i have you all to thank! i’ve gone through quite the fandom transition this year (anime has kinda re-taken over my life – thanks naruto!!!), and i’ve strayed away from my roots a bit. there are people that have stuck with me from the beginning, and it’s just amazing to think this blog is six years old now, the time flies!
