soapgaz debating on a movie to watch one night, about to give up and just turn on whatever’s on cable, before a passing recruit suggests bill and ted’s excellent adventure. they’d never heard of it before and decided it must be better than animal planet or a footie match neither of them cared about.

collectively, they decide it’s the best movie they’ve ever watched. the shitty effects, the 80s american slang, the pure stupidity of the two main characters, it’s amazing.

they make price and ghost watch it with them, cackling like madmen the entire time, sitting criss cross the on the floor in front of the tv like toddlers. they look to the older men with expectant smiles when the movie ends, practically vibrating in excitement.

“you know they made a second part, right?” ghost asks.

he comes to regret that.

it’s all the two talk about, those horrendously stupid movies, together and apart. they’ll only leave each other’s side by saying “catch you later, dude!” when they get excited they do air guitars, any time one of them come in contact with a hostile on missions they’ll snicker and murmur “lad thinks he’s chuck de nomolos” they start using the slang unironically, rad and excellent and heinous become a part of their regular vocabulary

they both practically explode when they find out there’s an animated series. they stay up all night binging it, and then they watch the movies again, even if they pass out during abraham lincoln’s speech on san dimas.

price thinks it’s stupid, ghost thinks it’s endearing. neither of them say anything though, because why would they take away something that brings the sergeants so much joy?

(they’re on leave the night of halloween. gaz dresses up as bill and soap dresses up as ted, both of them doing their best accent. right before they press play on their movie there’s a knock on the door. it’s ghost, fully decked out as rufus, he’ll never forget the smiles he got for that.)

Tell me a fun Bill and Ted fact? I know nothing about them really

Bill and Ted is such a fascinating franchise to me bc it's Super Obvious that a majority of people's awareness of it begins and ends with the first movie - Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure - and yet there is so much to uncover about these dudes. There are three films, one novelization, like 7 comic series, a cartoon that ran for 2 seasons, a musical, a live action show that ran for 7 (bad) episodes, like 3 video games, and a pretty longstanding run as a Halloween Horror Nights show.

They're also extremely fun characters because there's like, such a prevalent tendency to generalize their character types, but they're actually Super specific personalities. Like, Bill and Ted don't ever use the words 'rad' or 'bro' nor any 'surfer lingo' or 'valley speak', they're not ever sarcastic/ironic they're like Painfully earnest constantly (the writers even specified that Bill and Ted are "these innocents who would wander wide-eyed into any situation and treat everyone exactly the same - completely open, completely friendly" and the Director also refers to the 'Puppy Factor' wrt Bill and Ted, meaning they should both "Be like big Labrador Retrievers who just bounce along and love life",) they Do use the word 'dude' nigh constantly BUT people always underestimate how often they'll use each other's names equally as often, and also they're really not slackers or deliberately dismissive of schooling/education - they are trying really hard, they just genuinely struggle/can't learn things right (you can tell they even kind of Value it because they do make an effort to use like, Expanded Vocabulary, it's just that they don't always fully understand the words so they'll use them wrong on accident) - i just love them so much

#'fun' in a way that's like ogh i could talk about it for forever but also the mischaracterization is SO prevalent that i'm like #any time i venture into the tag i'm like losing my mind just a little bit ack #one of my Favorite moments of characterization for them tho is in the third movie when the great leader is like basically #'20 yrs ago you performed this Huge concert at this really fancy venue. and then 2 months ago you performed at some shitty open mic'#and bill and ted are like 'yeah we did!!' and are equally excited about both mentions bc they make NO distinction between the two #and don't consider one to be more or less important than the other bc they just Genuinely like performing music and it doesn't #matter at all to them the context of that performance OR the audience reception to it bc they love music so much that all the rest #is just noise to them - aughhh i love them so much #also AUGH thank you for asking <3 #bnt

- Hero and villain? Check. Two sides of the same coin? Check. Enemies-to-lovers? Check. Back to enemies again? Check. I am actively rotating them in my head like all day. I want to explain my obsession with them, but the only way I feel I can get it across is grabbing someone in the face and screaming. But legit, it’s the “I love you, but not enough to change” “I love you, but not like this” “You’re the first thing that was mine” and looking at someone and seeing them for who they are beyond the outside and loving what you see, but your ideas/desires/destiny is too great to ignore. This a ship where all ends are satisfying—in canon, they’ll never get a happy ending because their story is literally the love wasn’t enough, but sometimes I just like to imagine what could be if things were a little different. Dabi and Hawks both need someone to look at them and *actually* see them, to think that they’re worth something as themselves and not what they can do and, I think for a little while, they both get that from one another, but like every other person in their life, they picked something else rather than the other and that hurts so nice. I also just think they should fuck nasty.

- The person who tagged me is stronger than I am for not putting an OC-ship in their response. Zu’zu is my slutty catboy bard and G’raha Tia is his nerdy over 100-year old boyfriend from FFXIV. It’s about falling in love with your heroes and then falling in love with a person. It’s about “I want to go with you through thick and thin” and “my place is by your side” and “there’s no where else I’d rather be than with you” and “take me with you” and “love me for the quiet moments too”. The moment is Shadowbringers where the cowl comes off and you can call him by his name and he *cries* is literally everything to me. The idea of waking Raha up in the Source and then he just never wants to spend a moment away from you? Beautiful. Zu’zu found someone he connects with and rather than pushing it away in the face of “saving someone” from heartache like he did the first time, he loves and loves and loves Raha wholeheartedly because the future isn’t promised, but I want to spend right now with you. I’m excited to see how Dawntrail goes and spend more time with Zu’zu’s dweeb of a boyfriend.

- Literally, again, enemies-to-lovers is everything to me. No one understands me like you do and there is no one else who matters and no me without you. Literally read the first chapter of Gideon the Ninth and was just obsessed. I am gnawing on Gideon like a good bone and I’m spinning Harrow in a salad spinner. Two kids having to be bigger than they are and they fool everyone, even themselves, but not the other. Harrow the Ninth being from Gideon’s POV and just how she sees Harrow and how she knows her and how she *adores* her in her own way just makes me fucking feral. And how Harrow recognizes Gideon even when she’s not herself and how there’s a part of her down in her bones that knows Gideon, *loves* Gideon is just making me shake. I want them back together in the same room and want to watch them scrap like a pair of feral chickens and maybe, if Tamsyn is kind to me, I can finally get them to kiss* in the worst way possible.

- Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure

- It’s a fun movie, we needed to put something on and it’s on the plex and so we put it on. Only watched it for the first time like a year or two again and I enjoyed it. I saw the Universal Halloween Horror Nights Show (mind you, the last show they did) before I saw the actual movie.

Currently Watching

- Fall of the House of Usher

- Weird feelings about this show. It’s certainly something and it’s certainly making me feel things. I’m morbidly curious about this show and I want to finish it before Netflix gets rid of it like they did Midnight Mass (which was such a good show). Fun to see Mark Hamil.

- The Bayou

- I started this book, like, months ago, I think before I started school this semester and I still haven’t gotten more than a few pages into it. Been really into American Southern Gothic and roommate recommended this to me. One day I’ll finish it, maybe after finals.

- Pom Pomegranate Tea Lemonade

- My fucking crack shit I love this juice so much I buy, like, four bottles of it whenever I see it in the grocery store and they’ve stopped carrying it at all of the ones I shop at and so I’m not hording it like a dragon

Hello! Hello! Time for the deadzone late night thoughts for tonight.

Tonight's theme I guess is ten things about lil old me.

Well, one can be a intro I guess. I'm AJ! My age is 26, and I'll be 27 on the 28th of September. I'm a afab nonbinary person, and I use they/them pronouns. I'm also bisexual.

Okay for two how about some media stuff! I love books! Real books, art books, comics, and graphic novels/manga I own all sorts of books. Some favorite books varied by the types I own: The Outsiders (Real book), the art book for Angel Sanctuary, The Sandman (Comic), Low (Graphic novel), and Naruto (manga ) [Some of these picks are either books I really like, or some I have multiple books of. I have some other favorites on the shelf too, but I can't name them all.]

How about music for three! I love rock, metal, and alternative music! But I'm not super picky though I'll listen to anything as long as it's good. But Rock, metal, and alternative are my favorites though. One of my favorite bands is "The Beat Crusaders."

Let's go to movies next. My favorite genre is horror, and my second favorite is comedy, or adventure. Favorite horror movies first!: Hellraiser(the original), The Ring, The Void, and Saw. Now for a misc. favorite movies: Bill, and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Ghost in the Shell (The original), Blood the Last Vampire (The original as well), and The Matrix.

Now for some videogames! I love visual novels, strategy, rpg, and farm games. Some favorites are: Stardew Valley, Pokémon, Yume Nikki, Fire Emblem. Visual novel wise here are those: Twisted Wonderland, Obey Me!, BTD/TPOF, (I have more, but I just haven’t played them yet, or I just feel super strong about them as these.) Also DoL is going on me too, but that's a text based adventure.

Art wise I know how to do digital, traditional drawing/painting, sewing, and hand embroider. My art programs are version 1 of clip studio, and a xp-pen artist 13 monitor tablet.

I've kept most of my artwork from when I was a little kid to now. It's always humbling to see where I came from. I love redrawing them occasionally seeing how my wild ideas change over time.

Let's go to food! I love savory foods my faves are fish and pizza. I'm lactose intolerant and allergic to coconut. I don't really like chocolate, red velvet cake, baked beans, and lima beans.

My favorite colors are fall colors , and some Halloween colors, and silver.

Why I made this blog. I needed somewhere to just chill and make fun stuff. Mostly to practice certain types of art (leaning towards nsfw), and to throw sketches to the void since I'm proud of the process of my art and I just like showing how things are coming along.
