@cerulean-volcano: A certain Typhlosion would find himself sitting at Solaris’ bars counter. Between the summer rush at his shop and taking care of Eva, he was feeling some of the stress of life piling on, enough so that he felt a need for a drink. Though this was half the reason he was here, the other half was to check in on Solaris. Work and life had kept the two separated for a bit and he wanted to make sure the Charizard was doing alright. Which is why Karie tried to shoot for a time window where the bar would be rather light on patrons when he came in.
Solaris would look at the door when Karie entered. The Charizard would look away, his face turning a shade of red. He had some thoughts the past few days, feelings that came to the surface that he didn't know were real or not. Seeing the Typhlosion made Solaris' heart race, and when he approached the bar Solaris tried to play it cool.
"Uh... H-Hey Karie. What's up?" Solaris asked, his voice cracking and his cheeks remaining a rosy red.

[deep breath]
i just spent a significant amount of time putting together (a) timeline(s) for every piece of sonic media i can think of minus the racing games because... idk it doesn't matter that much
points of interest under the cut, follow the image link for full size!
origins shows that cd came before sonic 2
just pretend sonic 4 episodes 1 and 2 are classic games. they're styled like classic games and apparently intended to be direct sequels to sonic 3&K
sonic boom is what happens when they go modern but wrong
alternate "forever classic / young" timeline made by phantom ruby fuckery
sonic advance 2 has to take place before sonic adventure because in sonic x (based on adventure) sonic already knew cream
solaris' flame existing causes sonic 06 to happen but it got deleted when they went back in time in Sonic 06 so therefore that never happened
Sonic 06 time fuckery caused displacement with silver and blaze, making silver really confused and placing blaze in the sol dimension i guess
sonic rush and sonic rivals therefore have to happen before the storybook titles because in alternate modes versions of blaze and silver are available and iirc every alternate character in those worlds are based off of sonic's memories of his friends
at least sonic and the secret rings has to happen before colors because sonic directly references "saving genies in magic books"
sonic generations classic sonic is sonic's younger self (likely from sonic 2 due to the absence of classic knuckles and him being mute)
the chao in space short can just be sonic chilling. let him chill. he never gets to chill
sonic lost world has to happen before forces for zavok to be in the picture
idw sonic starts right after "the eggman war" which i presume is sonic forces
sonic prime has to happen before sonic and his friends are separated in sonic frontiers
knuckles then disappears due to what happens in the prologue short
... sonic frontiers happens
i presume that this has taken place over the course of 2 years at the very least due to sonic canonically having a birthday in sonic generations and sonic's birthday seeming to be a pretty big deal in sonic frontiers with all the cosmetics and attention given to it, but looking at all this this has to have happened over a longer period of time because wow that's a lot of shit
there's gotta be another one between sonic blast and sonic advance because there's a shift in style and it feels appropriate
feel like there'd be a significant amount of time between sonic adventure 2 and sonic heroes
something happens between shadow the hedgehog and sonic rush. feels like a good place to put a divide
probably a gap between sonic unleashed and sonic free riders
sonic lost world and sonic forces are so different plus I think there was an irl big gap there
there had to be enough time between the end of sonic forces and sonic prime for everything to be kinda okay again
so that's… maybe 5 or 6 years for all of this? that feels about right. still hectic but y'know

If you had full creative freedom for a brand new Sonic cartoon, what would you do with it?
This is by no means a complete list of what I'd do, but it gives you a general idea all the same.
- Since Sonic X was long ago by this point, I think it'd be nice to have another attempt at an anime, particularly if it looked something like the OVA or the animated intro for Riders. The actual art direction would basically take the Modern designs, but place them in a world that combines the best visual elements of SA1 and the Classics/Advances/Mania.
- I don't care if the writers are Japanese or American. Treating one as better simply because they're Japanese/American is a tad too elitist and extremist IMO, especially since neither of them have perfect marks when it comes to writing for this franchise. Whoever the writers are, all that matters is that the writing is good.
- It would have a lot more in common with the game universe. Since there have been so many adaptations that practically make a point about doing their own wacky thing (even the ones that claim to be linked to the games...), I think a more genuinely faithful adaptation would be welcome. There would be minor differences of course, and I'm open to taking notes from the better aspects of certain adaptations, but the overall spirit and characterizations would be reasonably consistent with the games.
- Stories would be brand new. Callbacks and references to existing plots is fine, and I wouldn't necessarily mind a show to the side that tackles adaptations ala Pokemon Origins, but overall, I'd rather have new refreshing adventures rather than adapt SA1/SA2 for the millionth time.
- The tone would pretty much be like SA1. Funny and tense in equal measures, never goes too far in either direction. Whether it's a funny moment or a serious moment, it would be sincere. Self-aware enough to be able to acknowledge the weirdness and be willing to poke fun at itself, but not to the point of being overly self-deprecating and pandering to the franchise’s detractors.
- The lore would connect certain plotlines to each other on SOME occasions, and only if the logic was reasonable and kept to a minimum. It would not be all tied together in an overly contrived manner that ends up leaving no interesting questions. In other words, the S3&K/SA1 connection through Angel Island's lore would be fine, but there'd be no “Did you know the Black Arms worshipped Solaris, went to war with Chaos, were the offspring of Dark Gaia, and wrote the Arabian Nights???” bollocks.
- Sonic, Tails, Amy and Cream would make up the main quartet, with their personalities and bonds bouncing off each other. Other characters would appear and be of importance, but only when their involvement is justified. Said characters including - but not limited to - Knuckles, Team Dark, the Chaotix, Blaze, Big, G-Merl, and even Tikal and Chaos.
- Likewise, Eggman and his Badnik army would naturally be the main villains. Other villains who aren't affiliated with him are free to exist and get their own time in the spotlight (as long as they're not shit and don't need to upstage the doctor to look credible), but Eggman is a plague to the world in spite of his eccentric qualities, and is treated accordingly. He does what he wants, and unless you’re Sonic and/or his friends, there’s not a thing you can do about it.
- Since they appeared in Sonic Forces Mobile, I would MAYBE be willing to include Tangle and Whisper if they were allowed. Starline too, but only if he keeps his simp privilege this time, if ya know what I’m saying. The Hard-Boiled Heavies would definitely be there, because they're too good to be only used once.
Regarding certain characters in particular:
- Sonic is not dumb. Nor is he an asshole. He can be rough around the edges, he can make hasty decisions depending on whether he feels it’s the right thing to do, but at the end of the day, he’s still as good a guy as any good guy could be, and as long as you’re not a villain or a Penders-tier asshole, he’ll be friendly with you. You’d still have to deal with quips of course, but that’s just how he is, right?
- Tails maintains his independent streak from SA1, but he still thinks the world of Sonic and would drop everything in an instant if the hedgehog ever needed his help. Though his more cautious approach occasionally clashes with Sonic being a little more gung-ho (albeit not to the point of flanderization), he always has full faith in his big bro.
- The handling of Amy's crush would be perfectly balanced. Not too overwhelming to the point of acting irrational and chasing Sonic like a loony, but not too downplayed to the point where it might as well not be there at all. That said, more focus would be placed on her other traits and interests, such as her tarot cards and her bond with Cream.
- Knuckles would still be prone to gullible and less-than-flattering moments, because it's Knuckles, but more focus would be given to his admirable attributes, like his expertise in translating ancient texts, and occasionally making good points when in an clash of ideas with Sonic.
- Shadow's backstory would remain the same at its core (though maybe without the aliens), but it'd be altered to be less edgy. For example, rather than getting capped, Maria would succumb to her illness, and Gerald's anger would instead be the result of feeling betrayed by G.U.N. for denying him the means/funds to be able to cure her.
- Metal Sonic is fiercely loyal to Eggman, but his identity crisis would also be on full blast, and eventually he'd realise the oxymoron of believing himself to be Sonic while working for Eggman. Rather than turn traitor and wear elf shoes however, Metal would try to rationalize this to himself... with insane results. Eggman knows about this, and would humor it as long as it benefits him. He'd probably also bring out the other Mecha Sonics now and then for no other reason than to confuse Metal even more. Because he's a dick.
- The Sol Dimension now includes Soleanna, which would be the main kingdom. (It's already got Sol in the name anyway.) Since Blaze would be the ruler because of this, his sadly means that Elise would probably have to get cut, but ah well. Due to the change in context, Solaris would be built up as the Sol Dimension's equivalent to Chaos, with more focus on their contrasts (Chaos is water while Solaris is light, Chaos looks aquatic/reptilian while Solaris looks like a bird, Chaos' turn to evil was caused by an ancient event while Solaris' turn to evil was caused by scientists, etc).
- If Silver were in this show, he'd be no more of a casual acquaintance to Blaze than he would be to Sonic. Instead, her tagalong would be Marine. Though Blaze would still get annoyed by Marine's antics at first, she would come around to gaining more respect for her whenever the situation justified it.

Chapter 5 - Unexpected Outcomes
RK stared at the broken, still malfunctioning robot across the lab, debating how best to deal with his early reactivation.  Of course, he was glad to see his companion moving and, well, mostly speaking again, but at the same time he knew the situation was precarious and needed to be handled correctly to avoid fallout.  Though, at least one uncertainty was answered with the other robot's second question.
"Who are you and what is your objective?  Why are you in this lab?"
He looked ready to strike, though RK wondered if it was because he didn't know the extent of his own damages.  At least he could read he was within Robotnik's lab, or what used to be his lab, anyway, which meant basic lines of communication were functioning.  Opening his own lines, he watched the single red eye glow as he allowed the other bot to read his model number and basic information.
"Metal Series 03: Metal Knuckles... according to my database, you are inactive." The blue robot lifted the remaining clawed hand, pointing a finger and demanding, "Explain."
RK let out a puff of air and moved towards the computer, responding, "There isn't enough time in two timelines to explain everything.  It'd be better if I just-” He stopped, however, when Metal Sonic moved back into a defensive position.  "I'm not looking for a fight, Metal.  You're badly damaged, let me help repair you."
"Where is Dr. Robotnik?  I should report to him to be repaired."
RK's brows furrowed.  Was his loyalty chip not destroyed in the blast, after all?  Then again, it sounded more like Metal Sonic was working off a bare minimal programming rather than any active decision.  He decided to test the waters.  "Robotnik isn't present, you'll need to authorize your own repairs."
The red eye glowed.  When it returned to normal, it looked towards the large computer and then back at RK, "authorization inaccessible.  Refer to Dr. Robotnik for further analysis."
Inaccessible. Not outright denied.  It was system damage, not the loyalty chip. "As I said, Robotnik isn't present, let me do an override so I can repair you.  Power back down and I can continue your repairs."  But once again, when he moved towards him, Metal Sonic went on the defensive.  He wasn't going to make this easy, was he?  "Don't make me fight you, Metal, even without your current damage I'd win."
"Is that a threat?"
"If you take it as one, it is."
Admittedly, he probably should have attempted to de-escalate the situation a bit better, rather than prompting a fight, but his need to punch something won out over his interest in keeping Metal whole.  Thus, when the blue robot moved back into an attack stance after his comment, he responded with his own defensive one, planting himself firmly in place and egging the other robot to try his hand.  It wasn't until the heavily off-balance, sparking bot was crashing into him that he was reminded how bad of an idea fighting him was.  Watching even more pieces shatter and dent, and even some snap off when the much larger warbot smashed him back into the ground, RK decided to hold the other one down to avoid accidentally damaging him further.
Unfortunately, realizing he was at a distinct disadvantage, Metal Sonic shot off the apparently still active laser in the middle of his chest.  It only grazed RK, as he rolled out of the way of it, but the sudden hole blasted through the roof of the lab and the house on top had RK ready to punch him a second time.  He didn't have time for those kinds of repairs!  And Chaos forbid anyone actually saw the beam of light that shot up through the middle of their house.  Doubling down on his grip to keep the other bot in place, he felt a quick zap of electricity before the glowing red eye below him went dark again and Metal Sonic stopped clawing at his arm with his one remaining hand.
It took him a moment to calm back down, especially once a puff of snow fell all the way through down to the lab, but with a sigh and grunt, he pulled the now inactive bot up and over to the charging station.  He wasn't sure if it was him or the use of the laser that caused Metal's short, or some other over-exertion that likely occurred, but he was equally concerned and relieved to see him quiet again.  At least he had an idea of what happened and would be more careful with repairs.  It seemed like his AI needed to be turned back on first.
“So did you do anything special over the break?”
A young mobian squirrel looked up from his backpack to face his friend, nodding, “Yeah, we went to visit some family out of town.  How about you?”  He pulled a notebook out and began scribbling, trying to pretend he was being productive while they talked.
His friend, a dark-furred bat, shrugged and responded, “Nah, we had family come here this time.  My dad wanted to make this big adventure out of taking them to see Solaris’ shrine but there was some kind of attack the day we were supposed to go.”
“No way, what happened?”
“Some kind of weird monster appeared around the shrine and nearly destroyed it before it was driven off.  I didn’t see it but I heard it was some kind of horned purple monster running rampant through the city.”
Itara turned an ear back towards the two classmates talking across the room. She’d been eavesdropping a little, but was about to stop when they mentioned an attack, assuming it was the one that happened in the shopping district.  She had heard nothing about this monster, though.  She would have to look further into it.  Later.  For the time being, she had to make it through the rest of the school day.  The two continued chatting about the incident, eventually moving into holiday topics Itara cared little about, and thus put an end to her eavesdropping.  Lunch was next, and then her robotics class after that, so she was closer to the easier half of the day.
As soon as the bell rang for lunch period, she packed up and, waiting until everyone else was gone as she always did, made her way out of the classroom.  There were several grades in the one school so they did lunch in blocks of two or three, meaning she only had to deal with the third and fourth graders.  She still preferred to be as far away from everyone as possible and it became considerably easier when RK packed her a lunch.  She didn’t even have to go to the cafeteria, she could head directly for the stairs at the back of the building and avoid everyone.
Once she was out of sight of her fellow classmates and the teachers assigned to watch them, she reached back to open her backpack and let Kipper free, watching him float up beside her as she sat down on the bottom two steps.
“You really shoulda let me scare those kids in your class,” the doll huffed, floating around in front of her as she pulled her little wrapped lunch out of her bag and opened it to see what RK packed.  “And clean your backpack better, it’s all cramped in there.”
“You’re the one who… followed me,” Itara stated, bored and poking at the bagel in her lunchbox.
“Well, yeah, cuz I thought you’d be more fun than Momma Bear.”  When she gave him no response, he continued, “you hear those kids talkin’ about the attack down in the city?  The one that almost destroyed your dad’s special little shrine?  Bet that’s buggin’ ya.”  He was looking to goad her into a fury and she knew it well enough.
“I did,” she frowned, setting the bagel back down after finally picking it up, “I want t-to look into it as soon as I can.  But the computer room’s being used right now, so I’ll have to check later.”  Looking over her lunch, she spotted the cookie packed underneath a pile of carrots and smiled, digging it out and munching on it immediately.  There were still issues she was working out regarding her dad, but his shrine being attacked was too important for her to ignore.  Could she convince RK to take her into that part of the city after school?
“What do you think it might have been, huh?  Maybe Robotnik?  Maybe Shadow remembered the past timelines and wants to destroy Mephiles before he can reappear?”  Itara visibly hitched at the suggestion, getting a grin from the doll, “maybe there’s some new enemy looking to lure your dad out and fight him.”
Itara put the remains of her cookie down, staring off, her brows furrowed.  Was it just a rampaging monster?  Or was someone directly targeting her dad?  Did her dad even know about it?  He hadn’t answered her since before the reset, even after the flux in her powers.  Maybe he was unaware of what was happening right now.  Shaking her head, she picked her cookie back up, “I’ll ch-check after school.”
Realizing he wasn’t getting the response he wanted, Kipper huffed in annoyance and floated back down to sit on her backpack, “yeah, whatever.  You weren’t more fun than the momma bear, after all.” She eyed him suspiciously, and then went back to her food, wanting to at least eat before lunch period ended.
On her way back, before the lunch bell rang again and Kipper was firmly stuffed into the bottom of her backpack, she caught sight of Sceira across the hall and narrowed her eyes, if only briefly.  Before she could fully formulate a trick to play on her this time, she heard quiet whispers of monsters from the other side of the hall.  Giving Sceira one final dirty look, Itara turned back around to follow the voices, realizing they were coming from the teacher’s lounge. Glancing around a quick moment, she pressed an ear up against the door to listen in on the conversation.
“…aren’t too far, are they?”
“Unfortunately not, no.  It looks as though someone’s on its tail but if it doesn’t stop it could run right by the school.  We should make sure the children stay inside until it passes.”
“First period lunch should be ending soon so we’ll just inform second and maybe third period that they need to remain inside during their lunches today due to the cold.”
“Yes, I think that’s best.  Please let the other teachers know, I’ll keep an eye on its progress from here.”
Itara’s eyes narrowed, but when she heard footsteps coming towards the door, she scrambled away from it, catching her own foot in the process and going tumbling face-first into the floor as soon as the door opened.  The teacher stared down at her, confused, while she remained in place for a moment, too embarrassed to move.
“Ms. Sheera, mind explaining yourself?”
Itara winced at the name but drew herself back to her feet, keeping her head down.  It was her least favorite part of still going to this school.  The constant reminder, all around her, right in her ‘name’, of the hedgehogs in the mansion. She did her best not to think about them, as it always caused a tightness in her chest that took hours to get rid of, but every time they used the last name she was enrolled with, every day when they took attendance, every single class, she couldn’t escape them. She couldn’t escape the fire she didn’t stop or even warn them about.
“S-sorry,” she stammered, keeping her eyes on the ground, “I j-just t-tripped when I was… as I was… passing by.”
Finally, the bell rang.
She could feel the teacher’s eyes on her, but she dared not look up, releasing her shoulders only when she heard them sigh and wave her on, “get on to your next class, then.” She nodded and turned to take off down the hall again, though watched her feet more carefully as she did, not wanting to trip twice.  Her nose hurt plenty from the first time.  On the way to class she huffed angrily and shook her head to rid herself of the thoughts, refocusing back on what she’d heard before her fumble. Something was headed for the school. Some kind of monster.  Was it the same one that had attacked before?  If she could just see the one coming towards the school, it might help her figure something out.  She had to see it.  Somehow.
But how far was it?  Someone was chasing it, what if they caught it before she could see?  She had to see, no matter what!  If she could just get out class… but she wouldn’t even know which direction they would be coming from.  There were telescopes set up on the roof for the astronomy club, if she could borrow one of those, maybe she’d be able to find it.
Perhaps a quick trip to the ‘bathroom’ was in order.
“You should have gone during lunch.  We’re starting our projects right now, it’ll just have to wait.”
Itara mentally huffed, but nodded and turned on her heel to go to her work station.  She would need another way out.  Maybe she could ask Kipper to create a distraction. Reaching her work station, she looked over the hefty, broken robot lying across the table and the line of tools hung up around it.  They had been studying the codes and basic mechanics of Robotnik’s discarded bots up until the winter break and were told they’d be working more hands-on once they got back.  Itara had an idea what this ‘hands-on’ project was now.
Once class started and everyone was where they needed to be, the teacher confirmed her suspicions by explaining that they would be repairing these robots back to basic functionality.  The core systems were removed so they were no longer Robotnik-loyal, so if they could get them functional again, they should basically be open-software chassis.
Suddenly. Itara had an idea.
Waiting just long enough for everyone to get started, she set her backpack up on the work table and informed Kipper of her plan quietly, using the clanking and casual conversations around the room as cover for her own.  Once he got the point, she set to work figuring out what she had to work with and what all was removed from the previous system, glad she only had to create a few minutes of distraction and didn’t need to actually fully repair the bot.  Her work on RK and Metal Sonic was about to come in handy in a new way, but she had to work fast to make sure she didn’t miss the monster.  Luckily, Kipper had been pining to cause some trouble all day and this could offer him an opportunity, as well.
Getting the basic movement functions and systems online, she let Kipper know what the bot should be able to do at its limited functionality.  With a quick warning about not causing too much damage, and only minor injuries to students were allowed, she let the ghost doll out of her pack and watched him disappear under the metallic skin.  She got a quick glance around before the robot’s eyes lit up, sitting up on the desk after a quick test of its limbs, and moved to get up onto its thick, blocky feet.  Itara feigned a jump back, catching the rest of the class’s attention, and as soon as the teacher moved forward to see what was going on, the robot lurched forward and swung with a long, clawed arm, sending both Itara and the teacher diving forward to avoid it.
“Itara! What happened?!”
“I-I d-don’t know!”  There’s only a ghost possessing a repaired badnik. I have no idea what it could possibly be doing.
The lumbering metal screeched against unused joints and Itara dove under the work station to get out of view while the rest of the students ran for the opposite side of the room and the teacher made sure everyone was out of harm’s way.  The red-eyed bot smashed through a nearby work station, sending parts and tools flying, causing further panic from the other students, giving Itara the opportunity to crawl away from her own and towards the further exit.  With Kipper’s rampage keeping everyone distracted, even going so far as to go running towards a line of students and smashing the giant badnik into the wall when they moved, Itara was able to slip out of the classroom easily enough.  She checked to make sure no one was coming yet before running for the nearest stairs, leaving the sounds of her classmate’s screams behind her.  Hopefully she wouldn’t get in too much trouble, but if she had to she could play the ‘maybe all its systems weren’t removed properly’ card to keep suspicions off her. Of course, even if they had been left in, she likely could have still repaired it without the robot rampaging, but only RK would know that.
In the meantime, however, she needed to get to the roof.  Everyone on the second and third floors were still in class so all she had to do was stay out of sight in the stairwell before reaching the roof.  She also had to check that no one was on the roof, either, but if the teachers were keeping everyone inside she didn’t think there’d be anyone out there.  Nonetheless, she gave a quick glance around once reaching it, nodded at the clear view, and ran out to where the telescopes were set up.
“Alright, now let’s see what we can find,” she stated aloud, pulling the cap and cover off while scanning the horizon.  She still didn’t know which direction to look in… but it didn’t take long to figure out. In addition to the downright commotion coming from the city side of the road, the monster that was being chased was giving off a powerful, dark aura that Itara could not only feel getting closer, but she could see it racing at an unimaginable speed directly towards the school.  There was also a line of G.U.N. foot soldiers chasing after it.  “Gotcha.”
Lining the telescope up, she moved it around to zoom in on the creature.  Just as her classmate described, the creature was lizard-like in shape and a deep purple and blue with a long spike coming out the front of its nose.  It ran on all fours but its front ‘paws’ were noticeably thicker around than its back ones and it shot out the occasional spike from its back to keep its chasers at bay, along with a horrible squealing noise that caused Itara’s ears to pin at the sound.
“What is that, though?  It almost looks like…”  As she contemplated it, however, she lost sight of the creature as it ran around a thick tree and vanished.  “Drat.” Moving the telescope around to try and catch it again, she only caught a quick glance here and there before it darted back out of sight again.  From what she could tell it was darting around and between trees and the outer lying buildings around the school.  The shouts of the G.U.N. soldiers started making their way to her as they drew near, though came as far off gibberish, rather than any kind of intelligible words. “Is it within the school grounds?”
Stepping back from the telescope, she walked to the railing, looking around for signs of the creature.  Its aura was still powerful enough for her to sense so she knew it was nearby, but she couldn’t see it anywhere.  She couldn’t even see its dark glow anymore.  As she was turning to check the other side of the building, however, a heavy thud landed behind her, causing her to freeze, the furious growl sending her nerves into a frenzy.
Well.  It wouldn’t be the first time she’d faced monsters down.  Just because she could no longer summon her own didn’t mean anything.  Letting out a shaking breath, she turned around to face the much larger-than-she-expected creature, eyeing her down with bright, glowing, red eyes.  Its lip curled back to reveal a row of black teeth and let out another low snarl, standing up on its hind legs to tower even further over the tiny hedgehog.
Not even Iblis’ Biter had been quite so tall; though, it hadn’t stood on its hind legs at any point, either.  At this distance, though, Itara became increasingly sure she knew who the monster belonged to… but not so much why it appeared.  Unfortunately, she had no time to question further or study it as the monster reeled back, its red eyes narrowing, as it prepared to pounce.
“N-No! B-B-Bad Nightmare!  D-Down!”
It gave no sign of understanding, however, as it only bared its black fangs once more and leapt. Itara quickly curled over, covering her head and preparing for the attack, knowing she had no hope of fighting back or running.  Suddenly, a shot rang out and before Itara had time enough to uncurl, she felt herself being grabbed around the waist and lifted up and away from the crashing monster. She heard its roar as it smashed into the telescope, likely shattering it, and bashing into the metal railings.  Another shot rang out, followed by a yelp and a second thud.  Itara kept her eyes shut tight until she felt whoever picked her up land again and even then waited until she heard them speak before she dared open her eyes.
“You shouldn’t be up here.”
“S-Sorry,” she stammered, her eyes shooting open as she also recognized the deep, slightly irritated voice.  She looked down at the red, black, and white shoes and long black and red legs above them and her ears pinned back in horror.  Keeping her eyes glued to the ground, she debated how to handle the situation, though the other hedgehog set her down on the higher ground of the roof after a moment.
“It’s dead now, at least.  You should get back to… class,” he continued, walking just ahead of her, talking quietly to himself as he wondered aloud, “something is happening around here, though. It may be best to keep an eye on things for now.”
Itara finally looked up, cautiously, at the tall black hedgehog with his back to her, studying him carefully with narrowed eyes.  He wasn’t even talking to her.  He had saved her, put her back down, and now had his back to her.  Was it possible… not even Shadow remembered? Surely he could at least sense something?  As curious as she was, she didn’t want to test her theory.  Not now.  Not here.  The last time she was caught off-guard around Shadow, without RK anywhere near, it… didn’t end well for her.  Instead, she only wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.
But she also wanted answers about the monster.
She knew what they were… but she didn’t know why.  Could Shadow possibly know?  Did she even want to ask him to find out?  Well, it could be for her dad’s sake, to find out.  Then again… it was for her dad’s sake, what happened before. Did she want a repeat that badly? At some point Shadow had turned back towards her, though by the time she zoned in enough to realize, he was giving her a strange look and she worried, for a brief moment, that he might have remembered her suddenly.
“There’s nothing to be afraid of,” he began, though sounded as irritated as ever instead of reassuring.  In a way, that was reassuring.  “That monster is dead and you’re fine.  There’s no need to react like that.”
Itara quickly straightened her expression and looked down, not wanting to cause any sort of suspicion.  “O-Of c-c-course,” she stammered, fidgeting with the bottom of her shirt to keep her hands busy.  “I-I’m not… I didn’t… th-thank you.”  That hurt to say.  She knew it was common courtesy to thank someone for saving your life, not that she figured Shadow of all hedgehogs expected thanks, he only ever did exactly as he wanted and it was never for gratitude.  But she didn’t want to come off as strange in any way, and instead started looking for a way off the roof to get as far away from him as possible.
Unfortunately, when he noticed her looking around, he walked back over to her, nearly sending her back into a panic.  “I guess I should help you back down,” he sighed, picking her up around the waist again and jumping back down to the observation deck before setting her back down again.  “There, now get out of here.  I have work to do and I’m not interested in babysitting all day.”
Itara resisted a huff.  She was no baby, she could watch after herself just fine.  Mostly.  But she only nodded and turned to run for the door leading back to the staircase… tripping on her feet once again and landing face first in the concrete.  Stupid, stupid feet and their stupid tripping! Why couldn’t she just float?!  Hearing a hum from behind her while she pushed herself back to her knees, she could no longer resist the glare she shot over her shoulder towards the black hedgehog, who turned away as soon as she did.  He was laughing at her!  Not out loud, but she could tell!  She’d show him!  …Someday. Again.
Having to take a quick, deep breath to calm herself, knowing emotional outbursts tended to cause her powers to flare, she took off for the door again.  Her nose hurt again, but her ego hurt so much more. How dare that idiot laugh at her?!
Once she was inside, back in the shade of the dark stairwell, she sighed and sat down on the top step, wanting to let her mood subside before she went back to class. That Shadow.  That stupid, stupid Shadow.  Just because he saved her didn’t mean he got to laugh at her.  She was relieved before that he didn’t seem to remember her, but now she greatly wished she could yell at him, berate him for not even knowing what the monster was.  She knew.  She saw the timeline it originally came from once.  He was clearly inferior for not knowing.  She would rant about this more later, to Kipper and RK.  But, she supposed, for now, she should probably return to class.  She didn’t know how long Kipper could keep up the distraction.
Sighing heavily again, she pushed herself back up, though slouched forward as she headed back down the staircase, glaring at the steps in front of her the entire way down. Her mood was soured and now she just wanted to go home.  Besides, she wanted to see what RK thought about both the attack in the city, as well as the monster that attacked the school.  She still wanted to see if she could convince him to take her into town to check out the shrine, itself, and see what else she could learn.  Shadow had one thing right, at least—that she already knew of course—there was certainly something happening around here again.
Were the other Gods active?

Harbinger didn't go to bars often. But he had heard that Solaris had one, and that well. He wasn't feeling okay. Even if Harbinger wasn't very emotive, it didn't mean he wasn't concerned. So he stopped by, waving at Solaris and giving his fellow fire type a small smile. "Heya." He said softly. His white glowing eyes, a creep factor to some, were gentle as the Flareon took a seat. "How are you feeling?" He asked, figuring he could go right to the point.
Solaris was wiping the bar down, finishing up when he saw Harbinger walk inside. The Charizard gave a wave back to the Flareon, admittedly getting a little lost in his glowing eyes before snapping back to reality at Harbinger's question.
"M-Me? I'm..." Solaris paused for a moment. "I'm just... I'm not feeling great. Zane's death anniversary... If you even want to call it that... Happened a few weeks ago and I've been trying to work through it. It happened a year ago, but it feels fresh in my mind still..."
The Charizard shrugged. "I don't know if that made any sense at all, but... Yeah..."

@illusionar-pantomime: After another successful rescue mission with the team, Panto would be walking through town, trying to find a spot to rest before returning home. His mind though would begin to race a bit as he picked up a familiar scent in the air. A scent he hadn’t smelled in a long time. He didn’t think it would be who he thought it was, but he would follow his nose to the source. Sure enough, Solaris was there, there with a familiar looking Marowak. The kits heart and mind racing, trying to keep composure as he approached the two, uttering a single word. “Zane?”
Zane and Solaris were on the deck of the mountain home, and the former would turn, instinctively freezing upon seeing Panto. It had been a while since they last saw the Zorua... Or in this Zane's case, Zoroark.
"Panto..." Zane said, going to reach out to him but pulling their hand away. "Panto... I'm not the Zane you know. I'm from a timeline that runs parallel to this one."
Solaris moved a bit uneasily on his feet. He could tell something was bothering Zane. "This Zane is here on a mission to save his timeline. It's... Been a bit rough for them, to say the least."
Zane turned to the Charizard. "Sol? Can you give me and Panto some time?"
Solaris looked at Zane, and nodded. "Of course. Take all the time you need." He said, entering the house and quietly shutting the door.
Zane took a deep breath, sitting on one of the chairs. "Sorry... It's just been... A few decades since I saw you for the last time..."

Solaris would slowly approach Zane's memorial statue. Tears had already begun forming in his eyes as he walked towards it. When he arrived at the statue he knelt down, placing a scarred claw onto the memorial's marble base.
"One year... It's been one year, since I... Since we lost you. Not a day goes by where I don't wish to see you again. Where I don't wish to hold you in my arms again. To see your smile... To..."
Solaris paused, taking a moment to wipe his eyes and sniffle. "...To talk to you again. To be near you again. To tell you that I love you. All things I wish I could do... But I can't." The Charizard's claws slowly slid down, coming to rest in his lap. "I couldn't save you... But now... I can't save anyone anymore... I just..." Solaris couldn't hold back his tears any longer, burying his head into his claws. "... I wish you were still here... To guide me... I feel so lost..."
The Charizard's cries filled the empty air. Unbeknownst to him, some lightning bugs began to fly in around him. One landed on his arm. Then two. Then three.
After some minutes, Solaris uncovered his face. "... Huh?" He looked around him, noticing all of the lightning bugs that now covered his body, all of them lighting up at the same time. The bugs stuck around for a moment, before dispersing and flying off. Some landed on the statue, and continued to illuminate it.
Solaris looked down at the flowers, then back at the statue. He placed a claw on the base once again. "... Rest easy, buddy... I love you. I'll always love you..." The Charizard remained still for another minute before he slowly stood up and walked away from the memorial.

Solaris would be running his bar during a busier night. The rehab of his arms was going well, but Solaris had noticed his hands were shaking a lot when he held things.
"Hurry up! I ain't got all night!" A rude Blastoise shouted at Solaris, holding a partially filled cup in his hand while holding onto two female patrons. The Charizard held the bottle up, and began pouring. But his claws shook so furiously that he ended up dropping the glass onto the floor. A few small cuts formed on his leg where the glass broke.
"God dammit! You ruined my drink!" The Blastoise then threw what liquid was in his cup into Solaris' face. What bothered the Charizard more was the fact that liquid got on to the display case where Zane's weapon was protected.
"Hey! Don't throw your drink at me, let alone get it all over this memorial spot! Learn some patience!" Solaris grabbed a towel, and was about to wipe the display case clean, when the patron decided to speak up again.
"Or what? You going to get your prissy boyfriend to come save you? Well guess what? He can't "cause he's dead!"
Solaris paused, and turned to face the patron. The normally soft look on Solaris' face was gone, replaced with eyes that shot icy daggers directly at the Blastoise. "You. Outside. Now."
"I ain't going nowhere! You want to take care of this now? We do it here!" The Blastoise watched as Solaris walked out from the bar, and stood in his face. "Oh, Mr. Big Tough Guy, here. Ain't this guy a joke?" The patron looked around the bar, noting everyone's concerned looks before his face was turned forcefully back by Solaris.
"You do not... Under any circumstance... Talk bad about Zane in this building ever again. They were a hero. My friend. My lover. What they were to me... Are all of the things you are so desperately trying and failing to find with these ladies." A few snickers rose from the room, and Solaris would reach over and grab the towel, placing it in the Blastoise's hands. "Now... Go clean the display case. I won't warn you again."
Solaris let go of the patron's face, turning back around to go behind the bar. But the patron never learned, and instead threw the glass in his hands at Solaris. "Asshole! I ain't doing no work for you! Think you run the fucking place! Where's the owner?"
The glass hit Solaris in the back of the head. Glass shards stuck into his head and neck, with blood beginning to trickle out of the small cuts and now large gash on his head. The Charizard sighed, and turned back around. "You're looking at him, you ignorant asshole." Solaris then slightly wobbled, and smacked the Blastoise on the bottom of his chin.
The slap made the patron stumble a bit, but he soon charged directly at Solaris. Solaris was ready, and grabbed and pinned the patron and put him in a headlock. After a slight struggle, the Blastoise was knocked out cold. Solaris let go, and sighed. After some time he stood up and faced the patrons.
"Everyone... I'm sorry, but please finish your drinks. I'm going to be closing up early. For... Obvious reasons." Solaris would walk slightly over behind the bar again, and held his head. Some tears formed in his eyes from a mix of the pain he felt in his head from a possible concussion, and from knowing that another hurdle was laid before him. One that possibly would never go away.

In between days of training, Solaris still had a job to do. His bar, The Caravan, needed to be run. So he took certain days off from training to operate the bar. Some days he would train and run the bar in the same day. It was one of these days that Solaris had an idea for a drink, a rarity for the Charizard.
Solaris would train in Honeysuckle deep in the woods. Every so often, he would stumble across apples that fell from a nearby tree. Some apples returned home, while others were eaten on site. The sweet taste of the apples, mixed with the slightly cool breeze as summer changed to autumn, reminded Solaris of his family's apple pies that were made during the cool months. Something that Solaris hadn't had in what felt like years. The reminiscing of his past sparked an idea, an alcoholic drink that captured the essence of a warm pie in a cold drink.
As soon as Solaris got home that day he began jotting down different combinations of alcohol and mix for a cocktail. Solaris had always had trouble coming up with his own drink mixes, and worried that the townspeople would become bored of the standard drinks he always served - gin and tonic, rum and cola... Drinks one could find anywhere. But this idea made Solaris excited. It was something that was his own, and one that he was certain would be popular. And after some trial and error, he found it.
Using water, the rim of a glass is made wet and dipped in cinnamon sugar. He then shook and mixed ice, vanilla vodka, cinnamon whiskey, fresh ground cinnamon, and fresh apple juice together. Ice was added to the cup, and the cocktail was strained into the glass. To top the drink off a fresh cinnamon stick was added as a garnish.
Solaris thought of just calling the drink Apple Pie Cocktail, but it didn't feel right. It didn't feel... Solaris enough. And so decided to name the drink after his late mother. Dinah's Apple Pie, he called it.
The night he debuted the drink, it was a smash hit with the locals. Not only that, but Florence and Audie went to the bar that night. What they got was not only a drink that could be enjoyed at anytime... But the amazing sight of Solaris smiling, and having fun for possibly the first time since Zane's death.
After the night was finished, and the bar closed, Solaris looked into the night sky. He made his own drink, one that was popular and tasted good. The Charizard felt a surge of joy in his body... No, his soul. He wondered what else he could come up with. He looked at the stars, and landed on Zane's nebula.
He knew what his next drink idea would be based on.

Zane would be sitting with Solaris in his room at Avett's clinic. The Charizard had finally come to after several days, and was in intense pain even with his arms bandaged and cooling cream applied all over them. Zane being there helped to keep Solaris somewhat distracted from the pain.
"Zane... I'm sorry I couldn't do more..." Solaris said, a slight groan escaping as he shifted his body to get more comfortable. "I felt kind of useless against Aphotic..."
"Don't be. You did everything you could given the situation. She did target you specifically, because of your powers." Zane lightly rubbed Solaris' chest. "I'm just glad we got you to Avett as quickly as we did. I know you're going to have a rather long recovery ahead of you... And I wish I could stay with you through it."
"Zane... It's Arceus."
The Marowak looked up. "Speak to me. What's up?"
"The Paradox Pokemon here in your timeline have begun dying off. I take it you and your team were successful?"
Zane nodded. "That's right. We got her taken care of. She won't be returning."
Arceus was quiet for a moment before continuing. "Good. Your Gods have begun their work on returning your Gaea to normal. I will be back to take you and Phoebe home in a few days. I will see you then, hopefully with a decision on what we talked about."
Zane looked down, and sighed. Solaris looked at them. "What is Arceus talking about, Zane?"
Zane looked at Solaris, and sighed again. "Arceus told me that you can get your Zane back... By using my soul as a base to remake them."
Solaris' eyes widened, and he slowly sat up. "What? But... You and Phoebe... Your world..." He looked down at his hands. "Is... Is that what you really want?"
"I've lived my life. My world is going to be relatively peaceful, so... There won't be a need for someone like me anymore." Zane sighed, "I only want what's best for you... Always have and always will... So if you want your Zane back, then you can have them back. It's not my choice to make."
Solaris' brow furrowed in anger, "It is your choice to make. After all you've been through... Why would you throw your life away?" Solaris leaned forward as much as he could, "Is this what you really want?"
Zane looked away. "I'm not throwing my life away by doing this. You... Morello... Bellum... You all deserve happiness. Me doing this is the best thing... For everyone."
The Charizard looked up, anger in his eyes and tears beginning to run down his face. He turned Zane around and punched them in the face. The Marowak crashed into the wall, slumping down into a sitting position. Solaris cried in pain, the bandages on his left arm beginning to turn red. He stared Zane down as his cheeks were stained with tears.
"We helped you to save your world... And now you're wasting the life you still have...? Why?! Why would you not want to have your own happiness? How dare you!" Solaris leaned back, breathing heavily. "I still think about you every single day... But I've found peace. You sacrificing yourself to bring my Zane back isn't going to magically refill the hole in my heart! It'll replace my Zane with you!"
Zane held their cheek, and was about to talk before being cut off by Solaris. "Your body language... The tone in your voice... You know the answer to my question! Now quit dodging it, and tell me. Is this what you really want?!"
Zane remained silent, and looked down. Tears began rolling down Zane's face. "Solaris... I... I..." The Marowak sniffled before continuing, "I want to go back home. I want to have more time with Phoebe... I want to mourn Sly... All I've wanted since we defeated Aphotic is to go back home..."
Solaris leaned back, and sighed. "Then do just that. You deserve the happiness... Way more than me." The Charizard grunted in pain. "Could you... Get Avett to replace these bandages?"
Zane looked up, and smiled. "Yeah. I got you."

"Jeez, Sol. What happened to you?"
Avett would be stitching and bandaging Solaris' head, while Solaris slowly ate a berry. Or at least try to, as he continued to throw up whatever he did eat. "A patron got upset at me when I dropped his drink. He threw his drink at me and it got all over the display case. He talked bad about Zane, and I... May have gotten a bit mad. When I told him to clean the case he threw his empty glass at me."
Avett sighed. "Well, your little adventure's landed you a concussion. You can barely keep food down right now, and you looked a little dazed coming in, so I may keep you here for a little just to make sure you're alright."
The Charizard himself would sigh. "I don't... Know if I'll ever be alright, Avett. I didn't accidentally push the glass off of my bar. It was in my hand... And it almost felt like my arm had a spasm."
Avett would pause, and cocked an eyebrow. "Tell me more, Sol."
"Hand me those books over there." Solaris pointed to a couple of books on a shelf. The Machamp obliged, and handed the books over. As soon as Solaris had them, Avett saw the books shaking in his friend's claws. "When I hold things... My hands shake... Almost uncontrollably. And after a while... I get this shooting pain and I drop whatever I'm holding." After a few minutes, the books were dropped and Solaris whined in pain while holding onto his hands.
Avett would frown. "Solaris..." He paused, before resuming his stitching. "Those tremors... They don't go away. It's a neurological problem... Even with our technology and ways to heal... We aren't advanced enough to treat those conditions."
Solaris sighed. "Dammit..."
"It doesn't mean that maybe Joseph or Bellum couldn't help. You could try asking them."
Solaris remained quiet, silently beginning to cry, while Avett silently continued his work.

@illusionar-pantomime: the kit would be ready once the call the help was put out. Appearing next to the team, Panto would stare on at the size and scale of Aphotic Basilisk, clearly the biggest Pokémon he had ever laid eyes on. He was determined to see whatever happened next through to the end though. He had trained as best he could for this and was ready to defend his home. Even if his heart thumping in his ears may have been telling him to leave this to the others, he wasn’t going anywhere that easily.
Aphotic Basilisk looked down at the small Zorua, and could only begin laughing. "Ha! Your call for help brought with you a small Zorua! Easy pickings for me!" The Necrozma made a fist out of pure darkness and covered it in prismatic armor, and launched the fist directly at Panto. Solaris would jump in front of Panto, blocking the attack and keeping him safe.
"Rrgh, dammit!" Solaris grunted. Two plates of the armor covering his arms fell to the ground... With what appeared to be his scales stuck on the inside. Soon after blood began dripping onto the ground, and Solaris placed his arms at his side. The armor at both of his elbows had fallen off, along with the skin that was fused to it, and began profusely bleeding.
"Panto... You okay?"

@cerulean-volcano: after a few days of work, Karie would return to Solaris’ bar at closing time. Stepping in as the last of the patrons left so he could be alone with Solaris, laying a case on one of the tables as he gave Solaris a smile “Hey hun. I got the display for Zane’s sword finished. Want to set it up for you?”
Solaris would look over to see Karie enter the bar as he wiped his bar down. The Charizard's bandages had finally come off during the gap in time, and his arms were anything but pretty. They had healed over okay, but Solaris' deep orange scales hadn't returned. His arms and claws had a lighter orange color, almost looking closer to orange sherbet in color, and were entirely scarred over.
Solaris looked at his arms and worried a bit at Karie's reaction to them. He would nod at his question. "Yeah. Let me finish wiping the bar down and I'll clear the shelf off."

I just had a random fun idea.
So, due to Solaris' injuries, he won't be able to do rescue work nearly as much. But he would want to prepare in case he is needed.
So he learns the Zui Quan (drunken boxing) fighting style, to use his opponents strengths against them. Especially since Zui Quan focuses a lot on unpredictable movements and grabs.
What do you all think? I think it fits him especially since he runs a bar.

The light surrounding the Marowak would fade, and they would find themself in the middle of a vast forest. One that was filled with flowers of various colors. The colors that popped out and filled the space with life brought the Pokemon to tears.
"Flora... The colors you're showing me... I haven't seen them in years..." They would begin to laugh through the tears, wiping their eyes as they looked around. "You're still alive and blooming..."
The Marowak's joy would be brought to a halt, as the device on their left wrist began to alarm. They would position their right hand near the handle of their blade, it popping out from its internal sheathe, and a message would blare out followed by an arrow pointing to the east.
"WARNING! MASSIVE ENERGY SPIKE DETECTED! PARADOX POKEMON 'FERROUS HELLFIRE' IS NEARBY!"
Wasting no time, the Pokemon took off in the direction the arrow pointed to, eventually crouching down behind some tall brush once they saw their target: A large Charizard covered in armor with purple flames erupting between the plating. It seemed that they were practicing moves, and the Marowak found the opportunity to strike.
The Marowak drew their blade, and with a roar from their belly, they tackled the Charizard with lightning quick reflexes. Said Charizard turned himself onto his back, only to see a Marowak on top of him. As the other Pokemon raised their sword, ready to plunge it into his chest, he stopped it with his claws, and really got a look at this other Pokemon.
"No way..." The Charizard held the blade, his voice quivering. "Zane?"
The Marowak stopped, recognizing the voice coming from the Charizard. After a few moments, they got off of the Charizard, but still held their blade out. "Yeah... That's me. Why do you have the voice of someone I hold dear!?"
The Charizard's armor plating retreated back into his arms, revealing orange scales, icy blue eyes, and a scar along the right side of his mouth. Zane, upon realizing who was in front of them, sighed in relief and sheathed their blade. "Solaris... Why are..."
Solaris held a claw up. "You tell me first. How are you here? And how do I know that you aren't someone trying to play a trick on me?"
Zane would step back. "Right... This is going to sound insane, but it's all true." Zane sat down in the grass, inviting Solaris to do the same, which he did. "I am Zane... But I'm from another timeline. A timeline that runs parallel to this one. You, Florence... Everyone save for the kids passed due to old age."
Zane looked down. "It wasn't too long after that the first Paradox Pokemon appeared. Then another... And another. One by one they invaded, destroying most of the continents and the Pokemon that live in them. Remi... And Noel... And Audie... They all died to Paradox Pokemon, defending the world. Arceus tried to intervene, but even they were killed by Paradox Pokemon. The only place that's left is Alstroemeria, but it's withering away day by day, since Isaak can't take care of it."
Solaris listened intently, grabbing hold of Zane's hand. "Then... Why are you here? Why aren't you back in your world fighting?"
"I'm here to prevent the outcome that befell my timeline. Aphotic Xenolith, a strong Paradox Pokemon, is like a hive mind that gives orders. Since we share similar timelines, if we beat Aphotic Xenolith here... Then my timeline will be saved."
Solaris looked down, and nodded. "I understand. We've seen a few Paradox Pokemon here already... Maybe if we can find out where they're coming in at, we can lure out Aphotic Xenolith."
Zane stood up. "I don't have time to play it slow. We need to deal with it now. If I can save everyone quickly... Then there may be a chance at rebuilding. If we take too long... There won't be a home for me to go back to."
Solaris frowned, grabbing Zane's hand again. "If Phoebe is still alive in your time... Surely she would help, no?"
Zane grimaced, "I'm having Dialga ask her, but... It's a gamble to say she'd accept it." The Marowak sat back down. "After Remi and the other kids died... I wasn't in the best place mentally. I was sucked into my work... I lost more family members. I ended up lashing out at Phoebe, and she packed up and left. I didn't even mean to hurt her like that..." Zane began crying. "I keep sending her messages, but she doesn't respond. I see her rarely when I'm out on missions, and even then she only shoots me glares."
Solaris wrapped Zane into a tight hug. "She's going to accept it. I know she is. Even if it appears that she hates your guts... You are still her parent. The only family she has left. She'll come around to help." The Charizard's heart ached, and he forced a smile. "Thinking about the what-ifs isn't going to help right now. We have to play our cards right... And once we see Aphotic Xenolith we take it down."
Zane looked down, but eventually nodded. "Yeah... You're right. I just gotta hold on to the last little bit of light I see." They looked back at Solaris. "So... Why can you change into a Paradox Pokemon?"
"That's... A long story. Let's head over to my bar and I'll explain." The Charizard, holding onto Zane like a stuffed animal, began flying towards The Caravan, the only spot he could think of that would keep Zane away from the others for right now.

Solaris, what is it with you liking big buff dragons that look odd?
Solaris would cross his arms and huff. "Why don't you mind your business over there, my guy? You don't see me commenting on your tastes. Let me like who I like.
