The Unexpected Visitor [Self Para]

The youngest Yashvardhan walked into the Scarlet Pointe with the express purpose of seeing her older sister. Now that both their brothers were married it was Jhanvi’s turn and she was so excited to help her older sister get started on the wedding planning. Everyone else might have been burnt out for a while where weddings were concerned, but Kiran lived for these moments and as Jhanvi’s one and only sister she felt it her duty to give her a hand through all the exciting planning. It was an early evening and they were just going to talk preliminary details over dinner with Benjamin, but it was bound to be a good time all the same. 

As she got out of the elevator that stopped on Jhanvi’s floor, Kiran couldn’t help, but feel as though she wasn’t alone. It wasn’t really a new feeling as her family had always taught her to be fully alert of her surroundings whenever she was alone. However, it was a feeling she hadn’t felt in a long time as things had calmed down on the enemy front. It seemed that things were running rather smoothly when it came to that aspect of her family’s life. The young heiress brushed it off, figuring it was nothing. When she stepped into Jhanvi’s office, Kiran found it empty. Her sister’s assistant had left already, it being so late in the evening at this point. “Well, a little stroll in the garden wouldn’t hurt…” she mused, the woman leaving a note for her older sister before skipping out of there. 

It was such a lovely summer evening and she always loved the sound of the fountain trickling peacefully in this little corner of the hotel. Kiran had just been admiring some roses nearby when she felt a hand tug her rather harshly from behind. She almost shrieked, but the sound was muffled by a hand. “Don’t shout please,” the gruff, but familiar British voice spoke. She turned enough to see Marcus standing there, still grasping her tight. There were so many thoughts and questions rushing through his mind at this moment, but the main one was what was he doing here? 

“God, you’re a sight for sore eyes. You’re even more beautiful than the last time we were together.” Together? Did he mean the day she told him she was in love with Rohit and that he needed to understand that she did not want to see him anymore? “Marcus, what the fuck is going on?” “Kiran, you need to listen to me… Your brother tried to send me off. He’s dangerous. I heard some things. I saw him hurt someone. You need to get out of here. I’ve got a car out back, but we need to move now.” Oh god. Marcus knew. She could see it in that crazed, paranoid look in his eyes. Where had he been all this time? “What are you talking about? Are you okay? You look like you need help. Come with me. We’ll sort this out.” “No! I need to get out of here, but I can’t… I… Why aren’t you more upset by this?” 

Had she just been caught out? Kiran thought on the spot, “You’re saying some pretty outlandish things and about my family no less. You think I’m really going to believe you just like tha-” “You know.” The light bulb went on in his head rather quickly. “You know and you were about to hand me back to your crazy brother.” “He’s not crazy.” The mere term being directed at her big brother made Kiran furious. “He is… And I’m going to get out of here, but not without some insurance.” And just like that his hands were on her again, his grip holding her tight, her mouth covered. Marcus was much larger than her, tall and strapping, and he was dragging her out of that courtyard much easier than she would have liked. 

“You’re coming with me. Don’t worry. I won’t hurt you, but so long as you’re with me, they won’t even touch me.” How wrong he was, but he was too scared to understand that right now. She thrashed against his hold, wishing she’d paid more attention to Krishna when he was attempting to teach her those self defense skills. And then suddenly came her hail mary in a very unlikely form. “Hey! What’s going on over there?” Never before had Kiran been more relieved to hear Benjamin Carlisle’s voice. “Kiran? Oh my god Kiran!” Marcus hesitated just long enough for her to elbow him between the ribs and break out of his tight grasp once again before running into Ben’s arms. “Call Di!” she sobbed, holding onto Ben for dear life. Kiran happened a glance behind her at her assailant, but she couldn’t see much of him as he’d already run off.
