for anyone confused about who kissinger is and why we're celebrating his death, here is links to all episodes of a 6 part series that podcast Behind the Bastards did detailing his life and crimes:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
It's a total of 8hr 31min, so it's a long listen for the whole series, but that is legitimately just how much there was fucked up about this now deceased ghoul
EDIT: i should also add that Robert Evans, the host of the show, not only does amazing in-depth research (with all cited materials listed) into kissinger, but also presents the information in a pretty digestible way with comedy and insightful commentary from him and his guests and producers. so, don't be intimidated thinking this is just dense and dry, it's not.

"That's why I'm scared right now. It's because many many years ago my ancestors had to constantly be worried about this fucking thing [...]
a little bit from the Behind the Bastards/ You're Wrong about crossover on kidnapping fearmongering that stuck with me. They went on a tangent about anxiety and fear and how we'll never be free of fear for reasons that are hardwired into humans. One reason being the cavebear.
transcript under Cut
Robert Evans: What I- What I'd like people at home to do, you know. The next time the fear hits you, right, and you find yourself wondering "Why am I so afraid?". Instead of burrowing into like whatever you said in your-or like going on twitter and you know, doomscrolling, or any of that stuff.
Get on the Internet and look up a picture of the skull of a cavebear.
Cavebears don't exist anymore. But they're much larger than- all present-day bears are small compared to cavebears. They were like, the elephants of bears. And they used to murder the shit out of us. Uhm.
Look at- look at the skull of a cavebear and realize "That's why I'm scared right now. It's because many many years ago my ancestors had to constantly be worried about this fucking thing charging out of whatever cave and murdering their entire family. And so now I'm sitting at home in my airconditioned house where there are no cavebears and I'm scared."
Just like, look at a picture of the cavebear. That's why you're scared.

If you're still kind of obsessed with OceanGate, Behind the Bastards just did a couple of episodes about Stockton Rush and they get into details about how many times he blatantly ignored people straight up telling him "this is unsafe and you will get someone killed," and how like plain old common sense should have told him it was unsafe. This is absolutely the new high water mark of a libertarian doing something stupid everyone involved paying the consequences.

Holy shit, Behind The Bastards has uploaded four episodes on Helena Blavatsky, the founder of Theosophy (the predecessor of New Age). There's like. Over four hours of material here. Gonna be checking this out because holy shit. Can't wait to hear what all dirt they've dug up on her.

Kinda curious how much crossover there is between fans of Cool Zone Media and Dropout. They've got similar vibes, a lot of former employees of a big 2000's comedic media company (Cracked and CollegeHumor, respectively) that fell apart and the employees just kinda started their own thing that's half company and half friend group. Both exist as companies but go out of their way to prioritize consumer satisfaction over profits. Both are very anticapitalist and left-leaning. Jamie Loftus and Vic Michaelis follow each other on Instagram.
Anyway I think they should do a crossover. Get Brennan on BtB. Get Robert Evans, Prop, and Margaret Killjoy on Game Changer.

I was going to put a podcast on to listen to while I'm making oatmeal bars and cleaning, but I'm trying to listen to the Behind the Bastards podcast in the order they were released, starting in 2018. I started ages ago, but got stuck because it took me about two years to get myself to listen to the Reagan episodes.
Anyway, going back that far on the podcast website is annoying, since there are like 8+ per month. They've all been uploaded to youtube so I'm listening there. I found a way to play them through my media player, so no ads yay.
But they were uploaded in batches, not on the date they were released. So I'm like, there has to be a list somewhere.
Yeah not that I could find. They have them on IMDb for some reason, but they're stupidly organized. They start out in order, but then aren't in order. Sometimes they'll shove in a different year just for the hell of it. I'll find parts four five and six but have to look at a different year to find parts 1 2 and 3 and I don't even know where part 7 went. So instead of doing anything practical I'm sitting here organizing all of the episodes of behind the bastards and a spreadsheet.
So if anyone is interested in a spreadsheet of all of the Behind the Bastards episodes, in order by date, let me know.

Spoiler: Kissinger gets six episodes.

Hey tumblrinos if you're tangentially aware of Behind the Bastards this is your sign from the universe to listen to it, because it's genuinely so nice to see a discussion about historical monsters that can acknowledge that they might be queer without implying that they're monsters BECAUSE they're queer. This week, they covered Scott Adams aka the Dilbert guy because he won't shut up about bringing back racial segregation. They mentioned that Adams thinks nobody enjoys sex and that everyone who says otherwise is lying, and briefly commented that if he learned some stuff about the broad range of human sexualities and maybe googled asexuality he might be a healthier and happier person. It's just a refreshing attitude for people to have about less-acknowledged sexualities and it keeps the show from feeling like a hostile space to queer folks.

Anyway if y’all wanna be EVEN MORE MAD about how people are abusing AI for their benefit at the expense of other people, this time including children, I highly recommend you listen to the two (as of this post, they’re the most recent) episodes of Behind the Bastards titled “AI Is Coming For Your Children.” (From omny.fm: Part 1 / Part 2) Or, if you’re more of a reader, you can read the article version of it on Robert Evans’ substack:
This sucks so bad. Like, this shit is bleak. Add in the book bans people are trying to push out and… I dunno, seems like a recipe for disaster to me.

my favorite episodes are the ones where the guest is kinda a normie and robert says something like
'the navy had an opportunity to sue scot adams and save us all from dilbert forever and they failed at their duty to protect this country [...] this is the worst navy failure since pearl harbor'
and the guest is shocked that he would say that on his podcast. and it's just a standard robert evans goof. comparatively tame especially when you consider the blue apron bit.
