wait so like, I'm just checking out more of Epic The Musical and like,,,is "Just A Man" aka a song that establishes Odysseus' tragic character and the beginning of his many dilemmas and hardships starting with being commanded by Zeus to kill Hector's infant child,,,is thAT SONG with all the spirit of all the penultimate acts both thematically and musically,,,IS THAT REALLY SUPPOSED TO BE THE SECOND SONG OF THE MUSICAL? because damn. that's quite a bold introduction. i'm intrigued.

#NO LIKE LEGIT LISTEN TO THE THING #I WOULD COMPARE IT TO HURRICANE FROM HAMILTON BUT LIKE HURRICANE HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SECOND ACT #JUST A MAN HAPPENS IN THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE MUSICAL AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY PROCESS THAT FDSJFJD #it's certainly an unconventional move because like when i first listened to it (without prior context abt odysseus killing hector's boy) #i thought the song was supposed to be like the emotional 2nd act climax or some shit #LIKE LISTEN TO IT JFDHD IT'S NOT WHAT YOU NORMALLY WOULD EXPECT FROM AN INTRODUCTION #ITS VERY INTENSE FOR AN INTRODUCTION IS WHAT I'M SAYING BOTH MUSICALLY AND THEMATICALLY #because u know odysseus having to kill an infant child because greek god stuffs #but then again wow having that intense fucking song and dilemma as an introduction to the musical and odysseus' story #is very bold and very striking and i would like to hope that the rest of the musical would follow that set up #so anyways epic the musical is definitely interesting ooooohh #epic the musical
