theres something so incredibly painful and meaningful about nona deciding to live just because a dog is in the truck. just noodle, this weird little six-legged dog that nona only knew for a handful of months in her already short life that she loved so deeply. tazmuir goes to painstaking extents to illustrate all the horrible things that come as a result of love (paul, jod’s backstory, pyrrha/g1deon/wake, ianthe and corona, gideon and harrow, etc) but this little, pivotal moment illustrates the beauties of it. nona is all about love, she loves without reason, she loves her little life and her little family and her school and her friends and noodle. noodle, who is just a dog, who can’t speak or express his love like humans do, but shows it nonetheless. because noodle is a dog, and dogs love without reason, just like nona (just like the earth). when everything and everyone that nona loves is falling apart, when she’s lost in all those horrors of love and chaos and destruction and her brain is breaking down and she’s losing what it means to Be Nona, noodle is still there, loving her regardless. and because she’s still nona, she loves him back. and she lives for love, even for just a few minutes longer. for a dirty little six-legged dog that wasn’t even hers, because she can’t let what she loves die if she has the choice (the power, for once). it’s beautiful and heartbreaking and the last decision she ever made was to live with her horrible, painful existence so that a dog (who couldn’t choose) wouldn’t die.

God, I can't stop thinking about what Camilla's internal dialogue must be like after GtN
She's such a quiet character and really seems to try to keep up a stoic appearance but like, man she really has a lot of shit going on and her development between GtN and NtN is so insane but still seemingly subtle.
I can't even begin to imagine what the final day on Canaan House must have felt like to her because in many ways she's kind of a weird mirror to harrow right?? Her Necromancer has just sacrificed himself to save her life, tragically failed at doing so, and now she's all alone trying her best to collect the bone fragment of the person closest to her? Clinging on to a plan b that, as far as she knows, could have already failed! The fact she even let Palamedes consider a plan b like this would be unthinkable for the Camilla of NtN! She's just incredibly out of her depth the entire time, probably trying her best not just to break down
Do you ever think she resents Palamedes for that day? Whenever she was looking at his bone fragments, or even when he was back and now in his mind it's like. The fact that he acts like she's the reckless one, that he keeps getting mad at her to take better care of herself, do you ever think she hears that and just. remembers picking up pieces of his skull?
Maybe that's why she's relieved when they get to perform grand lysis, she doesn't need to be scared that he'll risk his life for her again and he doesn't need to be scared she'll do the same, they both choose to die together and make something new, someone new that risks their life only for themselves?
Idk, I just think their whole story is so scary and beautiful, they really did go loud.

i'm pretty sure i have the most unpopular campal opinion in the fandom being someone who does not romantically or sexually ship them or think that's canon, but also being someone who's not morally opposed to people who want to headcanon their relationship that way, and not being upset if people even chose to interpret the text that way (as long as they don't insist that it's unreasonable or unsupportable to interpret it as platonic)

smth smth “Camilla and Palamedes were loved by Nona. Pyrrha was loved by Nona. It’s finished, it’s done. You can’t take loved away. We loved you too. Palamedes and Camilla loved you.” smth smth "she was born to the untold wealth of belonging to Camilla and Pyrrha and Palamedes" smth smth "I’ll remember. I’ll make myself remember."

really overcome by the sixth and the ninth’s friendship rn. cam and pal taking care of harrow’s body while she’s helpless in a profoundly weird and dangerous situation because they love her. trying to jog nona’s memory for the slightest possibility that it will bring back one of their friends. just the love and the trust these two little feral lesbians inspire and they aren’t even there to see it.

How is it that two separate series that I love both had the theme of
"She was never real, she never existed, her end is absolute. When the mask is taken off and cast aside to reveal something much older and bigger than her there will not even be a grave to visit - but the love was real. The love was more important than anything else"
And ALSO
"God's here and he's a deadbeat dad, he is taking zero responsibility for his choices and also he sucks, his firstborn daughter has said so to his face"
How does this happen

why do you think gideon knows who nona is? i didn’t get that from my read so i’m curious what i missed!
She saw Harrow's "bullshit dead girlfriend" come to collect her body in the River, and she knows Alecto's eyes look like hers, so she has all the necessary background info to figure it out.
Real reason tho is the conversation in the van. She asks Nona where Harrow is, and when Nona can't answer she follows up with: “Okay. Different question. Do you love her?”
Seems to me she knows she's talking to the woman Harrow loves to the exclusion of all else, and she wants to know if she also loves Harrow, or if she's just using her.

thinking about oxenfree again. thinking about the tragedy of it all because you can do all you want and there’s a techinical ending where you get out of the loop but we all know that the alex we know is forever trapped on the island. maybe we helped another but our alex is still stuck. you can be the worst person ever and it wont matter to anyone but you and alex a bit. you can get your brother back from the dead but do you want to lose your new relationship with your new stepbrother? and in the end it doesn’t fucking matter. you can get ren and nona together you can kill clarissa you can save clarissa you can do everything right and in the end it still doesn’t matter. you are stuck on the goddamn island with the ghosts and with alex and alex is the only one who remembers the timeloop ever.

personally I can't wait for when harrow returns to whatever planet nona the ninth was set on and finds out she has a small army of children at her disposal who keep teasing her about things she may or may not find sexy and asking about whether she mentioned their names to coronabeth
