I'm sorry but DNI's are so funny to me like. Sir/ma'am you are on Tumblr. One of the most public forums of all public forums. Literally every kind of human imaginable is here, and by default they have no barriers to seeing or interacting with anything you post. The expectation that people you perceive as so evil that it triggers you unbearably just to see them liking, reblogging, or agreeing with your content will also be so polite and respectful that they will just refrain from interacting with your blog in any way because you asked them to is like. This is moon logic. In what world would just telling people you consider evil to please go be evil somewhere else be an effective strategy? I really hate to borrow a term from conservatives here, but I really hope that the true nature of these things is actually just virtue signalling, and it's just masked as a request. That the DNI isn't there to ward off Nazis and feminists (who are apparently equal intensities of evil), but rather they're there simply to signal to like minds that one is Not A Bigot. Because at least that would make sense.
And let me just say, if the idea of Someone Who You Very Strongly Disagree With agreeing with you about something is so stressful that you feel the need to essentially post a sign at the door telling them to stay away lest they commit the heinous act of agreeing with you, maybe you are not mentally mature enough to be on the internet. Humans and their beliefs are not black and white. Ideological groups do not exist as these completely separate and discrete bubbles with no overlap ever. It is not some kind of violation against you if a Bad Guy thinks you have a point. And I know why it ruffles these people's feathers so much when The Bad Guy agrees with them. It's because that means that they also agree with the Bad Guy, and they can't properly process that fact intellectually or emotionally. And I'm sorry, but, again, if the fact that sometimes two people who are ideological opposites in many ways will, in fact, agree with each other on some things, is beyond your ability to comprehend or make your peace with, then maybe you shouldn't be on the internet.
