I can't help but think about how Dream defeated Lucifer in the battle of wits by declaring that he is hope. And the fact that Edwin, the 16 years old tortured soul who clawed his way out of hell and immediately decided to help another lost soul and had been doing so for decades and then upon his return to hell helps his own murderer to move on, is indeed the embodiment of Hope In Hell.

ever think about how Edwin was bringing that lantern over to a dying Charles without knowing he could see him. he'd just recently escaped hell and yet he saw a boy bullied and shivering, and his first response was to try and help even with zero recognition. to try and stop what happened to him in that very same place from happening all over again. and then when Charles does see him, that realisation that it was already too late. that Edwin had been through hell and back, gone for decades and returned to the very thing he'd left to. how hopeless that must have felt and yet he kept it a secret, read Charles stories, kept him company until Charles did die because he didn't want to scare him.

edwin in hell is giving off so much raw emotion that charles probably wasnt used to seeing (though we dont really know the fortitude of edwins emotional walls when its just them two that hes willing to show)

but edwin is usually super calm and collected and prepared on cases, hell is probably the most animated weve seen him in the show so far not that i blame him

Okay, so I haven't watched all of FMAB yet, but I love how Ed is so fucking oblivious. He got a gorgeous girl, way smarter than him and out of everybody's league, who plays with the cord of the telephone when they speak together because she's down bad and laughs softly when he talks.
