I just realized that we’ve not had anything lately for you denizens of the #lowend . So for #gibsunday here’s a 1954 Gibson EB-1 Electric Bass! It comes with its original pink-lined hard shell case and its adjustable end pin extension for stand-up playing. Link in our profile. - This is a really nice original example of the instrument we think this is just about the coolest and most distinctive electric bass ever designed -- and one of the most eccentric! The "Gibson Electric Bass" (The name EB-1 was not used until 1958, when the semi-hollow EB-2 debuted) was first issued in mid-1953 as one of the earliest solid-body basses. The "fiddle-shaped" body design is unique and owes nothing but general concept to the slightly earlier (late 1951-52) Fender Precision -- and was likely an inspiration to Hofner in Germany! Just in! A 1966 #fender Jazz Bass in its original black tolex hard shell case. - This is a relatively clean and original example of a "transitional" early-CBS era Fender Jazz bass, with typical 1965-into-'66 features. The most notable is the pearl dot rosewood fingerboard *without* the binding that appeared by early '66. The neck is dated DEC 65 and would be one of the very last unbound ones made. About the Elrick Expat Series line of basses: Expat Series basses are hand made by our partners in the Czech Republic using the same select grade lumber and American made components used in my line of USA hand-carved instruments. Expat e-volution basses feature the same components and specifications found on USA Gold Series basses. US Bartolini jazz coil pickups and 3-band pre-amp with active/passive and 3-way mid-frequency. US Hipshot / Elrick hardware. Wenge fretboard with MOP position markers. Swamp ash bodies with natural finishes. This bass, however has an ebony fingerboard and is painted piano black giving a nice elegant yet very metal look. It’s ready for a wedding, a dirty club or a festival stage! I already know it will record very nicely as well. I’m very much looking forward to hitting the stage with this bass to rip some Contrarian songs!
