desi!johnny hc’s but early 2000’s au? thanks if u get to it!
YEA OF COURSE!!! i dont even think i rlly ever talked about johnny in my 2000s au cause hes just so timeless so this would acc be pretty good help to find out what hes like
•HUGE tollywood fan, would literally force pony to watch some movies w him (if i remember correctly, tollywood refers to the bengali cinema/film industry, if im wrong MY BAD</33)
•some of em arent even translated to english or at least he doesnt have the version that is, maybe its recorded on a vhs tape so ponys just there sitting quietly and every 10 mins hes like “so whats goin on”
•his fav to watch is chokher bali and the namesake (i say the namesake cause i feel like maybe johnny relates to it quite a bit yknow)
•sometimes u can catch him listening to Rabindra Sangeet songs, hes not rlly a music person but he likes it a lot
•HE ALSO LIKES BANGLA BAND MUSIC i can feel it, sometimes he shares an earbud w pony so he can listen to it too
•he LOVES partachitra paintings (if u havent seen em before look them up), hes not much of an artist but i imagine that in class he likes doodling and drawing inspo from those paintings, not exactly drawing like those hindu mythology scenes, but just the way he draws ppl???u can tell he gets some notes from partschitra paintings
•i see him as being more open about his culture so maybe in the curtis house he gets them to make bengali food/sweets like sandesh, rashgulla, macher jhol, etc etc, and the gang has a bengali dinner night<33
•google translate was made in 2006 and SO THIS MEANS that yes, SOMETIMES the gang (mostly pony) can find out what johnny mumbled under his breath in bengala (or whatever language u hc him to speak) and they now know just how funny johnny rlly is
•or rlly how mean, ik he makes some slick comments under his breath, when he finds out someones using google translate on him he just sighs and goes lu know what i said huh😕😕”
THATS RLLY ALL I CAN THINK OF NOW BUT this gave me a way better understanding of johnny in the early 2000s au so bless u🙏🏽🙏🏽
AND AS ALWAYS IF I GOT SOMETHING WRONG PLS CORRECT ME GUYS I BEG</3

Today marks the 14th death anniversary of #SujitKumar, a distinguished actor and producer who graced the Indian film industry from the 1960s through the 1990s (05/02). Hailing from a village near Varanasi, Sujit Kumar's career spanned across at least 150 Hindi movies and more than 20 Bhojpuri films, establishing him as Bhojpuri cinema's inaugural superstar during his prime.
Film aficionados from the 1960s might recall his leading roles in suspense thrillers such as 'Lal Bangla' (1966) and 'Ek Saal Pehle' (1965). Nonetheless, his most iconic role could arguably be the memorable scene where he plays the mouth organ in a jeep in 'Aradhana' (1969), with Rajesh Khanna wooing Sharmila Tagore in the backdrop. Kumar was a staple in numerous films alongside Bollywood legends like Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, and Dharmendra, showcasing his versatility in roles that spanned from comedic to villainous, and at times, a blend of both. His portrayal of a spy in Ramanand Sagar's 'Aankein' and a memorable part in Dev Anand's 'Des Pardes' are among his standout performances.
Kumar's contribution to Bhojpuri cinema was monumental, making a significant impact with his debut in 'Bidesiya' (1963), where he played Bidesi Thakur, a role that won the hearts of audiences in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. His leading role in 'Dangal' (1977), the first Bhojpuri film in color, played a pivotal role in rejuvenating the regional film industry after a period of decline. His directorial venture, 'Pan Khaye Saiyan Hamaar' (1984), even featured cameo appearances by Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha.
Towards the end of his career, Kumar ventured into film production, backing projects like 'Champion' (starring Sunny Deol and Manisha Koirala) and 'Aetbaar' (featuring Amitabh Bachchan and John Abraham).
Battling cancer, Sujit Kumar passed away in Mumbai on February 5, 2010. As we remember his vast contributions to Indian cinema, we pray for his soul to find everlasting peace.

Fregar lol It just seems like a copy of the word fregar in spanish (it means scrub) 💀 intentional or not it's gets me a chuckle anyway
There’s also Lynesse’s new man Tregar (to deliver) Ormollen, the Rogare (Latin for to ask) family, Sharako Lohar (Bangla for of Iron), Black Trombo of Myr (aka thrombus or blood clot), Colloquo (basically I place) Votar (to vote, who GRRM didn’t make a politician). Then you have Perros (dogs) Blackmont, and Mavros Uller and Dagos Manwoody (both ethnic slurs against darker skinned people). Then there’s people who don’t have translated names but bear similarities to famous characters from cinema, like Drako (character from James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service) Rogare, Fredo (Vito Corleone’s middle son in The Godfather series) Rogare, and Rego Draz (read Hugo Drax, the villain from the Bond film Moonraker). The name that made me raise an eyebrow the most was Terrio Erastes (roughly translated as lover), which is the Ancient Greek term for an elite man engaged in a sexual/mentor relationship with a teenaged boy (the eromenos). Some of these probably aren’t intentional (seriously why is Votar not a politician? And I hope Dagos wasn’t intentional), but the Rogare sons’ names were particularly stereotypical Italian, so I’d like to think they were.

11 and 14 for the ask game
11. favourite native writer/poet?
Satyajit Ray — I know that makes me a basic bitch but his works are all SO GOOD!!!!!!!
14. do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV?
Rather a complicated answer because on one hand, absolutely, yes I do, some films are cinematic masterpieces and the serials are fun to watch, but I feel that these days Bangla cinema is losing its quality?? If that's the right word???? It's becoming a hell of a lot more commercialized, surely, and we all know what THAT does to something.
