9. What/who inspired you to start making gifs?

alright, so, i've been on tumblr since 2011 and started making gifs in 2014, so... 10 years ago (jesus christ) and i was heavy into the bandom world on here. i actually had a decently popular blog back then, but i've since abandoned it. i started making gifs of the bass player for pierce the veil (here's the very first gifset i ever made, if you're curious)

but like, the main thing that got me started was that i wanted to see certain things that nobody else was making. so i got a totally legal copy of photoshop and just... taught myself how to do everything. i was in a super fucking dark place at the time and had a sleeping schedule that would fuck up anyone so i had a bunch of free time, staying up until like 6am reading tutorials and experimenting.

anyway, that developed a lot and i ended up getting a graphic design degree that's probably going to collect dust since i switched majors, but yeah lol

occasional nsfw posts, i mostly remember to tag this but sometimes dont, sorry. sometimes will reblog gifsets etc of horror films and the artistically grotesque, keep this in mind before following

WE DID have a whole subculture! Oh my gosh, like, the ask memes, the gifsets and the edits, the icons and icon packs we'd make... when a new song would come out, any band, folks on tumblr would be the first to source guitar and bass tabs. first to source live versions. first to share info on bonus tracks, B sides, etc. Such a sweet pocket of time, the 2010's bandom era was. The passion was so pure and real.
