#690: Pandora, where the avatar films are set, is a fictional moon in the Alpha Centauri A system (putting it 276,000AU from earth), and is based off China's first national park, Zhangjiajie Forest Park. it has huge natural stone columns and mountains and is a UNESCO global geopark. in fact, they renamed one of the quartz-sandstone pillars (at 1080m high!) to "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain" in honour of the film! this park is also home to the worlds tallest outdoor lift, the Bailong Elevator (lit. "hundred dragons" lift), and also claims to be the highest and heaviest. there are also three cable car systems and a monorail which takes you along a "ten mile gallery" of scenic floral landscapes.
