Any idea why The Show keeps undoing/ending GabrIel victories yet in the Season 5 Finale, GabrIel wins?

Well, according to the grapevine, since the MLB airs in Brazil via Gloob and a lot of kids there whom are part of the intended target audience have parents who are currently in prison and/or have served sentences, the latter likely "requested" the former to make it so his ending was more "digestible" for them/not remind them of their current circumstances - or so I've heard.

(Edit: I've been informed that the whole "Gloob suggested Gabriel not be jailed" rumor is a result of this twitter thread from TA answering a question about Gabriel's fate, where he mentioned Gloob informing him of the above mentioned about Brazillian kids (https://twitter.com/Thomas_Astruc/status/1479946079634399236). According to Brazilian fans, however, this is not the case at all and seems to be the MLB crew "passing the buck" as it were as an attempt at damage control regarding the leaks/reactions over Gabriel's finale fate and are upset they're being blamed for the writing decisions made. While I won't/can't say if TA lied/is being partially truthful on the thread, it's clear the situation's a huge mess and neither Gloob nor the Brazillian MLB fandom are the main perpetrators for whatever choices were made for S5, so do approach the rumors with caution)

But frankly, it was likely mostly because Gabriel is the main villain and they needed to keep him in the driver seat to help ramp up the "will they ever catch him" drama until it was time to hand the wheel over to whoever they picked as successor (i.e Lila in Season 6), especially if we take the claim of everything totally being planned from the get go as is. I think they also just wanted to move on from Gabemoth without having to address all the more uncomfortable "complicated" issues his existence as the main villain have created (what with being Adrien's dad and the magical slavery and what not) - hence they gave him a, quote unquote, "Pyrrhic Victory" that allowed him "punishment" (Not living to see the results of his Wish) while still rewarding him for his crimes "sacrifice" (Getting Emilie back and his image remaining unsullied in both her and Adrien's (and all of Paris's) eyes) and also making it the load-bearing weight of the new utopian Paris so that undoing it or telling Adrien anything about the truth regarding it is out of the question.

After all - only a complete and utter monster would want to undo the paradise Gabriel gave up his life to create for Marinette and everyone, *hint hint*

Same thing happened in the UK and Norway but this case is even more disgusting. A man in a dress is using a woman’s experiences with abuse against her and claiming that she accused a man of color. Her is white.

A Brazilian feminist is reportedly facing up to 25 years in prison after being charged for calling a trans-identified male politician a “man” in a case she says she hopes will wake the world up about the impact of gender ideology on women’s rights.

Isabela Cêpa, also known by her social media handle FEMINISA, is a feminist influencer well-known in Brazil for her advocacy on the issues of sexual and domestic violence. She spoke exclusively to Reduxx on what she describes as “unconstitutional” criminal charges that have been formally lodged against her by the State on behalf of a trans-identified male politician – Erika Hilton of the Socialism and Liberty Party.

Hilton was elected to São Paolo’s municipal government in November of 2020, winning his seat by a landslide that gave him the title of the most voted-for ‘woman’ in Brazil.

At the time of his victory, Hilton was celebrated in international media as being a “symbolic triumph” for 

transgender people. Hilton was amongst the top 10 most-voted for candidates in all of Brazil, and was touted as the “only woman” to make the list. 

It was the widespread announcement of his victory that first put him on Cêpa’s radar.

“At the time I didn’t even know who this person was. I just saw a headline on an Instagram page celebrating that ‘the most voted woman in São Paulo is a transwoman,'” she says, recounting how her ordeal began, “Then, I shared a video with my followers saying I was disappointed to hear that the most voted-for woman in São Paulo – later found out that it was in the entire country – was a man.”

Cêpa says she left her home to go shopping, and when she had returned, a veritable firestorm of outrage had broken out, one which quickly spiraled out of control.

“When I arrived back home, I was already being attacked by thousands of people,” she describes, stating Suyanne Ynaya, an editor at ELLE magazine’s Brazil franchise and friend of Erika Hilton’s, had posted her Instagram video to Twitter, calling her out for describing Hilton a “man.”

But Ynaya’s attack didn’t just end there. The ELLE editor also accused Cêpa of filing a false sexual assault report against a Black man in an attempt to also paint her as a racist.

“This is something that just never happened. I’ve never reported a Black man for anything at all. So people started spreading the rumor that not only am I transphobic, but also a racist and a liar who takes advantage of the feminist movement to file false reports against innocent men of color.” 

Cêpa told Reduxx she had been the victim of a sexual assault, but that her rapist was Caucasian. Despite that, Ynaya continued to spread the rumor that she had reported an Afro-Brazillian man, and even engaged beneath Cêpa’s tweets calling her “privileged and disgusting.”

On Instagram, Ynaya threatened to physically harm Cêpa multiple times, threats she brought to the Police but nothing was done.

“I have no idea why she did it … She deleted tweets when she realized it would result in criminal charges against her,” Cêpa says, noting that some survivors of sexual assault had begun to take issue with Ynaya’s campaign to delegitimize Cêpa’s sexual assault testimony, but the ELLE editor told them Cêpa did not deserve an apology because she was transphobic.

In an audio recording Cêpa provided to Reduxx for review, Ynaya is heard calling Cêpa a “racist” with mental health issues, and repeating the rumor that she had falsely accused a Black man of rape.

“I couldn’t count how many threats I received, between my social media profiles and e-mail,” Cêpa told Reduxx, saying that in the 24 hours after Ynaya launched her campaign, she lost over 11,000 followers on Instagram, “I was also uninvited to participate in a podcast where I was supposed to talk about sexual violence, as a survivor. My friends were threatened.”

But the social media attacks had more than a cursory impact on Cêpa’s life, they would also go on to impact a situation of domestic violence she was attempting to navigate shortly after.

“When I broke up with my [ex-boyfriend] after he raped me, he found a really comfortable space to say I was a false accuser. Things got to a point I coudn’t go out anymore without being taped, watched or photographed by his supporters – all women. His ex-girlfriend – a very fanatic trans ally – sent private information about the investigation to media, and then many people started saying online that I was a false accuser.”

Cêpa’s ex-partner was convicted of violating her restraining order against him last week, with an additional 6 alleged crimes still being investigated. Cêpa says that he told her in a recorded conversation that it was “way too easy” to convince others he hadn’t committed any wrongdoing against her because of the trans activist campaign that had been launched to discredit her.

While all of this was happening, Hilton was using Cêpa’s fall from popularity as a talking point. In early 2021, he mentioned he was planning on taking 50 people to police, of which Cêpa and her friend, whom he called a “mythomaniac,” were two of them.

Hilton didn’t report Cêpa to police until November of 2021, and in January, police would turn up to Cêpa’s mother’s workplace to ask for her whereabouts. 

“They just gave her a document and she called me, worried. At the time I was traveling in another town and had to call the police station to understand what it was about,” Cêpa says, describing having to go to a local police station and speak with the officer there. 

“When the officer told me it was about the politician I laughed. There was no other possible reaction … I said: Yes, I do defend women’s rights on a biological basis. There is no crime in stating the facts.”

After she spoke with police, Cêpa would be in the dark about developments in her case until June of 2022 when a reporter from a major Brazilian newspaper contacted her to ask for comment for a story she was writing on the charges.

“I heard about my charges for the first time on June 18th when a reporter from Folha sent me a direct message on Instagram asking for a statement, minutes before posting the article,” Cêpa says, “This was the first I had heard I was being formally criminally charged with anything.”

Cêpa learned from the Folha article that she was being charged with 5 counts of racism after the Public Prosecutor combed her social media feed to find other “transphobic” statements. 

In 2019, Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court ruled that discrimination against ‘LGBTQ Community’ constituted a penal offense, but fell under existing race-based protections as a form of “social racism.” This came a few years after State Police in São Paolo began to include trans-identified males in “femicide” statistics.

In addition to learning about the charges, the outlet announced Cêpa was facing up to 25 years in prison, a figure she says was manufactured to discourage other feminists from speaking out on similar issues.

“That [25 years] would be more time than a murderer convicted in the first degree would get here,” she says, calling the threat of the sentence “psychological terrorism.”

Speaking with Reduxx on Cêpa’s case, Brazilian journalist Andreia Nobre points out political dynamics are likely playing a role in her ordeal.

“[Cêpa] is being punished by a man who says he’s trans, because Brazilian media outlets wrote that he was the most-voted female councillor of all time and she challenged it,” Nobre says, “All she stated was fact. How can anyone believe that a government composed of 50% males saying they are ‘cis’ and 50% males saying they are ‘trans’ would represent progress?”

Nobre, who is the author of the newly-released Grumpy Guide to Motherhood and critically-acclaimed Grumpy Guide to Radical Feminism, notes that females comprise less than 20% of political seats worldwide, and are massively underrepresented in politics in Brazil.

“It shows Brazilian women they are not humans deserving of rights,” Nobre says, “It is definitely a setback. We barely have our rights respected in Brazil.”

Despite still having no formal copy of the charges that have been filed against her by the State, Cêpa has put together a team of 12 female lawyers to fight on her behalf.

“It would be unconstitutional to convict me for any of these charges … I’ve been facing these kinds of attacks from trans activists for years, so when I heard about it, I just put my legal team together right away.”

Last year, Hilton announced he would be suing 50 people for “transphobic” remarks, but as of right now Cêpa says she is the only one who has been formally targeted. In reports made across Brazilian media last year, Hilton appeared to be using the threat of suing feminists as a re-election strategy, rallying his supporters around the idea he will sue them after having them criminally convicted, and give the settlement money to other trans-identified people.

Cêpa says she hopes her ordeal will show how women are losing basic constitutional rights to validate the feelings of males.

“This case is not about a hate crime, but about a difference in political views. No one can impose upon a woman a belief that her sex is irrelevant.”

I got curious and looked under the queerbaiting hashtag on twitter and they literally call anyone and everyone a queerbaiter. They just throw that word around like it means nothing. Harry, TS and BBunny seem to be the main targets. I came across the queerbaiter hierarchy pic that you posted a while back and some of us had wondered why TS wasn't on there, although I do think she's queer, but I saw that a TS fan made it so that explains why lol. I saw that a male Brazillian music artist who is already out as bisexual, he made a music vid with a female love interest and the posts and quotes are full of queerbaiter comments, he's getting so much abuse and he's out as bisexual lol. Male celebrities are being labelled queerbaiters for posting sexy pics, the gays say they're trying to appeal to them. It's insane on there. I don't go on tiktok or IG but I saw comments about how they're kind of echo chambers for twitter and queerbaiter accusations and thrown around on them too. I'm trying to figure out if queerbaiting accusations are of any concern or is it just strictly online discourse? Does the gp care about it at all or it's just a very vocal minority? Do they have any real consequences? I know it forced Kit to CO but he seems to be an exception. I'm not sure if many others have been affected by it. Maybe D*ve C*meron, I think she CO because of them. She said she was flagging but people mistook it for queerbaiting. I wonder if the accusations would ever affect someone as famous as Harry or TS. They get a ton of hate online but their music is still performing well. The thing is, the accusations are all over the media too so there's got to be gp reading those articles. I feel like the queerbaiting accusations have damaged Harry's image but there's no proof of that other than online discourse, I guess we'll have to see how his next album performs. You have to keep in mind that queerbaiting is about baiting queers. It's a marketing strategy to appeal and cater to a large potential target group, the queers. The queers are a minority, who's traditionally been repressed by straights. They were never given a voice. Queers are desperate for representation and normalisation and someone to give them a voice, so they grasp on to celebs queercoding and wants to support them. Some straight celebs take advantage of that for monetary reasons and queers feels duped.

Queerbaiting is problematic and frowned upon, but it can be very hard to differentiate between celebs queerbaiting and queercoding. So half a fandom will think a celeb is queercoding and another half think the same celeb is queerbaiting. I think it becomes an issue if the biggest portion of the fandom is queer or queers are the biggest target group (like with Kit). I don't think most of the gp cares about this since they're mostly straight. It might become a problem for celebs with mainly straight fans if they're actually queer (like with Harry). Because they're rejected by their own community. But the sales and their popularity won't take a hit since their fandom is predominantly straight.

So in short, the consequences depends on the make up of your fandom (straight vs gay majority, and gp vs stan majority) and if you are actually queer or not.

Hello! Happy June! It's Pride and I have another question (4/30)

Today we are talking about queer representation in media. In 1894 "The Dickson Experimental Sound Film" is released, becoming the first "gay film". It was also known as "The Gay Brothers", it feature two men dancing together and it reportedly "shocked audiences with its subversion of conventional male behaviour". Unfortunately, in 1934 the USA introduced the Hays Code, which, while it didn't explicitly ban queerness, banned queerness in effect. This resulted in three decades of queer-coded villains, such as Joel Cairo in "The Maltese Falcon" (1941) and Jack Favell in "Rebecca" (1940).

The Hays Code was lifted in 1968, and the queer cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" was released in 1975, and gave a much-needed positive and FUN representation of queer people and queerness. Unfortunately, this was short-lived, as the rising AIDs crisis worsened the stigma around the gay community. This didn't stop everyone though, and in 1985 "Desert Hearts" was released; regarded as the first mainstream lesbian film with a happy ending.

Further on, the first gay kiss on TV in the UK was on "EastEnders" in 1989, "Ellen" became the first American tv show with an openly gay lead in 1997, and other show such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" started to add recurring LGBTQ+ characters. An important show in the UK was "Queer as Folk" (1999) which was one of the first shows to depict the queer community as vibrant and alive.

Even further forward, and "Moonlight" (2017) became the first LGBTQ+ film (and the first all-black cast) to win Best Picture at the Oscars. GLAAD publishes an annual report showing how representation is changing. 2005-2006 1.4% of regular characters vs 2020-2021 the figure is at 9.1%. So, there is still a long way to go obviously, especially because media is often the main or only place that young people have an insight into the community at all.

Because of this, I want to ask you for a recommendation: What is a piece of queer media that you think more people should see? (it can be literally anything, big/small, funny/sad, smart/stupid <- just anything you think deserves to be watched!:))

You know I've been using twitter quite a fair bit these past few months, more so looking at things really, I've only replied to like one or two people ever if they're not just already my friends. And anyway to that entire end I've been seeing a lot of how twitter's Sonic fanbase seems to act, and god those dudes are a different breed man.

Like, it's a consequence of twitter as a platform that negative content automatically gets more attention and engagement, but holy shit the degree to which it seems like the userbase are just constantly at each other's throats over the most insignificant things is insane. You know they've been arguing about a fucking ten year old Death Battle video over the last few days? Cause one single person brought it up, and now everyone needs a piece of the pie, all of their opinions are so important and they singularly are more correcet than everyone else collectively.

The back and forths are ridiculous, it's just a bunch of people going "you're wrong" at each other. The Sonic Unleashed humans are bad. Muzzle curve. You're not allowed to enjoy Frontiers. You're obligated to respect 06. Sonic has no sauce anymore. The Frontiers boss tracks are white theatre kid crap. And I think what makes it all the worse is everyone is so incredibly convinced of their own authority that they'll make sweeping states about the ENTIRE SONIC FANDOM not realising that the only people they're even talking about is the incredibly insular western english speaking sonic twitter community and even then only the ones willing to engage with them to begin with.

And the irony isn't lost on me, right - I'm acting like my opinion is any more authorative or important than anyone else's, but to my own credit I've at least acknowledged that it's 'the western english speaking sonic twitter community and specifically the ones that are engaging with each other's opinions on really arbitrary topics' that I'm targeting, rather than saying some shit like "when will the sonic fandom at large acknowledge that [the most deranged opinion you've ever heard]".

The dumb opinions and everyone's unwavering obtuseness in their own viewpoints suck but I really do think it's the degree to which they're ready to generalise the rest of the fanbase that bothers me the most. They live in a bubble where a couple hundred-to-thousand other western english speaking sonic fans on twitter will engage with everything that everyone else posts and somehow assume that to be reflective of the literal millions of people globally that are into the Sonic series and whom channel that love through more avenues than these people can even fathom. Some 13 year old Brazillian kid just pirated Illustrator to draw Shadow the Hedgehog fanart, that's a Sonic fan, they're part of the Sonic fandom, they couldn't give less of a shit about sonictwt's new daily ragebait obsession.

Thank you for your participation! These are the final results for the 4th Hypnosis Microphone International Poll. After months of work on this, we have estimates for general fandom opinions. Do you agree or disagree with the general opinions? Please let us know!

My deepest apologies for how long this took to get out. We will be releasing these results with a section per day, with the end of these results showing the Japanese side.

PREFACE

The data collection for this poll received 902 votes to give us an indication of the demographic of those who consume Hypnosis Mic. This poll was open to English speakers, and thus, results may be considerably Euro/American-centric. The word ‘international’ has been used to refer to how fans are from many places around the world, but the poll may also refer to this group as ‘English-speaking’ etc. The Japanese poll had a smaller respondent pool with 400.

This poll received the most activity through Twitter, given that the series is most active on that platform. The poll was also posted on Tumblr, Facebook and the HypMic wiki. 1. First Ship - Ana / Danilo (Chocolate com Pimenta)

soap operas are a huge thing here in Brazil (the mexican ones were my favorites! they’re a classic around here if you are keen to drama). but the first couple I remember rooting for is from a brazillian one. they had a lot of winning tropes: angst, slow burn (kinda), they had a son and she didn’t tell him.... yep, that’s good lol

2. First OTP - Diego / Roberta (Rebelde)

remember when I told you mexican soap operas were dramatic? well... Rebelde had three seasons (with more than 100 episode... EACH), so you can imagine how much drama and slow burn I had to put up with lol

the soap opera and the band (RBD, if you don’t know) were the first things I can remember being truly a fan. I still love them (the band split up almost 13 years ago and the original airing of rebelde ended back in 2006). roberta and diego are the definition of enemies to lovers (and back to enemies... and then to lovers once again haha). they were pure chaotic energy, I love it! it’s one of my fav ships ever and it’ll always be ♥

i posted on twitter about how bolsonaro just issued a provisional measure allowing employees to suspend contracts for 4 months without salary, but i really need to vent right now about all the despair i’m feeling at the moment, and i couldn’t do it on twitter so here i am.

so: right now, there are 1.546 registered covid cases in brazil. there have been 25 deaths.

this number is most definitely not correct, however, because the testing here is still too slow and only people who present grave symptoms are being tested. the health minister has plans in order to implement faster testing, but it hasn’t happened yet.

the reason this number matters most, however, is because of what it indicates about the country’s future. italy has been held up as a cautionary tale in this pandemy, but the rate of contamination in brazil has been higher than it was there. 

to put it in perspective, on day 20 of the virus in italy, there were 3 confirmed cases. on day 20 of the virus in brazil, there were 291 confirmed cases.

brazil has a larger population than italy, obviously, but one thing we also have is a huge number of people living in absolute misery. over 13.5 million brazillians “live” with less than 145 reais per month (again, to put it in perspective, the minimum wage is supposed to be 998 reais). over 35 million brazillians do not have access to piped water.

the federal government has not taken measures to attempt to protect these people. it has not taken measures to ensure social isolation. in fact, it’s the opposite: bolsonaro keeps calling the virus a “common cold”. evangelical churches have continued to host large services, and have already declared they don’t have any intention to stop (30% of brazil’s population is evangelic).

which takes us back to the italy comparison. a biologist who has been making a lot of online content about the pandemy made an estimate of what could happen here if the lack of security measures continues. he estimated that, at this rate, up until august, we could have around 1 million deaths of covid in brazil.

and that’s just covid. it doesn’t even take into account all the people who are getting fired, all the informal workers (41,4% of the population) who will have no basic income.

meanwhile, hand sanitizer prices have skyrocketed, and the government has done nothing to freeze these prices yet. and our healthcare system, though good in theory, is already overwhelmed and without enough resources to take care of the population in a normal scenario.

i know nearly every country is dealing with the virus and suffering immense losses over it. i just wanted to talk about what is happening right now because i don’t think it’s as apparent to the rest of the world as it is to those who live here right now that brazil is headed for a human tragedy of epic proportions. i genuinely don’t know how, or even IF, the country will come out of it. obviously everything will come harder at the lower classes, but at this point i don’t think anyone but the richest will come out unscathed, and that’s literally 1% of the population. i don’t know how brazillian society, as a whole, can survive this.

(also, if you’re latino and reading this and the “military dictatorship” sirens are sounding off in your head: yeah. yeah that’s... another concern.)

Avengers: Children’s Crusade Sells Out After Rio Mayor Orders Recall for Gay Kiss

The Amazon Rainforests may be burning at a record rate, but the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Marcelo Crivella, appears more concerned about the burning passions of fictional teenage superheroes. In a video message posted to Twitter Thursday, Crivella ordered the organizers of the 19th International Book Biennial of Rio de Janeiro to collect all copies of books with content unsuitable for minors. And featured in the tweet is the Brazillian printing of Avengers: The Children’s Crusade, the 2010 series by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung in which the Young Avengers search for the Scarlet Witch to resolve some plot points about the identities of Wiccan and Speed. And just what material does the book contain that’s unsuitable for minors?

Well, the book is notable for featuring the first kiss between same-sex couple Wiccan and Hulkling in Avengers: The Children’s Crusade #9, a moment celebrated by Marvel on the collage cover to Marvel Comics #1000… even if it took them a few tries.

Here, via Google Translate, is what Crivella had to say in his Tweet:

“Guys, we need to protect our children. Therefore, we have determined that the organizers of the biennial collect the books with content unsuitable for minors. It is not correct that they have early access to matters that do not conform to their ages.”

Crivella reportedly wants the books to be placed inside sealed plastic with content warnings.

Unfortunately for Crivella, the book has reportedly sold out from all locations at the festival after organizers refused to remove it.

Addition by the mod: Crivella didn’t stop there, and he sent officials to the Biennial to confiscate any books with “inappropriate content to minors”. Some fair stands have already taken books with LGBT+ themes away from their shelves, and will label them as rated R. The Rio city hall reinstated that content that “promotes homosexualism [sic] to minors without previous warning” violates Brazilian children and teen’s rights law. The Biennial nonetheless hasn’t backed down from holding a panel about LGBT+ literature.

when I first applied I didn’t have that much of a backstory on her, but the more I worked on her pinterest and mock blog I fell in love with her messed up self. So the gist of it is that her family moved to L.A before she was born, her mother an aspiring singer and her dad wanted to do anything for his woman plus he is a car mechanic so he could find a job anywhere. Before her they had another daughter,  her older sister by 4 years and  a younger brother that was born 6 years after her. They were never the happiest family, high school sweethearts that got knocked up and wanted to escape the life in Brazil so they went with the ‘American dream’  only it was a goddamn nightmare. Her father found the work he was looking for, but her mother was seriously struggling and her only way of getting jobs being to sleep with whoever offered and she kept it a secret from her husband. Even with doing that it didn’t really lead anywhere, she grew old and bitter and wasn’t the best mother to her three kids. They didn’t see their father that often either, but that’s just cause he worked his ass off to keep them with clothes on their backs and to be able to afford food which obviously isn’t easy in L.A. It was home that never felt like home for Electra, she knew it like the palm of her hand, but there wasn’t that feeling of security as they lived in a pretty crappy neighbourhood. 

They still got around though and the three kids practically raised themselves. Her older sister playing the biggest role in her life as she practically raised her and taught her everything while her mother was off hooking up with random men. Her sister was quite the social butterfly in contrast to Electra and always did what was best for their family. Even if that meant doing some not so ethical stuff to get money. When Electra was 14 though things got really bad and her life literally turned upside down. Her sister had began stripping for money, something she made El swear to keep a secret, not that she understood it well, but she knew neither of her parents especially her father would be okay with that. That left 14 year old Electra looking after her then 8 year old brother after school, making sure he’s fed and okay. Electra actually learned how to take care of herself and others real young. But one day as he was walking back from school just as he was calling her to ask what they’ll have for lunch he hadn’t looked around while crossing the street and was hit by a car mid conversation with Electra. He died on the spot and although it’s not her fault she has always thought that she had a part of it because she was supposed to protect him. 

It was a devastating few months for the Romero’s,  not long after her younger child’s death her mother finally went ahead and left them for another man. Everything that happened made Electra sick and angry, but neither of them could stop and mourn properly cause if they did they’d have no place to live. That’s when around the age of 15/16 Electra started getting into songwriting. Being slightly more mature going into adolescence she started to experience the things that are love and friendship and got caught up with them. Smoking, underage drinking, stealing her first electric guitar and learning to play it so she could impress her then boyfriend. She did whatever she could to distract herself from the sad reality that was her life and for a while it worked like a charm. Her making a living out of singing never seemed like an option to her as she knew her father and sister wouldn’t approve. She saw what happened with her mother and even thinking about it wasn’t a topic of discussion. So it remained a silly little hobby she’d work on while she skipped on school to hang out with her friends until the moment when one of them suggested that she’d upload one of them for her as at the time Electra couldn’t afford owning a computer. She didn’t think much of it and agreed, but instead she went viral  and not long after a producer reached out to her with the chance to join a girl group he was forming. Electra was probably drunk or high when that happened, but somehow she ended up agreeing. 

Singing career / present  —    

Somehow Electra had been discovered by an actual producer that wasn’t going to scam her, and not only that, but he made a pretty decent girl group. Her and the four other girls who also had gone viral in some shape or from made quite the team, each girl different in her own way and attracting all sorts of people. He signed them to his record label and they started blowing up within a year of their release, yet Electra never seemed to take it as seriously as the rest of them. There she was all glamorous singing repetitive pop songs in a short skirt, something that even she found embarrassing, but the money was good.  Her family made a big deal out of it and didn’t want to do anything with her, seeing that she never told them and they found out when they saw one of her first preformances. Not facing them wasn’t that hard as they were almost always on the road doing show after show without consideration for their wellbeing. Not only was this not her music, it wasn’t her life anymore she had no control over it. About a year after they’d began she started getting out of control, skipping rehearsals, snapping at the crew and overall being super problematic which they ignored  for as long as they could, but she couldn’t stop crossing the line. After roughly two years the management kicked her out which they played out as a mutual decision, but it was obvious that she’s at fault. And again it was her fault that her family couldn’t get any money again, this time she could truly blame herself, but she had been so sick of being controlled all the time.

For awhile not working felt good, she got her own sound back, even wrote enough to have her own album, but all the people she had alienated while constantly on tour left her with nothing, but her music. Her sister was okay with talking with her, but her father still refused as he saw the wife that left him in the face of his own daughter. Even if he was mad at her Electra still wanted to provide for them, it’s what she was taught to do so when Gold Crown entertainment reached out to her with a whole plan to get her back in the spotlight she was all up for it. A fake relationship and collab that would make her out to be a new and changed person, inspired by it all she writes an album that becomes an instant hit and suddenly everyone adores her again. They let her write her own songs which she was happy about, but she had to follow this whole PR scheme to redeem herself. She didn’t really care if people liked her, what mattered was that at the end of the day each scandal or drama she was involved with brought money to the table and soon enough she would establish a much more successful image for herself than her girl band days that she wasted. This time she wasn’t going to fuck up. 

Personality  —    

Electra isn’t the nicest person, but she cares a lot. The people that gain her trust are very special to her and she’d do anything for them. She values family even if it’s as broken as hers with a workacholic father, a stripper sister and a mother that’s nowhere to be seen. She’s an honest and authentic person even if what she has to say isn’t pretty. El has seen quite the stuff growing up and doesn’t share it, especially the stuff that makes her vulnrable. Her life is strictly business and she can’t go around telling people her sob story as she feels guilty for it really being that way. At this point she just tries to keep her temper intact and do what she has to in order to have some advantage. She often contradicts herself with the things she believes yet still does the opposite thing cause she’ll get something out of it. She’s been in love and experienced real friendship, but that hasn’t helped her or filled the void of guilt in her heart. 

Wanted connections  —    

I have a lot of those! Whether it’s acquaintances, friends, frenemies, enemies, hookups, pr relationships, I want them all! Here are the main ones that I feel like are crucial to her story:

The PR relationship of a lifetime. This can be taken in any way whether they get along, have actual feelings or hate each other’s guts. The main idea of it is that when Gold Crown reached out to her and had a plan for her getting back to the spotlight this relationship was involved. What started out as an innocent collab at first would blossom into a romance. One that would inspire her to change her ways and write a whole album! Or at least that’s what the public has to see. In reality Electra is trapped by it as cause of it she can’t really have a real relationship with anyone. The only thing she can do is have hookups with people she’s certain won’t rat out that her other relationship is fake. 

Roomies. I suppose not long after she turned 18 and was still in her girl group she moved out due to her strained relationship with her family and started living with someone else. Could be another member from her girl group or just a friend from the business she made along the way. She’s probably really close to that person they’re one of the few to see her caring and protective side. 

Hookups. You know a girl has her needs. Whether she was sad, got drunk and somehow ended up in bed with that person or they made a fwb kinda deal it’s always fun to play out. 

Ex-band members. Another person to leave the band after her or they fell apart who knows, but they all share the long weeks of preforming every night and know the struggle that came in being in a girl band.

Dumped for the job. Another starlet she met in the start of her career. At first they hit it off and even got together, again one of the few people to know the real her and what’s she’s all about and that’s what drove them apart. Inspired but this post. Probably tried to stick by her in her rough patches, but she just kept pushing him away and with her offer for  the PR relationship it was obvious it was never going to last. There may still be some lingering feelings, but not all of them are good.
