when I started shipping it if I did:
So really funny story, they were actually not going to end up together in Baby Steps. I literally threw them together because I thought it would be Neat TM but they were originally going to end up with different insignificant OCs when they reached adulthood. But then Katie said she shipped them and a switch got flipped in my brain and now I literally cannot stop thinking about them 24/7. It's a problem lmao (but I love it).
my thoughts:
With how little we know about Becky, she's one of those blank slate characters that you can project literally anything on to and I have done so to my heart's content. And I love Darryl in the show, I think he has some of the funniest lines and I like Aziz's VA work. They have so much potential from a story POV and it's been SO fun to play around with them. It's also one of those ships that I've gotten to build from the ground up and, in case you didn't figure this out about me already, I LOVE doing that. Developing relationships are my bread and butter, they're so fun to write and it's one of my favorite things.
What makes me happy about them:
Honestly? Getting to explore their different backgrounds. Darryl is Indian (I think??) and Aziz is a non practicing Muslim (I think???), so I took that for him and ran with it. As for Becky, making her someone who grew up Catholic but doesn't necessarily believe in their teachings anymore (I write about Catholicism a lot for someone who grew up fundamentalist Baptist lmao) has been interesting to me. Their religious and cultural differences have always been intriguing to me, especially as someone who likes doing research into different religions and cultures (I blame my Hetalia days (yes I was in the fandom, no I'm not proud lmao)).
What makes me sad about them:
They've literally never met in canon. I don't even know if they know each other exists. They are literally just in my head. Also I am the only one writing for them which means I have to make all the content. *sobs*

ok, i've finished watching Pennyworth s3. gifs should be coming later this week :3
i quite enjoyed the show, except for, well, the very last part :((( and the occasional illogical elements and convenient consistency-breaking.
overall the ending was fine to end on, though it would've been fun to see more of the transition into what we know about the Batman stories, like how did Alfred decide to become a butler and work for Thomas, Bruce Wayne being born, and what happened with Sandra and the baby. but it's ok to just speculate too.
i also was hoping the Queen would make an appearance again, or at least be mentioned, to see how her and Aziz' relationship was going, so i was disappointed that was not the case. maybe the Queen actor was fainting too much from getting to kiss and hold Aziz. i prolly would :s. also odd to completely leave out Katie, Bet's partner from s2, and not even mention why they aren't together anymore. Bet was my 2nd fav char btw. i was so sad when she seemed to have died, but i hoped that she would be saved somehow and indeed! so that was nice. also good that Peg made an appearance, and cool that Fox had a bigger role, and good that Alf finally stopped being a bastard towards Sandra (hopefully). anyway, if there were to be a s4, they'd have to revive Aziz somehow too, otherwise what's the point. (nah, i'd still watch it, but i'd be grumpy.)

Yeah cancellation is so ineffective because People have tried to cancel Justin so many w times they failed, Kanye has been cancelled so many times they failed to cancel him because people keep tuning in lol like no on actually truly cares and it’s for shits and giggles and certain people having no lives outside of Stan twitter. Also lol Katy was never cancelled like if I can say someone “flopped” I would say it for Katy. People can only be cancelled when they cancel themselves and Celebs aren’t gonna cancel themselves dude like why would they? Unless they have a mental breakdown like Britney and others which is so unfortunate and Taylor also had a mental breakdown and not trying to downplay that but Britney’s was much worse because she had no one and was alone and Taylor has always had SO many people backing her up and like good for her she deserves it.
Yeah, there’s a difference between having a breakdown, being canceled, and… “flopping” or going gently into that good night when people are no longer interested in what you’re doing (eg Kelly, Christina Aguilera etc).
Of MeToo dude celebs, aside from Weinstein and Cosby and stuff who were like… actual rapists… no one besides Aziz Ansari really disappeared. And like Aziz didn’t deserve it and he was obviously horrified with himself and had like a reckoning and has returned like truly humbled by that experience. That’s because Aziz is a good person clearly and took it as a learning opportunity. Most cancellations aren’t gonna result in reflection.
Lowkey Tay’s did have her reflecting and stuff and she restructured a lot of her life to be more manageable for her and less annoying for casual fans.

We’re rascals and scoundrels; we’re villains and knaves
It took them most of the night to reach Tortuga, even with Jack’s many tricks. But they had to be careful and not attract too much attention- a lone sailboat might be of little interest to Auradon’s navy, but if they made a ruckus or asked for help, it would put them on the armed forces’ radar. Katie recognized that, she understood that, but her anxiety was practically through the roof as she waited for the ocean waves to bring them over Atlantica, and finally, finally, towards Tortuga.
Tortuga almost always was low lit- the pirates who inhabited it preferred torches, especially as most of them used the island to relax. But it appeared semi-shrouded in darkness. A few scouts floated, almost invisibly, candles doused, but they recognized Katie and Jack.
“Glad you made it,” Henry nodded to them both, “And almost under the deadline too.”
“Deadline?” Katie asked.
“We’ll tell you in a moment, love. We need to get to shore,” Jack attempted to reassure her, but it only made Katie’s stomach twist. The sight of Henry Turner and the other scouts alone made Katie on edge. Tortuga was traditionally the place where pirates relaxed. For them to be guarding it…things must have been worse than she knew.
Their little sailboat was escorted to the dock, and as they stepped out, her Uncle Josh grinned toothily at her, “Welcome home, Katie. Always good to see you. Though wish it were under better circumstances.” He went to help her with her minimal luggage as she clambered out of the boat, her legs cramped and tired.
“What do you know?” she said, “Please tell me.”
Joshamee Gibbs shrugged, “Nothing concrete. Just…the winds are stirring,” he turned his attention to Jack, “Elizabeth has summoned the Brethren.”
Katie’s jaw dropped, “She’s what?” The Pirate King, Elizabeth Swann, had continued to run an operation as she waited for her husband’s stint as Davy Jones to end. When it had, the two engaged in a sort of passive piracy, letting others send them wealth from their journeys in exchange for free passage through her territory. Elizabeth took to the seas at her whim, but it was strange for her to act in her capacity as Pirate King. Let alone summon a council.
“No time to talk about it, lass. We’ve got to get going,” Josh and Jack ushered her towards Scarlett’s tavern, where there was a crowd outside. This wasn’t entirely unusual- Scarlett knew how to run a tavern well due to her earlier years as a prostitute. However, this didn’t seem to be the usual drunken chaos that signified a profitable evening for her now pirate mother. Instead, there was a somber mood to the proceedings, and Katie realized with a start it was almost as if they were talking of war.
They entered the bustling tavern, where many pirates continued to drink, though also looking more serious than she’d ever seen them. Katie’s Aunt Giselle ran to her, and gave her a peck on the cheek.
“Welcome home, darling!” Giselle scanned Katie from head to toe, frowning slightly, “Those clothes do not flatter you at all!” Glaring at Jack, Giselle needled him, “You had to get her looking like some filth off the streets?”
Jack winked at her, “The better to blend in, Giselle. In these times, we can’t afford to stand out. It’s a matter of life and death after all.”
Giselle opened her mouth to reply, but they were interrupted by a commotion in the front of the tavern.
