Mad music and manic editing from the get go as a woman rushes around in a bit of a tizz...turns out she's all a flutter because a black man just arrived...a black man back to claim his woman from a white man in a roll-neck sweater...they have beef, and so does everybody else cos they're a bit racist.

Things get a bit racy, prejudices fly and captain roll-neck strokes a knife endlessly.

It's an interesting concept for about half an hour but then starts to grate, despite the fantastic jazz score.

What is notable though is that despite it's experimental structure, it has very realist look to it. Nobody is made-up for the screen, they just look natural there.

An oddity indeed.

Our good friends at Cineworks are excited to present a 6-part series on the history of avant-garde cinema with renowned experimental filmmaker, digital media, and installation artist, Chris Welsby. With weekly Friday seminars in February & March (excluding Thursday, February 17), this series will explore moving image practices from the early European Avant-Garde movement to the emergence of Video Art in the 1960s, and New Media of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The format for the events will include a lecture from Chris Welsby followed by screenings and an informal discussion. Join them at the Cineworks black box studio this Friday, February 11, from 5pm to 8pm, for the first session. Registration is free, but space is limited.
