Alright, Alright..let’s talk about this man right here..
Tumblr media
I love this man, I don’t know if I want to be him or be with him I genuinely cannot decide. He is me, I am him in every way. The author says he suspects Jean ain’t well paid, and neither am I, so..we’re soulmates.
He’s a lazy concierge, he’s dressed like he wants me to undress him and quite honestly he’s looking better than anybody else in that hotel.
I mean.. THAT HAIR? God, Jason Schwartzman ate the role up and even licked the plate clean. Every time I rewatch this movie I get excited when he comes on, I’m not really sure why maybe because he’s so cutesy 😗
Also that little bit of hair sticking up on his left is so hot, idek anymore
Honestly I don’t know what I’m even doing this is honestly just me impulsivity writing about stuff I like, kinda like a diary so feel free to ignore this. But..if you also like this mf here is a free lollipop: 🍭

I watched Moonrise Kingdom with my mom for the first time a few weeks back and the “What kind of bird are you?” scene has cemented itself firmly in my brain right next to “It’s not your fault. It’s mine.” from Fantastic Mr. Fox and “I’m not coming back, Auggie.” from Asteroid City.

Loontics Unleashed: Tunnel Vision
The latest band climbing up the charts in Acemtropolis, they are one of the first non-human bands to gain recognition (as well as notoriety) in recent years after winning a record label with Acme Records in 2068.
They're technically a rock band, though they tend to explore genres.
They are scheduled to preform at the 2774 Basherball Championship halftime show, despite the more recent threats sent to them.
Lore Below:
Don't mess with any of the band member's equipment ESPECIALLY their instruments. Jax get's particularly nasty when her guitar is touched.
Dakota Frog
performer name: Lily Pad
she/her
lead vocals/bass
Writes most of the songs with Jax
in charge of choreography
Descendant of Michigan J Frog
used to suffer from severe stage fright so she could only sing in front of one person at a time
luckily she's conquered this fear with Tunnel Vision
cool headed though she isn't above getting into mischief
Jesse Rabbit (Rodger/Jessica Rabbit descendant)
Performer name: Dust Bunny
he/him
Speaks several languages-> translates their songs
Drummer/ male vocals
Descendant of Rodger and Jessica Rabbit
clutsiest of the group, he does the least amount of stunts during their shows
smooth talker- he manages their contracts and ensures they get paid fairly
acts dumber than he is so people underestimate him
Marcy the Martian
Performer Name: Asteroid Bebe
she/her
Proper Title: Crown Princess Mihl’ah Tyr'ah,
Keyboardist/ rapper
sound engineer with Jax
Daughter of Empress Tyr'ahnee and Commander X2, cousins with Melvin
though polite and well-meaning, she is regularly impeded by her short temper (this has improved as she has found an outlet through thier music)
initially visited Earth as a culture study
she's perfectly content to chill on earth for the next century or two
tranlsate's their songs into Martian, giving them a LARGE fandom amongst the Martian Empire
Jacqueline “Jax” E Coyote
performer name: Sandy Lane
she/
9 string guitar/ lead vocals
sound engineer with Marcy
Writes most of the songs with Dakota
See Link^^^
protective over her bandmates, she's usually the one to tell people off if they are crossing a line
Tech's sister

real talk though i love when a movie hurts my feelings in an indescribable way. its made doubly funny by my inability to remember names, so i cant even recall the name of the characters im sad about. guess its never really been about names for me though. i can remember faces and voices and actions and thats what matters to me. HERE I GO HURTING MY OWN FEELINGS AGAIN

I was watching a documentary today about the extinction event that killed the dinosaurs (the asteroid), and I realized something.
I was watching as they detailed the 2 hours after the asteroid impact, how just about everything died, and I couldn’t help but feel so *sad* about it. Watching the 3D rendered T-Rex stumble through the trees to find her nest as the forest burned around her, i had to look away, it was so upsetting. But I wanted to know, just like the paleantologists who were uncovering these fossils. Humans desire to know the past, to empathize with the creatures that died 66 million years ago, i just thought it was really beautiful and sweet. The dinosaurs had no idea that they’d be so loved millions of years later. That I, an autistic teenager, would be crying about a T-Rex and her eggs while I learn their stories. I just think that’s neat.

More Outer Wilds babyyyyy
I played a lot more since I last posted, so here’s some of the things I did. Each bullet point is a separate run.
I got to space, landed on The Attlerock, and then died immediately because I forgot to suit up.
I landed on The Attlerock and remembered to suit up this time. I explored for a bit, talked to the guy chilling there (forgot his name,) found the Nomai Lore Zone™️, and died to the supernova.
I landed on Brittle Hollow and registered quantum fluctuations to my signalscope, found out about a “quantum moon” the Nomai journeyed to, and fell into the black hole and died in the middle of space.
I explored a bit more of Brittle Hollow and found the remains of a civilization enveloped by ghost matter, and then went back to Timber Hearth to register that weird teleporting stone in the museum as a quantum fluctuation. Then I died to the supernova.
I love this game so far and how seamlessly the world fits together. I have some guesses on the lore that I’ll post when I get to the quantum moon.

thinking so hard about astroid city. about jones who had just lost conrad playing augie who had just lost his wife. about conrad thinking he’s an old fool but he ends up writing a great play which he will never see the success of. about jones and conrad and what could have happened if conrad hadn’t died. about grief and yearning and wanting to do him right. astroid city is the only thing on my mind currently

Asteroid City’s “things that were expected to happen didn’t happen but it was still okay” and how people process grief, especially how children and adults process grief differently (expressing everything & asking a million questions vs suppression), and how you try to apply significant meaning to sudden experiences and how do you cope when there’s no reason at all things just happen at random and am I doing this right? any of it?

you know when you watch something, and it doesn’t quite click initially, but then a few weeks later it all comes together and suddenly it all makes sense and its now one of your faves?
well i just had that moment with asteroid city, and i really need to write down all my thoughts about it so here we go
so, the big thing i was mulling over was ‘what was the point?’ not in a cynical way, just in a curious way, yknow. what was the point? its asked at multiple points in the film, so clearly there must be answer, right?
no, there isn’t an answer. and thats the point
an alien showed up, and for a moment it was the most important thing in the world. and then it wasn’t, and life moved on again. everything froze, and then it unfroze again, and nothing changed, and everything changed.
because life is forever moving. even when everything feels frozen, the world is still spinning, and someone somewhere is eating cereal. life moves, even in mundane ways.
whats the point?
Tumblr media
you’re never going to find the meaning of anything, and thats ok. thats the point. just keep telling the story
its a film about nothing, and about everything. because even in the nothing of meaning, there is everything. does that make sense? i don’t know, and thats ok. thats the point. you dont have to know everything, you dont have to ‘get it’ to appreciate it. sometimes a film is just a film.
maybe the alien is a metaphor for covid, or for the loss of a loved one, or some third thing that i cant think of. it doesnt matter. because ultimately life went on, with or without the alien. regardless of what the alien was, the story kept being told. the play kept on going, even when the lead left the set. the film kept playing, even when you left the room. the world kept spinning, even when the world was frozen.
whats the point? i dont know, and thats ok. thats the point.
im going to stop typing now, because im pretty sure im about to start going in circles, but yeah, i just wanted to share some thoughts on what might be my new favourite wes anderson film
