Looks to the Moon’s puppet is suspended by her umbilical arm in zero-gravity, parsing through holographic screens as her robes and fins and pearls float around her. Her can sails smoothly through vacuum, subconsciously aware of her fleet following her at a distance.

A new display pops up with an alert. Swiping away the status of her refineries, she brings the new screen closer, going through the displayed report at the same time that she turns her attention to her communications array. Her eyes smile as she starts messaging her local fleet.

4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

The shower, so consistently that I’m pretty sure it’s witchcraft.

More seriously, I’m definitely inspired by other fics I’ve read, the comics, and the movies (UtRH ofc, and the lego batfam movie in particular). I’ve been watching the original 1990s Batman the Animated Series cartoon recently and been drawing a lot of inspiration from there.

Comments on ao3 and asks here are a huge source of inspiration.

I also have a brainstorming buddy that I talk out loud with to generate ideas.

11. Link your three favorite fics right now

I’ve really tried, and I just can’t do it. There’s too much good stuff out there. If you look at my blog under the tags ‘keen converses’ and ‘fic rec’ you’ll see a bunch of posts of fic recs. I’ll add two more here, inspired by my beloved mutual @bonerot19’s recent post. These are two of my favorite alt format fics:

12. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

I could write a whole blog post on this topic. I’m going to distill it down to a general statement and an anecdotal story.

Feedback and support create a positive feedback loop that makes me more likely to choose to write than to do something else with my precious free time. There’s a special kind of joy I get from ao3 comments and tumblr asks; they’re tangible proof other people are enjoying what I create (isn’t that what every artist wants to some degree?). When I get insightful comments or curious questions, it makes me think more deeply about the story I’m telling, and my writing gets better for it. Wanting to know what my repeat long commenters think about a chapter helps keep me on a schedule. Even just a <3 makes me smile and reopen my google doc that much faster.

My anecdotal story / PSA to leave a comment … I work a hugely stressful, emotionally demanding job. I was legit crying in the bathroom one night when I got an email notification for a comment on Asymmetrical Warfare. It was short, sweet and to the point—the equivalent of ‘this is fun, Jason is so badass,’ but it was more than enough to make me smile, square my shoulders, and get back to it.

Feedback doesn’t have to be profound or earth shattering. Just a few simple words, emojis, keyboard smashes — they matter more than you may think.

44. What mistakes do you keep making no matter how many times your beta corrects you?

Way too many commas.

AU five headcanons thing where everything is the same except...vampires (make of that what you will)

Hey, anon. Sorry for the late answer, I have been busy, but I finally have the free time I hit this.

Have been having fun coming up with an answer. Really love vampires lol.

At first, vampires living in the desert seem pretty unconventional, but in reality it's the best place to hide. It's the last place people would suspect, plenty of stuff from the old world to help vampires, and since it's the city state that gets the least amount of attention, Sandrock has become a sanctuary for vampires over the years.

Everyone has a story for how they became a vampire. Some were turned and others were born. The only one they aren't sure is a vampire or a human is the builder and that's still up in the air. Some are not even sure if they even know they are living in a town with vampires.

They are pretty good at hiding it whenever they have tourists or guests. It's pretty easy to lie to people about why almost the whole town only comes out at night and has heavy blinds on the windows. After all, it's easier being nocturnal in the desert.

Except with the Duvos situation. Most of the Duvos army was so smug about how easy it was taking over the town until the sun set.

Either way, the town of Sandrock is pretty peaceful and just wants a nice community. At least how the Alliance sees it.

Eddie forgets in his own au

So he gets hired by Wally as a mailman

Because the other mailman “left”

He gets cold at random times

And feels like he isn’t like everyone else

He also has white hair

(This is the 3rd post where I say that. YES the hair is important. Considering how the AU is about colored hair)

Eddie would try to talk to neighbors and others but they won’t stop looking at him weird

Some say they remember newspaper articles. Other say they talked to him before, though his hair was darker

He tags along with Frank since they often travel out of the neighborhood

He even drives for them if it’s far away

He often accompanies them whenever they would talk to a ghost

Eddie gets flashbacks every time he sees something that causes a “trigger”

Dark room? Flashback

Recent murder cases? Flashback

Being trapped? Flashback

He doesn’t know how or when those memories happen

They’re real

And he’s done something that had changed the color of his hair

Open Starter/Ask Box is Open!

The gentle hum of machinery filled the room of the spaceship, an ambient glow from the various buttons and the all-too-bright panel on the side of the platform illuminating the room. Gears turned on the walls, working ceaselessly to keep the wooden vessel running properly. Books stood on the bookshelf, displaying their titles proudly to anyone that happened to peruse the shelf- though many of the titles detailed stories, tales, and information about another galaxy, while some were in completely different languages! A window to the outside displayed countless of stars, twinkling brightly in the dark ocean of space.

In the gentle silence pervaded only by the mechanical hum, a gentle tink echoed through the room.

Sitting on the piano bench in the back of the room was Lyla, doing her best to try and figure out a song from memory. Though she wasn’t sure what the notes were, she kept pressing on the keys until she found the right ones. Her tiny fingers pressed down on the keys, playing the song. It was a bit slower than how the song goes, but that was to be expected. She didn’t have anyone to teach her to play, at the moment, and she wanted to play as well as her Mommy did!

... She wondered how her Mommy and Daddy were doing...

This one is so hard. I like so many different fics for different reasons. Favorite finished fic, favorite ongoing WIP, favorite abandoned fic that I keep going back to reread and imagine an ending for??? And how do I pick just three?

13. What’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

What I learned by answering this question is that mostly I ignore common writing tips. I looked up a couple lists, and it was all ‘nope, nope, nope, definitely nope’ going down the line. I do try and follow the show, don’t tell rule (with varying success?).
