Difang thought
Against all expectations, when they are sharing a bed it’s dfs who ends up as the little spoon.
It feels vaguely embarrassing at first to lay there, fdb pressed tight against his back in the too small bed. Having him hold onto him - they don’t speak of how all the times fdb has been left behind might contribute to this.
Nor do they speak of how dfs sleeps better like this than he has in years, perhaps ever. Hands free to defend himself, his back protected even in sleep.
ohhhhhh, yes please 🥺 difang cuddling is wonderful and the trust di feisheng has in allowing fang duobing to have his back is so special to me. maybe he wakes up with fang duobing's face tucked into the back of his neck, and allows himself to just lie there and let the moment roll onward, not wanting to end it. until eventually he feels fang duobing stir and a very sleepy "a-fei" makes its way out against his hair. ty for this image <3

I would love if maybe you can do more contractions/active labor? Whatever characters or style. Love your work, thanks for what you do!!
Those are some kind words, Anon! Unfortunately, my artistic skills aren't quite ready for prime time. What you see on my blog is a curation of art from amazing artists in the community! You can always check out the blog of the OP who posted the art you liked and see if they would be interested/comfortable drawing that.

Trying to wrap my brain around a post about Ashton and Taliesin.
About player risk and character risk.
The player's desire to make interesting choices and contribute to a compelling narrative.
And the character, wanting to fulfill destiny, to be special, to be whole.
The player, misreading the DMs intentions, seeing a daring challenge for his character in what was actually an impossibility the DM never expected him to try.
And the character, misjudging the warnings of powerful people because they know better, this should be theirs, and if they aren't strong enough to take it they might as well be dead anyway.
The player, secure in the knowledge that his friends might yell and be mad at them a bit, but ultimately there's no chance of losing anyone over this.
And the character, out of trust with every single member of the group, faced with the possibility of losing everyone.
I don't know. To have both character and player expectations so radically subverted is hard, and I felt like Taliesin had to do a lot of digging and reconciling for Ashton between these past two episodes to get in the right headspace.
In an episode where there was a spotlight on every Ashton relationship, each one felt distinct and authentic, which is a credit to both Taliesin and the cast as a whole.

Ashton in Jrusar is so funny bc they're like. clearly a massive loser. its just that everybody else in Bells Hells is an even bigger loser and also doesn't know this city or really cities in general so whenever anything happens they just all turn to him like "Ashton 🥺 what do we do" like a bunch of baby ducklings who imprinted on a mangy street dog. and then Ashton takes them to a guy he knows who he has to bribe before they'll actually tell him anything or even just. not immediately kick him out of their establishment. and then this person tells Ashton they're proud of him and amazed he actually has friends now and he's just like fuck i know right. and the rest of the Hells are increasingly confused and concerned but they just keep it pushing and ask Ashton questions like, "have you ever had a bounty put on you before?" to which they're like "yeah I probably have one on me right now"

Wang zhoucheng back jewellery you say??? Please elaborate (I feel like I remember this but also would love to be reminded)
hello! the wang zhuocheng back jewelry moment refers to this one look from a photoshoot he had in february 2022 (around valentine's day iirc), which flipped a collective switch on jiang cheng/cql side of tumblr when the pictures were released and sent us all spiralling into hysteria for at least two weeks. it also inspired several wonderful pieces of jiang cheng fanart. truly a historic time among the jiang cheng stan circles
also i'm making all of you look at this again because we deserve it:

(this is tagged for it as well, but putting it here: the below involves some non-graphic mention/discussion of suicide in relation to episode 3x78)
I think it's important to keep in mind, regarding the most recent episode, that while Ashton's behavior was extremely dangerous and reckless, it was not suicidal in intent. Ashton thought it would work. They thought that they would fix things, and they ignored all the smart people warning them against it because it would imply a lot of negative things about their parents. That doesn't mean it wasn't an action taken out of a certain lack of self-regard (Ashton's realization of this is what drives much of his conversations in the first half of the episode); but it's much more akin to an accidental overdose, or a drunk/reckless driving, or other dangerous choices. It feels very true to the idea of punk that Taliesin is going for, in which dying young is always very much a possibility, even perhaps an expectation; but not necessarily a goal. Ashton did not expect taking the shard to result in their death, and is incredibly shaken specifically because it did.
With that in mind I think the party's reactions seem very real and very understandable. The fact is, when someone does something very risky and nearly dies (or even is briefly clinically dead, using real-world terms) but ultimately survives it's extremely normal for one of the emotional responses to be anger that they put themselves in such danger. It is not, perhaps, rational, but most emotions aren't. It hurts a lot when someone one is close to does something that harmful to themselves. I don't judge the other members of Bells Hells for expressing those feelings. Frankly, them not expressing similar feelings in the past might very well be why Ashton made the decisions he did: the party lacking trust and walking on eggshells around each other is why he didn't confide in them, and why they fell apart so completely here.
I think it's relevant that Chetney tells Fearne, after stating he likes Ashton, that either she or Ashton can talk to him if they "want out", and he pretty heavily implies that this indicates not just leaving Bells Hells, but suicide, and that he has considered the latter in the past. It's clear that initially Chetney considers that a possible reason for Ashton's actions. He then gives Ashton the "You should leave" speech only after everyone present has been talking at dinner, after Ashton has indicated that he will help find Laudna. It only comes out after Ashton's emotional state is made more clear to him: it's pretty bad, but not actively at risk of self-harm (and indeed, desperately trying to avoid it and to change).
Finally, it's worth considering how important anger is to Ashton. Obviously I don't think having Imogen, FCG, and Chetney yell at them feels good. I also think it's going to feel better than apathy, and more honest than any other option. I don't think a forced gentleness would be better; in fact it might be worse, with them taking a break because clearly Ashton is having a hard time and needs to recover (shades of how Marisha mentioned Laudna feeling like a burden following her resurrection), rather than "we are clearly all in disarray and all have been not dealing with a lot of emotions, and this could have been any of us, and we should all regroup." I mentioned before that ultimately what's important is, angry as they are, Bells Hells undeniably stayed, and FCG and Imogen at least made it clear early on that they would, even if they were angry. Ashton was abandoned in the past by people who weren't even angry, is the thing. I don't think they cared enough to be.

I’m doing this quiz again one last time (?) because I’m still curious and wanna see if opinions have changed!
Reblog to get more eyes on the quiz and get more answers! I wanna see people’s thoughts!
I’m leaning towards Orym cause it rejected Ashton, Fearne is afraid of being evil (probably even more so now that we know who her dad is), and Orym is just such a “I’ll take it! I’ll carry the ring to Mordor” kinda guy you know? I don’t think he wants it but I think he’s willing to risk some shit

So. I think its worth noting that Laudna works to match the energy of other people in conversations, and I think its most evident here, with Ashton, but i feel like it is something she generally does. And she's, honestly, very good at.
Despite the cheery demeanor and the *waves hands around black goo* Laudna, especially in one on one conversations, will- be a little more hopeful, comforting, with a rattled Imogen. Gleeful and enthused with Fearne and fire, appreciative of fine art and craftsmanship with Chetney. And like, not within absurd extents, people do this all time.
But with Ashton, it becomes VERY apparent, because Ashton's vulnerability and Ashton's talks with Laudna especially are laid on foundations of. Harsh honesty. Pressing into bruises to see where the other person is hurt (to let them know you see them, that you're there for them). And Laudna matches it! Its something that's very- lots of teeth, but not quite a threat. They trade harsh questions and dismissive statements and painful honesty, a barter of vulnerability and discomfort. It is a sign of- respect.
And this conversation, I think, shows the extent to which Laudna has figured out how to navigate this, with Ashton, specifically. The barbed questions, the tit-for-tat of statements that press into recent bruises and offer up your own. It is not perfected yet, there are still statements that brush too far, moments where they bite back reflexively, where they mean it- i know loneliness. i literally pledged myself to one of the worst people Ive ever met, to work for them for years, for a bunch of people I haven't seen since.
But at the end of it all, Laudna cuts the hovering, the layers of back and forth, and sinks in a little deeper- "I've never known such kindness. And maybe, Ashton, you should cut yourself some slack, and let yourself feel the same."
At the end of it all- Ashton answers her questions, in their own way- about his past, about their losses, about the love for this new group and the fear with that.
"You know, I love you all, just a little bit."
"And you hate us just a little bit too."
They ask "Did you just what The Fuck Is Up With That me?" and that's the crux of it, right? Learning languages, prickly as they are.
