stupidly proud at how i'll very occasionally recognise/pick up on chinese words when watching the untamed. context helps of course, but nhs just addressed nmj and although the subtitle says "mingjue", he actually says "da ge" and i yelled because ahhh i actually know what that means!!!

#like i have friends who are actually learning chinese and can read/speak/write it fairly competently #and me knowing like 3?? very simple translations isn't at all impressive in comparison #but heyy that's 3 more than i knew a few months ago so!!#ashleigh speaks #ashleigh watches the untamed

things i've noticed on my untamed rewatch that have me screaming:

in ep 1 when wwx plays wangxian at mo manor, lan sizhui says “the melody sounds familiar, it seems like a melody from gusu” meaning that lwj must've been playing the song at least semiregularly in the cloud recesses over the last 13 years 🥺🥺 or maybe he just plays it to lan sizhui in particular??

obviously the mysterious man with the fan at mo manor is nhs DUHH!! but it’s sooooo good because you don’t yet know to associate nhs with the fan! it's only rewatching that you realise the answer was there the whole time

“it’s hard to say he isn't having fun with some mianmian or some yuandao right now” how did i miss this the first time round adhgjfxvkc we love to see it

the fact that wen ning (with the help of wwx) are the ones to save su she from the water demon is painfully ironic considering how su she will go ahead to fuck them both over in the years to come

and of couurrseee there are 5 parts to the yin iron!! we see it whole and unbroken in flashbacks and like it clearly has a filled in centre, which doesn’t match up with the pieces we’ve seen so far. like anyone with a brain can see that the centre piece is missing too!!
