The thing about Jack is: he's always been there. He's been a part of Connor's story since the draft, and will be a part of Connor's story for the rest of their careers. Maybe after, Connor thinks, on the days he catches himself lingering on posts about Jack while he's swiping through Instagram, maybe always.

Jack's hand touching his in the line felt hotter than the rest; Connor skated through the rest of the line, giving out the same good game acknowledgment to everyone, mouth on autopilot, legs pushing him down the ice one last time, making the same journey down another tunnel that he keeps making again, and again, and again.

He looks down at his hand in the shower, as if there's anything to see. As if there's a mark, or a brand; as if it's any different from last year, when the Oilers lost in four and he took in the thanks, man from MacKinnon and it wasn't like this, wasn't eating him alive and searing his skin.

He should just go home and sleep, but the heat of Jack's touch is still there, still lancing up his arm, and he lets it make stupid decisions for him, lets it send a few texts that no one will ignore because he's him, he's Connor McDavid, and now he knows where to go and what to do to either cool off the burn on his palm or let it turn him into ash.

That part's not up to him. Truly not up to him, not something he can know in advance or plan for. He just has to put one foot in front of the other, until he's standing in front of a hotel room door, knocking, listening for footsteps and hearing the heavy iron clack of the lever turning and the door swinging open and--

Jack.

He doesn't look surprised, but he doesn't say hello, either. He stands there for a moment, and then steps back, holding the door open.

Connor takes a deep breath and walks inside.

After about thirty years (read: a few months), I finally sat down and drew my character in my amazing friend Jane’s mystery campaign!!! The campaign takes place in a REALLY interesting setting Jane created that centers around animal characters who exist centuries after the extinction of humanity, and genuinely I think it has some of the most interesting and thorough worldbuilding I’ve ever seen.

My character here is Dr. Eric Lane! He’s the equivalent of an English professor in this world, though since the start of the campaign he’s been putting a lot of time into helping solve various mysteries and crimes around his home of Sudell, located in the Kingdom of Navence. My initial concept for him as a character was “a literature professor who fistfights his colleagues sometimes” and. Well. He is very confrontational and kind of aggressive, but as with all my OCs he is very very deeply sad under it all. Really, the main reason he’s so aggressive is because he never really learned how to deal with his own emotions.

I’m still figuring things out for Eric b/c I had a lot of trouble figuring him out, but I think I’m finally like. No he’s my boy and I love him and I am going to project all of my problems onto him. Some rapid-fire facts about him include:

- he’s trans of gender

- he’s gay

- he has a very good rapport with most of his students, and most of the incidents with him and his colleagues are because he’s noticed students being mistreated in some way and administration didn’t act quickly enough for his taste

- he has no social skills but like in a cute way

Anyway this caption is long good fucking god- But I just wanna say thank you Jane ( @violetyindigo ) for an absolutely incredible campaign; I’m so excited to see where it goes from here!!

Maybe now that I’m drawing again I’ll try and draw more for this. We’ll have to see tho

Super late to the ask game because I went to bed but- do you have a top 5 anime?

SCREAM!!!!! Yes yes I do

Gintama. This is my favorite anime ever (that I still haven't finished the last arc of bc I hate finishing things I love lmao...). It's remarkable how this show can make you laugh one moment and cry the next. And then cry from how hard you're laughing. Great use of a main character hero who has absolutely zero interest in saving the world lol. When you have someone presenting him a power up to rival other anime stars and he goes "nah, that sounds like a lot of work"? Unrivaled.

Black Clover. A STRONG second for me. I do enjoy the plot but I love love love the family most of all. The found family is WONDERFUL and I love this group of 13+ deranged freaks. <3 It's really only second to Gintama for me because I've had more time with Gintama and Gintama has proven to me that I literally could watch the characters watch paint dry lolol

Spy x Family. I think we can see here that the trend of things I like are "found family" and "they're all batshit insane (affectionate)". I'd die for the Forger family they're amazing. Send tweet.

Soul Eater. It did not age well whatsoever. Honestly it didn't even age well when I was watching it at the time lmfao. I'm reading the mangas rn and it can get asdfjkl painful at times. But man, I love these kiddos so, SO much. They really mean a lot to me and I think we see such genuine friendship between them. They're characters that I wouldn't even necessarily describe as a found family - or maybe they are, but don't follow the Nuclear Traditional Family trope which I absolutely love. It's a genuine friend group and I love these kids a lot :')

Stein's Gate. This anime was so confusing but man oh MAN I loved it. I need to do a rewatch one day because it was just *chef's kiss*

Bonus shoutout to Angel Beats and Assassination Classroom even if I mentally change their endings all the time. Also even though it's not on my list, I genuinely think FMA Brotherhood is the best anime of all time and I'm kind of disappointed in myself that it's not in my top 5 favorites list bc I love the characters sm and think it's objectively just. Mwah.

2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like) So I always liked Sansa tbh! I know a significant portion of fandom was annoyed with her in season 1 specifically, but she was just a kid, and it's real hard for me to dislike kid characters lol. I think the moment she became my favorite, though, was when she had the "how long do you want me to look?" scene. It was just such an amazing scene and SO well acted, and you could tell exactly what Sansa was thinking up there on the bridge. It was just *chef's kiss*

5. My favorite ship of them Probably Sansaery! I think they'd be super cute and any time I think of a modern AU for Sansa that's usually my go-to ship (though ships like Podrick/Sansa and Theonsa are also lovely and ones I adore!)

6. My least favorite ship of them Honestly take your pick lmao it's harder for me to say which fandom Sansa ships I don't hate asdfjkl. Lots of garbage there

14. Best storyline they had So I think just the general...trend? Of Sansa slowly learning the game is one that I really like. That's kind of like, an extended character arc, but I do think my favorite episode for her was the Purple Wedding episode. She only said what, one actual line, that entire episode? But you could tell so, so well what she was thinking once again.

23. Future headcanon This is kind of a Margaery lives AU lmao but I always like to think that she opened up an orphanage in the future with Margaery, to give kids a home and make sure that they're cared for.

TELL ME ALL YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT GRAVITY FALLS pleeeeeease I miss that show SO MUCH tbh might binge it this weekend after seeing the gifset you just reblogged

asdfjkl gosh honestly there’s so much I feel like I’ve forgotten about this beautiful show but!!! 

The characters. They are all just SO amazing and I feel like the main gang managed to both make me laugh and give me so, so many emotions??? Like even with Soos who I thought would probably stay comedic had some absolute bangers of emotional tugs on my heart in the last season. <3

So many shows do the whole “oh we’re just gonna. LIE about the things we’ve planted in the show” where they like....hm. It’s like how GRRM said - if you put everything saying “it’s the butler” and fans pick up on that and you change it to be “it’s the maid” it’s a shocking twist but ultimately not satisfying. Gravity Falls didn’t do that, their hints were intentional and if you got them, GREAT! That’s awesome!! They didn’t change thing out of a plot twist need and I love that. 

The storyline in general. It was a tight cohesive, good storyline and the way they carried it out was just *chef’s kiss*. Honestly the Grunkle Stan storyline....I just loved it so much so so much

Dude has chemistry with everyone.

Favorite episode and why I’d have to say the finale. It’s still the episode that stands out the most in my head and it gave me canon Rajalagang so honestly, how could I not love that one the most?? 

Funniest/crackiest/it’s-terrible-but-I-still-love-it episode/scene lmao let’s be real. The whole show. XD but 1x10 was fun with Wolfgang “Who Doesn’t Casually Have a Bazooka?” Bogdanow and Lito just being Lito lmao

It’s-terrible-and-I-hate it episode/scene This actually comes from the finale where Dani was having sex with Herlito - and honestly probably my only qualm with the show. I think it’s cool to do what you want with showing sexuality - whether it be having explicit labels, by having them be fluid, having Dani/Lito/Hernando in a QPR (as I personally headcanon), them having specific labels like gay but a broader definition of what that means (ex I have a friend who IDs as gay but said it’s just an easier term for him to use as opposed to biromantic homosexual) - I think they’re all valid and fair and the criticism that I’ve seen of Sense8 that insinuates that they’re not quite frankly suck. But, the show never made any of that explicit or clarified things later on, whether in-show or out of show (Lana’s only comment on them being pan made things a bit more confusing tbh with the show calling Lito gay and while that’s broader -- he’s still presented as only liking men, seemingly). And I feel like that lack of clarification makes the fact that people were uncomfortable or didn’t like what was shown sometimes with Lito (and by extension, Dani) is a fair one, because when nothing is clarified it’s cool to have different headcanons but it also leads to confusion and possible hurt when there didn’t reeeeeally need to be. 

Best episode/scene for my favorite character Ahem so I love them all AHHAHA so I’d say the finale again; it ended off so well for all my babies <3 <3 <3

Best episode/scene for a particular supporting character I’d say either the finale for Dani (seeing her be scary? chef’s kiss) orrrr 2x09 (”What a Family Actually Means”) and I think it was a great ep for the Herlito/Dani trio as well <3 

Best episode/scene for a character I don’t usually like asdfjkl I think. Maybe. 2x01 for Whispers. IDK I just think he did a good job in that one and it was a good one

Most visually beautiful or interesting episode/scene Oh gosh like all of them????? I think one of the really interesting ones for me was when Kala and Wolfgang were talking for the first real time in WWND -- seeing Kala explain her religion and have it be explained while they were flipping back and forth between rain in Germany to the sun in India and how Kala was feeling both at the same time? Beautiful talented amazing 

Most emotionally affecting episode/scene hmmm. 1x12 for sure with Riley especially. That really really got me 

Most powerful use of music in an episode/scene The fourth episode!!! With “What’s Going On?” Honestly peak, I loved it

Episode/scene that changed my perspective on the show Again idk if my perspective ever changed tbh

Episode/scene where the acting stands out 1x12!!! Purely for Riley although all the actors did awesome!!! Just seeing her pain and how paralyzing it felt - and Will explaining that he could feel it and he KNEW how hard it was for her - it really got me!! 

Overall best-written episode Hmmm. I’d say the season 2 finale; they did a really good job and gave a great cliffhanger and I think it was very well done
