A judge has found Calgary pastor Artur Pawlowski guilty of mischief for his role in protests against COVID-19 public health measures.
The protests at Coutts, Alta., blocked the province's main border crossing into the United States for more than two weeks in early 2022.
"I am satisfied Mr. Pawlowski intended to incite the audience to continue the blockade intended to incite protesters to commit mischief," Justice Gordon Krinke said as he delivered his verdict Tuesday.

Member Tejada: I’ve heard from many in Calgary-Klein who are worried about the Premier’s close relationship with groups like Take Back Alberta, how she tried to help extremists like Artur Pawlowski with his legal problems, and how she happily sat down with alt-right characters like Tucker Carlson, who, only weeks before he was welcomed to Alberta, described trans individuals as: demented. Will the Premier join me in condemning these statements?
Mr. Schow: I’m not sure where the member is getting her speaking notes from. Conversations about Tucker Carlson are a little bit stale if you’re asking me, personally. This time is to talk about government business.

Premier Danielle Smith says members of the Alberta legislature, including cabinet ministers, are not free to talk to accused people about their criminal court cases, but her call to a man facing charges was OK.
Smith, asked Thursday whether her phone call to Calgary street pastor Artur Pawlowski represents a change in government policy, replied that the long-standing firewall separating politicians and the justice system remains in place.
"There’s no change of policy; it's what it has always been: that the Crown prosecutors and the judicial system operate independently," Smith told reporters in Brooks, Alta., a city in her constituency of Brooks-Medicine Hat.
Smith reiterated that she did nothing irregular on the 11-minute call, which took place in early January, concerning Pawlowski’s looming trial related to the COVID-19 border protest at Coutts, Alta., in early 2022.
The call was leaked to the opposition NDP, which played it for reporters more than a week ago. On the call, Smith is heard telling Pawlowski that the charges against him are politically motivated while offering to make inquiries on his behalf and report back to him.
Smith also shares details with him about internal disagreements over Crown strategy and commiserates with him when he accuses the Crown of trying to overwhelm his lawyers and drain his wallet through a late-day “document dump.”
Legal experts say the call was a clear violation of the democratic guardrail that keeps politicians from having a say in who gets charged and how cases are prosecuted.
Smith has said that she promised in her United Conservative Party leadership campaign last year to explore amnesty for people accused of violating COVID-19 health restrictions. She has also said that she was later advised by officials that her office did not have the power to grant amnesties and that the cases must play out independently, and she accepted that advice.
"My job as a politician is to consult with a broad range of people and raise their concerns, and then ultimately, in this particular case, take the advice of my justice minister," Smith said.
“The conversations I had with my justice officials took place several months ago. The court cases still haven’t come down. We’re still waiting.”
Opposition NDP Leader Rachel Notley told reporters in Calgary that Smith continues to dig a hole for herself on the issue. “What we heard from the premier today is that she was actually given advice by justice officials to stay out of the court and justice process concerning a whole range of people who had been charged,” Notley said.
"Having been given that advice, (Smith) decided she was above the law, and she did in fact engage directly, as was also heard on the call advising Pawlowski that she was regularly questioning justice officials about their pursuit of cases relating to violations of COVID-19 restrictions.
Last Saturday, on her call-in radio show, Smith declined to answer when asked if she regretted the call with Pawlowski, saying that she has lots of conversations with people and was surprised the call with Pawlowski was recorded.
At a news conference earlier this week, Smith announced that, because she is contemplating a lawsuit, she will stay silent on the advice of her lawyer.
A notice of defamation letter sent from lawyers on behalf of Smith calls on the CBC to retract and apologize for a January story. The story stated a member of her staff sent emails to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service challenging how it was handling court cases from the Coutts blockade.
Smith has said a review found no evidence of contact between her office and the prosecution service. The CBC has said it stands by its reporting.
The notice of defamation letter gives the CBC until April 28 to retract its article and apologize or face potential legal action, which could be days before a writ drop for the provincial election.
Smith has long been critical of COVID-19 masking, gathering, and vaccine mandate rules, questioning whether the measures were needed to fight the pandemic.

Two people were arrested at a transphobic protest that took place outside a Calgary high school on Wednesday.
The demonstration on the grounds of Western Canada High School in the 600 block of 17 Avenue S.W. was led by Josh Alexander, an Ontario teen who previously protested the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board’s decision to allow transgender teens to use bathrooms according to their gender identity.
It was also organized by True Dominion Canada, an ultra-conservative group led by Nathaniel Pawlowski, son of Calgary street preacher Artur Pawlowski.
The poster for the protest featured transphobic and homophobic statements, claiming “radical gender ideology” is “sexualizing children.”
Both Nathaniel and Josh were met by a group of counter-protesters, some of which are students at the high school. [...]

Another dream about prophet Artur Pawlowski ,
the beginning of the dream I was weeping and
weeping with all that was within me,
Holy Spirit was filling me that is why
I was weeping,I wanted more of Him,
than I look in front of me more I think prayers
and more of Holy Spirit coming towards me.
I was sitting on the south of a rectangular table,
to my to my left a man I do not know,
and to my right was Artur Pawlowski
and lots of people where to my left and right
after Art and the other man which where right beside me,
I was weeping and weeping with all that was within me
calling on the Holy spirit to fill me,
I can not explain, it was like burning inside of me
because of the presence of the Holy Spirit
people where giving to the man on my left
but the Lord wanted me to give to my right and that was Art ,
the song that I heard in the end of the dream
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKGeKRn2bSU
than I woke up ,
a wonderful sister in Christ her name is Wendy and she walks
in the Spirit gave me this interpretation of the dream
Matthew 25:33 says 25:33 says He will place the sheep
on His Right and the goats on on His left .
please pray Gods will be done and that support and finances are allocated correctly.
may financial support to Satan's kingdom cease and the "angels of the light workers be exposed in the name of Jesus,

Canadian Pastor Convicted of Inciting Mischief in Trucker Protests Facing Up to 10 Years Prison
By Allan Stein from
Pastor Artur Pawlowski’s troubles with the Canadian authorities began long before his sermon to commercial truckers encouraging their peaceful defiance against what he thought were “oppressive” public health mandates for COVID-19.
In 2005, he began serving and ministering to downtown Calgary—Alberta’s poor and downtrodden. “In other words, feeding the homeless and praying for them, which is now illegal,” he described to The Epoch Times in a telephone interview while under house arrest in Calgary following his court conviction in May for inciting mischief and violating his release conditions.
The police eventually showed up at Mr. Pawlowski’s church, telling him he couldn’t feed the homeless by law. Neither was he allowed to assemble or preach in public.
Such actions are also illegal and punishable with tickets, fines, and even jail time.
He added that tensions with the authorities had reached the point where police showed up at his church weekly.
During the pandemic, he received 40 tickets for COVID-19 violations, including one for a Christmas celebration he said drew a response from over 100 police officers, 52 police vehicles, as well as anti-terrorism units.
Over 300 Citations Between 2005 and 2015, Mr. Pawlowski said he received over 300 citations for refusing to stop preaching, feeding the homeless, and doing what he thought was helpful to those in need.
He was arrested and charged in 2006 for reading the Bible in public, and considers being the first Canadian to receive a COVID-19 ticket for feeding the homeless a badge of honor in what he’d say was righteous defiance.
“I asked them a simple question: ‘What do you think will happen to the homeless if we kick them out of shelters and shut down soup kitchens?'” he said of his efforts.
On Aug. 9, Mr. Pawlowski, a native of Poland and an acolyte of the “Solidarity Movement,” could receive up to 10 years in prison for the charge of “inciting mischief” during Canada’s nationwide trucker protests last year.
The protests rose in response to the public health rules of Canada’s Trudeau administration, sparking a massive “Freedom Convoy” from like-minded residents that threatened to bring the nation’s economy to a halt unless COVID-19 restrictions that were also impacting the economy and mental health were lifted.
Response to Government Overreach As a Christian minister, Mr. Pawlowski said he believed he was waging a spiritual battle against “government overreach” during the pandemic, even if it means he has to pay fines, get arrested, or go to jail.
On Feb. 7, 2022, at the border crossing blockade in Coutts, Alberta, Mr. Pawlowski told a crowd of commercial truckers, “It’s about time for Canadians to rise up and start roaring.”
“For the first time in two years, you’ve got the power. They’ve got the guns, yes—it’s all useless when you all rise up. There is no tyrant big enough that can stop [the] masses.”
Canadian authorities arrested and charged him with inciting mischief and interfering with essential infrastructure under Alberta’s Critical Infrastructure Defense Act of 2020.
The Critical Infrastructure Defense Act “protects essential infrastructure from damage or interference caused by blockades or similar activities, which can cause significant public safety, social, economic and environmental consequences.”
“Of course, if you listened to my service, you will know that I said no guns, no swords, just stand for God and human rights during my sermon three times,” he said of the accusation.
Mr. Pawlowski said he spent 50 days in prison, mostly in solitary confinement surrounded by concrete cells, before he was placed in maximum security and a psychiatric ward without evaluation.
The court found him guilty of inciting mischief in May. Judge Gordon Krinke placed him under 12-hour daily house arrest until his sentencing date.
Months later, he is “still under house arrest in Calgary,” he said.
Belief on Trial “I am the first Canadian where my sermon and speech were on trial. Everything was about what I said. The lawyers argued what I meant. It was a charade, a show trial—a joke,” Mr. Pawlowski said.
“I was not allowed to say a word as they debated what I said and what I meant. They couldn’t agree on the wording.”
Mr. Pawlowski said he is also the first Canadian citizen charged with eco-terrorism in the history of Canada.
“And now, the judge ruled I am the first Canadian ever to be found guilty of inciting mischief and eco-terrorism,” Mr. Pawlowski said. “The Canadian courts are upside down. I am a political prisoner. It has nothing to do with law and order,” he expressed.
Mr. Pawlowski told The Epoch Times he had received offers of money and government positions in exchange for his silence, but he’s “not for sale.”
“I have seen this movie before” under communism in Poland, he said. “It does not end well.”
