in my last post i included sketches of my partner's and my wanderhome characters and one with all of the forgotten gods our party members carry with them, listed below:
in the backpack Peat wears, there is a large chest of drawers; each of five drawers contains miniature transient shrines for the following deities:
Furtive, a god of dust bunnies and cobwebs. I envision em as a literal dust bunny, and in our campaign, Mawar is actually the one who originally found "Furt" in an abandoned farm house and brought em to Peat to shelter. Er presence is silent but comforting.
Lilt, a god of a tossed-aside creature. I envision her as an empty cicada shell, and because she is so fragile and delicate, Peat treats her very preciously and "hosts" her in a cushioned box with a glass window when she is inside her shrine. Her presence is reserved but caring.
Ravel, a god of tangled yarn. I envision it as a tattered little crocheted/knitted ragdoll in the likeness of a puppy, that was lost by a child long ago. That child's lifelong wistful hope of reunion gave Ravel the divine power of loyalty born of love, as its first devotee. Its presence is patient and full of mirth.
Woad, a god of a mossy boulder. I envision him as a mossy rock carved into the shape of a toad. He was originally a stone that was vaguely toad-shaped, until someone happened upon him and decided to take the time and chisel out just enough detail to definitively represent a toad. He was kept by different artists over the years, each one chiseling a personal touch of detail that refined Woad into a sacred relic. By the time of our journey, Woad had been lost to the ages, half-buried in dirt and moss until the humble farmer Peat unearthed the stone while tilling the edges of his field. It was then Peat realised that once you stop and listen, you learn that there are little holy things everywhere, that once meant everything to someone. Woad's presence is wise and stable.
A nameless, ancient god seeking refuge. I envision it as a prehistoric-looking turban shell that contains a hermit crab. Since animals are the people in this game, and bugs (and fish?) are the animals, I feel like crustaceans toe that line in a fun and almost cryptid, alien way. Peat came across the shell during his first visit to a port town, when he stopped by the harbour to listen to the waves and overheard a mysterious and urgent murmur. Its presence is frightened and wild.
my partner's character Mawar is the Fool, and one of the elements the playbook for that class outlines is:
Cedie, a small and forgotten god who has decided to accompany Mawar on her journeys. I'll have to ask my partner more about the specific details here, but we envision that Cedie represents childlike wonder and creativity, so the form that the god inhabits is a clay rattle in the shape of a Hercules beetle, since rattles are some of the oldest known toys and the ancient Greeks made some excellent animal shaped rattles. Here's lookin' at you, pig.

time......to wanderhome. I'm playing a fluffy ram shepherd named Arthur who's an old rebel still grieving the lost war but finds solace in his bumbles. He also has a herding mud dauber who's his baby (tho she is like ten years old fmmsmf) who helps him keep the herd together and protects them

my partner and i are setting up a campaign of wanderhome and i already love how our party is coming together
their characters (we're each doing two) are a gouldian finch named Kim (they're a Poet) and a sumatran striped rabbit named Mawar (she's a Fool). my characters are a star-nosed mole named Peat (he's a Caretaker) and a grey fox named Zinnia (she's in Exile)

i envision the forgotten gods in this game to be cast aside objects, given new life by those who now value them. you can read more about the forgotten gods scattered about mawar here.

i may post more about them; they're already developing so vividly and it's a lot of fun coming up with human poses and actions for animals, and adjusting their clothes to accommodate them.
