11. acting surprised when they end up under the mistletoe together - for Vince and Archer
Archer’s eyes swept the room as soon as he walked into the holiday gathering. The smile that touched his lips as soon as he saw him with automatic. He & Vince had been flirting & spending more time together recently. The blond had done his best to find excuses just to see him whenever he could. “Merry Christmas,” he said as he approached him.
Vince spun around & his face instantly lit up when he saw who was speaking to him. “Merry Christmas to you,” he chuckled. “I didn’t realize you were here.”
“I just got here. I haven’t even made the rounds or grabbed a drink yet,” Archer shrugged.
“So you wanted to start the night off right be saying hello to me first?” Vince beamed.
Archer blushed slightly, nodding. “You caught me. I’ll admit it.”
“You make me feel special.”
“You are.” Archer looked over the man’s shoulder then his eyes moved up.
Confused for a moment, Vince glanced back & noticed his older sister standing here. “Look up,” she whispered. He did as he was told & his heart immediately started to speed in his chest. He could hear her giggle as she wandered off.
“Mistletoe,” Archer laughed.
“Mhm,” Vince hummed nervously in response.
“Look, no press-“ He was cut off by his companions lips crashing into his. When he’d noticed the decoration, he’d been hopeful but not expecting anything. Now, locked into the most delicious kiss, the rest of the guests faded away.

The Next Step V
"So you really loved Tobias, didn't you?"
"I did," he answered without hesitation. "I don't think I'd believed that that kind of earth shattering love existed until I met Tobias. When I was with Levi, the rest of my life was hard to imagine without him in it because that's what I had always thought would happen. Levi was a part of the plan, plain & simple. Then everything got so confusing & I gave into something I didn't quite understand yet. I hurt someone that I really cared about & life as I knew it turned on its head. I had loved Levi but the way that I felt about Tobias was completely different & new & exciting. Everything happened so quick. I was with him every single day & we were married within six months. I realize now that it was some sort of sick codependency that we created. Especially since I had lost my best friend. I felt judged by my friends & family for everything that had happened, for everything that I had done. I'd tossed around the idea of dropping out of college anyway but now I had to because I was married to a professor & the school had very strict student teacher fraternization policies in place. He took care of me & eventually brought me on with the label. I really felt like I needed him. He made sure that I needed him," he added softly.
"It sounds like you were looking for what was missing & found the extreme," Vince commented.
"That's a good way of putting it," he admitted. "With Tobias, I felt like without him, my whole world would come crumbling down."
"Did it?"
"At times, I felt like it was. When I found out that he had betrayed me & lied to me, it called every moment since we had met into question. I thought he loved me the way that I loved him, needed me the way that I needed him. Really he'd had his own agenda the whole time. He loved me but I was always a means to an end. I provided him with this picture perfect life that he had always dreamed of having & when I didn't offer it to him on a silver platter, he found a way to take it for himself anyway." He let out a sour scoff, shaking his head. "Had he cheated on me & betrayed me like that, I probably would have stayed & worked it out. Hell, I still considered working it out more times than I care to admit. Something really broke in me though when he admitted he'd been going behind my back, against my wishes, to make sure I got pregnant."
"Holy shit," Vince breathed. He'd only heard Archer make vague references to why his marriage had ended. He'd never known the details.
"And then, because I'm an overachiever, I only went on to make things worse. Not only for me but for a lot of other people too..."

i can’t imagine my life without you.
For legacy Archer and Vince
Feather light touches trailing up his spine. A gentle kiss pressed against his shoulder blade. The sun warming his skin. Vince couldn’t think of a better way to wake up.
He rolled over & smiled up at the blond who was leaning on his elbow, watching him with a look of adoration. “Good morning,” he cooed, his voice still raspy from sleep. “Creep,” he added playfully.
“What? You’re cute when you sleep,” Archer laughed before swooping down for a kiss.
“What about when I’m awake?” He raised a brow.
“Hmm…” the blond hummed, pretending to consider this.
Vince slapped his chest. “Mean!”
“I was trying to come up with the perfect way to describe you. There’s too many words & they still don’t do you justice. Adorable. Beautiful. Sexy,” he smirked as he listed the last one.
“You’re so smooth, Mr. Hawke,” Vince grinned. He stretched then pushed the blanket off of him so that he could sit up. “I didn’t realize that camping could be so fun.”
Archer sat up too & rubbed his boyfriend’s back. “I told you I would make it fun. I’ve always loved camping but haven’t had anyone to go with for a long time. Thanks for coming & giving it a chance. It makes me ridiculously happy that I can share this with you.”
“You’re welcome but you know that I would do almost anything if it meant we got to spend time together.” He leaned against the blond. “I love you & I love having adventures & experiencing new things with you.”
Archer wrapped an arm around him & brushed his lips against his temple. “I love you too, baby. I hope to have a lot more adventures with you for a long time to come.”
“Me too,” Vince sighed contently.
“I’m honestly at the point where I can’t imagine my life without you. I know I keep saying this but you make me really happy.”
Vince nuzzled against him, feeling elated & like he was right where he belonged with this man. “I feel exactly the same way.”
