listen,, the gang (jimon, malec, clizzy, meliorn/raphael, Chief Luke) + greys anatomy au

sorry this got a little long but !! im so here for it tbh

(also theres very little like, surgery stuff in here at all oops)

clary, simon, + the lightwoods are all interns

magnus, raphael, meliorn are attendings

simon is always walking around nervously reciting surgical procedures and diagnoses and lowkey hasn’t slept in like three years

jace thinks it’s hella annoying so he vows to be better than him just to shut him up

clary and izzy ofc become fast friends and they always go to the bar together after work and talk and clary falls hard and Fast

one day clary’s having a really bad day and she’s not sure if she’s cut out for surgery (she gets mad at simon when he makes a pun about “cut out for surgery”) and izzy tells her what an amazing surgeon she’ll be etc etc

“not as good as you,” clary says

“well, no, maybe not,” izzy says (only somewhat teasingly, she did skip a few grades after all) “but you don’t have to be the best to be great. and i believe in you.”

so later that week when they go to the bar clary asks izzy if she wants to come back to her place and the rest is, you know, history 

meanwhile jace and simon have been competing for the number of surgeries to scrub into but jace didn’t know that simon has the Worst competitive streak on planet earth and is picking up shifts to beat jace and losing even /more/ sleep and it’s making jace really worried so one day he confronts simon about it

but simon’s just thinking that jace wants to win the competition so he’s like “i’m fine and if i wasn’t i would talk to clary, not you.”

cue Hurt Pining Jace™ going over to alec’s and saying “men are the worst”

except alec has a smile on his face. a very….. Different smile. 

backtrack: magnus is a fine neurosurgeon and neurosurgery is, unsurprisingly, alec’s dream. except alec always has too much tension and magnus is always telling him that he’s going to need to relax, and while he tries to be professional he might…. slip in an innuendo or two

alec barely speaks around magnus most of the time bc Gay Stutter but magnus sees the way he interacts with his siblings, the other interns, and the attendings so he knows he’s not just talented and smart but kind and compassionate and incredibly loyal 

with this in mind an invitation to one party hosted by magnus bane may just slip into alec’s locker one night

alec believes his decision to attend the party is one of the boldest things he’s done for a guy

he and magnus get a little drunk, things Happen™ but afterwards they stay up until almost four in the morning talking - it seems sex does, in fact, make alec not only relax but also open up 

(magnus has a million jokes for this about improving alec’s surgical skills, you know, “for the good of the citizens of new york city”)

but actually they end up talking about how this isn’t a one-off for either of them, and they go on dates as much as they can for the next two weeks

back to the present: jace is lamenting his attraction to men (or one man in particular) when oops, magnus stumbles out of alec’s bedroom half-undressed

jace’s jaw may be on the floor. whatever. he’s in shock okay

jace rotates between excited for alec, worried for alec, and confused about how they even got together and magnus is ready to talk through it all (discussing alec is his favorite subject and his friends never indulge him) but alec kicks jace out and says to make up with his boy

jace confronts luke about simon working too much and luke says he knows, of course, but says /jace/ doesn’t get Why simon is pushing himself

jace talks to clizzy and they’re like jace. honey. he’s doing it to impress you

so one night instead of bragging about all the surgeries he’s had he asks simon about what he’s seen and what he’s been able to do and simon of course talks his ear off

but jace loves his enthusiasm and his smile and how smart and kind he is so when they get a moment alone he can’t help himself when he interrupts simon with a kiss

“….sorry,” he breathes, and simon’s face starts to fall, until: “i just couldn’t wait anymore.”

most people think raphael is this cold shut off person but one day they’re all invited to magnus’ for his birthday party and raphael and meliorn are sitting together holding hands the entire time

everyone’s a little shocked and then meliorn waxes poetic about how the stars aligned for him many years ago when he met his One, raphael and everyone expects raphael to kinda make fun of that mentality but instead he just looks down on the ground and is that - blush? on his cheeks? 

after everyone is gone except the main kiddos magnus decides to take a Risk (because he’s a little drunk and a lot in love) and kisses alec square on the mouth and everyone kinda stares and then cheers 

alec is kind of nervous about everyone knowing but then magnus smiles at him and he doesn’t really care anymore

clary’s birthday rolls around and she invites all of the gang over plus luke and jocelyn and when luke sees that all of these employees of his are together he just smiles and shakes his head and mutters “this is gonna be a lot of paperwork”
