So, while skipping through episodes, I had to witness (again) that messy clusterfuck that is the entirety of 9x11.
Once scene struck me because I hadn't payed much attention the first time, I was too pissed off. When Harry concocted that absolutely nonsense thing about the fake marriage, all people in the room laughed and mocked and fake-complimented, and they were all saying stupid things because it was funny, to them.
Danny himself, at one point, says his usual Mazel Tov line, and they all laugh. See? Even Cath is mildly amused that she gets to be a fake wife because thank god she escaped the real thing (yeah, she would've said Yes to Steve's proposal, maybe...only to jump on the next black helo and disappear for months or years with radio silence because only her job, not a relationship, was giving meaning to her life). She expects Steve to laugh too:

Does he though?
Hm. Not really.

Steve is SO amused by this shit, you can see it perfectly! His face spotlessly mirrors Danny's, who says his line not laughing like everyone else, but sporting this face:
Tumblr media
Totally amused by the plot.

If I had a nickel for every time a character named Steve got his character development thrown out of the window for the sake of a long-dead romance I would have three nickels.
It’s not much but it’s frustrating weird that it happened thrice.

The last 10 minutes of H50, that speech and *her* appearance, it's like it was written by either a McRoll fan or for those fans. Only one relationship has given Steve love, support, and has been healthy and that's Danny, but that speech was a big fuck you, like trying to remove any and all good that Steve's relationship with Danny was just to justify/make the unhealthy toxic as hell McRoll shit happen. I dont usually crap on other pairings, you like what you like and theres a reason for that. But by god, Steve's relationship with Catherine was so....unhealthy to the point that even the actor himself didnt want them back together but it's like they just went fuck all yall...Steve doesn't really care about danny or what they've been through. He only stayed in hawaii because of john and now, he's gonna run off with the woman who told him he wasnt enough for her, who constantly chose something else over him, who through her actions almost caused him to be beheaded and didnt even come back to be at his side (sounds familiar doesn't it? Tell me her actions dont run parallel to Doris?) My god...the last 10mins have now fallen into the same void of VLD s8 (and GoT even tho I never saw that series)
I hate it

I was reading this article that's has an interview with Katrina about the finale and there was this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first reading I immediately thought "MCDANNO?!" but after thinking about it, knowing how vocal that group is on Instagram and Twitter and that Michelle has been seen on set, I'm now relatively sure it's about Catherine and a McRoll endgame and that makes..... very upset. I do not like that. Not one bit. Not that I ever actually expected McDanno to ever be canon but I for sure do not want Steve to end up with Catherine and leave with her. That's crap. This answer by Katrina just makes me worried and lowered my expectations of a satisfying ending for Steve and the rest of the Ohana. Sorry to be bitter or negative. I try not to be but ugh. It's hard sometimes.

1, 2, 3, both 5's, 6, 7 and 12
1.) What’s your first name? - Shelby
2.) How old are you? - Old enough to not want to answer this question! lol.  No, I’m 42. Yikes!
3.) What’s your favorite subject in school?  Science!
5.) What are your main ships?  I love McDanno and Kono/Danny.
5.) Do you have any NOTP’s?  I certainly won’t do Kono/Chin.  No cuz love here.  And that’s just more of a incest squick tbh.  I am sort of anti-McRoll if you consider how they trashed her character.  I did/do support them early on (S3 and before) but now they have just made it so dysfunctional.
6.) What is your sexuality? I’m bi-sexual but I feel I am probably more pansexual if I really study it.
7.) What is your current relationship status?  I’m married.
12.) Do you have any scars?  A few.  Nothing that is disfiguring or noticeable though.  One is in my eyebrow from when I was 7 and fell down skating and busted my head open.   The others are from my C-section when my son was born, and 3 small ones around my shoulder from a tendon tear around my rotator cuff that was repaired.

I swear, the more Lenkov insists on bringing Cath back (as he plans to do next season), the more convinced I am that he’s only doing to it to avoid having to make McDanno canon.
Because he cannot seriously expect us to believe that the right person for Steve is somebody who has lied to him multiple times, someone who, to all intents and purposes, abandoned him to almost be beheaded by the Taliban and someone who doesn’t seem to have any intentions whatsoever to commit to him.
It just defies explanation.

Am I the only one who thinks Steve wanting to marry Catherine all of a sudden makes absolutely no sense?

This is why they should've consulted Alex about the series finale, and respected his opinion:
from
~
Does he still consider her the one who got away?
O'Loughlin:
No, Catherine's not the one that got away. Catherine's the one that wasn't meant to be. He understands that. He respects that. And he respects her and her choices, but I think now, knowing what he knows, there's also a sense of relief, a quiet kind of acceptance and relief, that it happened the way it did. Because imagine if they'd had kids, if they'd got married and had kids, and then she had this, like, "Oh, I've got to go and I can't tell you anything." That'd be really bad. That'd be kind of unforgivable. So at least now, the love that they had, he can hold in a sacred place that can always be nurtured. But it's not something he's going to yearn for now, because he understands it.
Frankly, the way she conducted herself wasn't great. It wasn't great. And even though he forgives her for that, that's kind of a tell-tale sign. That's more like Doris than he is comfortable with. So that doesn't take anything away from how he feels about her, but he's able to step back and go, yeah, I don't want to marry my mom.

~
Switching gears to Catherine, she gives McGarrett her blessing about his relationship with Lynn. Based on that final scene between Catherine and McGarrett, is there any hope for them to reunite?
O'Loughlin:
I have no say in what they write, but if you're asking me what I think, McGarrett doesn't need Catherine's blessing to do anything. The way she left things, it was pretty disgraceful. He is a high-end special operator for the US government. He was at the highest level. And so, you don't need to pull the top-secret card with someone like that, who understands the lay of the land. There's another way you can do it that's not gonna hurt people. So, the way she did it was kind of gnarly. It was much more like Doris. And so, as far as he's concerned, he's going to do what he's going to do. He certainly doesn't feel obliged to make sure he's got a blessing from her.
That being said, it does offer some closure for him. It's now been finished the right way. I just think if she came back and went, "I'm available"... first of all, he really likes Lynn. She's a great girl. And I don't think he would just ditch her. That would be the wrong thing to do. And if he just jumped back into a relationship with Catherine, I think he's an idiot. You have no self-respect? There's no sense of self-protection or self-preservation? If that happens, I'll play it the way it needs to be played, but it would seem like doing something like that would be a cry for help. He's an idiot if he does. That would have to be a means to an end for a storyline.

tagging @teruel-a-witch and @bgharison because I sort of had these same conclusions with them and now?? I see??? That Alex himself has the same opinion on marrying Cath????
