20 Reasons Why I’m Still Alive

(Incomplete list of reasons I haven’t offed myself)

1. If I committed suicide, people would say, “Oh, how sad!” and/or “Well, that person clearly had issues.” I’d just make people upset, or feel useless pity, or disassociate from my suffering. There’s no happy ending or right solution.

2. I did my research, and there is absolutely NO dignified or painless way to go out. You’re always gonna hurt somewhat, and you’re always going to pee yourself (or something worse!) when it’s over. Not only will you suffer, you will suffer stupidly because you did it to yourself.

3. There are people in this world, and animals too, who I haven’t met yet, and I need to be there for them.

4. There are movies I haven’t seen yet

5. Daft Punk has more albums to release

6. Steven Universe is still airing, and I haven’t seen Lapis or Peridot fuse with anybody yet... I love seeing fusions

7. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has yet to be cancelled (I’m not a “brony,” but I’ve loved MLP since I was five)

8. I’ve always wanted my own cat

9. I haven’t visited Loch Ness or Lake Kaindy

10. I’ve always wanted to publish a book or make a film

11. I absolutely cannot die until I’ve participated in a fursuit dance competition

12. I’ve only been to one convention, and I’d like to visit Anthro Con

13. I want to get married some day

14. Maybe I could adopt a child, too

15. I want to give therapy a fair chance, and get all my questions about mental health and relationships answered

16. Hans Zimmer’s masterclass hasn’t even started!

17. There are awesome plants and fungi I haven’t discovered yet

18. Maybe my friends will come around? Maybe we can sort things out and apologize to each other and avoid future mistakes instead of avoiding me... if not, I’ll somehow have to find a different way to feel redeemed and satisfied.

19. I haven’t moved out yet

20. My dog would wonder when I’d be coming back, but nobody would be able to explain to him that I’m not

There are so many reasons to stay alive, and they don’t all have to be huge and profound. Keep going, guys.
