Let's talk about... Poppy Ratchapong Anomakiti

(This post is inspired by @angelbesideme who didn't know who Poppy was when I rambled on about him in some tags on a post about Tankhun in Kinnporsche. The gist of that ramble is that I love that Tong is getting to play such a complex character with Tankhun since all he had been given before kp was very plain characterisation.

And it's similar with Poppy - in that Poppy is FANTASTIC at the slapstick comedy characters but I just know he would slay a serious role and I really hope he's given the chance in the future. So @angelbesideme this is for you.)

I first became aware of Poppy in YYY, in which he plays Porpla - a yaoi fan and owner of a boarding house...who is either trans or a drag queen (apologies for not knowing exactly).

And in my awareness of him I learnt he was also in Why R U? and Lovely Writer, both of which I had already watched and not really noticed him in...so I went back to see.

In Why R U? he plays Junior - a class clown character and friend of Zon...so with similar slapstick theatrics to YYY...(on the right below)

But in Lovely Writer, he plays Jap, Gene's brother - I think he's the older brother but with the characters' dynamic he sometimes acts like a bratty younger brother - but either way, it's a little more *ahem* 'straight acting'...

And then most recently he's played Foei in Cutie Pie - Lian's wonderful assistant. He's back in a slapstick role but oh my god he was so good. So cute, so darling, so upstaging.

BUT having said that, I really want to see him play something serious, deep, challenging, angsty, soul-destroying (mine), and H E A V Y.

Praying to the bl gods to bring this about...not that it has to be a bl...I would watch him in anything just to see it.

kinnporsche wasnt just a show for me, it was an experience. it gave me one of my most favourite characters (kinn, if anyone is curious) and helped me make more friends and meet more creators and see their amazing work.

What I loved about the show was how character driven the plot was, even if we all could predict what was gonna happen next. and of course, the actors acted their ass off making this show legit a standard in its genre.

To appreciate these characters and actors who did justice to them, i have made like 22 ( math and I arent on good terms, I made a webweave for everyone leaving jom and tem because i didnt have enough information on them as individuals)

Its my first attempt at webweaves and tbh quite proud of it and hence want to share it with you guys who made KP fandom what it it is for- a joyful, hilarious and creative space - thank you you all

Bad Buddy One Year Anniversary Rewatch

There’s only one month left until Bad Buddy’s first anniversary on Oct. 29th, which means we're all due for a rewatch soon! I talked Nuria @mrdumpling into doing this event with me, we haven't done this kinda thing before & we've been so excited about this (minus the part where GMMTV announced theirs first🙄 lol). We hope you guys will join us!

This event is from Oct 29th - Nov 16th. I wanted this to be fun for everyone, so the pace is a little slow— the schedule below gives us one day in-between episodes, minus weekends & the finale, so hopefully there's less stress over falling behind/finding time to watch.

i mean there's the obvious ep5 4/4 fight followed by the best kiss in cinematic history. but also pat in the music shop discovering that he likes pran. and pat shouting his love to pran in the architecture faculty. and pat and pran's scene in the corridor with the guitar. and inkpa hotpot date and the photography room scene. the entire episode 8 & 11 (im cheating ik). i will keep on listing all the scenes if i don't stop.

one thing you would change about the show if you could

i wish there was just one discussion about wai being a dick to pran in ep8/9. like i wouldn't change what happened but like after all the dust had settled and all the friends were ok with patpran, i hope there was a discussion or even a mention of that wai apologised to pran somewhere behind the scenes and pran mentioned this to pat. (and i'm not sure if os2 counts but i would most def change ep3 of the crossover where they are just getting lost and screaming each others' names again and again sksksks)

For KinnPorsche week day 1, I had to choose Porsche, specifically Momfriend Porsche. I love so many of the characters in the show, but Porsche's desire to just take care of everyone is so endearing to me. Is he a disaster bi? Yes. Does he struggle with making good decisions in the face of any pressure? Absolutely. But he's also someone, who once he's emotionally attached to you, will be there any way you need. There's many jokes here about his single braincell struggling to keep up with the world around him, and that's valid, but there's an emotional intelligence to Porsche that really shines when he's talking one on one with people.

There's a focus in the show on his skills as a fighter, and the other skills he develops as a bodyguard, but I love the small glimpses into domestic Porsche. One of my favorite quotes has always been "Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength." (Saint Francis de Sales) and it's one that I think applies so accurately to Porsche.

my coloring process is just making everything very very colorful. I usually use like 10+ selective color layers. levels, curves and color balance are all very helpful too. I also love using photo filter a lot. and for b&w gifs I usually make them much darker than they are aaaand idk what else to say. thank you again for tagging me! <3

i’m a baby gifmaker so the process is just full on chaos tbh. my go to is making everything darker and adding some contrast which i guess is best shown in the bad buddy and kinn gifs.

coloring wise i mostly just do whatever i want tbh. it’s easiest to enhance what’s already there so that’s what i mostly do! the only show i’ve giffed somewhat consistently is kinnporsche, which is overall a show with many yellow and orange tones so i mostly use color balance to add more warmth to it. and that’s pretty much it, add some mediocre sharpening and there we are. 

and if i want a certain vibe and i actually decide to change things up coloring wise like with most of the sejeong gifs, i use selective color (everyone say thank you mor <3). and i mean, logically i know how colors work but i mostly just mess around with all the options till i somewhat get a vibe i like. ahfjdksg like i said. chaos. 

oh and sometimes i add a layer of noise because i like the texture of it!
