𝐗𝐗𝐗𝐕𝐈. Dain’s inherent connection to Irminsul via his consciousness, analogous to Greater Lord Rhukkadevata.
I’m more awake now and new ideas came that can support the last night’s premise concerning Dain taking over the role of having his consciousness directly linked to Irminsul. So I’ll be expanding on that one and address something that I left in the air for me to sit on and consider further:
Firstly, why not connect his soul to Irminsul instead of his consciousness?
If we take Halfdan as an example, we see a man worn by the curse. Yes, the fact that he was able to retain self-awareness is miraculous enough, let alone determine that Dain wasn’t someone to act in a hostile way with. But even under this miraculous event, Halfdan’s self-awareness could be considered... something akin to primal while being affected by his memories of Dain, his last orders to protect all people of Khaenri’ah and whatever feelings and memories evoked that bouquet of Inteyvats to him. In his final moments, when it’s safe to assume that his material body passed away after acting as a human shield to that device the Abyss Order used, we see Halfdan’s soul. Untarnished, with his memories untouched. A crystal clear reflection of what he would’ve been like weren’t for the fact that he was cursed 500 years ago. In death there seems to be awakening from the curse's effects, therefore it's safe to assume that one's soul remains intact without any need of external sources. Furthermore:

What the curse seems to wear down isn’t the soul, but one’s mind. Awareness, memories, intelligence... all of these have to do with people’s minds as opposed to their soul. Now, to move onto the next premise:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is an “it” that Dain mentions here that seems to have a role in the reason why he’d retained self-awareness and was able to remain conscious for these whole 500 years, but said “it” doesn’t stop the curse entirely. Perhaps what it does at most is stall the curse so that Dain remains conscious, or there is some sort of a life thread that seeks to keep his self-awareness intact while he still feels the curse’s effects on him. As to what this “it” is —and this will lead to my next point that was the primary topic of last night’s idea—, I think it could be Irminsul itself.
It’s no surprise that Dain holds a vast knowledge that we see mostly reflected on objective truths about the multiple characters we’ve been introduced to, most likely to be applied to other fields of knowledge that can be even abstract like the Heavenly Principles or to the divine itself while not being one himself, knowledge that hardly anyone is privy of.

Now, I’d like to address your attention for a moment to the means of earning knowledge. As the trailer goes, we’re informed that the Akasha, the means through which people have access to knowledge, is a legacy of the former Dendro Archon whose consciousness was directly connected to Irminsul. This implies that even gods, regardless of their divine nature, don’t have all the knowledge at their disposal without resorting to special means. Said special means seem to be as of now directly related to Irminsul which holds the knowledge of the whole world.
We’ve seen instances in which Ley Lines can reproduce events that happened in the past, be it what happened in Tsurumi Islands, in Imperatrix Umbrosa II or a much recent event: Hidden Strife. However, there seems to be a limit to how much you can take from the Ley Lines as well as from the Akasha with what little we know so far and the existence of this Divine Knowledge Capsule.
So going back to Dain and his connection to Irminsul, there are two aspects of this sacred tree that we know that are: healing properties (the Domain gates of revival for one are extensions of Irminsul) and unlimited knowledge. Knowledge-wise, it would make sense for Dain to have a special connection to it. The former Dendro Archon’s connection to it seemed to be a “one in a lifetime thing”. As for self-awareness, this could play with Irminsul’s healing properties while not being able to remove it completely as that would antagonize a divine’s power that Irminsul might not have the power for— or, it could as well have to do with the decline Irminsul is in, also addressed in the trailer, most likely due to what’s happening in the world.
In view of this —subject to be modified in the future as we get more information on the workings of it—, I’ll establish for this blog’s portrayal that Dain’s consciousness is connected to Irminsul.

Psst. I saw the sad-song post. And hear me out; So Close by John Mclaughlin. It's from Disney's Enchanted, and it used to be one of my crying songs back when I was convinced my crush (now BF) didn't like me back. 😂 The tone of the song is sad but the lyrics are back and forth honestly. It sounds like a lot of sad longing though.
- 🏊‍♀️ Definitely not Swimmy because Swimmy doesn't cry
yes, Swimmy, definitely not you... HUM

(if this is actually not Swimmy I'm so sorry lmao)

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)
At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.
Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.
