Dancing and Fighting with Fire
(Y’all I did it! I wrote down the basics of my AU! Now time to write 10 other things before I write the story I have planned out for this)
(Sorry if there is any weird wording, I can’t think today)
World Design
-The world they live in is very weird so buckle up
-There are multiple towns and they have different ways of life and don’t have a lot of contact with each other because they are extremely far apart
-It takes at least three weeks to get from one to the other and that’s if you are lucky enough to not run into a lot of them
-The land in between the towns are dense forests with unpredictable weather, going in there alone would be suicide
-The City where SBI lives are ‘ranked’ like circles, in the center is when the richest people and government workers live, it is very nice and the people there are privileged
-Then there is the second layer which has mostly houses and merchants, when you get farther away from the center you will see the quality of living start to decrease
-The third circle is where more of the working/blue collar people live, having to travel closer to the center for work
-The fourth circle is the poorest, the slums, here and at the edge of the third circle are have more thieves and looting is more common
-The farther you go into the fourth circle the more of a chance you have to get attacked by monsters
-SBI lives along the edge of the third circle
-Tubbo lives closer to the front of the third circle, close to the second circle
-The center circle has complete control of dimension travel, trying to build your own portal is a highly punishable offense
- This is also why potions are very hard to come by and very expensive, it’s a rich man's game
-It’s a medieval, fantasy type setting, they have trains that can be used for transportation and the richer people have access to things like phones but even they aren’t that advanced
-There is a path to the mines in the second circle, even though the front is guarded there are so many ways to sneak in
-Dragons exist, mainly because I want them too, there is no real reasoning, I just want them there
Characters
Techno: Ex-child soldier, regularly attends duels for money (16)
-Was in training from ages 3- 12, while he wasn’t physically fighting people at that age he was learning the movements, how to properly assess situations, how to use his flexibly to his advantage and how to use weapons
-Can think on the fly and has very fast reflexes
- Definitely has anxiety and nightmares, the nightmares have lessen now
-He doesn’t remember his parents or his life before, just remembers being ripped away, from someone
- Tried to runaway from the ‘army’ three times, on the fourth he succeeded
-Cares very deeply about about Phil, Wilbur, and Tommy, he would do anything for them
- Him and Phil met first, in an alley, Techno chasing off some thieves, Phil helped Techno with his wounds and getting him to let his guard down, and Techno helped Phil learn how to defend himself
- They met Wilbur later on and then stayed together, with Phil’s job, Techno’s duel money, and the money Wilbur got from playing music they were able to afford a little hole in the wall place to live
-Then they found the damn gremlin
- Techno and Phil were out when they found a shifty little shit that tired to pickpocket them
-He actually did
-They chased him and made him return their stuff
-Once he confessed that he ran away from an orphanage they got attached, Techno felt for Tommy because they both ditched out from places were they weren’t safe and Phil just found another bastard brother to take care of
- Techno is SUPER flexible, the lad can bend his body in crazy ways, it makes Phil and Wilbur slightly uncomfortable but also interests them
-Tommy thinks it’s the coolest thing he’s ever seen and demands to know how Techno does it
-So Techno basically teaches Tommy gymnastics and a little bit of parkour from time to time
-Tommy’s not very good at it but he doesn’t let that stop him
-Techno shows him self defense things only, he refuses to teach him how to attack people at such a young age, horrible memories
-Wilbur has shown Techno the basics of playing the guitar and even though Tech’s not that interested he still tries to remember and practice it
- The duels he attends are basically wrestling matches but illegal and sometimes done with swords
-They happen once a week so that how Techno gets his main source of money
Tommy: Street kid that somehow wormed his way into everyone’s hearts (He like 10 or something)
-Very loud and extroverted, likes to climb on shit and constantly falls out of trees
-Looks up to his older brothers a lot, he thinks they are so cool, (Even though he won’t admit it)
-Is the only one still in school
-Learns acrobatics and self defense things from Techno
- Like to be around Wilbur, especially when he is singing or writing songs
-Sometimes he’ll try to sing along with him
- He doesn’t always sound the best but it makes Wilbur laugh
-His best friend is Tubbo, he met him at school and his family has a small farm and raises livestock
-He spends a lot of time goofing around with Tubbo or ‘helping him’ with his chores
-He is insecure and wants to help his family more but doesn’t know how because they won’t let him dropout of school and don’t like it when he steals things
-He still does it, sparingly, mainly when he can tell they need help when Phil’s hospital job still pays him too little, when Wilbur doesn’t get enough money for his music or from playing on the side of the road or when Techno slips up in a duel
Phil: Trained Doctor and very tired, he is the main and most constant breadwinner of the family. (Age 24)
-Has been through medical school and had training even before that
-He has known Techno the longest and helped him with panic attacks and anxiety issues since the beginning
-Met Wilbur when coming home from work and heard Wilbur playing on the side of the street for music
-He wanted to tip Wilbur but didn’t have any money on him to do so, but said he would try to give him a little bit the next him he had the chance
-He kept coming back to hear his music, even bringing Techno a few times, they bonded and eventually figured out his they pooled the money they earned they could find an actual place to stay, not the lean- to that Techno had built in an alley to protect them from the weather
-Phil loves nature and wishes he could see more of it
-His favorite animals are birds, he likes to be in high places to feel the wind around him so he will go up onto the roof of their shitty apartment complex to relax in his free time
-Phil is very protective of his family and has taught all of them basic medical facts so they won’t bleed out immediately
-The hospital where he works is underpaid and unstaffed but he still makes money and he is helping people
Wilbur: Musician that tries his best (Age 17)
-Wilbur doesn’t know what happened to his parents, he just woke up one day and they were gone
-He still has his dad’s old guitar
-He dropped out of school because he couldn’t pay for it
-Sings on the side of the road in richer areas of town for more money
-He still does random odd jobs to help out
-He came from another county, jumped on the back of wagon and just went along with it
-He realized this was a mistake when it took 3 weeks of almost nonstop riding to get to the next town and he had to hide from the people he hitched a ride from
-He was able to afford a cheap hotel room for awhile but once he met Phil and Techno they stayed together
-It was just them for sometime then Phil and Techno came back with the Gremlin
-Wilbur and Tommy didn’t really get along at first but now they are very close
-Tommy tries to help him write songs, it’s always an interesting experience when he does
-Has sold his songs to others for a singular price, he knew it was a bad deal but they needed money
-Being in some of the richer areas means he’s closer to factories and more pollution, as a result of this he has a gross cough that just follows him through life
Side characters
Tubbo: Goes to the same school as Tommy
-He likes to collect things!
-He is very interested in bees even though he hasn’t seen them in real life, just pictures
- Him and Tommy will just wander the streets, they also help each other out with homework
Skeppy: Thief and a trader
Techno rescued him once while he was in a pinch and now bullies him for supplies when he needs them
Comes around to bug Techno every once and awhile but is the Family’s main supplier of tools for petty shit
Housing layout
-The boys live in a crappy apartment on the second floor, there are 5 floors in total
-There is a bathroom, two bedrooms and the kitchen and living room are just kind of squished together
-Techno and Phil share one room with Wilbur and Tommy in the other
-They have a giant padlock on the front door just incase
-The stairs are on the outside of the building, they are rusty and creak whenever you step on them
-The layout is funky but it gives you good access to the roof if you are willing to scramble up there (Phil is)

Part four: Oh girl you’re the devil
part one, part two, part three
Word count: 3372
Summary: After having died reader wakes up as a vampire, only to find out that you’re not the only one who’s struggling.
Previously: Then you realize the lack of oxygen makes you hallucinate. Matt is standing near the door shaking his head with a ‘I warned you’ look on his face. It’s true. He warned you not to hang around with vampires too much, but you just couldn’t help yourself. The room is starting to be filled with all the people you know the last one to burst through the door, before everything goes black, is Elijah. Your dead.
I have to admit I got a bit carried away with the amount I wrote. I actually didn’t write the last part at first, but a reaction from @royalisaac inspired me to write the last scene and I really hope you like it.
What they say about your life flashing before your eyes when you die is not true. The only thing you saw, as the life fled your body, were the faces of the people you loved. They hunted you right until the lack of oxygen turned your world black forever. Or should you rather say it turned your world black for what should have been forever. Because your eyes opened again and air filled your lungs, while your eyes searched the room. Distraught you’re gasping for air, your hands trying to grasp onto something. Anything at all. You’re confused and feel out of place. You died. You looked down upon your dead body as your spirit rose towards heaven. Some might say that there was no place in heaven for you. While others will believe that you are the devil. Whatever it was, that bound your spirit to your body, you came back. And at that moment, when your heart started to beat again, you weren’t sure if you should be happy to be breathing. Actually, at that moment, you weren’t sure about anything. The light hurt your eyes as they sought for anything familiar. For a moment you forgot who you are, who you have been. When blood was the only thing that ran through your veins. Now, it’s accompanied by the thirst for only one thing. Blood.
A scream that could be felt straight to the bone left your mouth. All these feelings come rushing upon you, like they are a pack of stray dogs, jumping up against you, knocking you over. Nothing you felt  in your life could compare to the pain you are feeling right now. Your body squirms on the ground while you keep on screaming, hoping that somehow it will cause for relieve. There is a very faint sound of people speaking and you can’t understand a word they are saying. Someone is holding you, your limbs hang beside your body like the life has fled out of them. Your head rolls back forcing you to look up into the face of a boy. His tears are falling down on your face making you blink instinctively. Confused you look around you. You feel like a caveman who has stepped into a world, different from yours. Do you remember when you laid in bed trying to fall asleep, only to be rudely woken by the experience of falling. That is exactly what you are feeling right now, while flashes start dancing before your eyes.
It takes you a while before you recognize the images as memories. “Kai.” Your raspy voice is only hearable for vampiric ears. “I’m here Y/N.” Kai says trying to push away the tears he had cried for you. “I’m here.” He repeats in a shushing tone.  “I died.” Saying it out loud makes it only more difficult for your caveman brain to understand it. Kai is silent. Brushing your hair, trying to figure out what he could say to comfort you. “Y/N.” Elijah kneels down beside you, looking more serious than ever. Seeing him, recognizing his face, makes you want to cry, and so you do. Kai pulls you tighter, burying your face in his shirt. “She is awoken.” Elijah says. You can hear footsteps approach and the alley door open. There is a part of your brain where the feeling of danger still lingers. Hearing the footsteps triggers something within you. Scared you push yourself away from Kai, up against the wall. Two men walk into the room giving you flashbacks from the moments before you died. “Stay away from me!” You yell in terror. Kai gets to his feet, holding his hands up to you and slowly moves toward you. “Hey, calm down.” He shushes. “Hey, hey, it’s just me.” Trembling you watch him come closer, adrenaline rushing through your body. Scared you keep an eye on the men who are still standing in the doorway, astound. Kai wraps his arms around you and you bury your face in his neck. “It’s okay. Follow me.” He gently pulls you towards another room, placing you on the bed. “Do you remember what happened?” Kai asks gently, sitting on the bed next to you. “I died.” You say, staring ahead of you like a zombie. “You remember me?” He asks carefully, not wanting to trigger another episode. You look up into his tormented face. “Kai.” You whisper. “You are Kai Parker. And you almost killed some of my friends. But I still like you.” You answer, figuring everything out by saying it out loud, wondering for a moment why you still liked him. It’s slowly starting to come back to you. “Damon.” Kai was in the prison world with your best friends Bonnie and Damon. Slowly you start to realize that one of the two men, who were standing in the doorway, was Damon. “Good.” Kai encourages you. “Do you also remember who the other guy is?” Pressing your lips you try to search through your memories. You recognized Elijah right away and thinking about Elijah leads you right back to Klaus. “Klaus.” You tell him. “Hybrid. Witch and vampire.” Vampire. It’s a word you used to describe your friends with. And now you are afraid that from now on, that term applies to you too. “Am I a vampire?” Apologetic Kai looks at you and that already tells you enough. You bury your face in your hands. “I’m sorry, Y/N. I wish I was able to turn back time.” Like you are stung by a bee you look up. “Is there a way to turn back time?” It’s a foolish thought, but you are willing to try anything to be human again. Kai shakes his head, flushing your hope. There is a knock on the door. Elijah walks in. “How is she doing?” He asks Kai. “I’m a vampire.” You tell Elijah as if he hasn’t noticed the obvious yet. Seeing him you suddenly remember him bursting through the door right before everything went black. And you wonder if it had been a hallucination or if it really was him. So you bluntly ask him. “I feel like I need to apologize for not having saved you.” Elijah says in the matter of fact way he mostly speaks. “Please don’t.” You say holding out your hand to him and he takes it. “There is nothing you could have done. And please do me a favor and don’t think about the ‘what ifs’.” Slowly you are starting to feel more like your normal, non-caveman, self. “They want to see you.” Elijah says. You nod. “Are you going to be okay?” Kai asks to be sure before he leaves. “I’m fine, it’s just, I’m having all these feelings.” You say not sure how to explain what you are experiencing. “Feelings are hard.” Kai says giving you half a smile. Damon is the first that comes through the door. He stops for a moment. Letting you adjust to his presence. “Damon.” A faint smile appears on your face and Damon sees this as a green light. He sits down beside you on the bed. He studies you, placing his hand on your cheek before he pulls you in for a tight hug. He hugs you like he never wants to let you go. “I’m still here.” You tell him, not quite convinced of that yourself. It is your body, but it doesn’t really feel like it’s yours. It’s almost as if you’re walking in someone else’s skin. “I know you never wanted to become like us, like me.” Damon says letting you go. Gently you wipe away a tear that escaped his eye. He holds onto your hand. “You don’t deserve this.” “It’s not about what I do or do not deserve, Damon. You know that. It’s about life. And that tends to be crappy altogether.” It’s true, you didn’t deserve to become like this, but you always told yourself that everything happens for a reason. And so must this, be happening for some reason you have yet to find out. “Besides, who says I’m going to be anything like you.” You give him a playful wink. Even though you don’t really feel like teasing him, you hope that by doing it, that feeling you normally always had will come back. There is a part of you that hopes that you are going to feel the same as you did before, but deep down you know that it’s not going to happen.  You are now doomed to roam forever between the dead and the living, not feeling completely at home with either one of them. You try to shake that awful thought off of you and tell yourself that you’ve always seen Damon as your home. Your friends are your home. No matter if they are dead or alive or even witches for that matter. They are family. Don’t they always say home is where the heart is? “I’m going to teach you.” Damon tells you determined. “I’m going to teach you how to feed and not kill anyone. I don’t ever want you to have to live with that, okay?” A bit overwhelmed you nod. Feeding. That is something you hadn’t thought about at all. And now that he mentioned it you can feel an uneasy feeling, tingling in your stomach. “She’ll need to know how to compel first.” At first you don’t recognize the voice. It’s Klaus. Casually he strolls in, probably a cue for Damon to leave, since he immediately leaves the room. “How are you feeling, love?” Klaus stays at the other side of the room, keeping his distance between the two of you. “I’m not sure yet.” You answer by truth. Everything feels different. Strange. “I feel different.” Klaus looks you over not giving away his feelings. He doesn’t seem as emotional as the other guys have been. Doesn’t he care as much? Were you mistaken in him? “I can teach you how to compel people.” He just says. “I could compel you.” He then says after a long silence. “Don’t you dare Klaus!” You yell at him. “I could make you forget that you are a vampire.” He walks towards you. “You won’t even know you are feeding. It will feel like you are living a perfectly normal life.” Almost tripping over your own feet you back away from Klaus. “I don’t want to life a dream. All I want is reality, how shitty as that may be.” You never thought you’d actually say you wanted reality over a dream. “I know you don’t want to be a vampire, so why would you not just give in and let me compel you?” Klaus says still moving toward you. Finally you are starting to understand where he is coming from. “You feel guilty.” You realize out loud. “Because you were the one that lead us to the witch that stabbed us in the back. You think it’s your fault that I am a vampire now.” Seeing the way Klaus looks at you, you know you’re right. “Well, you know what? You are not the one that’s get to bare all that guilt, buddy. This ain’t your fault and I’m not going to let you bare guilt over it.” “Those are my feelings.” Klaus roars, finally showing his true feelings. “I watched how you got beaten up, how you suffocated. I saw your face turn purple and there was nothing I could do to save you.” His face turns red as he yells at you. “I practically handed you to them. I killed you.” “Maya gave me the chance to leave, and I didn’t.” You reply calmly. “That was stupid!” He screams, making you jump back. “You should have left!” “And leave you?” You ask disbelieving. “If you really think that I would ever leave you to die, you don’t know me Klaus.” “If you left, at least you would have been alive.” He screams back smashing a lamp to the ground. “Oh, would I have been?” You yell mocking. “You don’t know what would’ve happened if I did and there is no way I can go on living my life without you guys in it! Screw, you, Klaus! Not everything is about your guilt! You don’t get to feel guilty over something I, Yeah I, chose!” There is an anger bursting inside you that you don’t recognize as your own. At least not to this extend. Vampire’s emotions are heightened, and it’s the first time you got to experience it yourself, instead of hearing about it second hand. “I promised to myself, I’d never let anyone harm you.” He now says, his voice raw from the screaming.  “And I failed.” “You didn’t.” You tell him, hugging him tightly. He’s hurt, but he’s not the only one. “Your goodness is killing me.” He releases you and puts a string of hair behind your ear. “Come.” You take his hand and pull him out of the bedroom into the room which you guess is the living room. Seeing you, Kai immediately hurries over to you. “Are you okay?” He asks worried, focusing all his attention on you. You give him a comforting smile. “I’m fine.” Each time you say it, your statement seems to be getting closer to the truth. “What happened after I was, uh, after I..” “Elijah killed the witch and the other men. Klaus and I got rid of their bodies for now, but we still have to bury them.” Damon explains. Even though you still feel like you’re having an out of body experience, you know that there still is a mission to be completed. “I have to get back.” Elijah gives you a hug and it’s awfully comforting hugging someone who is like a big brother to you. It feels safe. Like home.
“You two should get rid of the bodies.” Kai tells Damon and Klaus after Elijah left. There is a dark look hanging over Klaus’s face and you’re not sure if it are the shadows cast by the candle light or if it’s is state of mind. “I’m not going to leave her behind.” Klaus growls. "Oh, don't be so dramatic!" Damon cries. "It's not like you're going to leave her alone to die!"  "I want to be there to protect her!" Klaus shouts back. "Like that worked so well the first time!" Damon scoffs. Making Klaus even more hot headed than he already was.  "I couldn't do anything!” Klaus exclaims mad. “Why didn't you do anything to save her, little superhero?" You knew that there still was a certain amount of guilt lingering in Klaus, but something prohibits you from interfering.   "I wasn't the one who got her killed!" Damon growls through gritted teeth, his widened eyes filled with emotion. He blamed Klaus for what happened to you and at this moment it had turned him completely mad. Klaus loses his temper and grabs Damon by his throat. Malicious he looks at the man hanging in his hand before he throws him through the room. Damon lands on a chair, breaking it. For a second you are worried there, but Damon doesn't seem to be hurt in the slightest. "So, dramatic!" Kai says delighted, smiling amused. If there is something he loves, it is a good fight.  "And you!" Damon focusses his anger towards Kai. "The almighty powerful witch." He says disdainfully while pointing his finger at Kai. "You have been a pain in the ass since I've met you and I just can't get rid of you and you're telling me that you couldn't fight the vervain?" Overwhelmed you are watching the argument. Still feeling not in your element you don't know what to say or to do to break the fight up and you don't really know if it would be healthy to stop them now. Everyone needs to blow off a little steam every once in a while.  "Are you really blaming me right now?" Kai asks disbelieving, but not losing his grin. "You're a joke." Damon tells Kai.  "No, you are grumpy ass vampire. Blaming everyone else while you are the one to blame." Kai bites back. You are beginning to get the feeling that Kai is starting to lose his calm. Damon growls. "I'm not the one who killed her. Neither am I the one who couldn't save her with his witchy powers he always brags about. Her blood is on your hands." Kai lets out a scream of anger. "What power do you mean?" Kai asks, having switched to his psycho mode. "This one?" His hands reaches for Damon, making him grunt and grab his head in utter pain. "Kai stop." You say, realizing that this has gone too far. Instead of releasing his invisible grip he tightens it and Damon sinks to his knees. "Let's see what more I can do." Kai says, with an evil smirk on his face that scares you. Given the fact that Kai mostly looks like a kid running around in Disneyland, you can forget how dangerous he actually is. "Kai stop this!" You yell exasperated. "He can't hear you, love." Klaus tells you. kai makes a fist of his hands and Damon releases a scream that sends shivers down your spine. Blood starts running out of his nose. There is a sudden flare of anger lit inside of you. This needs to stop before you find out if Kai can kill Damon with only his magic. With all the strength you can bring up you plant your fist on Kai's cheek. He loosens his magical grip on Damon and you punch him again, this time knocking his head back. That’s when you realize you have inhuman strength. You are a vampire, but you keep forgetting it. Probably because there are some things that will never change. Like the fact that when the boys start fighting they are not likely to stop by your hand. "Stop it!" You scream feeling like you’re being ignored. Out of a reflect Kai's hand shoots in your direction. With a speed you don't recognize as your own you move aside. Only to realize it was Klaus who pushed you aside and received the blow meant for you. "You've gone too far." Klaus growls grabbing Kai by his throat and lifting him into the air. Bungling in the air Kai looks down at Klaus. He’s starting to suffocate and it’s almost like you can feel his pain. His lungs burning with the desire for one more gasp of air. The pain in your throat from the squeezing. It’s almost like you are suffocating, again. This has gone out of hand faster than you realized. With his mind Kai throws Klaus against the wall on the other side of the room. "Stop it! All of you!" You scream with all your might. The room falls silent. You crawl toward Damon, who is still on his knees. "Are you okay?" You ask concerned. He doesn't say anything so you pull him against your chest. Caring you stroke his hair, holding him in your arms like he is a little kid that needs to be comforted. "You know what will happen this time around?" You ask Kai and Klaus furiously. "This time I am going to call the shots and I'll run a fucking stake through your stomachs if you don't fucking listen to me! Okay?" Like you’re a mother who just told her children the new house rules you look at them for their confirmation. "I'm not going to let you kill each other. Over my dead body." Everyone stays silent. It takes a while for you to realize what came out of your mouth. Maybe a part of the devil did travel back with you when your spirit bound itself to your body again. Hell hat no fury like a woman scorned. "Damon?" Your voice is back to its kindhearted self. He looks up into your face. Gently you wipe away the blood from his face. "You and Klaus will get rid of the bodies, while Kai makes me a daylight ring." He nods. "It's the first step." You sigh, more to yourself than anyone else in the room.
For part 5 I asked who you want reader to end up with and I mostly got the idea that not many people want it to be Kai, so I’ll respect that, but now the choice will have to be between Damon and Klaus, so may the best man win. (Ps I really aprreciate my readers to accompany me on this journey!)

Growing......vines? || Harleen
What: Harley and Eveleen running into one another for the first time in years. One was in love and ran avoiding; and the other has no clue and feels betrayed. What could go wrong? Or maybe right? Where: Botanical Gardens When: August 2, 2020 @icarialex
Riding her skateboard through the botanical gardens had been Harley’s favorite pastime since she moved to the isle. No matter how many times she rode through, she still found something new to admire. It helped too that she used her ability to manipulate the earth to make sure the paths stayed smooth and well kept. It would be a shame for all of the work Persephone put into the sanctuary to be dimmed by crappy groundwork. That day she figured would be no different, but she nearly fell off her skateboard due to the sight of someone she didn’t expect to run into. It was dumb to not think that Eve wouldn’t eventually make her way to an island made just for demigods, but Harley liked to dream apparently. Even though it was bound to be uncomfortable, the idea of trying to run away without being caught didn’t even cross her mind. They had been best friends once after all, and the writer definitely deserved more than that. So, with a deep breath, she slowly skated towards where the woman was and stopped a few feet away. “Hey, Eevee,” she said awkwardly as she kicked up her board. Holding it would at least give her something to do with her hands.(edited)
...
It was weird being on the island; she had gone from living in a bustling city to moving to an island that was just a bit smaller than the city she had lived in -- but carried the population of the city block she had lived on. It was so quiet, so peaceful.... and so weird. She was used to parties till the sun came up, noise everywhere and people. Here while everyone was so different they all had one thing in common. They weren't human and that was probably the weirdest part of it all; the fact that they would all be here... together. It was ripe for story ideas. Eveleen had made a habit of going to one of the many parks or gardens whenever she needed to do some writing, and well, Icaria would be no different. So she made her way to the botanical gardens and found a bench near the middle, surrounded by trees and flowers, buzzing bees and butterflies all around and wrote. She was curled up a notebook in hand when she heard that familiar voice. Her whole body, including her breathing, froze. She swallowed hard as anger, confusion, hurt and longing slammed through her body. After what felt like an eternity but was really just a moment, she looked up and had a smile on her face. "Hey Harles--Harley" she said quickly correcting herself. Harley probably didn't want that level of a friendliness not after ghosting on her.
...
The change from the nickname to her name showed Eve’s displeasure, and it made Harley internally wince. She shouldn’t have expected any different though. It wasn’t like they’d left things on the best of terms. Harley wished more than anything that she could have stopped herself from catching feelings for her best friend. It was such a lesbian cliche. ”You look amazing,” she said easily. It helped to fill in the conversation, but it helped that it was such an easy thing to point out. Eve always looked so put together. ”How long do I have before you let me have it,” she asked in a shy voice. A fight was bound to happen, and what was worse was that none of the answers she was willing to give the woman would be enough. ”I have my will intact. Also, who in all the Gods told you to come to this isle now?” With demigods being kidnapped left and right from Icaria, she didn’t get people flocking to the area. They probably had more luck staying as spread out as possible.
...
Eveleen ran a hand through her hair as she closed her notebook and looked up to her old friend. Ex-friend? She wasn't sure what they were anymore. "Ah -- Thank you." she said her cheeks warming at the compliment. "You don't look so bad yourself." she added a second later. She glanced down to the grass and let her hand brush over its surface causing a small grape tree to form, already producing grapes. She plucked one off and then offered some others to Harley. "Diyonisus of course, told me to come here last year -- decided I didn't particularly want to for a while, then some demi was kidnapped where I lived and I figured I might as well. Though, I hear its actually worse here so thats.... fun." she mused avoiding the topic of letting Harley have it. She was having such a nice day and sure, she was mad and she wanted answers she wasn't about ready to just let Harley off the hook that easy.
...
”Blushing, huh” she teased lightly. That wasn’t something she’d ever been able to resist doing. Seeing a woman who could get so many panties to drop blush was just so satisfying. “Well, you know. I just age like fine wine. You’re a pro with the beverage, so it only makes sense you’d recognize.” Harley flexed a tiny bit and posed playfully just to further emphasize her point. ”It is worse now here,” she agreed. Having Eve on the isle would give her another person to keep an eye on and worry about. ”I came here about a year ago. Poseidon rarely pops in, but he pretty much ordered me to move here. It was really annoying,” she said with a roll of her eyes. The guy seriously liked to pick and choose when he wanted to parent. ”But as long as I can surf, board, and work with children I’m happy. Have you kept up with your surfing? I totally have a board that will fit you well.” If the fashion designer was okay avoiding the complications of their past, then Harley wasn’t going to argue. She didn’t like to go against the current anyway. There was no point in trying to push things that weren’t ready to come out yet.
...
She narrowed her eyes at the blonde and let out a huff. It was hard to get her to blush most of the time; she only really seemed to do such a thing when she actually liked the person she was talking to. Eve didn't want to like Harley right now, she wanted to be mad at her, to hate her; to not want to spend time with Harley. Harley had pushed her to the side and avoided talking to her for most of a year. She should be able to do the same. Should be able to not care but --- she couldn't. She couldn't stop caring about the blonde and it infuriated her. "How many people have gone missing in the past couple of months?" she asked as she popped another grape in her mouth. She needed to keep her hands busy. "I haven't really... Living in NYC made that a bit hard. I did little things here and there when I could but...." she let her voice trail off, the unspoken thoughts begging to slip out but it reminded me of you. "You have a board you're be willing to let me borrow?" she asked eyebrows shooting upwards.
...
The blushing has now been upstaged by adorable huffing ladies and gentlemen. “And the crowd roars,” Harley says playfully before making the sound of a crowd cheering lightly for extra effect. She sometimes wondered how she got away with acting such a way in public, but she figured the people that stuck around thought it was part of her charm. Keeping track of the people that had gone missing was quite the task since it seemed like someone was vanishing every week. After doing a quick count in her head, she replied, ”nine in the last month and half or so. If someone went missing where you were though, I’m glad you’re here. At least we are potentially more useful to keeping you safe than humans.” Not much given their latest track record, but the odds still had to be tipped in their favor. Not being able to resist Eve’s grapes for long, Harley finally took a few. She tossed one in the air, and then promptly caught it in her mouth with a smile. ”New York City, huh? I’ve always wanted to visit, but you know the sea keeps me away.” Which was the truth. While things had been awkward between them, she’d never avoid a city to not see Eve. ”Mhm! I actually added it to my collection because I thought it would be perfect for you,” she elaborated. Harley then pulled out her phone and scrolled through a few pictures before stopping at the one she wanted. ”Here, see? Tell me that isn’t your board.”
...
She plucked the whole bundle of grapes off the tree"I'm going to kick your ass" she muttered her hand tapping the small grape tree she had made and it instantly disappeared, a little bit of her anger showing through in doing so. she sucked in a long breath as Harley told her the number and she shook her head, brow furrowed. "Nine on an island of less than 300? I was living in New York City!" she explained, "18 million people, probably more demigods living within the city than here and as far as I knew only one had vanished, my odds were better there than here." she said with a shake of her head, math wasn't her strong suit but even she knew those odds. It was ridiculous to think they were safer here. But yet all their parents still insisted. "You could have visited for a day or so." she muttered bitterness lacing her words. She knew that she had told Harley multiple times over the past year and a half she had been living in NYC.  Harley acting like she didn't remember, or maybe really had forgotten, just reminded her of how far they had drifted from being friends. "Why would you hold onto a board not knowing when or if you'd ever see me again?" she asked but then looked to the phone and at the photo of the board. It really was a board made just for her. A pastel-y pink with a seafoam blue  center very much just screamed Eveleen.
...
The blonde arched her eyebrow at the woman and playfully jumped slightly up and down from side to side like boxers did to warm up. ”You wouldn’t, but I’ll play fight you anytime,” she answered instantly. Although, getting into a playful wrestling scenario with the woman probably wouldn’t be the greatest decision. ”You might have been safer there, but you’ll love it here eventually. The people are great, and you honestly can’t beat the waves.” Since Harley and other demigods could use their powers without fear, it allowed her and others to manipulate the water as they wanted. That pretty much guaranteed amazing surf conditions. ”I never doubted that I would see you again, Eevee,” Harley answered honestly. While she’d been vague and somewhat absent for some time, the blonde never intended for them their friendship to end. ”So yeah, I held onto the board. The real question is, are you just going to make passive aggressive remarks or actually get things off your chest? I mean, we’re in a botanical paradise. You couldn’t ask for a better backdrop.”
...
Eve narrowed her eyes at Harley and shook her head, "You don't know that, I might." she said and without a second thought created a vine behind the woman that acted on her whims, and smacked Harley's ass. It disappeared as fast as it appeared and Eve just smirked. "You'll lose" she said with a shrug, maybe it was a challenge, maybe it wasn't, it'd be up to Harley to figure that out. "It's so quiet here." she said simply, she was always itching for energy to be around those who tossed out more and more; Harley was the closest she had ever come to not needing to go to parties to fill fulfilled in her chaotic energetic party ways. She chewed over the idea of starting to surf again, it'd be nice to get out on the waves, to spend time in the ocean, to maybe -- No she couldn't let herself think of hanging with Harley until she got answers. Eve just gave Harley a look, narrowed eyes and a doubtful frown. "It's been years Harley." she said, "Do you really want me to get things off my chest? Because it may just be a lot of me yelling." she muttered, "Wouldn't you rather just avoid your problems?"  Oh the sarcasm and venom it almost felt real.
...
A small shriek left Harley at the smack against her ass. The blonde arched an eyebrow at her counterpart because she honestly couldn’t believe she’d done that. ”Use your hands,” she challenged back. While Harley could use her powers too, the Earth could be a little too harsh. Last thing she wanted to do was hurt Eve. ”There is no way I’m bending rocks against you. I mean, I could use them to cuff you down, if you insist.” There was something so different about them in that moment. The tension that was bubbling between them made for an interesting dynamic. It was like they were subtly trying to see who would dominate which the blonde didn’t want to think too much about. ”It is, but there are spots to have fun too. Plus, you’ll make friends in no time. Who can say no to you?” Seriously, it was impossible. Eve was one of LA’s biggest panty droppers back in the day, and Harley doubted that had changed. ”See, that right there I don’t deal with. Yell, curse, I don’t care, but be direct with your insults. Don’t skirt around things because it literally solves nothing. So let’s go,” she said confidently.
...
It was hard not to smirk at the shriek and the comment, there were these small glimpses into their past, into the ways they used to be and it both infuriated her and made her smile. She wanted that back, she wanted Harley and her back to normal but -- she just lifted her shoulders in a nonchalant shrug a small smirk tugging at her lips as they spoke of cuffs and using their hands. "Make me" she retorted not backing down from Harley's stare. "Lots of people" she shrugged, she had never been able to get Harley despite trying over the years, that always seemed to be her luck too; girls she actually wanted didn't always fall into her wiles, but she didn't need to delve into that right then. "You left me." she said simply. "And I support you chasing your dreams and doing your thing but you abandoned me You claimed we were gonna be best friends forever, but I can count on one hand the number of times we've talked in the past year. Four. Four times Harely. Each were only a few texts back and forth before you just stopped replying." she squeezed her notebook tight between her hands causing her knuckles to go white. "So sure, sit here spout your bullshit about how you never doubted we'd see each other again. You stopped making an effort."
...
There was one person who could get under her skin in a second without even really trying, and she just so happened to be right in front of Harley. ”You don’t want to go there, Eevee,” she warned carefully. The memory of Eve kissing her when she was drunk instantly flashed behind her eyes along with how surprisingly dominant the woman had been in the exchange. That particular memory was not one she needed to have in that moment though, so she shoved it back down into the Pandora’s box it belonged in. ”I’ve rarely seen anyone be able to turn you down.” Throughout their whole friendship the woman had been able to get Harley to do anything she wanted. The word no had never been in the woman’s vocabulary when she had those deep brown eyes looking at her. ”I left,” she agreed. ”I never intended to leave you though. As for the past year, I have a reason, but it’s not one that I’m ready to share yet. Can you trust me enough to believe me when I say it’s a valid one?” There was no way Harley was ready to tell Eve that she’d left because she had been hopelessly in love with her, and the kiss they had shared that the woman didn’t even remember broke the last bit of her that had been able to remain untouched by the onslaught. That was just too much. ”My work got crazy because I decided to become a registered nurse anesthetist in pediatrics, and my mom was on a new kick of trying to mend our relationship. Still, those aren’t the real reasons just contributing factors.” Eve was angry which made sense since she’d always been too dense to realize the signs. She never noticed the little things Harley did to show she loved her, and therefore, had no idea just how much pain the blonde had put herself through.(edited)
...
The use of her nickname was the only thing that stopped her from snapping back, which stopped her from using her vines to poke at Harley a bit more. No one called her Eevee. Evie. Eve, Eveleen. Lee, Ev. Sure. But eevee the pokemon? That was only Harley. And hearing it after so long felt like a punch. So, she narrowed her eyes at Harley "Try me" she said. "You don't know where I want to go." Eve pressed, she was angry and wanted answers but also curious as to why Harley was acting as she was. "Rarely, but it still happens. I know how to get what I want, but there are people even I couldn't get to give me a kiss or crawl into bed with me." she mused with the quickest glance to Harley's eyes then lips before she looked back down at the grapes she had in her lap.  She snorted and tossed a grape into the bush. there had been nothing wrong with it, but she was still angry. "Not ready to share why you abandoned your so-called-best friend?" she muttered just above a whisper as she shook her head. "Honestly? No, not really." she said as she pushed herself up from her seated position. "But that's fine. You've got yourself a life here, someone you do tell everything too, I'm sure, hell maybe even a girlfriend. Go vent to them after this about how much I've changed and how much of a bitch I am. It's fine. We'll just be cordial, and when you're ready to stop keeping secrets from me, you can tell me why you couldn't find five minutes once in a while to text me." she said slowly soothing her own anger from venom to a sad cool stream "I'm glad you're doing something you love and you're fixing things with your mom though.”
...
The two of them never fought when they were friends, so this was completely new territory. Both of them were challenging each other which was dangerous due to their stubborn nature. ”Why don’t you enlighten me then,” she asked back just as tensely. ”Where do you want this to go?” That was much easier than telling her she was getting oddly turned on by seeing the woman so angry and spunky. It was such an unusual version of Eve, and it wasn’t horrible even though she wasn’t a fan of being on the receiving end of it all. ”Name one,” she said in response to not being able to get someone to look at her or kiss her. Harley wanted to know just so she could find them and kick their ass for squandering that away. Although, perhaps they were like her and knew that all they could get from the woman was an amazing night, and that just wouldn’t be enough. ”Not ready to share with anyone,” she replied back quickly. Eve wasn’t a topic she touched with people. It was too painful to. ”If you’re thinking someone has replaced you here, you’re wrong. No one can even hold a candle to you in my life, so get off it. No girlfriend either. Also, when have I ever been able to call you a bitch? You’re the one ready to hurl insults and toss jabs here. I just told you to come out with it all in one go instead of every other sentence.” The venom she felt radiating off of the woman before her was painful, but she kept a brave face. Harley understood where it was coming from, but she also knew she wouldn’t be able to take it for too long. Either they found a way to table it until she was ready to talk, or the blonde would be doing a lot of avoiding. ”My mom is still batshit crazy, Eevee, that won’t change. She’s still with Jay though, and he’s kept her on her meds better than I ever could, so it’s better.”
...
She let out a little breath and shook her head, “Depends, where were you thinking it was going to go?” she asked letting another vine come up and smack Harley’s ass once more before turning into a pile of grapes on the floor. She hoped that her vine was enough of an answer to the question without her having to actually say anything. She snorted a laugh at the request to name one,”Oh I don’t know.. Let’s see, she’s blonde, spunky, really loves the ocean, was my roommate for years and who I flirted with non-stop and yet… I could never get anything from it.” she said crossing her arms over her chest. Eve pursed her lips biting the corner of it slightly as Harley spoke on her not being replaced. She found that so hard to believe, that no one had caught her eye either as a girlfriend, or that Harley hadn’t collected another best friend. She was friendly enough to. “No one can hold a candle but you can’t send me more than a couple texts a year. I pity to think of how you treat your other friends if I’m your best one. And I worry for any girlfriend you get, but then again, maybe you’d spend all your time doting on her it wouldn’t matter and we wouldn’t even know.” she grumbled, she knew Harley was a sweetheart, she knew the girl loved her friends, but she couldn’t let this go and she couldn’t get past the pit in her stomach. But there it was, that infernal nickname, the one that would always catch her off guard and make her pay attention. “Still with Jay, damn, that’s good. I’m glad he’s keeping her a bit more stable. She deserves that in life.”
...
Another shriek as a fine connected with her ass which led to her glaring at the woman ahead of her. Blue eyes closed as Harley tried to count to ten. She’d been on the receiving end of Eve’s flirtations before, but never had they held the anger behind them as well. ”I asked you first, and use your words. They communicate better than your vines.” Spanking was something the blonde would be fine with, but not from plants. That was just rude and really freaking painful. The description Eve provided of the girl she could never get made the nurse’s heart momentarily stop. Fate was honestly so cruel. Years later, and then she got the writer to admit something. ”That blonde didn’t want just one night,” she answered back but not quite as confidently. That all still hurt her to talk about which was why Eveleen was a rather taboo topic in her life. ”You’re such a pain in the ass. I’m saying that no one will ever be you. And drop the girlfriend lines. You’re just working yourself up more, and you’re pissed off enough as it is. Plus, it seems I have a knack for growing feelings for women with commitment issues anyway.” Honestly, it was probably something she should work on. That attraction obviously didn’t mesh well with her. Although, she’s gaining more traction with Aida than she had with Eve considering the woman didn’t even notice Harley’s advances in California. ”He’s thinking of proposing, so I may have a wedding to attend sooner rather than later.”
...
Eve couldn’t help but smirk, “Ah but my vines can spell things too” she said letting one crawl up her arm and it spelt out the word flirting before seemingly dissolving into her skin. She sucked in a long breath and frowned, her brow furrowing as she did so. The idea that Harley had wanted more than just one night hadn’t been something that had really crossed her mind -- because Harley had never really shown much interest in the first place. At least not -- obviously to her. “More than just that night?” she asked, cocking her head to one side, she sucked in a long breath, eyes darting back and forth as she looked at the floor. “Am I?” she asked somewhat deadpan, both in answer to being a pain in the ass and working herself up. “I mean obviously there’s someone there for you to make a comment like that.”  she smiled, it was a slightly broken sad smile. She wanted her friend to be happy, but the idea of Harley dating someone else -- irked her. She bit her lip but nodded her head. “Well, that will be fun. I’m sure you’ll be adorable in a bridesmaids dress. Hopefully not a hideous one.” she paused, “Though, knowing you, you’d still make it cute.”
...
When a vine appeared yet again, Harley honestly almost flinched because she did not want to get hit again, but quickly shifted her attention to try to make out what was being spelled. When she realized what it was, an eyebrow arched before a small laugh escaped her lips. ”You’re mad at me but want to flirt with me? That sends a bit of a mixed message, don’t you think?” The mood swings could give Harley whip lash. Still, if she wasn’t careful, Harley knew it would be easy for her to fall back into old patterns. Patterns that had left her heart aching for any attention from the actress by the end. ”Mhm. Could I have responded to your flirting and taken things further one night? Yes. Did I want to sometimes? Yes, but I didn’t just want one night with you or a friends with benefit situation. That’s why nothing happened.” Apparently Eve was still clueless to her feelings which drove her slightly mad. She didn’t understand how the woman could be that oblivious. Was she just so used to women fawning over her that she thought some things were normal? If so, what a life. ”You are,” she said with a nod. ”That would be what you took from that sentence,” she said with a slight shake of her head. The compliment was unexpected, but still made Harley smile. ”That’s because I can make almost anything work, but I think pink ruffles would be my demise.”
...
Eveleen lifted one shoulder in a shrug, “Angry flirting can be fun.” she said as she popped one of the grapes she had made earlier into her mouth. She wasn’t even sure why she was doing it and hearing that the resident therapist had been taken by the minotaur? Well she guessed she wouldn’t be figuring that out any time soon. Too bad. She let out a long breath and ran a hand through her hair tossing the wavy hair all to one side. “You know you could have talked to me” she said before popping another grape into her mouth as her stomach dropped out of her at the idea that they could have had more over the years. It had never been a thought that Harley could like her as more than just friends; she had never … really had a true friend that hadn’t just been after her family’s money, or hell, her own money. “If it wasn’t something on your mind you wouldn’t have even mentioned it, means someone is lingering in that pretty blonde head of yours. Someone caught your eye.” she said, eating another grape. “I’d pay decent money to see you in a pink ruffle dress. Maybe I’ll just text your mom that it would be the best to put you in one.” she smirked, “If only just to try it on for the wedding, maybe not as her final choice. But yanno, get her to take a picture and send it to me.”
...
”I prefer teasing flirting, but that’s just me,” she said with a shrug. Although, that was dangerous to voice out loud because the woman was the biggest tease Harley had ever known. The blonde put her skateboard flat on the floor before moving to take a seat on it and shrugged her shoulders. That was easy in theory, but actually talking to Eve about it was terrifying. ”What was the point, Eevee?” She’d seen first hand how many girls the woman loved partying with and taking home. That had never been Harley’s scene. ”I made it so clear, Eevee. Didn’t you notice I didn’t treat any other person the way I did you? Do you think it’s a coincidence that I didn’t have a girlfriend even though you know I’m the type who loves commitment?” Harley didn’t understand what the point of voicing her desire was when it was obvious nothing that she did was being seriously reciprocated. Having concrete rejection instead of just reading signals wasn’t something she needed. ”Eevee, I’m single. I’ve been single for awhile. Tried dating someone once, but it didn’t last very long.” She didn’t get why the woman was so focused on it, but she’d clarify if it would make the fashion designer less cranky. She was always up for making someone happier. ”Don’t you dare,” she threatened. ”My mom loves you and probably would. Plus, you know I don’t listen to my mother. That won’t get me in the dress it would just make me have to deal with a lot of pestering from my mom.”
...
Their shift in heights and positions, the flip of who was sitting vs who was standing, paired with the nickname once more made her pause for a moment. She chewed on her bottom lip as she watched Harley. Eveleen let out a long huff and shrugged her shoulders, she didn’t quite get what Harley was getting at as she started talking. She furrowed her brow and sucked in her bottom lip as she thought about the past, about what their past was like. “I didn’t… try and pay close attention to how you treated others, beyond that you were nice and friendly to them all....” she said with a little frown “Besides, you were literally the first person I lived with outside of my parents and the first real friend I ever made. I don’t really know how friends are supposed to act if I’m being totally honest. I mean --” she let out a little sigh trailing off, that was a whole can of worms she had never spoke about to anyone. “ Finding someone you jive with, though, can take time and even if you’re a commitment type person that doesn’t mean you just stumble upon someone you actually want to date for any length of time.” she said and rubbed the back of her neck. She rolled her eyes at Harley’s comment and crossed her arms over her chest. “I guess, I just have such a hard time imaging you’ve stayed single when you’ve live on this island paradise with how gorgeous some of the girls are here.” but at the mention of Harley’s mother she laughed, “You may not listen to your mother but a bride you can’t deny the bride…. If she wanted you in a cute frilly dress you can’t lie to me and say that you wouldn’t try it on for her.”
...
”It wasn’t my intention to have feelings for you,” Harley said carefully after hearing Eve speak. ”Not because I wouldn’t want to, but I really did just plan on being your best friend. Still, even when I did want more with you, I never cared about any of the other stuff that came with you. The money, power associated with your mother, power that will soon be your own, or any of that stuff. None of that has ever mattered to me,” she explained honestly. Even though Eve never spoke about it, Harley had noticed how people clamored to her because of her mother’s status. She’d gotten a small taste of it, so she could only imagine how it had been before. ”For reference though, I have more boundaries with my friends. I don’t go out of my way to see them whenever I can, bring them coffee, take them out to dinner at fancy restaurants I could never afford without saving for weeks, or pretend to accidentally get to close to the corner of their lips when I kiss their cheeks. That was all just for you.” Explaining it all was making Harley’s stomach bottom out to her shoes, and she just wished she could have run away from it all just a little longer. She knew she’d eventually she’d have to face the music, but the blonde had hoped she’d have a little more time. At least enough for her heart to stop doing the thing where it wanted to literally beat out of her chest whenever Eve was around. ”I lived on California constantly next to the most beautiful and talented British woman for years and stayed single. That experience comes in handy.” A sigh escaped her lips at Eve’s logic, and she hated that the woman was right. It was just downright annoying. ”Eevee, don’t do that to me. It’s just mean,” she said with a pout.
...
Eve froze mid-movement at the word feelings, her eyes darting to the blonde as a vine snaked up her leg. Nervousness sparked it to life and it touching her leg -- literally grounded her. Reminded her that things were real. She sucked in a long breath as Harley spoke of literally every fear Eve had had about people liking her, about friendships she had made over the decades of her life. She had almost no real friends, no real people that didn’t want her for just her mother’s influence or sway. Hell, she could count them on one hand if she really wanted to and as of right now she knew two of them were on the isle. Her brain felt like it was short-circuiting, feelings? Friendships? not being used? It was a lot for her to take in and actually process. Her mouth opened slightly and she let out a little breath. She was unsure of what even to say to Harley at that moment. “I’m just gonna be honest here… I -- literally don’t know what to say to all that other than -- uh.. I need time to process.” she sucked in her bottom lip and forced herself to keep her feet planted instead of moving back, moving away from the idea that Harley cared for her that much. “But um” she swallowed and blinked a couple of times trying to recenter herself. “Maybe… I’ll be nice and not make your mom do that..” she glanced down at the vine wrapped around her leg and willed it away.
...
The blonde watched as the wheels started going into overdrive in the writer’s mind, and barely withheld the sigh when she knew what was coming. Although, she was surprised to notice that Eve didn’t run away from the situation all together. The fact that she hadn’t made it better than the worst case scenario she had imagined in her head whenever she thought about discussing her feelings. When Eve did finally speak, Harley managed a small smile and nodded her head. “Take all the time you need,” she answered honestly. “I’m not going anywhere, and I’m never hard to find. I can give you my address, or if you just go to the beach for long enough, I’m sure you’ll find me. Well, unless I’m working.” Her schedule changed from week to week, so she couldn’t really outline that for the woman, but she still wasn’t that hard to locate. Plus, her number hadn’t changed either. “That would be nice. If you’re nice, I’ll dress up in something ridiculous for you one day. Although, I’m sure you’ll want to redo my wardrobe first. We can talk about that later though if you want me to roll out. I don’t want to overwhelm you or anything.” While Harley was feeling slightly deflated about putting her feelings out there and getting such a grey response, she didn’t like making anyone feel uncomfortable. All she ever wanted was for the people she cared about be happy.
...
Eve nodded her head at Harley's assurance it was okay if she took some time to process. Either way she would take the time, but knowing Harley understood that she was overwhelmed by this all? It lifted a small bit of weight from her shoulders. She swallowed hard and nodded once more "I uh -- whatever you like more. If you want me to come by when I'm more -- mentally prepared for this I can just text me your address." she said and licked her lips trying to calm herself down. She needed a drink, or to get high, she wasn't sure which would be of more use right now. Maybe talking to one of her siblings would do the trick... But at the mention of dressing up for her she chuckled, she'd love to get Harley into some ridiculous clothes just for fun. "Depends on how your wardrobe looks." she shrugged, "I'd have to see your closet." she swallowed, fashion. Fashion was easy to talk about, fashion distracted her from her sweaty palms, her pounding heart and her racing mind. It calmed her breathing, kept her from hyperventilating. Was this another panic attack threatening to rear its ugly head? Maybe. Space. She needed to go. "I -- no, it's fine, stay, enjoy the park. I have to go meet up with Vera anyways." she waved her hand and a small grape vine grew from the ground, "Enjoy some grapes." she said before taking a step back, "I'll... I'll talk to you soon" Eveleen said with a smile before she strolled off -- taking deep breaths to calm the panic that was still rising in her gut.

BEE-LiEVE in LovE
a/n: happy 2k I guess............I wrote you monsters a bee movie fic
Ken was beside himself. Really, he was beside himself. He had a full cut out made in his honor, now that he didn’t have a tennis partner or a girlfriend anymore; he made do with what he had. And what he had was a standing cut out of his gorgeous face pouting while sassily holding a racket with a slight, cocked hip. “Sometimes I think about her you know?” Ken turned to his cardboard cutout with a defeated sigh. “Not like, a lot because that’s pathetic, I mean how can you leave this for an insect? I bet he doesn’t even look good in white polos like me.” He turned to the cut out of himself and nodded. “Like us, sorry.”
Ken spun the racket in his hand and served the ball across the court. He watched as the green ball whizzed to no one on the other side and bounced off the adjacent wall. “I mean bees? Really what does she even have in common with him? It’s borderline Bee-astiality .” He grunted while serving a second ball. “And stripes? Totally 2007; plus stripes make her look fat!”
Pause.
He turned back at his cutout. “That wasn’t too mean, she use to say that all the time. Her words, not mine.” Ken felt the inanimate judgmental eyes bore into his back. In a fit of frustration he tossed the racket up and over the perimeter of the tennis court. He watched as the racket spun up in the air making a perfect arch before landing smack in some poor, Hispanic lady’s garden nearby. “Yea, yea I’ll get that, I know. You want to blame gentrification on me too?”
His Gucci tennis shoes hoisted themselves up and walked out of the crudely placed, expensive tennis club in the middle of a poverty ridden strip of New York City. He walked around to the garden that belonged to some old lady that was shouting in Spanish, no doubt about the racket that was now soundly a part of her rose bush. “Si, si si” Ken held up a wad of money and chucked it at her like a bad card dealer playing 52 pickup. “I’ll be out of your hair soon, ciao~”
There was a small part of his brain that said he could afford to buy a new racket. But he had the same racket since Vanessa left him. They had matching ones to bee honest. Both engraved with his face at the bottom of the handle as a reminder of their solitary…to how awesome he was. Now she broke that crust, she broke it for someone who wasn’t even half the man he was.
Or a quarter.
Actually, he wasn’t a man at all. “GOD DAMNIT.” He slammed his foot down on a rake and launched the pole straight into his face. Betrayed not only by the woman who adored him enough to be worthy of his love and physics, Ken was blinded by rage (and pain). He rubbed his nose repeatedly, eyes snapped shut as he tried very hard not to cuss in some poor lady’s crappy garden.
“That was Italian by the way…” a small voice buzzed close to his face. Instinctively he swatted his hand in front of him and didn’t manage to hit anything. “Woah, woah I was just tellin you some very sound information here buddy.”
Ken wrinkled his nose, feeling small tickling at the very tip. When he opened, his practically went cross eyed finding a thin faced, stinger-less bee standing on his nose. “W-WhaaA”
“The thing you said to the lady is Italian. I mean, common misconception but—“ Adam waved his hand around playing off the mistake casually. “It gets to the beest of us”
Something about the yellow and black stripped 30 millimeter sized insect that sent Ken’s head into a rage. Perhaps a struck nerve, “Don’t you dare talk to me!” He swatted at the bee, his hand missing the buzzing fellow each time.
“Woah there!” Adam yelped, moving away far enough to safely adjust his glasses. “If I didn’t know any better I would say you were upset at me for some reason! Do I know you…?” He rubbed one of six limbs against his yellow, pointed chin.
“OH Like you don’t!”
“Well I don’t seem to remember….wait were you the guy that took the last honey bun from the shelf at 196th bodega?”
“STOP THE ACT!” Ken’s arms went stiff at his sides as he clenched his fists tightly. “I know all you bees are related! You all know each other so you know HIM.”
Adam pouted a bit, “Well that’s very offensive, we’re all loosely related. I mean sure we serve the same Queen who may or may not be all of our mothers making us somewhat like siblings. Halfsies at best but I only know about ten thousand of my nearest relatives give or take.” Adam smiled only to narrowly miss another hand coming his way.
All the information went over Ken’s head, he hissed as his hand missed, whipped around and hit himself soundly on the face. “THAT BEE THE ONE THAT STOLE MY WOMAN.”
“Uh…” Adam blinked a bit and shrugged. “I’m not sure who you’re referring to.”
“How many BEES steal a devilishly handsome man’s woman?”
“Oh, more than you think. We bees are unBEElieveable romantics.”
Ken deadpanned for the longest time before rolled his eyes, “well Vanessa was MY woman. Your brother or whatever he is took her from me.”
“OHOH Baressa?”
“Excuse me?”
“Baressa, its their ship name, you know the kids made it up, it went pretty viral after their wedding in Bora Bora.”
“---wedding? ---Bora bora?” Ken’s voice broke in as many places as his heart did. “I …can’t believe it.”
“Yeah, those two were a match made in heaven, I was there for it. Bee-st man.” He thumbed towards himself proudly.
His head was reeling as Adam continued to talk, Ken held up his hand weakly, shaking his head back and forth. “Please just…stop making the bee puns…” Ken choked feeling emotion bubble up inside of him. “If so much as hear a buzz I’m going to lose it!” He knelt down in melodramatic frustration. He sat there, head in his hands and knees pulled up to his chest.
“Hey, hey…I’m sorry.”
“Excuse you?”
“Vanessa…she left you for Barry and he might bee my best friend but I can’t imagine what you’re going through.”
Ken shook his head, letting it hang in shame. “She wasn’t suppose to break up with me…I-I’ve resorted to thinking there is something wrong with ME.” He placed a hand on his chest.
Adam buzzed around and landed on the top of Ken’s knee, wry that he was going to be swatted at. “Hey, there is nothing wrong with you! Take it from me, I’m a bee without a stringer, talk about having something wrong.” Adam turned and shook his stingerless-beehind at Ken. “Sure I get a couple of weird looks but I pull through, you on the other hand! You’re top notch human ideals.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t say top notch.” Ken chuckled at the sensation of his ego being stroked. “Please continue.”
“Well I couldn’t help but notice your racket, you must have quite an arm on you to have thrown that all the way over here, amirite?” Adam flew over to Ken’s arm and patted his bicep. “As I expected, extraordinarily fit for a species that’s eating themselves into oblivion.” He stroked small circles along Ken’s white polo.
Ken’s smile beeamed, it had been so long since someone other than himself and his cutout were complimented. By a bee? Yes he would admit it was strange but certainly not unwelcomed. “I can see how Vanessa may have fallen for one of you, you are quite the charmer…I suppose you can say”
“Oh?” Adam’s tiny, microscopic eyes lit up.
“…I know what all the buzzzzz is about.”
“HA, BUZZ BEE-CAUSE I’M A BEE” Adam slapped all four of his knees and doubled back in laughter, sprawling flat on his back on the top of Ken’s arm. “You know, if I were Vanessa I would have stayed with you.”
“What? No, really?”
“OF course! Between you and me, Barry might look like the whole package but he is far from  bee-ing Mr. Perfect.”
Ken held up his arm so Adam was closer to his face. “Oh do tell.”
“For one he snores…”
Man and Bee sat around and spoke for hours until the old Hispanic lady kicked them out with the threat of police. Ken walked with Adam in his hand, walking the streets of New York with a smile. “You know Bees aren’t so bad…” Ken found himself admitting after crossing the crosswalk before it was his time.
“I can see why Barry aimed outside the regular dating pool, you humans are Great!”
“Well thank you, I am superbly above most.”
“…bee-cause you’re so tall?” Adam blinked up at Ken.
“Uh… sure.” Ken looked around and paused at a local park.
“Well this is me…” Adam stood up and brushed his wings off. “It was nice getting to know you, Ken. We should do this again.”
“Tomorrow, Tennis?”
“Well I can’t really hold a racket but I’m more than willing try!” Adam started to fly away from Ken waving softly at the human man.
Ken dreamily waved back, watching the bee turn into a dot as he flew off to the nearest flower in the distance. “Beeautiful.” He blushed not mentioning the absence of a stinger to be quiet attractive since he was deathly allergic to bees.
