how do you outline your really long fics?
i will literally just listen to one song that i associate w the fic and keep repeating it until i finish the scene by scene summary. most of it is just dialogue honestly that i expand on as i write. sticky notes help too!!! usually when i brainstorm if a song doesn't pop up while i'm talking w the commissioner then i will go back and forth on the chat until i see sth that makes the story start clicking. alot of my commissions have been free range (?) like i am usually just given a theme, general storyline to expand or sometimes just characters and they tell me to run w it. when i get those type of comms i always start the drafting process with "what would be something x character would say to (client name)?" and then from that a small scene pops up that gets expanded scene by scene.
it's a random process and im vERRRRYYYY unorganized with it (i will think in shower and while i go out running errands its just efficient for me to think while im doing routine like activities), but outlining (for me) always starts with character. in commissions, client becomes yn and so the more we chit chat (or just me scrolling thru ur blog LMAO) the more the character is formed.
in personal longfic pieces outline usually starts from just rando thoughts. ie on the faded side was bc i thought of potential akaashi dialogues. it just kept growing the more i thought ab it.
