description: the times that convinced the account y/n.bronze that they were right about the captain and Lucy Bronze's relationship

y/n.bronze: Here is a thread of instances which confirm that Lucy and y/n are together in my mind - the bottom of the thread is where it gets good.
1. How Lucy looked at her during the post match interview after beating Spain??? Like, her eyes were literally heart shaped??? I want that!
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
y/n was absolutely knackered, it had been a very eventful game and while victory was in the end a 3-1 win for them, it didn't feel as if the game was easy.
The England captain was being practically held up by her midfield counterpart Keira, the woman well aware their captain would get player of the match, having scored England's first and third goal of the game.
y/n had been everywhere that game, hardly stopping and continously talking and shouting to her girls so much her voice had gone hoarse. She was sipping at her drink slowly, trying to regain some feeling in her body.
"y/n, you and Lucy are up for interviews." Sarina informed her and the captain groaned, her teammates laughing at her as Sarina shook her head playfully.
y/n forced herself away from Keira's warm hold and toward her lover who had her coat in her hands. Lucy and y/n had been dating four years, and while over the past year there had been speculation of their relationship the two had never confirmed it.
They hadn't felt as if they needed to, being happy enough and secure enough to just need themselves and their teams to know. But ever since y/n made the move to Barcelona from her childhood team of Arsenal and her best friend, the rumours had only grew.
The England team adored the two's relationship, finding the 32 year old and 27 year old truly adorable and hilarious in their relationship and had done a considerable amount to help them keep it quiet.
Lucy and y/n made their way over to the interviewer, hands brushing one another's as they smiled at the woman who handed them their microphones and began asking questions.
"No completely." y/n said in agreement to the interviewer, smiling kindly as Lucy paused, her eyes softening as she watched the love of her life discuss their team.
Lucy was looking at her as if she had just placed the stars in the sky, and the camera did nothing to hide the look of pure adoration and love the right-back was looking at her lover with.
"The English are never done, and the girls worked so well today to remind everyone of that, and prove that we have a lot more to give." y/n smiled and her eyes moved to Lucy's.
The look in the older woman's eyes was one y/n say often, and she returned it with just as much love as Lucy began to answer a question, knowing full well, social media was about to go insane.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
2. When y/n was knocked over during the Sweden game and Lucy didn't even hesitate to square up, her face was so worried, and she only stopped when y/n GRABBED HER HAND?!
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
y/n knew this game was going to be tough, violent, but she had not quite estimated how much. Her girls were fighting and fighting hard, and they had been rewarded for it. They were 3-0 up, the first goal was her own.
y/n looked up quickly, the ball at her feet as she danced past another player and sent the ball toward Lauren who was making a quick run. Just as Lauren recieved the ball, y/n was thrown.
Her small frame shook and she practically flew to the side as the shove and ankle which caused her fall threw her onto the ground harshly, rolling in the grass y/n coughed out, the air sucked from her lungs.
The whistle blew but Lucy was seeing red. The older woman had always been protective of her girlfriend, the small midfielder usually the victim of harsh tackles as she was too quick to catch.
Lucy's body was instantly covering y/n's her eyes glaring at the Swedish player who had made the tackle, Lucy wasn't foolish enough to do anything, but it didn't stop the anger rolling off her.
"What the hell was that?" Lucy spat at her, the Swedish player trying to come up with an answer as the referee finally made her way over, a harsh look on her face.
y/n groaned as she heaved a breath in, Lucy still shouting at the player in anger, the referee trying to keep the players crowding around her calm.
The medics helped y/n to her feet, the woman confirming she was okay, just momentarily winded. Lucy stepped forward in anger but y/n darted forward.
Her hand gripped Lucy's fingers, turning the right-back to face her as the referee carded the player who had tackled her, her teammates trying to convince the referee for a red.
"Hey, I'm okay, Calm down." y/n whispered to her lover, her own hand gripping her hand tightly.
Lucy's eyes scanned her, trying to see if she was lying or trying to hide any discomfort, but when their eyes found one another Lucy knew she was telling the truth.
"Okay." Lucy whispered, squeezing y/n's hand before walking away, the two both aware that everyone will have noticed the interaction.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
3. Ellie, in a livestream for City YESTERDAY saying that she would stay with Lucy and y/n, confirming they live together - which we already thought!
Then going on to say they have a spare room - even though Lucy has said multiple times she lives in a two bed apartment and y/n has never said anything about her 'place'!
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
Ellie Roebuck and Lauren Hemp sat on two chairs, doing a video for the man city women's you-tube of being asked questions and answering them on whiteboards.
The two had just been asked out of all their teammates international and club level who would they like to live with most. Both turning their boards around, Lauren saying 'Alex Greenwood' because she was motherly and cooked well.
Ellie on the other hand had said 'y/n and Lucy' the two in Barcelona but on the same international team as the blonde goalkeeper, Lauren laughed in agreement.
"Well, they have a spare room, y/n cooks such good food and I feel like I would be looked after." Ellie laughs, Lauren chuckling along.
"Their spare room is lush, super homey with all the blankets." Lauren agreed.
"And the weather in Barcelona is all hot and nice." Ellie added. "So yeah, definitely the skipper and Luce!" Ellie adds smiling.
It was only as the two blondes walked away from the end of filming did they realise what they had done, because Lucy had stated several times she lived in a two bed apartment.
And the two had managed to spill the fact the two lived together and they had a spare room, they instantly facetimed their captain, but the woman wasn't worried.
Both her and Lucy weren't overly worried about hiding their relationship anymore and to Ellie's relief she was invited to stay with them during the off season to taste more of her captain's delicious cooking.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
4. The fact when y/n scored in the Sweden game she ran at Lucy first??? AND JUMPED ON HER
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
It was ten minutes into the semi-finals of the euros. Sweden were a fantastic side, everyone knew it and as y/n waited on the outside of the box, she hoped one of her team had the ability to head this corner in.
The ball was sent in, it bouncing from a Swedish head and landing at y/n's feet. The woman hardly thought, she just reacted and fired it at the top corner, the net shaking from the strength of her goal.
y/n grinned, shouting in happiness as she ran at her lover, to estatic to care in the moment as she jumped at Lucy, the brunette catching her easily.
y/n's legs locked around her torso as Lucy's hand went under her arse and the other around her back to keep her stable. Lucy buried her head into her stomach as the team swarmed them.
y/n jumped back down the team crowding her in a hug, and as they ran back to restart she shared another loving smile with Lucy, the two both loving the eventual photo which came from that celebration.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
5. The fact y/n left ARSENAL - her childhood team - to go play for Barca only months after Lucy had and she even admitted in an interview LUCY WAS A BIG PART OF THAT DECISION
6 When Lucy called y/n in an interview the other day and she answered with 'hi my love???' LIKE????
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
y/n smiled as she listened to the interview asking her how it was to leave Arsenal for her new team, the reds having been such a massive part in her childhood.
"It was so hard, yes, it was great to know Keira and I were going from our respective clubs together, but I definitely left a big part of me in North London." y/n nodded.
"I came through that academy, my best friend is there, my co-captain through it all. So yeah, it was a tough decision." y/n nodded.
"And what helped that decision?" The interviewer asked.
"The sun here definitely." y/n laughed and the interviewer joined her in her laughter.
"Well, you are half Italian. Anything else?" the interviewer asked, but her phone began to ring and y/n muttered an apology as she answered it, Lucy's name on the screen.
"Hi my love. You okay?" y/n asked into the phone, her lover replying with a yes and asking where she was. "i'm just at an interview Luce." y/n hummed.
"Shit, forgot, sorry, I'm going." Her girlfriend gasped before hanging up the phone. y/n chuckled and apologised again, the interviewer waving it off as she asked about the right-back and y/n felt the honesty flow through her.
"Yes, Lucy Bronze was a big part of it too, obviously she has been at Barcelona longer than I and we talked a lot about the move, she was such a help in me deciding." y/n explains.
"She understood my worry, but also helped me ease them and for me it was about learning a new way of football, and Lucy has been such a help in me getting used to it here." y/n smiled again.
And when that interview would eventually come out, Lucy Bronze would be holding her lover, letting the tears fall as she pressed her lips to y/n's continuously telling her how much she truly loved her.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
7. THE FACT THAT THE MOST RECENT BARCA TRAINING PHOTO Y/N HAS LUCY'S TRAINING TOP ON - AND WHEN KEIRA NOTICED SHE MOVED SLIGHTLY TO PLACE HERSELF IN FRONT OF THE NUMBER SO THE CAMERA COULDN'T SEEE
^
fr I need friends that dedicated to hiding my relationship
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
y/n huffed as she tugged her shirt up again, the marks on her collarbone hidden well enough for now by the shirt which seemed far to big for her today.
The right-back chuckled as she pulled the car to a stop in the car park, leaning over the console to cup her girlfriend's face. Her hand gripped y/n's jaw, turning her to face her.
"Stop huffing." Lucy chided, leaning forward to peck the pout from her lover's lips.
"If someone sees these Lucia, you won't have any sex for a week." y/n warns the woman.
Lucy instantly whines in protest her hand reaching down to unclip her lover's seatbelt and pull her sideways across her lap, y/n letting out a panicked yelp as she did so.
The two despite being in a relationship for nearly four years, they were still parallel to teenagers, hardly ever able to keep their hands from one's another's body and their lips from each other's mouths.
"I don't remember you complaining last night baby." Lucy hums lowly, her accent thickening with the gruff in her voice, the sound of her lover's moans, the arch of her back engrained in her brain as her favourite movie.
Lucy's lips pecked down the side of y/n's neck, the girl instantly bending her head back to give Lucy more free skin to work with which caused the brunette to smirk at the hold she had over her.
"In fact, I remember the words, 'faster' and 'more' coming from your mouth a few times last night." Lucy continues.
y/n's eyes roll back slightly from the pleasure inducing tension, but she pushes herself up and off Lucy, glaring at her lover who she realises is just trying to seduce her.
"Are you trying to seduce me?" y/n asked as she leans down to get her bag, jumping out of the car, but as she turns she feels herself pinned, Lucy's hips stopping her moving as the brunette leans over her easily.
"Would you like me to seduce you?" Lucy asks, her lips brushing the shell of y/n's ear. The player shivers, leaning up to press her lips against her lover's who matches the fierce force of her kiss.
"Ay ay ay!" a shout echoes and the two pull away to see Mapi and Patri grinning and cheering, y/n rolling her eyes as she drags her lover inside.
"Lovebirds, no having sex in the car park." Alexia warns the two, but there is an amount of amusement in her eyes as she hugs y/n in greeting.
"Too late for that then." Lucy hums innocently, causing Mapi to spit out her water.
"Que??" Mapi shrieks and y/n shrugs at her friend.
what
"It had been a long week." She hums and Alexia wrinkles her nose in disgust.
The group laugh it off and walk to the gym, Keira and y/n discussing the newest episode of Queen Charlotte they had been watching together with bright excitement.
Just as they started working out, the usual social media team moved inside and the group cheered them in welcome, having known them well by this point.
y/n was doing her usual stretches, chatting with Aitana when she felt it. A body behind her, blocking her back from the camera and y/n turned to see Keira.
"Hey, you okay?" y/n asked as she turned to face her friend, the camera moving off them.
"Yeah, just, didn't want anyone to think you've changed numbers." Keira hums and y/n's eyes widen as she looks behind her and sighs at Lucy's number on her back.
"Thought this was too big for me." y/n sighed and Keira chuckled. "Must have grabbed her extra this morning." She adds, before she pauses and looks over at her girlfriend who was grinning happily.
"She gave the top to you this morning didn't she?" Keira asks, already knowing the games Lucy liked the play.
"Yep." y/n sighs before she walks over to her girlfriend and Keira laughs as Lucy shrieks.
"Ow!"
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
LASTLY - the fact they went on holiday together after the euros after Ibiza, and the photos ... the PHOTOS
okay, I'm done, they're soooo dating, thank you.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
y/n giggled as Lucy's hand tugged her toward the villa they were staying at. The team who had gone to Ibiza after the euros had rented three villas for them all, and Lucy's and y/n's room-mates were still out partying.
Due to the fact, Leah, Georgia, Jordan were planning on not coming home for several hours, Lucy saw the opportunity to steal her girlfriend away and spend some time truly celebrating her lover.
"Come 'ere." Lucy hums, leaning down and connecting her lips to her lover's. The villa just in sight as y/n sighed into the deep kiss, her hands gripping Lucy's shoulders.
Lucy's hands trailed down y/n's bare back, burning the skin with her soft touch. Lucy nipped at y/n's bottom lip causing her to moan into her lover's mouth.
"Come on, we're nearly there." y/n gasped at Lucy and the woman nodded, fumbling to get the door open and tugging her lover in. Quickly the right-back pressed her lover against it.
With her strength Lucy easily held the power as she pressed a dangerously loving kiss against y/n's lips. As they continued and the noises got louder, neither of them noticed their phones going crazy over a very shadowy photograph.

°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
"Smile!" y/n chimes, Lucy turning her head just as y/n snaps a photo of her lover, the two now in Spain for a private holiday of their own before returning to their club.
Lucy chuckled as y/n smiled at the photo, leaning over to pull her lover closer, y/n sighed as she settled into Lucy's shoulder, turning on her front to let her back tan for a bit.
Lucy's hand wrapped around her, landing on the skin of her ass which was bare due to the thong swimsuit she was wearing. Once again the two had rented out a small house.
Therefore no one was near, no one could see their back pool or garden and no one could make any noise complaints over the next seven days.
Lucy's hand squeezed for a moment before letting her hand settle, still gripping slightly and y/n huffed, trying to push her lover's hand off.
"Stop, I'm going to get a tan line." y/n scolds, trying to pull Lucy's hand off.
"Is that supposed to stop me?" Lucy asks lazily, y/n scoffs and biting her shoulder in response. "Ow!" Lucy yelps, sitting up.
y/n makes a noise of pride, shuffling her sun bed away from her lover and closing her eyes as she continued to tan, her lover going suspiciously quiet.
Suddenly, there was a faint pull from her back and she was lifted over someone's shoulder. y/n let out a call of shock, especially when she realised the pull was Lucy discarding her bikini top.
"Lucia!" y/n called, but the brunette just ignored her and threw her onto the bed, jumping on top of her quickly so she couldn't scramble away.
"We have a few hours before dinner. I've got time." Lucy said simply, before her mouth found y/'s nipple and the woman lost all fight in her body.

°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
After dinner, and y/n once more taking photos of her lover who she continuously told was the most gorgeous in the world. The two walked slowly back to their place.
The two walked across the beach, feet sinking into the sand as they talked, hands connected shoes in Lucy's bag. Eventually Lucy pulled her lover to a stop, just outside the house, the sun only just setting as she did so.
"I'm so proud of you love, you know that?" Lucy asks the Lioness captain. "You took us to that win." She adds and y/n sighs as she leans forward.
"I did it for you." y/n said simply, forehead's connected. Lucy did not fight that, because she knew it was completely true.
"I love you." Lucy hums.
"I love you too." y/n replies, leaning up to kiss her lover in the shadow of dusk. The light kiss so quick, it hardly happened, but both felt every spark it created.
Lucy led her in the night being filled with loving and soft touches, whispered nothings and soft moans, neither noticed the camera which had caught the kiss moments ago.

Baby Fever
Tumblr media
Leah Williamson x reader
-> reader experiences Baby fever for the first time and does not know what to do with herself
-> Based on about a thousand pictures of Leah with Kids
➳ Masterlist
•─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────•
Tearing her ACL in April had been horrible – and Leah knew that. But she also knew that she was mentally prepared to deal with it – she was in a good place and would come out even stronger. That was the plan, and now in June, just two months in, she had her surgery done and started rehab.
The blonde found herself having a lot more time on her hands now and she loved spending it with you and her family. While most of the world saw her go out with her best friend Alex, she came home to you – her wife for over two years now. She would not change her busy schedule for the world, even though there was a World Cup that she could not attend.
The defender relished the time she had with her family.
Together with her cousin Jordan, she had been working on a book, her second one but the first fiction book for children. While the beginning was slow, Leah busy with Match after Match a mountain of training in between – the process sped up rapidly after her injury.
In June they announced the release date – the 31st of August. Which was just a little bit short of three months away, plenty of time to finish writing it.
You had a couple weeks off as well – it was the summer holidays and the schools were closed, and you were bored out of your mind. Leah could not take your whining anymore, so she dragged you to Jordan’s house to babysit. Her husband, Rob, had to work and their one-year-old son was just as bored as you were.
The beginning was hesitant. While Jordan was lovely, how much fun could a one-year-old be?
Turns out, a lot of it. It had been hours by this point, from when Leah and Jordan removed themselves from the living room and moved into her office. Leaving you with little Henry.
When the two blondes emerged from the office, two more chapters done it was dark outside already – the cousins having lost themselves between the pages. Where Jordan expected complete chaos, she found a clean home with you resting on the couch, her little boy asleep on your tummy.
Leah’s heart melted.
She loved kids, especially the ones in her family, and while she knew that you wanted them as well – this was new. Usually, it was her holding the kids with you watching her with wide eyes, eager to see her in such a maternal role.
But now it was her turn to stare – and she could not help herself but imagine having a child with you. The drive home was calm with Leah’s heavy hand resting on your thigh while she drove – both of you deep in thought.
While Leah had a busy week coming up, you had a lot of time and you found yourself watching a bunch of TikToks of adorable little babies. All of a sudden, your usual shopping trip took a different route when you stumbled upon the kid’s section. Looking at one fuzzy romper after the other – tears in your eyes as the pregnant women were met with jealous stares from you.
You were lying in bed when Leah returned home from a night out celebrating with Alex, who promised you that she would look after the blonde. “Baby? Why are you still awake?” To your surprise, the blonde was completely sober and changed into comfy clothes before joining you under a soft blanket.
“Look at them, Lee!” You excitedly showed her your phone, a video of a baby meeting a cute little kitten.
“Very cute baby. But that is what kept you up?” You hesitated for a second before showing her video after video of little kids and babies until you finally fell asleep, the blonde gently took the phone out of your hand.
While your wife had no clue what had gotten into you, she loved it.
Aston Villa had beaten Arsenal 2-0 in one of the last games of the season. And while it had broken Leah's heart she was still there, supporting her girls.
Once the match was over the two of you had joined the teams on the pitch when a little blonde girl caught your eye. She was heading straight to you, making grabby hands with her tiny fists at you – so without much thinking, you hoisted her up onto your hips. “Leah!”
“I’m not Leah baby. You wanna go see her?” Big blue eyes stared into your soul and with just a little imagination you could see a little Leah in her.
You did not have to look very far to find your wife as she limped her way over to you. “And who are you, little lady?” The toddler however did not care about formalities and went straight to business
“Faster tan you!” A fake gasp left Leah’s lips at the words.
“I don’t believe you! I think we will have to race!”
And with that, you were made the race official, moving back a good distance, as you clapped into your hands.
The tiny blonde started making her way to you, Leah following her on her as well as she could. You could see in your wife’s face that she was in pain, yet she tried to make this as fun as possible for the young girl who she just knew had taken over your heart.
To no one’s surprise, it was the toddler who ran into your arms – winning the race. “Good job girlie!” With the girl back on your hips, you made your way over to Leah, rewarding her valiant efforts with a kiss.
About a million pictures were being taken right now but neither of you minded.
“Kimie!” The toddler in your arms had found her aunt, so the two of you said ‘bye-bye’ to Leah.
Katie just had to tease her vice-captain “Careful Lee, your eyes will glue themselves to ya missus!” The nudge to the blonde's side nearly made her fall over after the exhausting sprint. “Shut up McCabe.”
“Aww – grouchy. You jealous that it's not yours?” Leah knew that her friend referred to the toddler who did not want to leave her wife's arms, but she could not face that right now. “At least I still have a wife.”
Ouch. That hurt.
Back at your joined home, you could not stop talking about Kim’s niece, showing her picture after picture you had taken with the little girl. “What’s gotten into you baby?”
You knew it was coming, but you still tried to play dumb. “What are you talking about?” Leah took hold of both of your wrists in one of her hands, keeping you sat on the couch, stopping you from fleeing. The other hand found its way to your hair, stroking it gently, hoping to calm you down.
“Don’t play dumb baby. I found tiny shoes in our closet this afternoon. Shoes that are much too small for either of us.”
Your eyes roamed the room, desperate for an explanation when you found the first copy of ‘The Wonder Team’. “They’re for Jordan!”
But the blonde did not even have to say anything, already seeing your eyes tearing up. She pulled you on her lap, as you sobbed into her shoulder. “I- I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I jus couldn’t help myself.”
You were slurring your words together, making it hard to understand. Your wife however pulled out her phone and opened the period tracker she had for you. “Baby, you are close to ovulation. Your body is ready for a baby.”
But your crying did not stop, it just got worse.
“Yeah, b- but I don’t usually get like this.” Leah did not know how or what to answer, the last week had been exhausting on your mind so she just leaned back, positioning you in a way that you could hear her calming heartbeat as your swollen eyes started to droop.
“I jus wan a baby with you.” The footballer could not help herself but coo at your sleepy confession as she rubbed your back.
“I know baby – me too.”

omg please write a part 2 to that Jill fic its absolutely broken my heart
It Takes A Second To Say Hello, But Forever To Say Goodbye || jill roord x reader
Tumblr media
jill roord x mancity!reader
Part 1
prompt: requested!
warnings: angst
a/n: i got multiple requests for a part 2 so here you go!
The silence that followed your confession was deafening, the slamming of the door of the washroom stall was the only noise heard. Not only did Jill hear you loud and clear, but so did your other teammates. Small tears had began to brim in your eyes and your mind was jumbled, your body felt numb. This was not how you wanted to tell her, not that you ever wanted to tell her frankly. You were planning on keeping this secret a secret for as long as you could. Jill has a girlfriend, and she seemed happy. You would rather her be happy with someone else than possibly unhappy with you, all you wanted for her is to be happy. Your teammates tried to comfort you, tried to pull you in for hugs, but the only thing you could do is run to the pitch and began getting ready for the match.
Stepping on the pitch was like a safe place for you. Your brain could turn off and all you focused on was football. But today, emotions were high, thoughts were cloudy, and honestly, you were utterly embarrassed. You tried your best to warm up, going through a quick few drills, but all you thought about was Jill. Her eyes wide and mouth parted when you confessed your secret admiration for the girl. You knew indefinitely that you were in love with her, but she wasn’t in love with you.
Back in the changing room Jill is left speechless. Her mind is running at 100 km/h, unsure of so, so many things. You had just confessed that you were in love with her and then ran out so quickly that she didn’t even get a second to really process the sentence that left your mouth. The sentence that shattered your heart, but confused Jill’s brain. What hurt the most was that you never told Jill about your crush. From the moment Jill had met you when she played for Arsenal, she fancied you. She was overzealous when she got back from the match and you had followed her on social media, obviously returning the favor very quickly. When she transferred to Man City, she hoped the two of you could form a relationship, whether that be a friendship or a romantic relationship. She really just wanted to know you, understand you. Questions of, what would have been and what would have happened if she told you how she felt stormed her brain. She wanted you at a certain point and you wanted her too.
Jill had spent weeks pinning over you. Hoping that the subtle coffee dates, movie watching, and cuddling on the coach would portray her feelings towards you, but they were left unanswered. She figured that you just wanted to be friends with Jill, and she would take being friends, even if it physically pained her, over nothing with you. She needed you in her life and any way she could get that was good for her. So when she had met someone through a mutual friend, she assumed that you would be fine with it, because she thought you did not love her like she loved you.
The confession could not have happened at a worse time as you both now had to transition and play a 90 minute football game. Your passes were weak and Jill’s shot on goal was subpar. The weight of what had occurred previously was definitely affecting the both of your performances on the pitch. Man City was blessed to come out on the other side and win the match 2-0 thanks to Lauren, as you were subbed off early, your head clearly not in the game.
“Y/N” is all Jill said to you when you walked to the bench, sitting several seats over from her. You did not answer her, here was definitely not the place nor the time to get into the situation.
The changing room was tense, a lingering feeling of miscommunication and confusion was in the air. Your teammates knew you and Jill were close but not really understanding the deep connection you both had formed, especially when you both liked each other at one point. Your teammates could tell in trainings or in the lounge the conversations between you two, the eye contact, the way your hands would brush casually, but never really though much about it. Assuming that one of you would man up and confess your feelings.
Jill invaded every waking thought you had for the next few days. When you woke up, you thought of Jill. When you were about to go to bed, you thought of Jill, she even invaded your dreams or possibly nightmares depending on the dream. The hardest part of dreaming about someone you love is waking up to remember that that person is gone. Everything reminded you of her as well, that combined with the fact that she was also your teammate was hard. You both kept it professional, making sure to not ever be alone with her and trying your best not to make eye contact with her, knowing you would immediately burst into tears. Jill had unintentionally shattered your heart.
Jill had wanted to send you a single text, ‘I am was in love with you too’ is all she wanted to write or likewise texts that conveyed her feelings but each time she would erase the words, unable to communicate. So she left her feelings completely to herself.
Jill’s heart was also in pieces. She had lost you entirely it felt like, although she didn’t know she had done it to you. She racked her brain on how she could not feel the mutual crush you both shared. She was in a happy relationship, it was unfair to her partner to simply just break up with her because the one she wanted you had just confessed your love for her.
When you left in the January transfer window to Real Madrid, it was shell shocking, not only for Jill, but also your teammates and Man City fans. Jill tried to text you but you left her on delivered, unable to come up with the right words to say, unsure if you ever knew what the right words would be. Your transfer was talked about on all platforms, many people speculating why you did not renew, some even coming up with nasty and crazy rumors on what occurred. You knew other teams were eyeing you as your contract was expiring. At first you were hesitant, but after everything with Jill, you needed something new, a new environment, one where Jill wasn’t.
Unfortunately, Jill never left your mind, always lingering in the back of your brain. Anytime she would post on social media, you immediately saw it, not being able to force yourself to turn off her notifications. You had gotten close when she posted her new relationship, but Jill looked happy, and at the end of the day, that is all that you cared about and mattered to you. You also kept up with how Manchester City was doing in the WSL, that was your team for as long as you could remember so you would always support them. You also secretly always checked how Jill performed. You knew you would be trying forever to say goodbye to Jill. She had such an immediate impact on your life, your first real true love, she was unforgettable. You had noticed that as of recently, Jill was not posting with her partner, but that was simply none of your business.
Several weeks later, national duty came up and you had completely forgotten that there was a scheduled friendly match against the Netherlands. Initially you and Jill were so excited, talking about how she would show you around her favorite places in her home country when you got there. You were even going to meet her family as well. Obviously those plans were before the ‘incident’, as you now referred to it as, so you now only felt dread thinking about the match.
For prematch and in the tunnel, you completely avoided Jill, only seeing her when you high-fived the opposing team before the start of the match. You also tried your best to stay clear of her on the pitch as well. Since this was just a friendly, you both did not play much, subbed off pretty early on to avoid injury. After the match you knew you wanted to speak to Viv, she was a dear friend of yours when Arsenal would take on Man City.
The final match whistle blew and you made a bee line for Viv, hoping to catch her quickly and then go back to the changing room. Until you heard a voice desperately calling your name, you knew the voice instantly, her voice. Everything in you knew not to turn around, not to give in, but it was as if you did not have control over your body as you turned to face the eyes you had been desperately missing. The eyes that initially made you fall in love with her.
“Y/N” is all she breathed out, almost in a whisper, surprised you actually turned around to her.
“Jill” you reply back to her. An awkward silence fell over the two of you, both not necessarily sure what to say next. Jill rubbed her neck, bouncing on her heels. Talking to you use to be like second nature for Jill, but now she was unable to form a coherent sentence.
“I um, I am single now.” she admits, her eyes fall to the ground, scared of your reaction to the sentence.
A wave of deja vu hits you, as once again you have found yourself in a situation similar to your confession all those months ago with Jill. Jill now confessing that she was single, insinuating that her being single was to mean something to you. All the pushed back emotions of trying to force Jill out of your mind were now out. You had spent weeks trying to figure out how to say a complete goodbye to Jill and move on. A lifetime of trying to say a proper goodbye to Jill. But now here she is trying to rekindle everything you fought so hard to forget.
“Jill” is all you could mutter out again. While a small part inside you was ecstatic, a large portion of you was concerned, hoping Jill did not break up with her previous partner because of your confession. Does she maybe possibly like you back? But that wasn’t fair to you, but even after everything, Jill was still your muse, your why, your love.
The very very very last thing you should do is hug her, under no circumstances should you hug her. But unfortunately, stood in the middle of the pitch, your bodies embraced. Your not sure if you started the hug first or if she did but nothing mattered. You were hugging Jill, you missed her warm body, her strong arms, her vanilla scent, everything about her.
The words unspoken meant much more, knowing at some point when the hug ends, you will need to talk to her. But for right now, you were hugging Jill, the love of your life. While you thought you were going to spend forever trying to say goodbye, it was so much easier to say hello. Welcoming the new rollercoaster that both you and Jill stepped on.

Just an FYI  • Ana-Maria Crnogorčević
Tumblr media
Request:  can I please request jealous protective anamaria over R?
Word count: 3k
Going into the Champions league semi final you were quite surprised to see that Barca would be going up against Arsenal. Nonetheless, you were excited. Especially because of how the last games ended two years ago. You knew the reds have improved their team and game a lot since then, but that didn’t stop you from picturing all the goals your team would send soaring past Zinsberger.
You sat next to your usual bus buddy, Ana, on the way to the stadium and the two of you spent the bus ride laughing and sharing the snacks you were allowed to eat.
“How many goals do you think we’ll score?” she questions with the same cheeky smile on her face that you are wearing, the both of you more than ready for the match.
“I reckon 2, maybe 3.” you nod confidently, following your statement by your own question. “What would you predict for the end result?”
“3-0” she shrugs nonchalantly and you chuckle at her antics, leaning into her side more. Your cheeks are dusted with a light pink shade as Ana keeps an arm around you.
“Okay, 3-1 if we get unlucky.” You can only nod along to her words, knowing that the team is in its best form and a strong Arsenal won’t stop you from scoring.
Walking out into the tunnel already clad in your Barca jersey you take your place behind Jana. Your focus is solely on the pitch just outside the tunnel but you’re also aware of the stares of some players from the Arsenal line to your right.
You breathe in deeply to calm your nerves and then you slowly exhale. Ana senses your slight distress from behind you and without a second thought she slides her hand into yours, giving it a squeeze. It seems like her gesture has the desired effect because the pounding of your heart is becoming less intense and you feel more at ease. Your thumb rubs over her knuckles in appreciation and the Swiss international’s heart swells at it. Just as quickly as her hand slipped into yours, you let go of it though and Ana’s eyes snap down to your hand in confusion, only to then be nudged from behind and she realizes the team has started walking out.
The game is intense to say the least. It is apparent that even without Vivianne and Beth, Arsenal are more than capable of creating chances. Barca is doing good too and although the possession remains mostly in your team’s, Arsenal’s defense is proving to be hard to get through.
You’re experiencing it first hand because as soon as you're near the penalty box, a certain defender takes you out in some way or another. Every single time. More than half of these tackles have been borderline fouls which frustrates you and your team on no end. Irene and Ana can barely contain themselves enough to not spring into action and give the defender a bit of their own medicine.
The first time you were brutally side tackled, her boots catching a bit of your ankles, you thought you knew who it was. The flash of the red jersey and the aggression of the tackle is one you’ve experienced from an Arsenal defender before. However, when you catch sight of the name on her back, you’re beyond surprised to see it’s not McCabe who’s been trying to end your career.
“Bloody hell, what has gotten into her?!” you mutter under your breath as Ana helps you up and the referee finally blows her whistle. There’s a fire in Ana’s eyes as she glares at Catley, one that you recognize in every other Barca player’s eyes too. They’re all ready for revenge. It’s a well known fact about Barcelona, any Barca team. If they mess with one if you, they won’t come out alive.
“What? Ref that was nothing, it was the ball! The ball!” Steph shouts in fury, mimicking a ball with her hands.
“You might need glasses, honey.” Mapi retaliates and while Ingrid tries to stifle her laugh, Ana next to you doesn’t hold back. The referee interferes before it can go any further and hands the ball to Irene, telling her that the team is going to be awarded a free kick. Steph Catley’s expression falters slightly as she watches the ref write her name on the yellow card.
“You confident to take it?” she raises an eyebrow with a small smile, knowing just how much you enjoyed shooting from long distances.
As you stand behind the ball just halfway in between the halfway-line and the penalty area, your eyes rake over the players scattered around in front of the goal. Your gaze connects with Ingrid’s and all you need is the small nod she gives you before you’re sending the ball into another dimension with the force you kick it with. The Arsenal players expected you to line your shot up for a header but when the ball goes soaring above them and straight into the goal, they stare after it with wide eyes, their bodies still in a position that tells you they were ready to head the ball away. Dumbfounded, that’s what they were. All of them.
In an instant you’re surrounded by the team as you do a knee slide in celebration before getting into the group hug.
“I fucking told you they weren’t ready for you!” Ana shouts in your face as she touches her forehead to yours and you laugh at her words while your body heats up. Even as the team moves back into position, the winger stares after you with a prideful look.
Your happiness is short lived because barely fifteen minutes later and just before halftime, Frida manages to slot the ball into the goal, just out of reach for Panos.
Despite the equalizer, the girls' heads are held high as you head to the locker room, ready for the halftime speech Jonatan would be giving.
Ana-Maria’s hand subtly resting on your thigh grounds you enough to absorb everything the coach says like a dehydrated plant. Ana on the other hand, keeps most of her focus on you during those fifteen minutes and she doesn’t miss the pink tint of your cheeks as her thumb grazes your skin just below your shorts.
Truthfully, the two had been dancing around your feelings for each other since the start of the season. It started when the team was out for team bonding and you ended up dancing with a girl at the bar - far too intimately you had to admit. It resulted in endless teasing from your friends and a scowl on Ana’s face. You didn’t understand why she was upset, and for the first few days neither did Ana. But as the weeks went by and her urge to be closer to you only grew, she had come to the realization that she had strong feelings for you.
You shared these feelings, you’ve always found Ana attractive but you were scared to shoot your shot with the older woman, scared of the embarrassment you’d feel when you would be rejected. The blonde never made a move on you either, only giving small signs here and there that weren’t enough to give you a clear indication as to how she felt. She has only recently gotten as touchy as she was now, her hand rarely leaving you.
The second half of the game is a hard fought one. Frida and Stina are on the move any chance they get and Steph still hasn’t given up on trying to sprain your ankle. In spite of their clearly good advances on goal, your team has switched up their strategy as well. Zinsberger can’t catch a break in goal with each shot Caro and you send her way, and you’re proud to say that Sandra has stayed clean in your goal. The defenders are working extra hard to keep the ball away from the penalty box.
Just as the clock hits the 60’th minute mark, Ana sends a through ball that ends up in front of Aitana’s feet who continues the pass towards you. You know you have to make a quick decision before Catley comes pouncing on you. Pass or shoot. The ball is still in the air. Pass or shoot. The red of Steph’s shirt appears in your peripheral vision, you can’t let her close. Shoot.
With a jump, your back still facing the Arsenal goal, your foot connects with the ball in an overhead shot. On your descent towards the ground you merely manage to crane your neck and watch as Zinsberger attempts to punch it over the crossbar.
You aren’t given a second to react before a body lands on you, many following behind and you lay under the pile of blaugrana players with a satisfied grin on your lips.
“VAMOOSSS!!”
The switch flips after that and Barca take advantage of Arsenal’s momentary discouragement. Another shot fires into the back of the goal, courtesy to Caroline and you don’t even bat an eye at the way Steph barrels into you when the game is resumed because it is only five minutes after that when the full time whistle is blown. Barca is through to the final.
You ignore the Arsenal players around you and the crowd as you dance around in happiness with your teammates, celebrating the win.
“3-1 like I told you.” Ana winks at you and you roll your eyes at her.
“It’s not like I said it would be different.” she chuckles at you and then breaks out in a laugh when you gently shove her.
Once everything has calmed down a bit, you shake hands with the one red player you haven’t shaken hands with. You’re surprised when you’re pulled into a hug by the defender but you pat her back anyway. Steph pulls back from you though she keeps her hands on your biceps and looks you over with a smirk.
“You made my job extra hard today, you know.” she informs you as her thumbs rub into your bicep and you let out a nervous laugh.
“Yeah well I didn’t know the yellow card McCabe’s spirit would possess you.” The Australian throws her head back as she laughs and her hands slide lower on your arm before her fingers graze over yours.
You barely resist from pulling back from her touch, mildly uncomfortable in the situation you’ve found yourself in with the defender who’s been trying to separate your ankles from the rest of your legs.
“Do you want to swap shirts?” the heavy accent rings out close to your face and she doesn’t give you time to answer as she pulls the shirt over her head. You can’t refuse now though. Steph’s hands play with your Barca kit but she’s quick to put it on once you’ve handed it to her.
Steph’s eyes remain glued to your toned abdomen as she continues lightly praising the way you’ve played. Just as her fingertips are about to make contact with where she’s been staring, a hand slides across your torso.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you’ve been holding as you recognize the arm and your body relaxes into hers. Ana’s hand remains on the waistband of your shorts, clearly displaying not only her protectiveness but also rubbing it into the defender’s face when her fingers softly scratch the skin of your abdomen, soothing you more than possible.
Steph’s eyes finally part ways with your abs and her head snaps back up to your face. You almost laugh at the frightened look that washes over her expression.
“Everything okay here?” That's not a question, all three of you know that.
The Swiss international stares her down, a mix of emotions swirling in her eyes but Steph can tell none of them are good. The brunette clears her throat in discomfort, averting her eyes back to yours as she rushes out a goodbye.
“It was nice to meet you - well formally, you know, apart from the many tackles.” she huffs out a laugh but stops when Ana raises a daring eyebrow, urging her to finish.
“Erm, well thank you for the shirt and goodluck in the final” the Australian almost squeaks out and you decide to cut her some slack as you give her a quick hug. Still, the blonde’s hand remains on the small of your back and she gives Steph one last glare over your shoulder before the defender practically sprints back to her own team. Ana snorts at that and you lift your gaze to meet the older woman.
“Thank you” you tell her sincerely as you lean into her side and you discreetly press a small kiss to her shoulder. The winger’s face heats up right in front of you for the first time ever and she struggles to say anything for a second. A smile forms on your lips as you see her all flustered. You’d be lying if you said your knees weren’t close to giving out from the softness of her eyes and the seemingly star struck expression on her face.
“I’ll go catch up with Ingrid and Frida, okay? I will see you after” you give her arm a squeeze and Ana nods at you. She stares after you as you join your national teammates while you struggle to pull on the shirt and she chuckles under her breath when Ingrid gives you a helping hand.
“Du bist eifersüchtig” A voice speaks up next to her and Ana jumps slightly. Lia grins at her with a knowing look and Ana can’t stop herself from rolling her eyes.
“Nein.”
“Ja. Don’t think I didn’t see whatever that was just now. Oh and the hand holding before the game?” the Swiss women share a look and then Ana sighs in defeat as she finally pulls her national teammate into a hug. However, she is quick to redirect the topic as she instead opts to ask about how her friend has been doing since the last time they’ve seen each other.
A few minutes later both teams start heading inside and you hug Frida goodbye as you detach from your Norwegian group. You lean your head on Ana’s shoulder, who without your knowledge glances down at you with a fond smile.
“Hi Lia” you greet the Swiss Arsenal player and she hugs you.
“I also better get going. See you next time” she tells the two of you and then she gives Ana a teasing smirk who thinks she knows what her friend is about to say. “Sag ihr, dass du sie liebst!” the confusion on your face is one she expected but the blonde next to you had been totally caught off guard by what she said. But, a second later, she does give a small, shy nod.
“Come, let’s not make them wait.” you follow the blonde into the changing room and then onto the bus.
It doesn’t come as a surprise to you when by the time the bus leaves the car park, half the team is passed out and deep in sleep. The dark sky outside the window can only hint as to just how late it is. You’re sitting next to Ana in one of the last rows in the bus, like usual.
Unlike the rest of your friends though, the two of you are wide awake. You’ve always been known to be very energetic so you can’t even think of resting your eyes. Meanwhile, Ana-Maria next to you is deep in thought about what Lia had told her.
You linking your pinkies together is what breaks her out of her trance and she turns to you. The dimmed lights of the bus give you a halo and as the light from the street lamps shine through the window Ana recognizes the glimmer in your eyes.
“What’s got you lost?” you whisper, mindful of all the girls who are sleeping around you. The blonde’s eyes are dark with desire and the urge to tell you everything. She swallows hard as you patiently wait for her to say something.
“Look Y/N/N, I just really-” she stops mid sentence, wondering if it was the right thing to tell you. You reach out with one hand to cup her cheek gently, bringing her gaze to meet yours again.
“You really what?” Ana opens her mouth again and her eyelids flutter at the way her body heats up when your thumb strokes over her cheek. She has never felt so flustered around someone. She can feel your breath fanning against her face, only now noticing that she has subconsciously leaned closer to you. “Ana?”
“I really like you” she chokes out and she’s ready to panic but your soft touch calms her slightly. “Actually, maybe I'm in love with you. I don’t know if that’s a wrong thing, I get it if you don’t feel the same way. Just like, an FYI” she rambles in a hushed tone and you swear you’ve never seen her act so nervous.
The butterflies in your stomach are going crazy however and you’re overwhelmed with joy knowing that the Swiss woman feels the same way you do.
“Ana, I’m in love with you too” you tell her softly - although truthfully you thought it was obvious - and her eyes meet yours. The adoration in your gaze makes her blush deeper and you smile at her, your own face heating up at the close proximity as well as the confession.
“Just an FYI” the two of you giggle quietly and you press your face into her neck to muffle the sound. Ana lets you stay there for a second before she eases your head back and her eyes move to your lips. Your mouth falls open in anticipation and you gently squeeze her thigh.
“Can I?” Ana breathes out.
“You know you can” is all it takes for Ana to dive right in and claim your lips. You softly gasp into the kiss, your senses heightened and utterly in love with the way she kisses you so passionately, like she’s been waiting for decades. It’s only for a second that you pull away to take a breath and then you’re back in, lips molding together and moving against each other in a fervent yet loving way, uncaring of the people around you.
“I’ve wanted to do this for so long.” Ana whispers against your lips while your fingers tangle in her hair.
“I’ve wanted you to do this for so long.”

Starting a New Streak (Leah Williamson x Reader)
Tumblr media
warnings: ⚠️swearing⚠️
a/n: I don’t think ive ever written a fic so fast and so emotional. i decided to write this now because the issue of the hate Leah is getting is really making me emotional so I want to get this fic out while im all high up on my emotions and love for Leah. Based off this request here
prompt: in which the reader and Leah have been best friends since they were 15 and are both secretly hiding feelings for each other that get revealed after the australia v england game.
11 years of knowing Leah. 11. Nine of those years you were withholding your feelings for the blonde. You had tried dating other people, other footballers, just others. But no one was Leah. No one was her.
You were all riding high on the Finalissima win going into the Australian friendly, you felt light and happy. 30 game winning streak. Let’s go England.
But everyone makes mistakes… right? You had made a fair few yourself, and you were especially good at beating yourself up about them. An own goal in the first Euros game had you crying in the changing room, even though it all worked out. A complete giveaway during an Arsenal v Chelsea game that lead to Manu having to make a bad tackle and get a red. The gunners lost that game 3-2. You felt as though it was your fault… and it was… but your teammates were by your side. And Leah didn’t leave you along for a minute, didn’t leave you a second to think that you were anything else than… well… human.
The lineup was interesting, Esme starting in defence with you, Jess and Leah instead of Leah, Lucy and you. You felt weird about that, but wanted to be happy for the young defender.
From kickoff, the lionesses were dominating. You had gotten a few shots off and were making good plays, so the fact that nothing was coming out of them angered you to no end. That was the first problem. The team wasn’t connecting. And then, as she always does, Sam Kerr happened.
A good ball was made from the australian defence. And then, it was Sam versus Leah.
Leah got to it first, but it just wasn’t enough. She tried her best to get her head on the ball to secure it into Mary’s hands, and she did. But it was missing that extra power.
The australian striker was fast, and incredibly talented. Kerr just needed a little chip over Mary, and she delivered.
Leah threw her head back in annoyance as Mary watched the ball go in the net from her knees. Nothing to be done.
You jogged up to her, putting your hands on Leah’s shoulder. "Look at me, Lee. It’s okay. It happens I should have been there to support you more. Team mistake," you said to her.
She nodded absentmindedly and apologized to Mary who clapped her on the back and told her to keep going.
Bur it wasn’t a team mistake. It was a Leah mistake. But Leah was part of the team, she was your skipper, your best friend, your teammate, your world. And so it was a team mistake.
You kept going. As a defender, you shockingly got a few opportunities on net, but you weren’t able to conceive a goal. "FUCK!" you yelled, throwing your head back in anger and sighing loudly as the ball you had just shot grazed the outside of the post. "It’s all good! We got this!" Georgia said, tapping you on the back and letting you jog back to your defensive role.
The first half ended 1-0.
You all walked back into the changing room, Sarina telling you to think of the game as goalless to take the pressure off. "Let’s capitalize on our opportunities girls!" Sarina said, clapping her hands and sending all of you off.
You slung your arm around Leah, holding her a little to close for friends. "Brush it off, love. Brush it off," you told her, kissing her cheek gently before parting with her as you got into the view of the cameras.
Time was a blur, it was like it was non existent. It passed, but you didn’t notice. All you could think was that opportunity after opportunity was being missed, and wasted, and you wanted to yell at yourself more than anything.
And then the 66th minute came.
You didn’t even notice who shot the ball. All you noticed was the deflection off of Leah’s arm, and that Mary went right as the ball went left. You heard the scream of joy, the kind of scream that only happened when a player scored their first goal for their country. You knew it well. You had let out that scream three times. Once for U-15, another for U-17, and the loudest one of all, for the senior team.
Leah looked like she was on the verge of tears and then and there you wished for nothing more than to wrap her in bubble wrap and protect her from the world. You were scared of what people would say.
You were scared of the bad fans. And you knew Leah was too.
The final whistle marked the end of an era. 30 games unbeaten. Gone.
Ouch.
"Leah!" you said, rushing up to her and trying to hug her as she walked into the tunnel. "Get away from me! I don’t need you telling me it’s not my fault, okay?! I don’t want you right now. Just let me be," she yelled.
You froze. Everyone heard. Lucy looked shocked. Keira looked uncomfortable. Sam looked hurt for you. And everyone else looked like they just wanted to run.
"Okay."
"Leah! I don’t want to do this but they want you for media," Sarina said. Leah looked broken at those words. "Tell them she’s not available. I’ll go," you said. "Wait- y/n. I’m-" Leah tried to apologize, her heart breaking as she processed the words she had said to you. "Don’t. Go," and with that, you walked away.
You shook hands with the interviewer and camera man. "Leah’s not available. I’ll be here instead. Can we do this quickly please?" you asked, not caring that you were already on live TV.
The crew nodded.
"How do you feel after this loss? Ending a streak, ending an era. What’s it like?" the woman asked. "I’m scared. Genuinely that’s the only feeling I can stomach right now. Obviously I’m aware that the disappointment and anger will settle in later but right now I’m just scared. Obviously mistakes were made. Yes, by Leah. The most obvious ones were but not only from her. From all of us. Um…" you sniffled, pinching your nose and biting your cheek. "Yeah. When you get to the level where everyone is watching you it’s great but it’s also scary. Loosing is scary because of what people say. I want to just… wrap Leah in bubble wrap because I’m so scared of what people will say about her online. She’s amazing and i’ve known her for forever. She’s led us to four trophies and a wonderful streak. But everything comes to an end. But i’m making it clear here and now that Leah’s talent is not ended. Our confidence hasn’t faltered," you admitted.
Never had you been so raw on love TV. There was no editing on live TV, no tweaking, no clipping, no editing. Just your words for everyone to hear.
"Is this a setback for the World Cup?" she asked.
"No. Not at all. I think this may be a blessing in disguise. Going into the world cup beaten humbles us. We understand that we are beatable. Tonight was easily my hardest night in an England shirt and I felt as though I wanted to scream the whole game but a setback? The Lionesses don’t have setbacks," you told her, and the world as a matter of fact. "One last thing. If you could say anything to the fans, what would it be?"
You took a second to think. "Thank you for standing with us through all our wins, all our trophies. The cups and awards and championships in our trophy cabinet are just as much yours as they are ours. I hope, that if you are a real fan, that you will stick by us through this loss. I hope you stand by us because we love you all very much. Also, any hate comments on my posts, and you’re blocked."
You took off your headphones, smiled gently at the interviewer and walked away.
The walk back to the changing room was silent other than the sound of your heart beating out of your chest. Had you said too much? Had your feelings for Leah taken over your words? Maybe. Probably.
You pushed open the door of the changing room and walked inside, finding the whole team sitting in silence, still in their kits.
They all looked up as you walked in, some of the younger girls who had played were red eye’d.
Their looks on you sent your heart into overdrive. You took a gasping, shaky breath as your throat closed and leaned your head against the wall, palms pressed to the cool tile as though if you pushed on the wall hard enough, it would take back the words you had said on live TV. "If you write hate comments i’ll block you? What the fuck was that." you thought.
Lucy and Mary were by your side quickly, concerned by your shaky sobs. "Shh. It’s okay. What is it?" Lucy said, gently grabbing you and letting your head rest on her shoulder as Mary rubbed your back. "The interview… I said too much. And Leah’s mad at me. And we- Im scared of what people will say about her. I’m in love with her," you said.
The last part was nothing but a whisper for only Mary and Lucy to hear. The two seniors looked into each others eyes, a silent demonstration of shock. "Where is Leah?" you asked, pulling away from Lucy and wiping your face with your sweaty, muddy, and grass covered jersey. "Washroom. Hasn’t come out in ten," Mary said.
You nodded and then walked deeper into the changing room towards the door connecting the guest locker room to the washroom.
You pushed open the door gently, seeing Leah sitting on the floor, her head in her hands, her body shaking with sobs.
"Leah…" you cried gently, tears steaming down your own cheeks again. She looked up quickly, her face more broke than you had ever seen it before. "I’m so sorry. I didn’t want to hurt you. I didn’t. I’m sorry," Leah cried, her voice trembling and getting caught in her throat. "It’s okay. It’s okay," you said, quickly heading over to her.
You let your body slip down the wall. You put your arms around Leah and she did the same to you. For the time your bodies pressed together, you didn’t care how the other stentched of sweat, and mud… and fear and pain and disappointment. You only cared about each other.
"Leah this couldn’t be worse timing but-"
"I’m in love with you," Leah said, cutting you off. Your eyes widened as you pulled away from her. "You cut me off," you said, not realizing you were in a little bit of shock. "What?" she said, sniffling. "You interrupted me! I was going to say. Leah. This couldn’t be worse timing but I am in love with you," you said.
It sunk in how stupid your words had been, considering Leah had just said the same thing. "Really?" she said. "Yes. And don’t watch the interview they made me do because it’s embarrassing and sad," you told her.
She let out a small laugh and leaned her forehead against yours. "30 games unbeaten streak broken," she said. Somehow, her breath smelled sweet. "Well we have another streak. 11 years of friendship. That’s a good streak. And I say we start another one," you told her. "Yeah?"
"Yeah? One minute of you being my girlfriend and… counting."

Teen Titans Masterpost And Reading Guide -
Tumblr media
This is mostly a passion project of mine about my favourite team in DC Comics The Titans ! The general consensus I have seen on this website is that their history is confusing and people don’t know where to start so …. This guide includes ALL ( worthwhile ) pieces of Titans Media .
Ok so this is heavily inspired by @bitimdrake ‘s guide so check that one too !
Just to preface this is all my opinion and you can really start wherever you feel like it if you want to ! Sound Good 👍🏻 Good
TEEN TITANS
Ok so before you begin the og TT series you should read
- Brave and The Bold ( 1955) #54 and #60 if you want to read right from the start chronologically!
The Original Team of the TEEN TITANS was a series that ran through the 60s beginning in 1966 - 1973 and having a comeback in 1976 .
The OG series consisted mostly Robin Wonder Girl Kid Flash and Aqualad with many a cameo from other teens.
You can either read the OG Series but its completely optional it’s pretty outdated and silly but it’s a fun ride even then . In my opinion its best to leave for after you have been endeared to the characters .
If you really enjoy the Silver Age Teen Titans there’s also Showcase #59 before Roy joins and a story in the 80 page Flash Giant ! And after reading issue #20 you can also read #83 of Brave and The Bold.
After #31 theres TBANB #94 and after #34 theres World Finest Comics #205 ( read at your own discretion - totally optional)
Aswell as BANTB #102 and #149
And the utterly delightful Teen Titans lost annual & A story ( worlds oldest teenagers ) in the 80 page Flash giant.
All optional ( they get really weird)
Alternatively just read TEEN TITANS : YEAR ONE .
Some Issues I recommend from the OG Series
- #1 #2 #12 #53 ( last issue )
\ The series continues on from 1966-1976 \
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NEW TEEN TITANS
NTT is arguably the seminal run and its best an absolute mustread . ( at it’s worst ….)
- DC PRESENTS #26 ( totally optional)
- THE NEW TEEN TITANS Vol.1
#1-40
- BEST OF DC #18 ( optional again.)
- Tales of The New Teen Titans ( miniseries #1-4 included in the NTT Omnis)
- read the 1st annual after issue #25
- By Issue 40 the series rebrands To TALES Of TEEN TITANS
This continues on from issues #41 to #58 it runs alongside NTT VOL.2 but is set 6 months before .
Read annual 3 as Part of Judas Contract !
- NEW TEEN TITANS VOL.2
#1-49
- TT Spotlight Miniseries !! ( SO GOOD SERIOUSLY)
- There’s also a drug awareness special at some point ( it’s its …. Certainly something)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NEW TITANS
By this point they remembered that “hey these guys aren’t teens anymore ” and thus renamed it to NEW TITANS . This series started off well enough and quickly devolved into arguably one of the worst runs EVER.
New Titans #81 is part of War Of The Gods and Annual 7 is part of Armageddon 2001 ( don’t bother ) annual 8 is part OF YET ANOTHER EVENT . Again don’t bother .
It’s pretty much highly recommend giving it up at #70 regardless .
-THE NEW TITANS
#50 - 100
ECTERA -
- running alongside NEW TITANS by 1992 was TEAM TITANS a series so awful I cannot recommend to you in clear conscience but if your a completetionist ( trust me I get it ) It’s there and Donna shows up alot !
- TITANS SELLOUT SPECIAL (1992)
NEW TITANS : MELTDOWN
The last decaying remains of NT walks on like a zombie on acid but by #100 all of the NTT crew is gone ( well most Mirage Donna as a Darkstar ect ) and leave to be replaced by an all new government sponsored Titans team lead by Roy .
- NEW TITANS
#0 / ZERO HOUR don’t worry about it/- 130
( IF YOU WANT CONTINUITY FOR KORI Showcase ‘94 #11 )
NT end’s with a whole 11 annuals
Ok so I am aware that they aren’t strictly Titans series BUT PLEASE TAKE a minute to read
The Arsenal Special!! Its a short single issue and BRILLIANT !! It informs a-lot of his character later on as well as of course the actual Arsenal Miniseries.
ALSO THE TEMPEST (1996) a absolute must read also informs basically everything about Garth and arguably his best story ever … just take a minute and read these if you want !! Before the Titans (1999)
TEEN TITANS (1996)
Ok so in the 90’s DC decided to start the TT from scratch ( huh see how long this’ll last )
This all new team was comprised of 4 half alien teens and a freshly deaged Atom. It didn’t last very long and while I am fond of it AGAIN you don’t HAVE TO read it
TEEN TITANS (1996)
#1-24
Also a few specials ! And 1 annual
Titans Beat #1
Impulse/Atom DoubleShot #1
Robin/Argent DoubleShot #1
Superboy/Risk DoubleShot #1
Supergirl/Prysm DoubleShot #1
New Year’s Evil : Dark Nemesis #1
Tumblr media
JLA/TITANS : THE TECHNIS IMPERATIVE #1-3
Absolute MUST-READ . Literally one of my favourite comics of all time . Also essential because it kickstarts a certain run..
TITANS (1999)
One of If not the best run on Titans ( don’t @ me ) It slowly loses momentum after #26 but I still generally LOVED it . Stellar A++ Titans content !!
( you can also read the Beast Boy #1-4 miniseries prequel . But uh unless you really love Bette it’s not worth it )
TITANS (1999)
#1-50
Also TITANS Secret Files and Origins !!! ( ♥️♥️♥️ )
After #14 you can read Titans/Legion Of SuperHeroes : Universe Ablaze (2000) crossover as well as #1-4 - Silver Age Teen Titans (2000) #1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOUNG JUSTICE
OK OK NOW IK THIS ISNT A TITANS OR TT RUN but this gen WILL eventually become TT 2003 ( 😒 ) and honestly ……
READ YJ 1998
It’s GREAT.
YJ/TITANS : GRADUATION DAY
Oh brother. Ok so I am pretty salty about this whole comic but it’s essential and has some good moments soo yeah read Graduation Day .
OUTSIDERS/TT SECRET FILES AND ORIGINS ♥️☝️ please read this after Graduation Day It’s heartbreaking and I love it !
TEEN TITANS 2003 - ( until OYL )
After the unfortunate events of graduation day the aforementioned YJ Gen ( - Anita and Greta 😞) and the OG NTT Crew ( Vic Kory Deaged Raven ) join to become …..
TEEN TITANS ( 2003)
( I have mixed opinions on this run some think it a masterpiece some think it awful I generally think it’s…. Fine ? Well “sigh” not fine but give it a go I guess ) I recommend #2-26
- #1-33
After #33 OYL hits
OUTSIDERS 2003 - ( until OYL )
Ok so this run isn’t really…. A titans run but it has fantastic Roy and Dick characterisation and KORY JOINS LATER AND SO TECHNICALLY-
#1-33
Read Annual 1 before #46
Don’t bother after #
POST - OYL TT 2003
Ok so I basically consider post OYL TT ‘03 to be a totally different team because… well it is . All of the NTT crew leave and are replaced by a handful of cameos and eventually like Rose Wilson and Kid Devil and because at this point half of the YJ gen is well…dead . It was pretty awful at this point though I find the character interactions endearing. This series remains like that until N52 .
They have crossovers with Red Robin aswell as Wonder Girl Vol.2
#33-100
OUTSIDERS/TT 2003 ECTERA
- DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES READ TERROR TITANS . Unless you really love Rose..( like me..)
- RETURN OF DONNA TROY ♥️♥️♥️ !!!! Excellent MUST READ !!!!
- TEEN TITANS : COLD CASE - seriously don’t read this if you don’t have too .
- TEEN TITANS : Spotlight on Wondergirl - awful . Seeing a pattern ?
THEN - TITANS EAST SPECIAL !!
DC SPECIAL CYBORG #1-6 ( optional)
TITANS (2008)
After all the bullshit THEY ARE BACK TOGETHER AGAIN YAY !!!! To bad there’s so much shit going on OUTSIDE of the Titans that ends up fucking over the characters. E.G Bruce dying so Dick has to go be Batman and …. Hell . Fucking Rise Of Arsenal. If you know what happens in that book well yk that Roy ends up relapsing and going down a much darker mindset .
Series swings between being really good and being a mischaracterising MESS.
TITANS ( 2008 )
#1-23
By Titans #12 the Deathtrap crossover starts it goes like this
TITANS #12
Vigilante #5
Teen Titans #70
TITANS #13
Vigilante #6
But Amanda why did you put it’s end at 23 when Ik for a fact that goes on for #38 issues ????
Oh boy .
Titans : Villains For Hire Special #1 before #24
TITANS ( 2008 ) : VILLAINS FOR HIRE
So at issue 23 DC had the genius idea of taking the Titans and …. Turning them into a mercenary and hitman group lead by Deathstroke himself ( why ? I wish I fucking knew.) Filled out with hitman and villains and …. Roy who was now really dark and #edgy . Whatever It was bad and a wannabe secret six .
#23-38
However they’re was almost light at the end of the tunnel …. Jericho ( Joey Wilson yes he IS ALIVE ) seemed to have plans to assemble a new TITANS team and reunite their family and Roy well it seemed he was on a path to redemption he was almost there close to moving to recovery and healing and he could do it with—
N52 . POST FLASHPOINT TITANS.
The N52 was bad isnt a particularly outrageous statement but IT WAS EXTREMELY fucking bad in relation to the Titans . Bluntly put None of it ever happened and the only titans ( TEEN TITANS ACTUALLY) that had ever existed were the TT2003 guys . Just them. Fab Five never existed. NTT never existed. And all of the other og TT guys were …… WALLY never existed. Donna was a one note villain Garth never existed Dick was . There I guess.. ROY was a dumbed down alcoholic with no purpose other than to gawk at how cool and oh and ahh at Jason Todd . ( KORY …… truly just awful what happened to her )
You can read the TEEN TITANS N52 . I guess .
They have 2 series . Read at your own peril they’re better if you pretend that the characters aren’t supposed to be … like the characters that they are . ( scott lobbell shouldn’t of been allowed to touch a pen )
REBIRTH
- TITANS HUNT ! - WALLY IS BACK
-TITANS VOL.3 is exactly what I wanted in the first half and then falls on it’s ass and burns like a trash fire . recommend stopping at #20
TITANS VOL. 3
#1-40
Justice League : No Justice- happens around this time and it was trying to create a new status quo ( uh-huh DC AGAIN ..) soo
Teen Titans Special #1 before
TEEN TITANS VOL.3
( also as your reading this read #54-55 for context in TT #27 )
“Yeah sure put the 11 year old in charge ”
Do not read this comic . And if you do ? THAT IS NOT DAMIAN . The series starts with Damian leading alot of the OG NTT guys like Kory and Vic + Ace and then it later just becomes Damian + Emiko + Ace and a couple other guys like Crush .
Drowned Earth happens ( not important) but it happens at #28 . And they have a crossover with Deathstroke in
TEEN TITANS / DEATHSTROKE : Terminus Agenda ( it’s vol ) optional though
But
- TITANS : Burning Rage
Slots in at this point so !!
A more obscure pick but no half bad
- #1-7
- Titans Academy
Haven’t actually read this one . Art looks gorgeous though
AND …
It leads too
- TITANS United
And
- TITANS : BLOODPACT
I love both of these Bloodpact in particular and it gives me Dickkory back aswell !! Good story and stellar art !!
NIGHTWING #100 - 104 to explain what is going on in …
- TITANS BY TOM TAYLOR ( Ongoing )
Also BEAST WORLD I guess 🤷‍♀️
Mid at BEST . #1-4
- Tales Of The Titans
A miniseries but so far the best Titans content we have gotten IN A WHILE . ♥️ ( sorta )
#1-4
ECTERA -
- NTT GAMES !
Fantastic and stellar art an standalone (?) dubiously canon graphic novel by Marv Wolfman and George Perez !
- TITANS AND NTT CONVERGENCE
- worthwhile and exactly what’s on the tin ! Love these gave a happy ending to the Post Crisis universe !
- Teen Titans WORLDS FINEST
- wonderful art by Dan Mora . Story is fine
- DC PRESENTS THE UNCANNY X-MEN AND NTT CROSSOVER.
SOOOOO GOOODD
- TITANS : Paper Scissors Stone
Okok elseworlds Titans book but I remember liked it !
OTHER MEDIA -
- TEEN TITANS ( 2003 THE TV SHOW )
A solid adaptation of … most of the characters please don’t go into this show and come out expecting the same from the comics . Did a lot of good for Terra’s character and influences ALOT of public perception. Just … don’t be annoying about the comics after watching this .
- TEEN TITANS GO
YES IK IK BUT ITS AN ADAPTATION AS WELL DONT JUMP ME
- TITANS ( TV SHOW)
….I wouldn’t recommend this show too anyone EXCEPT Titans fans who want more content of the team it’s it’s an experience. ( FUCK YOU FOR DOING THAT TO DONNA )
SO YEAH . Feel free to question me if I have forgotten any I don’t have spectacular memory lol
Happy reading ! !

I have a request for Leah Williamson x reader. Leah gets hurt during a game and she has to go to the hospital, and there she gets really strong medication so she gets all loopy and high and says a bunch out of line and funny random stuff. Reader records her and afterwards she shows her the video and tease her a bit. All love ofc :)
High (Leah Williamson x Reader)
Tumblr media
The game was going great so far, Arsenal is up by 2-0 with only 10 minutes left against Liverpool. They are currently advancing towards your goal but before any major chance can be created Leah managed to take back possession of the ball.
Not a second after she sent the ball upfield, her scream could be heard across the field, the two attackers both tried to win the ball back for Liverpool and ended up running into the defender at the same time, smashing her in between them.
Running over to her, you lean down to check on her, “What hurts?”, Leah lets out a strangled breath, replying, “My side, it hurts a lot.”. Before you can offer any comforting words, you are being pushed back by the team's medics, “We need some space.”. You take a step back to give them their needed space but still hover around, wanting to know what’s going on with your girlfriend.
“Alright it’s better if we get you to the hospital, I can’t tell if your ribs are broken or just badly bruised.”, you hear one of the medics say to your girlfriend, stepping closer to them you speak up worried, “Hospital?”, one of the medics turns to you, “Yes, we gotta make sure it’s not broken.”.
Out of the corner of your eye you can see the stretcher being brought onto the field, knowing that you won’t be able to accompany your girlfriend to the hospital immediately, you reach out for her hand, “I will be there as soon as possible okay?”, Leah silently nods, you press a short kiss to her hand before you watch her being taken off the field.
Resuming the game, you try your best to stay focused on it but your mind always wanders back to your girlfriend, hoping that it’s nothing serious and wishing that you could be there right now. So as soon as the whistle blows, announcing the end of the game, you run into the locker room quickly grabbing yours and Leah bags before making your way to your car.
Arriving at the hospital, you make your way to the front, where you are greeted by the lady working there, “Hello, I’m looking for my girlfriend Leah Williamson? She must have been brought in not too long ago.”, she types something into her computer before, “She is in room 106, it’s right down the hall.”, she says, pointing down said hall, “Thank you.”.
Walking down the hall you stop in front of the door, knocking softly before opening the door and making your way in, “Hey.”, you whisper. Leah turns her head at the sound of your voice, “Heeeey!”, the defender drags out, sounding a bit loopy, “I missed you!.”, she adds shortly after with a pout on her face.
Getting closer to the hospital bed she was laying on, you reply to her, “I missed you too.”, your words make a goofy grin spread across your girlfriend's face , making you chuckle, “Alright, how high is your dosage of painkillers and more importantly how are you?”.
“I haven’t taken any painkillers and it’s just a few broken ribs but I can’t feel any pain!”, she explains, her words coming out a bit sloppy while her hands make wild gestures. “No painkillers?”, you question her, “Nope. They just put some juice into my IV before you came.”. Before you can say anything, she follows up, ”My doctor is Ron Weasley from Harry Potter you know?”
You don’t reply immediately, needing a moment to process the random words that just left her mouth. Deciding that this could be a funny moment to remember and show to her later, you pull out your phone, pressing on the camera app and start recording, ”Who is your doctor?”, you ask her, wanting to have her answer on video.
“Ron Weasley!", she repeats herself while you try to suppress your laugh. “You know, I think I would be a good witch.”, you let out a hum at her words, “Would you?”.
Leah lazily nods her head, before reaching for a pen that lays on the night table next to her bed, ”Look.”, making sure you are looking at her, she randomly starts to wave her arm around while muttering random magic spells from the movie. After a moment her movements come to a sudden stop, pointing the pen in her hand at you, “Accio.”.
“Accio?”, you ask her, “I’m making you come for me.”, she replies with a grin on her face before letting her arm drop back to the bed. You start blushing at her words, clearing your throat after a moment, “You do know that this is not the way the spell works, right?”. The defender shrugs her shoulders in response, winking, “Would be no fun anyway.”.
After a few seconds of silence, the injured woman speaks up again, ”Do you know that Avocados are fruit and not a vegetable?”, “They are?”, your question causing her to nod her head rather quickly, “Yes! They count as berries.”, she states proudly, making you grin at her, “That is interesting.”.
“You know what else is interesting? That I can make things disappear.”, she says in a serious tone, “Look, I’m making the pen disappear.”, showing you the pen that is still in her hand before throwing it through the room, “Leah!”, you exclaim, moving to pick the pen up from where it landed to put it back. “It disappeared for a moment didn’t it?”, she questions with a light smirk on her face.
“You are an idiot.”, you tell her, “I know! But I’m your idiot.”, she replies, trying to wink but ends up blinking instead.
She continues talking about random stuff but at one point you could tell that the medication is catching up with her as her words get slower and her eyes stay shut for longer than usual. But before she can fall asleep, the door opens, followed by the doctor stepping in and before you can stop yourself the words fall from your lips, “Yep, red hair, definitely a Weasley.”.
“See! I told you!”.
___
After the painkillers had mostly worn off, Leah was allowed to leave but after taking her home and making her something to eat it didn’t take her long before being out like a light once more.
The morning after, you two are sitting on the couch, having finished breakfast not too long ago, when you remember that you took a video of her yesterday, “I might have taken a video of you yesterday, want to see it?”
“Really? You took a video of me while high?”, she asks you while rolling her eyes, “Show me.”.
Sitting closer to her, so you could both watch the video on the small display, you press play. “Ron Weasley? Why did I say that?”, she mumbles to herself, continuing watching, her face turns bright red when the ‘Accio’ moment replays. “Loopy Leah is still a flirt, who would have known.”, you speak up, the defender covering her face in embarrassment, mumbling into her hands, “Oh god.”.
“I’m sure that was the last thing on your mind.”, you tease, receiving a light shove from the woman next to you, “Just continue the video.”, she says trying to pretend that the words have no effect on her but the now darker shade of red on her face lets you know that your attempt at teasing her was successful.
Doing as she says, you play press once again before pausing once more, “Where did you even get that fact from?”, you ask her after having watched the part of her Avocado fact. Leah clears her throat, “One of the girls once said that random facts might impress people, so I learned some after you arrived on the team.”, she admits, “Well it did kind of impress me.”, you answer her, sending her a soft smile, which she returns.
“I really threw that pen across the room huh?”, she says but before you can answer the video continues to run to the moment, where the doctor comes in, “Oh my god, don’t tell me we really called him a Weasley? Is this why he was so annoyed when giving us my papers so I could leave?”, you shrug your shoulders at her, “Maybe? But look at his reaction!”, you can’t help but laugh when the video ends with his confused and slightly offended face frozen on your screen.
Your girlfriend sends you a look but it doesn’t take her long before she starts laughing too but her laughter turns into a pained groan almost immediately, “Stop making me laugh, you know my ribs hurt, you idiot.”, she says, shoving you once more.
“Excuse me? I’m your Idiot.”, you say referencing back to when she said that in the video, “Each other's idiots then huh?”, Leah whispers, pulling you a bit closer to her before pressing her lips to yours.

Who is Roy Harper? - A Reading Guide
Tumblr media
Roy Harper is a DC Comics legacy character introduced in the Golden Age as the protégé/son of Green Arrow (Oliver Queen). Roy was the original Speedy and had an extremely close relationship with his adoptive father Oliver Queen throughout the Golden and Silver Ages. In 1971, DC released the "Snowbirds Don't Fly" storyline in response to Nixon's announced War on Drugs. This storyline was a PSA designed to show what not to do when a loved one (particularly a young adult child) is struggling with addiction. This story would change the trajectory of Roy's story and cemented his role as a recovered addict, a part of his character that has unfortunately come to be his defining quality rather than being part of his larger story. Roy is a single father to Lian Harper (his daughter with the assassin Jade Nguyen/Cheshire), and has a sibling bond with family members Connor Hawke, Mia Dearden, and Emiko Queen. Roy's origins have always been connected to America's Indigenous Peoples and later comics have cemented their role in his life with his having been adopted by the Diné/Navajo as a young child before being adopted by Ollie in his teenaged years. Roy has had multiple mantles over the years, from Speedy, to Arsenal, to joining the Justice League of America as Red Arrow - but in every iteration is he the very image of a hero.
Reading list (with totally legal links) under the cut!
This reading list begins in the Golden Age and will take you through Pre-52 comics, and then end with the Green Arrow 80th Anniversary Super Spectacular! New 52 is left out because that is not Roy Harper, and Rebirth and more current comics are being left out for a lot of reasons that I won't list here.
If multiple issues are listed for one run at a time, only the first issue will be linked, the assumption is that you will be able to navigate to the following issues from there.
Golden Age:
More Fun Comics #78, 81-82, 89, 91-92
World's Finest Comics #7, 57, 70
Adventure Comics #121, 133, 137, 151, 155, 164, 166, 179, 184, 189, 196
Silver Age and Beyond:
Adventure Comics #233
World's Finest Comics #88
Adventure Comics #246, 256, 260-263
Teen Titans Vol 1 #4, 11, 19-43
The next story on this list is "Snowbirds Don't Fly" - it is HEAVILY RECOMMENDED to read the above stories BEFORE reading Snowbirds as they should be considered required context for the storyline as they are the context the story is building from. Don't be a Judd Winick- do your reading kids.
Green Lantern Vol 2 #85-86
Action Comics #436
Teen Titans Vol 1 #44-52
Green Lantern Vol 2 #100
Teen Titans Vol 1 #53
World's Finest Vol 1 #251
Best of DC #18
New Teen Titans Vol 1 #27, 29-32
Tales of the Teen Titans #50
New Teen Titans Vol 2 #19-21
Action Comics Vol 1 #613-618, 627-634, 636-640
Secret Origins Vol 2 #38
New Titans Vol 1 #60-69, 97
Green Arrow Vol 2 #75
New Titans Vol 1 #99-114
Showcase '94 #7
New Titans Vol 1 #0, 115-130, Annual #11
Green Arrow Vol 2 #97-101 * these issues should be read with the understanding that the writer, Chuck Dixon, is a vocal hater of Oliver Queen and did his best to ruin the character's image before and during the character's death as soon as he took over the run
Showcase '95 #8
Batman + Arsenal #1
JLA/Titans Vol 1 #1-3
Arsenal #1-4
The Titans Vol 1 #1-50 Annual #1
Green Arrow Vol 3 #1-15*, 16-21 - *(most Roy centered issues are 1, 5-6, and 8-9)

In the refurbished gym at Aston Villa’s training ground, players are regularly put through their paces, spend time building up their strength and flexibility and develop the team bond that is such a key part of their incredible current form.
Another regular sight in the gym has been head coach Unai Emery putting in the miles on the treadmill. But unlike most people, who listen to music or a podcast while working out, the man behind one of the biggest turnarounds in recent Premier League history uses the time to watch recordings of their upcoming opponents’ games.
He’s looking for patterns, for holes, for weaknesses for Villa to exploit.
Paywall jump under the ✂️🫡
Emery then relays his findings and key messages to the players in lengthy video analysis sessions, which have been known to run up to an hour and fifteen minutes.
Focusing on and improving the small details has been the underlying theme of the 13 months since Emery’s appointment, with Villa now a club transformed. Beating champions Manchester City and their title rivals Arsenal back-to-back in the space of four days this week is a period that rubber-stamps their progress.
This is how Villa turned their form and fortunes around, including how:
Emery warned players to never make the same mistakes after previous Arsenal defeat
He compiled a dossier on each player before joining, calling on his backroom staff to put together clips
Players noted a transformation between training under previous boss Steven Gerrard and Emery
The squad were pushed through pain barriers in pre-season
A ‘best-in-class’ mentality has emerged throughout the club
Co-owner Nassef Sawiris was recently pitchside and clapped every player off the pitch
Emery takes training ground staff out for meals
Villa’s overall infrastructure has been improved.
Seconds away from becoming the only manager in Villa’s 149-year history to win 15 successive home league games, Emery raised both hands in the air and outwards, cranking the crowd’s volume even higher.
It was apt that Villa crossed into unprecedented territory against Arsenal. Ten months ago, the Gunners were the previous Premier League visitors to leave the stadium with three points.
Since then, West Midlands walls have been fortified. The successive 1-0 victories inside four days over the sides to finish first (City) and second (Arsenal) in the 2022-23 Premier League and are likely to contest the title again this season — described as “the most difficult week” by Emery — were taxing, but ultimately ended in glory.
Fortress Villa Park has proven the symbol of the club’s remarkable resurgence, establishing them as one of the Premier League’s best and most effectively-run football clubs.
The improvement from the final days of predecessor Gerrard — where only goal difference kept them out of the top flight’s relegation places — is as drastic as it is exceptional, with Villa now firmly in the hunt for a Champions League spot next season and perhaps even more, with Pep Guardiola endorsing their title credentials only last week.
Emery regarded February’s 4-2 home defeat against Arsenal as a turning point. Irrespective of what he said publicly, that showdown with his old club was one he was desperate to win. So he was consequently infuriated with his side’s manner of collapse after the scores were level until the final minutes. Post-match and across several meetings, he told his players, in no uncertain terms, that such errors could not be repeated.
Emery remarked that they had kicked the ball long on too many occasions, with his defensive players continuing to clear to safety, as opposed to retaining possession and stamping their authority on the game. He preached that seizing control would lead to the concession of fewer goals. Even after the wins against City and Arsenal this week, Emery recalled that painful loss to the latter, unprompted, in his press conferences.
“The players are more united with each other, this is their primary strength,” says one source close to the dressing room who, like others in this piece, spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships.
That match almost 10 months ago was the last time Villa lost at home, and marked the start of a shift in mentality. Their performance against City on Wednesday was one for the ages and underlined just how far many of those same players who faced Arsenal in February have come in terms of composure, organisation and general quality.
Final preparations for City’s visit had been different to the usual routines.
Emery wanted his players to train on the morning of the game, keen to drill extra detail. The session he conducted was low-intensity, chiefly working on various patterns of play and team shape, ensuring the starting XI knew how to exploit the areas Emery’s analysis had told him City were vulnerable in.
A fluid, spinning midfield four overloaded City in central areas and provided additional passing lanes when playing out from the back. This proved essential in victory and highlighted the forensic lengths Emery and his coaching staff go to.
Before his official switch from La Liga side Villarreal late last October, Emery compiled detailed dossiers of each player from his home in Spain. He called on the backroom staff who would be joining him in England to put together footage of previous games and clips of individual players. He swiftly recognised the blindspots in the team he was inheriting from Gerrard, with defence a particular issue — Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash were all concerns.
Elsewhere, Emery knew his methodology would enable specific plans for his attackers, but felt more firepower was needed. Contrary to reports regarding Moussa Diaby being his top target, Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams was the player Emery initially wanted.
“With Gerrard, training was just training,” says a source close to a Villa player. “But Emery is so detailed, as he was at Arsenal. He coached them (the players) and continues to coach them in every facet of football every single day, and regularly reinforces good habits on the training ground — until the point where it starts working on the pitch. The players then believe in his methods and start doing exactly what he’s asking them to do every game — confidence and belief then kick in — and this is the result.”
This included the development of first-choice centre-backs Mings and Konsa. Emery wanted both to become better on the ball and protect their zones defensively. Through detailed coaching in what Emery expected from the pair in their parts of the pitch, greater clarity and confidence have been provided.
Players noted an immediate contrast in training between Gerrard and Emery, with the content of sessions transformed overnight. It tied in with the notion that there was a completely different level of leadership between the two coaches — Emery knew exactly what he wanted, while Gerrard, in comparison, was seen to be looking for a “moment of magic” from an individual player.
Gerrard sat, a broken man, alongside assistant Gary McAllister towards the end of a 3-0 defeat away to Fulham in October last year, with neither man, realising they had reached the end at Villa, offering little direction to the players. The lack of communication became so bad that striker Ollie Watkins — usually a reserved, quiet character — took it upon himself to organise a huddle on the Craven Cottage pitch in a bid to restore some semblance of order.
By contrast, Emery is a constant presence up on the touchline, instructing his team through every passage of play. Figures close to Villa say it is a small window into his all-consuming personality, where those in his inner circle describe him as “obsessive” in wanting to extract each possible marginal gain.
In his early days at Villa, Emery would work on at Bodymoor Heath, Villa’s training ground, until as late as 10pm. His close friend, and now the club’s director of football, Damian Vidagany accompanied him and joked how their nocturnal habits would drive security staff, desperately hoping for sleep, to despair. While those hours have now slightly reduced (Emery tends to work 7am-7pm these days, but is prone to staying later to study for the next game) his intensity has not.
Emery’s exhaustive methods meant getting results quickly was important in terms of getting senior players onside. Players subsequently saw purpose in his prolonged preparations and have continued to adhere to his plans. “He’s naturally confident but he loves Emery,” said a source close to one key player. “The coach always asks him never to be afraid to play.”
The first pre-season under Emery this summer was energy-sapping. Lots of travel (including a three-game U.S. tour) with lots of warm-up matches afforded little opportunity for downtime and pushed players, in terms of physical exertion, far more than they experienced in their one pre-season under Gerrard. There were aches and pains before the final friendly away to another of Emery’s former Spanish clubs Valencia but, among players and staff, there remained total buy-in.
Pushing through physical barriers was illustrated once more in Emery opting to go with an unchanged side on Saturday, less than 72 hours after the final whistle against City. “I was thinking about changing the starting XI,” he said, “but yesterday every player said they were perfect to play.”
Emery wanted to build a best-in-class mentality throughout the club. Senior figures involved in non-related footballing matters at Villa say other aspects are having to play catch-up in matching the progress shown under Emery’s leadership. This was also reflected in Villa’s recruitment, where Emery and Vidagany made concerted efforts not to be content with signing “second-rate” players for the sake of it.
In January, Emery’s first window with the club, Villa wanted to give him one new player and sanctioned the Spaniard’s priority target — experienced Real Betis full-back Alex Moreno. With Emery having no prior knowledge of Jhon Duran and despite Villa being far down the line towards his signing from MLS side Chicago Fire — a deal pushed by their then sporting director Johan Lange — the transfer was only finalised once he’d watched footage of the teenage forward and agreed there was potential that could be refined under his coaching.
Emery’s sacking from Arsenal in November 2019 hurt him deeply, given it was a development he did not see coming. He felt blindsided by the collapse of faith in his project after only 18 months.
Therefore, in his second crack at the Premier League, Emery intended to build a structure around him that was robust enough to withstand dips in form and, more significantly, to forge the club he joined in his image. Both he and Vidagany share the viewpoint that a settled environment is more important than having money to spend.
Co-owners Sawiris and Wes Edens were enthused by Project Emery and wanted to deliver a supportive network. And having watched him guide Villa from the relegation candidates he inherited to Europa Conference League qualifiers in less than a full season, they gave Emery greater autonomy in bringing aboard more Spanish-speaking staff, including president of football operations Monchi.
On Saturday, Emery thanked Edens and Sawiris for their contributions to Villa’s historic run of home form.
The new coach’s influence became increasingly tangible in recruitment and contracts, where he pushed a new deal for Mings, having been won over by the England international after his early reservations. This was the first sign of chief executive Christian Purslow becoming sidelined, and he left the club in the summer.
Similarly, Lange moved away from the day-to-day running of the club to assist the owners in their plans to build a multi-club stable before leaving Villa to join fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in October. Although he helped to develop Villa following his appointment in the summer of 2020, current staff are so confident in Emery’s project and their standing that Lange’s exit has not been a cause for concern.
Before Emery, neither of Edens and Sawiris attended many Villa fixtures. This changed, however, because of their extremely strong affection for him and because they see a team who are winning. After a recent match, Sawiris was pitchside and clapped every player off the pitch and during the November international break, Emery, Vidagany and Monchi attended a Milwaukee Bucks game, the NBA basketball team co-owned by Edens.
In their desire to give Emery what he wants, Edens and Sawiris’ holding company, V Sports, announced a partnership with lower-league Spanish club Real Union last month. In June, Emery and his brother, Igor, acquired a controlling stake in the club from their native Basque region, who their grandfather and father both played for. Strengthening ties improves Real Union’s footballing set-up, with Villa now in a position to share ideas, including coaching and data — something that naturally appealed to Emery.
Even though there are concerns externally as to whether Villa’s owners are giving too much power to Emery and his Spanish appointments, their unwavering view is that he will succeed and will not be leaving.
“You don’t know how lucky Aston Villa are to have these owners,” said Vidagany. “Coming from a traditional club in Spain to Aston Villa, which is self-proud and has a very big history, the owners understand. This is not easy because the interest of investors sometimes is bigger than the understanding of the club.
“What we found here are owners who are committed financially and embrace Villa’s heritage. We knew from the first moment we were not going to be Manchester City or Manchester United, but we knew that if we are professional and explain the plan, the owners will be committed to the plan.”
One of the first phone calls Emery made before joining Villa was to Vidagany, who initially came with him as his personal assistant. Vidagany is tasked with handling the aspects of management away from the training pitch, connecting multiple departments at the club and ensuring alignment throughout. After the subsequent arrival of former Sevilla colleague Monchi, he and Vidagany take care of transfer negotiations and act as sounding boards for any queries.
Vidagany is a transparent and frank communicator in his dealings with players and agents, informing them via email and in meetings if they should seek another club. This summer, he told certain players they could leave provided they came to Villa with a buyer, outlining the sort of fees the club were looking for in each case.
Emery, Vidagany and Monchi have formed a ‘triangle of power’, and are charged with making the key football-related decisions. They have a close relationship, eating breakfast together and working from a shared office that is split into three rooms. The trio travel to games together on the team coach and although Emery will not make such statements publicly, there is a belief between the club’s three main decision-makers that Villa can be contenders, even if there is a disparity in resources between them and the domestic elite.
Emery has hired several Spanish-speaking staff whom he trusts implicitly, including assistant Pako Ayestaran, who had worked in the Premier League before, under Rafa Benitez at Liverpool from 2004-07 — when they won the Champions League. Ayestaran’s appointment is being regarded as one of Emery’s shrewdest decisions, with his experience adding an alternative voice to other trusted assistants.
Another relied-upon staff member is goalkeeping coach Javi Garcia. While first-choice ’keeper Emiliano Martinez had a close relationship with the role’s previous occupant Neil Cutler, it is understood he is working with Garcia even more. Martinez invited Garcia to the recent Ballon D’or ceremony where he was named the world’s best goalkeeper. Garcia is open to using different technologies and data to vary training and achieve marginal gains in Martinez’s shot-stopping and distribution.
Emery likes to take staff who work at the Bodymoor Heath training ground out for lunch and dinner, which has helped to foster a spirit of unity at the team’s day-to-day home on the northern outskirts of Birmingham.
The support network away from the training pitch has also been crucial in the club providing a stable base for Emery.
Phil Roscoe, who leads the player care department, is well-liked among the squad and their families and is available to help at any hour. Sofia Allen, Villa’s player care officer, speaks multiple languages and has helped new signings from overseas settle in. Diego Carlos, for instance, knew little English when he joined from Sevilla under Gerrard in the 2022 pre-season. The Brazilian centre-back then sustained a significant injury (a ruptured Achilles tendon) in just his second appearance for the club in the August, while having to help his family settle after the move from Spain and find schools for his children. But Villa were on hand to help and subsequently eased the transition.
There is a sense among senior contacts that Villa, in regards to infrastructure, have seriously got their act together in the past year, coinciding with Emery’s arrival. The club now boast a refurbished, state-of-the-art training facility, have an operational inner-city academy complex — though it’s not yet open to the public — and are pressing ahead with plans to increase Villa Park’s 42,000 capacity to 50,000.
Such growth might have not been quite as swift if Villa had been unable to offer the level of stability given to Emery, with observers close to the situation pointing to the current dysfunction elsewhere in the Premier League at Chelsea and Manchester United.
The players were given two days off in the afterglow of their record 15th straight home league win.
That historic feat is another sign of new ground being broken and of the progress being made under Emery and throughout the club.

Match Review: Manchester United Women 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion Women
At this point, we might as well just say Nikita Parris rather than United. The girl keeps scoring 😂
Tumblr media
For all my criticism of Mark Skinner, the decision to move Parris central and keep Geyse out wide right is paying dividends - with the Liverpudlian doing her best for United and continuing a hot streak of form.
Two goals from the forward in the 9th and 64th minute gave United the win at Leigh Sports Village against a tricky Brighton side who, whilst lacking the same goal threat, still managed to test Mary Earps on a few occasions with difficult stops.
Tumblr media
The win keeps United in touching distance of Arsenal in third, and Skinner will need to keep the wins coming in if we're to stay in any sort of Champions League position contest. A title race seems too far from here, especially with Chelsea so resolute. Sam Kerr missing hasn't dulled their potency at all, though perhaps Emma Hayes' departure has them all fired up for a big send off. It's a common motivator...
United travel to Eastleigh next Saturday to face Southampton in the FA Cup, but then it's an away visit to the Emirates on the 17th to face off with Arsenal - a must-win for United.

cute that you think frankie coming back is going to solve a structural problem. we have been playing badly for a long time, even with frenkie, but moments of individual brilliance saves us. the fact is that xavi makes tactical decisions that make no sense, anyone can see that the high 8s don’t work, that lewy should stay inside the box instead of roaming around the field, that playing romeu, alonso and a few others is giving up before the match starts
That’s your opinion. We’ve been playing without our best midfielders for 2 months, 2 of our attackers are just coming back from month long injuries and most of our players haven’t been rested enough but our bench is either over 30 without proper game rhythm (not played consistently) or under 20 (very lil experience) so obviously, besides that in the last two games we seem creatively stuck, lack of intensity and the game plan maybe wasn’t the best, I understand your pessimism but we have like 3-4 players that started 2.5 months ago with the team and haven’t had a consistent 11 that play with each other enough to know and feel comfortable with each other,I think, since we started bc of injuries and such. And yea, Xavi is a young coach (went from 1st division in Qatar for 2 years top, payed them 2 millions out if his pocket knowing he wasn’t Laporta’s first choice, to come one of the if the most difficult club to coach as a rookie coach in first division Europe) that makes mistakes, but he also came to a broke club that has been trying to build itself up again with a good team mainly of really really homegrown young cracks, or experienced vets that come for free after being free agents. We haven’t had a core group that has played 3-4 years with each other like Man City, Arsenal, Bayern, Ac Milan etc. Who are left from the starting 11 back in 21-22? Pedri? Gavi? Araujo? Ferrán? FDJ? That’s it? That’s it. And Pedri and Araujo get injured frequently.
This was always gonna be a long project. The fact that the palaca$ existed and we could buy some decent players like Lewy, Raphinha and Jules last year was a miracle and why we won La Liga and Supercopa, if not that would have been close to imposible. We spent 4 million this summer transfer and did fucking miracles. People forget where we are coming from. The trophies came earlier than they should have, really. Look at other team rebuilding. Arsenal? It has taken them 3 years to get where they are now, how many trophies? Girona has gotten where they are bc Mitchel has been there since 2021 with a main core of players and really smart buys/loans from really good scouting (and City group money), how many trophies?. This week was official the second anniversary of Xavi, who came mid season. A total mid-idiot-coach with no tactical skills would have not gotten a 9th place team to 2nd and on the way trashed 0-4 at Bernabeu the team that ended up being Champions of Europe that year. He obv has been experimenting more this year bc he has different players, lots of new ones between new transfers and kids from La Masia that came up and to makeup for injuries. We have won and tied with 5-6 injured players at a time, you know how hard that is? I think people are crazy.
Do I think both the team and staff need to reset? Yea. Wake up and shake it off? Yea? Were the last two games a disgrace? Yes. Should Xavi be sacked? No. Who the fuck is gonna come and coach us anyway? All the options are worse than Xavi. If we push him away, we’re gonna regret it like we did with Lucho. Calma.
We had a bad batch last season too Jan/February with injuries too, and fucking up in Europa, this shit happens. We still won trophies.

Wildest Dreams ・Leah Williamson
Tumblr media
The story doesn't follow the exact happenings of the Euros but it's pretty much the same, though doesn't go too much into detail anyways.
Part 1 I Promised
Part 3 My Baby Sister
This is part 2.
Word count: 2,1k
A comfort person, a person that makes someone feel less worried, upset, frightened.
You were Leah’s comfort person and everyone knew it, your club teammates, the lionesses, hell, even the fans saw it.
The only person that hasn’t yet realized it was Leah. All she knew was that you made her feel happy and safe and that she liked being close to you.
The first time your club team noticed just how deep the connection was between the two of you was during a match, Arsenal vs Tottenham.
It had been a particularly hard match with a lot of aggression shown from both teams and your team walked off the pitch at halftime with a 0-1 to the opposing team.Everyone was frustrated at their lack of performance and as you enter the locker room you look around taking in your teammates’ expressions.
You sigh as you spot your best friend hunched over in her seat angrily untying and retying her cleats. Leah could feel your presence before you had even placed your hand on her thigh, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
She immediately turns to you and her hard face immediately crumbles as she allows herself to be open with you.
“Hey come on, we still have another 45 minutes to go. Nothing is decided yet.” you try to cheer her up a bit, it seemingly is not working as she frowns.
“I already feel like I’ve let down the team, imagine me on the pitch for the second half.” she sighs heavily, shoulders slumping as she stares in front of her. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Well I do. You’re gonna get yourself together, we all are, and we’re gonna go out there and show them what a true gooner is made of!” you said turning to the rest of your teammates by the end of your sentence who all nod and let out encouraging shouts of their own. You turn back at Leah who now holds a determined look on her face. Standing up you pull her up with you and pat her bottom as you walk through the tunnel, ready for the game to continue.
The second the final whistle blows you feel someone collide with your back before jumping on it, arms wrapping around your neck as they giggled happily, their blonde hair falling into your face. You smile up at Leah as the rest of your team joins the group hug.
“I told you you could do it.”
“We did it.” she corrects you with a cheeky smile.
You felt a heavy sense of pride flood your body when you read over the England Lionesses squad call up as you spotted your own name. You’ve always been a great asset to the team, someone they heavily relied on, but knowing that even the new coach wanted you on the team had all your worries dissipate.
Now you stood with the lionesses after one of the Euros qualifying games, ready for the team picture to be taken.
You listen to the camera crew give a few of the girls directions and you look at the row of players standing behind you, however you’re suddenly distracted by someone shaking their leg and you move your eyes upward also noticing the fingers drumming on the side of their thigh.
As your eyes reach the head of the person, you’re met with two eyes staring back at you with a pleading look in their eyes as they bite their lip. You were familiar with that look, in fact, you knew it too well.
You usually crouched between Georgia and your sister on team photos, you suddenly stand up from your place and kindly ask Beth to take up your place and pat Lucy’s back as you see the confused look on her face.
Squeezing yourself next to Leah, your hand immediately goes to where it usually is and you give her waist a squeeze, one that she reciprocates as her fingers finally stop drumming on her leg.
Leah’s whole body relaxes at your closeness, something that the rest of the team is painfully aware of, but you ignore it as the cameraman finally takes the picture.
She leans close to you, muttering a small thank you and you only smile back at her reassuringly.
Amanda and Jacob, Leah’s mom and brother, always knew how important your presence was to  Leah having experienced the calm wave you brought with you on multiple occasions. You had spent half your childhood in the Williamson household growing up with Leah in the academy’s system. The two of you had spent every free second together, always up to something or messing around with a ball at your feet in one of the parks closest to their home.
It was one of the few reasons Leah’s mom wasn’t overly worried about Leah being away from home for international camps, she knew you’d do anything to keep her daughter safe.
The Euros was both physically and mentally exhausting, but you knew you were doing this not only for yourselves, but also the little girls you once were who wished to play in a girls football team.
This final was a very important final if not the most important one in your career so far and as you stood in the tunnel of the Wembley stadium you will yourself to focus on the match ahead.
The fans were screaming at the top of their lungs, the crowd at an insane number ready for their team to win on home grounds. You were just as ready, you’ve been dreaming about this day, the day you’d win the biggest European championship and lift the trophy with England.
At halftime both countries were still at a 0-0 the players hungry for a chance at scoring. You sat in your cubby as you took a breather, trying to get yourself ready mentally.
Much like always, you looked around at the rest of the girls noticing a scowl on a lot of their faces. Exhaling, you slapped your thighs as you stood up, earning the attention of some of the players.
You made your way around the room whispering encouraging words to the girls, clapping them on their backs as you received determined nods back, unaware of the pair of eyes watching as you moved around.
The way you cared about your teammates was something a lot of people admired about you, your ability to lift someone’s mood in a matter of seconds was fascinating.
Leah smiled softly as you talked to Ella before pulling the girl into a side hug. Similar to the one she was witnessing, Leah was pulled into a stronger body as Lucy smiled at her teasingly, she blushed at that.
“She’s so good at that, always knows how to approach people and what to say.” Lucy’s smile turned into a softer one as she as well watched you, Ellen and Jill soon joining in on the encouraging words you were spreading.
“She’s amazing.” Leah smiled fondly as you shot her a wink.
“You seem to really be liking my baby sister.” Lucy raised an eyebrow though the playful smile she sent the blonde assured her that she approved of the situation.
“She’s hard not to like.” she chuckled before you approached the two, Lucy planting a kiss on your head as you were told the game would resume in a minute.
England’s joy didn’t last long as the German team equalized in the 79th minute of the match and the playing style of both teams turned a bit more aggressive as the time ticked away on the clock.
With the time running out, tackles were sent at any of you running with the ball and you ended up on the turf on more than one occasion in the last five minutes of the 90.
The lionesses were trying their best to keep the ball away from the Germans while also trying to advance on their goal. It wasn’t until the 110th minute of the match when Chloe sent the ball towards the goal, the ball somehow being saved or blocked by the many legs and it was sent outside the penalty box.
Both you and Oberdorf ran after the ball and with the show of a few skills you managed to outsmart the young player and you looked up to pass to one of your teammates.
Shit, you thought, everyone was marked by either one or several German players and you momentarily stilled as you contemplated what to do.
“Shoot!” Ellen’s voice rang out loud, almost louder than the shouts of the fans. You looked up once more before sending a powerful shot towards the goal as you heard Oberdorf catch up with you.
The whole stadium held their breaths as the ball went sailing towards the top right corner of the goal before hitting the back of the net with a swoosh.
Cheers and screams were heard, the fans and your team jumping up and down and you took off running around the pitch. You were screaming as you pulled your jersey over your head and waved it around above your head like a mad woman, the girls running after you as they piled on top of you in celebration.
For the remaining few minutes your team made sure to not let any of the Germans near the ball and the second the final whistle was blown you were jumping into the arms of your older sister who spun you around, the both of you letting out joyous laughs.
You were on top of the world, or well on top of Europe as Lucy would phrase it later, and you celebrated with each and every member of your team, from players to staff and your coach, Sarina who was ecstatic at the win.
Looking over to the other side of the pitch your smile fell at the sorrowful looks on the Germans’ faces and you made your way over to them, pulling each of them into a hug and telling them they played a wonderful game. It was greatly appreciated by them, something that surprised you and you hoped you’d get a similar reaction as you approached the brunette sitting on the turf.
You crouched in front of Lena as you gently removed the hands covering her face.
“I’m so sorry.” you told her as you tried wiping away her tears, she nodded at your words before pulling you towards her and you wrapped her up in a hug praising her for the player she was and the game she’d played.
Pulling her up from the ground you gave her another hug before guiding her towards one of her teammates who gave you a thankful smile. You were patted on the head and shoulders by many of the German players as you made your way back towards your own team.
You celebrated with them, jumping up and down, singing sweet Caroline at the top of your voices, grinning at the fans dancing along. Feeling arms wrap around you from behind, you turn around to be met with a tearful Leah, a bright smile on her face as she hugs you tight.
“You were an amazing Captain, you did so good! Not just today, all throughout the games.”you told her proudly and she leaned back a bit the look into your eyes.
“You played so fucking good out there, oh gosh Y/N I’m so proud of you!” she admitted with a sniffle and you felt your eyes watering. Standing there with your best friend and captain in your arms, you watched as Leah searched your eyes before they flicked lower and back up.
Slightly parting your lips you saw her eyes linger on your lips for a second and you silently gave her a small nod.
Leah didn’t need more encouragement as she closed the distance between the two of you, her hands settling on the back of your neck as she placed her lips on yours in a passionate kiss.
Cheers of the fans were blocked out as you focused on the feel of her soft lips and the butterflies erupting in your stomach, before a handful of confetti was dumped over the two of you.
Parting from the kiss you looked up at Lucy as she grinned at the two of you, causing the blush on your cheeks to intensify.
Lifting the trophy with your teammates, your best friends and your sister, felt better than it ever could’ve in any of your dreams and you knew your throats would be sore tomorrow, the bus ride would be filled with cheers and singing as well.
Glancing to your right to see Leah’ eyes already on you, the two of you sent each other big smiles as you were once again pulled into a group hug, your fingers intertwining with hers.
You hadn’t only won the trophy of your wildest dreams, but also the girl of your dreams.

this is probably my favorite highlights reel i've watched of a "classic" arsenal game so far - and not just because it's a 4-0 home victory over united at the beginning of that phenomenal 1970-71 season. a few notes:
john radford gets a hattrick! radford's playing as the 9 and i felt like a really got a better sense of seeing how he (and arsenal) liked to play - those low shots into the corner off those crosses. he scores two goals in four minutes (and i especially like the second at about 1:25)
bob wilson's phenomenal save against george best (2:40). wilson was a teacher before he joined arsenal...after over 300 appearances for the club, he became a gk coach for arsenal and worked with jennings, lukic, seaman etc...and he was at the match this weekend :)
george graham playing as the 11. i sometimes forget that graham joined arsenal as a striker! he was our top scorer twice in that position before being moved to midfield (though it wasn't as permanent of a switch as one might think)..."stroller" and all that. 70-71 is kind of interesting because charlie george breaks his ankle in the first match (scoring an equalizer against everton, 1970 league champs) so you've got graham back as the 11 despite his limitations and then by the end of the season he's back as the 8 for the first lengthy run in that position since...68/69 i think. (and then he goes back to forward again when arsenal buy alan ball from everton and then he goes to manchester united yadda yadda). this isn't really a short note but idk. he's an neat character i'm thinking of reading his book.
forgot that ian ure joined united. rude.

interview with Louis in the March issue of FourFourTwo magazine 2/2/23
full text under the cut..
by Paul Wilkes
Which was the first match that you ever went to?
I actually got into football quite late, when I started playing at around 11. There were a few Manchester United fans in the family, so the first match I ever went to was an unbelievable first game: the FA Cup fifth round tie against Arsenal in February 2003 – the match when Sir Alex Ferguson kicked the boot and hit David Beckham! My best memories come from Doncaster, who are the only club I support now. We had a fantastic League Cup run in 2005 – we beat Manchester City on penalties, then beat Aston Villa 3-0 and lost to Arsenal on penalties in the quarter-finals. That was my first real low as a football fan. I can remember walking back home absolutely gutted.
Who was your childhood hero and did you ever meet them?
James Coppinger is my club hero – he played at every level and really played for the badge. Everyone in Donny loves him and he’s a great bloke, too. After I got into One Direction, I was lucky to meet him and play alongside him a couple of times in charity games. As a fan growing up watching him, that was amazing. The best person I’ve ever met in football was Pele. I met him about four or five years ago and it was incredible – he had all these stories and we spoke for ages. He was lovely.
What’s been your finest moment playing football?
I played in Soccer Aid and Ronaldinho tried to nutmeg me. I was all over his shirt, giving him no respect, and I just managed to nick the ball off him! There’s a sick picture that I’ve seen of it [right]. The other moment was when I was about 15. I started as a centre-back, but didn’t grow any taller so moved across to right-back and scored the only Sunday League goal I ever scored. I’ll never forget it.
What do you like most about going to the match?
The whole atmosphere, that magic. When you have those experiences as a young lad, there’s an element of nostalgia each time you go inside a football stadium.
Which player do you admire even though they’ve never played for your club?
As some of my family supported Manchester United, I was never allowed to like Thierry Henry, but those grudge matches against Arsenal were amazing. He was a serious player.
Where’s the best place you’ve ever watched a game?
The Bernabeu – it was Neymar’s first ever Clasico for Barcelona against Real Madrid, which was pretty special. It’s one of the bucket list fixtures to go to. When I was young, Doncaster signed me as a reserve player and I went to a pre-season training camp in Portugal. As a supporter of the club, that’s not something you’re normally privy to, so watching how the squad trained and prepared was fascinating.
A few years ago, you filmed a music video with Bebe Rexha on the pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium. What was that like?
It was really important for me in my career. The reason I’m sat here today is because of Doncaster – it’s played a huge role. It’s who I am as a person and it’s what I write songs about. The fact we were able to film the video at the Keepmoat, where I’ve spent many days and evenings, made it so special. It felt appropriate.
What’s your favourite football book?
It’s not a book, but Fourfourtwo! I used to subscribe when I was younger. I’m not a big reader otherwise. I should be, but I’m not.
What’s been your worst experience at a game?
I was playing in a charity match at Celtic Park. I got the ball and turned to my right, then Gabby Agbonlahor came through the back of me and I tore my medial ligament. A combination of the impact and me being very unfit meant I ended up throwing up all over Celtic’s stadium, which I know will please a lot of Rangers supporters.
Have any footballers been to a gig?
Paul Pogba came to a One Direction show once, that’s the one that stands out – he was really sound. I won’t lie, I don’t think many footballers listen to One Direction songs.
Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever met a footballer?
I was in this bar somewhere in South America and, purely by chance, Bryan Robson was there with a few friends. He was a bit drunk. We went straight over and he was nice, but it was one of those times where you think, ‘What is he doing here?!’ [Laughs]
What’s the greatest goal you’ve ever seen live?
I was at Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s debut for LA Galaxy, because I spend some time over in Los Angeles. The LAFC keeper launched the ball upfield and it was cleared back to Zlatan about 40 yards out. He watched it bounce and then smashed it over the keeper’s head, an unbelievable goal. I love him – I like a bit of s**thousery in my footballers, and he’s always had that.
Who’s your current favourite player?
The obvious answer is Erling Haaland, because any fan seeing him rack up the goals this season has been totally in awe. Even if you support Manchester United, you watch him and think he’s superb. But for me, Jude Bellingham. I’m so excited by Jude – he’s been in brilliant form this season, even before the World Cup.
If you could drop yourself into your all-time five-a-side team, who would you be playing next to?
Well, I play at the back, so I want me and Rio Ferdinand. I’d pick Edwin van der Sar, he was a top keeper in his day, then in midfield I’d have Ronaldinho – I grew up loving his football. Up front, I’ll go for Cristiano Ronaldo.
What’s the most important piece of memorabilia that you have?
I had a Doncaster home shirt as a kid that I associate with growing up. A few years ago, I bought the same shirt in my current size – it’s special to me, and when I met Pele I asked him to sign it. That was the pinnacle.
Louis Tomlinson’s solo album, ‘Faith In The Future’, is available to buy now.

Note
Do you have headcanons for Ruki as an elected leader? How would he fair? For the sake of this scale let's say 0 being dictator almost immediately,7 through 10 would be idk JFK/Harold Wilson/Laurier/Churchill insert whoever you like,2 would be democracy barely survives,3 would be Nixon with Watergate, and 5 would be average.
Ruki Mukami — Elected Leader Headcanons
⚜ When historians, both during the time of the scandal and those who authored modern textbooks read in today's classrooms, deemed Watergate a tragedy as ironic as a spider caught in its own web of lies, little did they know of the Vampire President who would rain carnage later on.
⚜ Truth be told, Ruki would facilitate the well-being of his country much better as an advisor behind the curtains who suggests ideas and solutions to the would-be president. However, since he holds this seat of power, acting as the head of the government and the face everyone in the nation looks upon, he will take drastic measures to realize his goals.
⚜ Based on the aforementioned scale, he would rank zero without a doubt, displaying all the behaviors of a dictator albeit deftly from the political shadows at first. The Vampire claimed his position in power after threatening those who competed against his campaign. From there, he compelled those who opposed his reign with none other than his fangs and other supernatural gifts with little to no difficulty.
⚜ Despite his ambitions for the country and natural charisma, delegating tasks and commanding others expecting them to follow can only work to an extent. This is where Ruki's leadership falls short. A skilled leader must be able to network with those who share varied beliefs miles away from his own, and needless to say, the Vampire isn't the best when it comes to compromise.
⚜ To start a whole new regime, a president must deploy a plethora of tactics in their arsenal rather than the eldest Mukami's tried and true coercion strategy. Fangs and vampirism aside, Ruki would often try to go public with his policies and forgo his cabinet meetings by appealing to the masses directly and mobilize pressure. He is no fool; he has seen with his own two eyes throughout the decades that bargaining within one's cabinet is no longer as effective as it once was. Thanks to his age and knowledge of what has transpired throughout history, Ruki plays his cards correctly when needed.
⚜ Perhaps his charisma is so dangerous that some might accuse him of boasting the "Teflon factor." A Teflon president is one whose charisma supersedes any blame that can come his way. Ruki can and will use his personal popularity to his advantage akin to previous successful presidents before his time. Even more so than his charms or good looks, he knows how to read the room and put on a façade to gain political favor.
⚜ Of course, there is also the business aspect to consider. Laws and policies in favor of the market and the economy, needless to say, are much more likely to be passed and endorsed by larger corporations at the cost of forgoing health regulations. Given his time in the orphanage, the Vampire has a secret agenda of improving the conditions of not only those kind of establishments for homeless and parentless children, but also shelters nationwide.
⚜ In order to satisfy both corporate leaders and labor regulations that often posed an obstacle to those poor living conditions in the first place, Ruki would work endlessly to implement more agreeable components to his policies in exchange for his opponents’ support and thus navigate around obstacles that would have otherwise blocked the legislation promoting the welfare of those who were likely to suffer the same atrocities he once did in his human youth.
⚜ Unfortunately, those tactics don't always work within one's cabinet or even on the public for that matter. The corporate side always prevails, and to pass laws that favor the destitute is near impossible when everyone prioritizes economic stability above all else. In response, Ruki throws his presidential charade to the winds, opting for his fangs and the threats of spilling a sea of blood composed of his political opponents' life essence if it means passing his legislation.
⚜ Greedy, money hungry corporate leaders who would normally shut down the process at the first opportunity suddenly agree with him. No one can explain their sudden change in heart, or their uncharacteristic compliance. Even the Court eventually suspects the newly elected president once evidence of certain blood stains comes to light. However, the Vampire knows better than to not leave a trail.
⚜ Behind the cameras, news reports, and presidential debates lies a Vampire who commands each branch of the government to his every beck and call. Rather than paying in hush money, he gives them the options to either live or die during his regime. Those who chose the former survive to watch their businesses plummet to new lows, whereas those who would rather perish succumb to the dark fate awaiting them as the Vampire President's next saccharine treat.
"To rule, the president must wear many hats. In front of their family, in front of their colleagues, and in front of the entire population. Is it so wrong to don said hats with lies and deceit to achieve my ends? Certainly not. In the light of a prosperous new dawn, I'll do everything that I can within the darkness to lead this country towards its best future."
