Sorry Ive been Silent lately. I have my reasons for doing so. Short of it....I dunno when I’ll come back to RP on here....frankly I just...don’t want to lol. Ive felt very discouraged for a while, lost a lot of motivation to keep RP-ing...Feel like there is no place for me anymore, that kind of thing.  

I pop on sometimes just to skim around, see whats up, stuff like that. But, mostly I just feel Im better off just being quiet.

I thought I should make an actual meaningful post on Genevieve’s blog, as I am known by friends for doing on my Markus’ blog ( which I honestly will say that because I have more followers there, I purposely use him as a platform to discuss certain rpc topics ). 

By no means is this post directed to anyone specifically, as this is truly just a generalized statement. 

In this fandom, the DBH fandom, I can name 3 or 4 (?) RP blogs that actually have black women as their muse/or in their muse roster. I know this isn’t just DBH fandom, but many fandoms are absent of POC muses, in general. But, this is my reason for creating Genevieve.

See, before I joined the DBH fandom, I RPed fandomless OCs on Tumblr with a few people. Most of the time, I only roleplayed males. In fact, Genevieve is my first female muse that I have dedicated an actual blog to. In my RPing as male muses, I noticed that there weren’t many OCs of color around. I thought that it was just me, but I have had other people tell me that they’ve noticed this to. 

As a black woman, this just bothers me. It bothers me because I love to write, I love to read, I love to create. I love the bond that comes with interacting with other people, formulating amazing and captivating stories with people. So, in short, it was discouraging to not see people of my race not represented so much in this RP world. Because, I’ve seen on so many occasions where people of my race have a hard time being unapologetically black. So many times where my race may have been looked over or look at negatively. As a real person, realizing those real issues, it hurts. 

Now, before I made Genevieve, I actually only had Connor and Markus on an RP blog. I interacted with people there. In fact, Genevieve was created as an NPC in a thread I wrote with an old partner. She was actually a detective in the thread, and Gavin’s partner. She wasn’t suppose to be a good person. She was suppose to be a bad person. But, at that moment. It clicked. I felt she deserved something better.

There’s not many cases where black women are portrayed as “girly” or “feminine” in the media. That’s what I wanted Genevieve to be. I wanted her to be the essence of femininity. I wanted her to be cute, and pretty, and dainty-- even though she does have that arrogant attorney attitude sometimes-- And that was difficult to do, because I had no “feminine” or “girly” characters before hand. 

So, I gave her a first name. I gave her a separate occupation. I gave her a black face claim. And I gave Genevieve her own story. Finally, I gave her a blog. I didn’t get any real interactions for months on her blog, no matter what I posted. But I was proud of her. I sometimes wanted to leave her here to collect dust, I but I was determined to actually build something for her. And I have found so many wonderful people who are amazing, and thinks she’s a cool character and I am so thankful for them.

But she is still a work in process. Sometimes I do feel like I failed her, but I remember that I came a long way with her. It’s just that she still has a long way to go. Maybe the future holds greatness for her. Maybe she can inspire some one else. I feel lesser than because I don’t give her the attention she deserves. But, I am trying. I promise that I am. I apologize for the spiel. I just felt this needed to be said, after all.

[Topic Chosen]: Complaining about what’s on the dash

【☆】I fortunately haven’t seen this yet here in the DBH RPC but I have seen it frequently in the past in other fandoms and I have seen complaining over some of the dumbest shit in the past such as over ships, portrayals and fanon vs canon and even just see stuff of people complaining about seeing people they didn’t like on their dash. 

And you know what that shit is annoying. If something bothers you that’s on your dashboard. There’s a handy thing called blacklist. Or even unfollow or block if you really need too. It’s not that hard. 

Like I have callouts and drama blacklisted. You don’t see me complaining about it constantly. And if someone just constantly involves themselves in this stuff? I softblock them to get rid of them completely. Don’t see me complaining about anyone I ever blocked for my own comfort either appearing on my dash either. Why? Because I’m a grown ass adult who knows what to do in order to make my dash comfortable for myself. I take the actions necessary to make myself comfortable on this website as much as possible!

If you can’t even do that then you need to stop and think ‘Is Tumblr the place for me?’ cause yeah, even with updates that’s made it a little bit shittier, for me it’s also one of the only places I know where you can take the steps needed to cater your dash to your needs. 

In general, stop complaining about stuff you don’t like on the dash and use what’s been provided to get rid of said things from your dash. It’s not that fuckin hard.

positivity for DBH rpc : I'm thankful for the DBH RPC in general!! Ever since I started this blog, and the one before it even, it's been so wonderful! All of the good things, and all of the bad things as well, has been experiences I wouldn't take back for anything! I've met incredible people, make such amazing friends, and gotten to write with just crazy creative people. I can't imagine being in a better community. Thank you to everyone!!

20. Have you ever felt pressured to write something you weren’t comfortable with?

【☆】 Definitely. I have been pressured. Someone wanted to write a ship with an old muse and I said no as I didn’t see the two characters as anything other than friends. And they accepted that but kept trying to push it. Wrote a starter that would have made my muse too ooc by making someone jealous and I just couldn’t do it anymore. So know what I did? I jumped ship and abandoned the fandom and my account unfortunately as at that time I was young and didn’t know how to be stern about rules being broken or being pushed into uncomfortable ooc situations. 

Now I won’t let it happen. If I’m uncomfortable I will say that I am uncomfortable with the topic we’re writing or not digging it. Try to pressure me after I’ve already said no? I’ll drop the thread and potentially even the writer because if they aren’t going to care about me being uncomfortable with a thread then they aren’t worth writing with.

21.  Have you ever followed someone because you felt like you had to, not because you wanted to?

【☆】 I did in the past. Felt like I needed to follow the ‘popular’ blog within a fandom just so I’d get interactions. Now? I really don’t care whose popular or what. I’ll follow who I want on my own terms. I haven’t done it in DBH. If I followed someone it’s because I wanted to. Not because I felt like I had too. Had people in the past guilt me for not following or writing with their muses. Friends that is. Like not every muse you got is gonna work every muse your friend writes and people need to realise that is a thing. Or sometimes your friend just isn’t interested in the fandom you’re muse is from. It happens. Just cause you don’t write with one muse doesn’t mean you hate your friends writing in the end. Sometimes muses from different fandoms don’t mesh or your friend just doesn’t like the fandom they’re from and that’s gucci. 

22. What would make you block someone?

【☆】 A lot. I’m just tired. Big things like constantly calling people out and lots of vaguing. Bringing private drama out in the public.Talking shit about people because you had a bad experience with them in the hopes to not have anyone interact with them or drive them out. Constantly vaguing about the RPC and Rpiers in general. Suicide baiting. If you’re a minor. Sent hate to myself or others. Stalked people. Steals stuff. The list goes on. 

I will also block someone if I learn they’ve blocked me. I do this for my own comfort in the end and so I can go and block them if I ever decide to move accounts just so that we keep out of each others roads as much as possible uwu

For DBH I’d love to see an Alice. But really any character is great. So many of them don’t get enough love in the rpc and they deserve all the recignizion and love and my muses need to intract and poke them where they can!

As for other fandoms/crossover/ect well theres not much right now DBH fully has my attention. Although there’s plenty of fandoms close to my heart that I’d just die if I saw any characters from there around.

Worst role play-related encounter and what advice you would give to others to avoid similar situations?

I really don’t like to stalk about negative things, and I’m sure that much of the DBH RPC has dealt with the recent slew of antis. I’ve had my own experience. Let’s leave it at that. As for avoiding situations, block and report. If you know people who are involved with antis or are antis themselves, don’t engage them. Don’t allow toxic behavior to spread.

A trope you catch yourself falling back too often?

I can’t really say I fall back on any tropes per say. I have my favorites, like how Connor is regretful of his past as the deviant hunter, or that Xander ( RK900 ) is actually a sweet hearted dork that has a bitchy resting face and is socially retarded.

A trope you dislike?

I have two tropes I absolutely hate. One is that Connor is a wubby. He’s NOT a damn wubby. He’s a fully combat ready murderbot with a sweet face and the ability to emotionally manipulate humans with his sweet personality into doing what he needs in order to further his mission. Please don’t forget that even at his kindest and sweetest he’s still a fully capable fighter and not a child.

Secondly, I hate how the RK900 was immediately deemed by the fandom to be evil, all just because he was meant to be Connor’s replacement in the Machine Path timeline. My question is; what proof do you have? If he’s the finished product of Connor, why would he not be just as warm and loving as his predecessor? And even if he isn’t, the poor thing didn’t ask to be created. He didn’t ask to replace another machine. He’s only got a few seconds of screen time for rA9′s sake. There’s no proof he’s not also a good boy.

What drew you to the character you currently play? What types of characters are you generally drawn to?

What drew me to Connor (since he was the first muse on this blog) was…honestly, his potential. he can be whatever you want him to be, but at his core he’s a good soul that got the short end of the stick.

I am usually drawn to characters that have some kind of commonality with me. be it similar ideals, personality or a number of factors, I have to connect with them in some way. I also enjoy dark and complicated muses, and I seem to have a thing for playing machines and AI.

What sort of information do you like to see on someone’s role play page that helps you determine whether or not you would want to write with them?

Firstly if they are a character that I am interested in writing with, or if their OC seems interesting. I also do like to know the age of the mun (18 or older, not specifics) and what their personal rules are. I like to observe writing style and how they play the character a little while before diving in, as I’m shy and awkward and I can be seriously picky. But on the other hand, I think my biggest issue is that I want to write with everyone and that’s just not possible with my schedule.

Are there popular head canons for your character that you disagree with? Why?

Not really?? I mean, I’m pretty sure RK900 doesn’t have sharp teeth, but like…you do you.

I think the biggest issue people have and why most don’t include her is just for the fact that her story and the way Cage wrote her character are extremely underwhelming. And when you’re not part of the RPC it’s even harder to really… find any reason to care I guess? All the people i know ooc when I ask about Kara are just like. They really don’t like the way her character/story was written out.

You're probably right orz At least when it comes to Markus you can dig depth and consistency into his character despite the awful writing, while Kara is much of a full-time mom.

All female characters are particularly badly written and stereotypical but... I just feel like the fandom in general makes a bigger effort to fix that with fan content when it comes to minor male characters than an actual -female- main character. I mean there’s also the fact that there are indeed lots more of male characters and that it’s easier and more interesting to work from a mostly blank page than rethinking a whole character, so I’m not throwing shade on anyone, really...

I guess I’m just bitter that yet another female character gets overlooked because the writer did a terrible job writing her.
