Who was right to guess the yorishiro is within Mirai? Yep, me.~ would pay to be in Hanako's, Nene's, Teru's place or the owls and watch Tsukasa in action and going -far shore No.6 mode but X1000 COOLER like they were doing. the amount of self confidence he has has always impressed me. my goodness it's limitless… but this chapter is on another whole level. SO SMUG! I love that mood of his. oooooh SO COOL!!!

Why the yorsihrio of No.1 had to be a key of all things? ........

What nat did to Mit 2.0 on her order... what a simp. Indeed proved his words in here.

So the 'welcome between us party', the whole big-bro nat facade, the nice gestures he showed together with his lady toward Mit 2.0 were fake all along? How funny. What a shock. I didn't expect they are this sort of people. I'm shocked with nat and his lady. lol

So, I was right in the end? They are plotting things of 'her' own together. No way Tsukasa would plan for Mit 2.0 end up this way.

It's her not being able to wait to have her wish come true no matter who she will hurt. That makes her so happy.~ what a softie. lol

(can't be) Though, if the 2 were plotting to put Mit 2.0 in a situation where he'll be forced to have a yorishiro by having nat do that so they can destroy it later... hmm... judging from Tsukasa's words in here...

Is that what he meant by calling No.3's case a 'done deal' in ch 92? The only yorishrios that are left are him and No.1's. what about old No.3's yorsirhio that's still on the ceiling?

What happened to granting Mit 2.0's wish btw? Tsukasa, you're going to carry on with that or..... wait... maybe there is no reason... once all yorishrios are destroyed, if what she said is true..... hmm..... things are going way too fast..... if we assumed the world will be rewritten so the living, the dead, supernaturals are equal and can live together... that means Mit 2.0's wish is granted along the way? uh, that's too much thinking

Anyway, don't think Mit 2.0 will end here. We need to have Kou in the picture, don't we? His long-wanted wish coming to play???

This might be related as well...? will Tsu really /disappear/I mean I've always wondered what will happen to him once the seal is gone? hmm... does Amane know of Tsukasa's condition or not? if he does and still see that will happen....

And I was waiting for Nene to confess to him. Look at the move he took. AHAHAHA This arc is full of confessions on their side. WAAAHHH

Come on, Amane! You can do it! Just take a step forward! You're almost there! I need you to reach this point, fianlly lose it and shout out all the love you have for him with all your might so Tsukasa will finally understand......

What a nice way of talking he has. Between the 2, some cool development! Keep it up, Amane! I'm cheering for you! Talk more about your feelings!! Voice them out to those you love and love you back!!

It's impressive how he is ready to let Nene go twice and with Tsukasa... that's never an option.

I assume it's within his belief of she will move on someday, and have her dreams achieved and have a nice life, she doesn't really need him there to be happy as he voiced out before. now we have a swap with Tsukasa taking his place as he takes Nene's. tragic.

While with Tsukasa, he knows they can't ever let go of each other, it's never an option for them.

Yet, Tsukasa insists on leaving him, on sacrificing himself! One time, another time, and another time! Give the boy a break!!! His heart won't take it anymore!!!

If there is a thing he won't want to ever happen it's to lose you!!! He is NOT happy without you beside him!!

He does want to be with you, but he needs to be shown you REALLY wants it. That you needs him to be happy. That you needs him beside you. He needs a reason to stay.

Ok, Amane. Give him the reason to stay by your side. Let this 'I hate you' shine. Come on, prove to Tsukasa what he is worth to you! Tell him/show him what you want for real, your real desire, what makes you happy for real. And!!! Tsukasa, accept his wish!

Would having a wish coming true make him happy if he were to lose you?! I mean, if you're not gone Nene is also saved! who cares for her wish, huh?! Amane always comes first to you, right? Your top priority is to keep the promise you made to him and grant his real wish. Didn't you ask him to decide?! He did!!! Consider his decision!!!

You always go saying people should have the chance to do what they want, alright! Between the contrasting wants of your twin AMANE and assistant, which will you choose?! One has to get lost. It's her! Care for those who care for you, not the ones who want you gone to get what they want.

Between the 2 of you... what would keeping that promise mean if he were to lose you in exchange? He doesn't want that.

I seriously wonder if Amane knew these… would he react nicely to her? Those who treat his precious ones as if they were nothing… oh… will he be merciless?

Seriously, even though I was trying to give her a chance, even though I was trying to keep in mind she might have had a hard life and just wants to be free, with everything new I see of her I can't help but despise her and her dog more. Sheesh. They piss me off.

Hiii I wanted to say thank you for writing such great fics😍 I have a question, if you're ok with answering of course, I was wondering when writing your fics do you have all the plots already planned out for them and you already know how they are going to end or are you thinking it up as you go along? In the beginning I thought it was the second one, but after some time I've noticed especially in WGYTR that the progress of their feelings towards each other is so natural and it really comes across like its well planned out and not that you are just thinking up a new random plot for every chapter😂 I hope it makes sense. So basically I'm interested what your process for writing the fics is like👀

hi anon! i love this question a lot actually bc my writing process is?? i guess somewhat structured but not really? i should probably preface this by saying that i did major in English literature so i know how to break down story elements, and use this often when writing my fics

before i start writing i have an overall plot in mind. i know how i want to start, and how i want to end, but everything in the middle is less planned out. i'll have some basic plot points i want to hit (ie this conversation needs to happen/they do this specific action/they're at X or Y location). but, using the chapters i've already posted of WGYTR as an example, the rest goes as follows;

for this fic i only had 3 major elements to hit. we've crossed the first two, and are now on the way towards the end goal of the story so >

A 》 B 》 C

A - the beginning of the story - Senku and Gen hardly know each other so the beginning is messier as often is when you're just meeting someone new. Senku is still somewhat mistrustful of Gen, while Gen is still in scheming mode. for this reason, Gen's thoughts are on the pessimistic side and Senku's more snappy and weary

a lot of the chapters in this part of the story revolve around doing random menial tasks that spark conversation and build trust. checkers, making paper, etc. not much of a direction besides the overall goal of making the phone, and Gen's plan to make Senku relax through laughter. it clearly backfires on him, making them grow closer, which is how we arrive at the midpoint

B - they accept each other as friends - Gen learns to recognize that he's changed as a person and accept the friends he's made - Senku, Ruri, and Kohaku. it's a personal milestone for him to recognize he's grown close to others over time. Senku never needed to cross such an obstacle as he's always been open to new friendships, like Chrome and Kohaku, albeit held at a bit of a distance. his milestone was accepting that he does trust Gen, that he won't be betrayed the way Tsukasa betrayed him

often the smaller plot points like the paper feel disconnected until i reach my midpoint of the story. in this case, that was Gen realizing he was using his infatuation with Kohaku to cover up his genuine feelings for Senku. since Gen is more in touch with his emotions, it's a turning point within the story itself and where the tone really starts to change. Senku's realization is slower and more subtle, it's there but it's not a massive "Oh" moment like Gen's.

C - getting together - obviously we're not there yet, but actions going forward are all building towards that. all those random elements introduced in the first half of the story will get wrapped up in this chunk

as for the chapters in between points A B C, it's less structured. i look at what needs to happen to touch on certain conversations or actions, and build a path from there so >

Gen remembers paper is a thing that exists 》 there's a chapter about collecting the materials as a "getting to know you" stage of the relationship 》 Gen makes Senku the log book, but also makes pinwheels for the children as a way of showing who he's grown close to and cares about. he makes a notebook for himself, but it's specifically to help Ruri even though he claims it's for selfish reasons 》 Senku mentions being surprised Gen hasn't made cards for himself, something he thought about all the way back when they were first playing checkers together 》 the paper was a device for Gen to demonstrate his growing close to others, but in a way that's set up for Senku to recognize the change in his behavior. so logicaly this tangent will wrap up with Senku's actions rather than Gen's.

in reality i just have this loose outline for my fic, and just go filling in the gaps as needed. generally i always have 1 buffer chapter ready before i post the next chapter. so ch 2 was ready before posting ch 1, and so on. this is so i have wiggle room incase i need to go back and add or remove something to make the next chapter make sense. most recently i had posted ch 25, but i realized i needed a whole ass chapter between ch 25 and 26 for 26 to make sense. so ch 26 became ch 27 (not yet posted) and i wrote a whole new ch 26 to bridge the gap

occasionally i'll think up a random scene or conversation that i don't have use for right away, so i'll just write it down to save for later. the conversation about education in ch 26 is one i wrote all the way back during ch 3 but didn't find a place for it to fit with the flow until i needed to write a bridge chapter. there's also snipets that may never make it into this fic that i'll just use for a different one down the road

i also do a lot of reaserch on the actual process for things that happen within the fic. like making paper, uses for sap, flowers and their uses - these are all topics i wasn't familiar with at all so i took the time to figure out how i could incorporate them realistically.

but there's also stuff i just draw on personal experience to write about - i'm on the aromantic spectrum like Senku, and i speak several languages like Gen. these aren't things i need to be precise about, but add to the story nonetheless

that's all i can think of as far as the actual process goes! but if you have any other questions i'm happy to answer them!

Thoughts on Shokugeki Ch.263

It’s been a long 56 Chapters since the Régiment de Cuisine tournament began and there’s been a lot of highs, some lows, some really great match ups, but also a kinda lukewarm ending?

Spoilers under the cut.

We all knew from the start the ultimate goal of Soma’s was to take the 1st seat of the Elite Ten... I just didn’t expect it to feel so... sudden? If you look at how the tournament went, Soma helped secure 3 wins. He took more wins than anyone else (only Erina herself ended up winning more than one match), but I just did not imagine Soma would immediately snag the 1st seat. I already talked about my predictions, but I imagined Soma would start off in a lower seat and would work his way up and continue needing to prove himself against his peers as that is a major theme in his conflict - proving that a humble diner chef can still stand among the elites.

Not to wave off having beat the 6th and 4th Elites all on his own, but to put Yukihira as the 1st seat implies he’s on par with Tsukasa and Rindou, and he’s DEFINITELY not as good as either. I would even argue Isshiki and Kuga could still both beat Yukihira in a fair fight right now. I do think he’s the best of his year (minus Erina) and deeply admired by all of his peers, but to put him in 1st is a bit much. With Soma in the 1st seat, I feel like his journey is over, I can’t imagine what direction they’re going to take his character from here. Maybe how Soma will behave now that he’s the epitome of the Totsuki student body? He’s even a higher rank than his father. He can also continue sharpening his skills to impress Erina, but we basically know Erina already digs his cooking.

As for Erina taking on the headmaster position... I don’t know, it just feels like another “Series Finale” move. Like I expect the manga to be over and next chapter is a 10 year timeskip showing how Totsuki flourished under Erina and Soma’s leadership and the two being married. I don’t see how else Erina can grow after this. Possibly the next arc could be a rival school threatening Erina and she has to prove she can steer Totsuki to victory in a rival tournament with that school? That’s about all I can imagine. As intelligent and highly-regarded as Erina is, it still takes some insane nepotism to place a 16 year old as headmaster of a whole academy. I feel like the obvious choice would have put Gin at the helm for a few years while Erina grows into the role as the 1st seat, you know, above Soma. Then during their senior year Erina takes on the headmaster role after Soma formally beats her and takes the 1st seat. I really am suspicious that the manga is about to end. It all feels too perfect.

Tsukasa and Rindou, I’m a bit disappointed how they were defeated. There’s something more unambiguous about being defeated in a 1 on 1 Shokugeki that is lost when you do a tag team fight. As cool as it was seeing the two lose to a united Soma and Erina, I feel like individually, they would have destroyed the rebels if it were Tsukasa vs Erina and Rindou vs Soma. Rather than an insurmountable titan being toppled, I just feel like the rebels loop holed their way to victory.

I’m surprised Jouichirou didn’t show up to tell Azami himself that he found happiness without needing to be a perfect chef. This whole time I expect Azami’s entire motivation to crumble with Jouichirou himself pulling the rug out from underneath him, but instead, Soma does it. Azami hasn’t done any Shokugeki himself, which I feel is another major missed opportunity that needed to happen before this arc ended. It would be nice if next chapter Jouichirou cooks for Azami in a way that proves you don’t need to follow a “perfect” method to make something great and Azami submits that way. I would hate for Azami to fade into obscurity after this and be left as The Unfought.

All in all, there were some good fights and some nice development for Erina, but this arc just felt like it didn’t reach its full potential of what it could have done. I would be surprised if there’s another arc after this one because virtually all the past conflicts have been wrapped up, albeit a bit hastily. There’s definitely ways to have milked out Soma’s rise to the 1st seat and Erina’s development as a leader, but they decided not to do that. I’m curious where the story will go from here because it’s basically a completely new frontier where Yukihira is no longer the underdog, he’s a proven and respected leader of the school and Erina is no longer an ambivalent antagonist but the Big Good of the team.

Maybe there will still be some rebellious factions leftover that still worship Azami’s ideals, because I do think it’s kind of ridiculous that an entire stadium of Azami-loving students are suddenly going to roll over and go back to the old ways under Erina. Isn’t it curious how when the rebels were announced the winners, we weren’t shown the crowd’s reaction, only Soma’s allies’? I’m sure they would be booing! Those people were seriously in outcry for the rebels to stop getting in Azami’s way because they were genuinely happy under him - another conflict that is in need of being addressed next chapter.

Ask Round-Up 1/?

I've recently gotten a lot of asks in the past week or so, which has been pretty fun! But it's a bit intense responding to all of them individually, and I have been wanting to try and respond... so I thought this might be an easier way to do so, by putting them all in one post!

I don't have as much to say about most of these also, so I figured a quick response like this was better, instead of multiple small posts. 🎶

So, without further ado...

Ask No. 1

I think Hanako is incapable of "showing his limit" at the moment, for one. The seal on his cheek seems to seal his own power away (a thought I explore in this post btw), weakening him and preventing him from using his true power. Beyond that, Hanako is plenty strong enough to deal with any enemy thrown at him so far, so there hasn't been a need for him to go all out.

I also suspect that Hanako may have some reservations about showing his real power if he has trouble controlling it, or it makes him look scary. If that's the case, his worry about what Yashiro may think of him could definitely be holding him back! We just have to see. 🎶

Ask No. 2 (I'm not sure if they're connected but I am assuming yes?)

Hmm... well, I do think the twin's relationship is clearly abnormal, especially since one killed the other. But I don't think the blushing Amane does during PP is of much concern; it comes across as a guy who is embarrassed of his clingy younger brother.

As for other occurrences, like in Ch. 16 when Amane finally meets Tsukasa again, I think Amane is just upset. Blushing can be seen when people cry, too, and it’s upsetting seeing your dead brother who you murdered.

As for Tsukasa... I do think he's a victim like Amane, in at least one way! If Amane had parents or guardians that didn't care about the scars on his wrists, then Tsukasa is also probably a victim of parental neglect. Maybe he’s not AS victim as Amane is, but he’s a little bit victim.

Ask No. 3

I'm not sure! But I think it might have to do with the current arc. Aoi said she wants to go "far away", so maybe Aoi wanted to confide in her friend about her feelings? Aoi seems to feel disconnected from everyone in her life, even her best friend Nene, so she might've wanted a friend to just... listen to her. :( It could also have to do with how Aoi could see supernaturals, maybe...?

Ask No. 4

In Japanese media, there's a popular trope of The Seven Mysteries, which is represented in Hanako-kun. You can read about it on tv tropes here!

I link this, because there doesn't have to be an Eighth Mystery. There certainly could be, but the whole gimmick of it is that there’s Seven, not Eight. :D I think the only way we are going to get an Eighth Mystery in Hanako, it it even happens, is through Yashiro. But it is also possible that maybe the God of the Seven Mysteries could count as the Eighth...? (Just a wild guess!)

Ask No. 5

I'm honestly not sure. I'd personally just say they're there to accentuate the character's personalities. Yashiro is a (former?) mystery-loving highschool girl, with a love of cute and creepy things (she has skeleton plushies in her bedroom!). Sakura is a refined lady who holds fancy tea parties, so of course she'd have a lovely gem brooch!

If I had to go with something a bit more theorize-y, the skull could represent how Yashiro is going to die soon, and maybe the gem on Sakura holds magic properties? XD Like how people believe crystals hold hidden powers... I dunno!

Ask No. 6

I love the pilot too, I'm with you there! I'm ultimately happy with the current Hanako we have, but there's parts of it I liked better. In particular, the concept of Hanako going to hell and being punished with marks on his wrist were pretty interesting. And AidaIro's old art is such a treat to look at!

I got into Hanako-kun in November, after seeing the first animated trailer for it! It's so nostalgic watching it now, hehe. An artist I liked retweeted it on Twitter, and then I decided to read the manga! And then I made this blog after reading the manga in two days. XD Fun times!

Ask No. 7

I feel very bad for Sumire! I think it's awful that she's been forced into boxes her whole life (and afterlife); first she was chosen to be a sacrifice and only had No. 6 for company, and then she died and was forced to stay in a timeloop of her own death as No. 6's yorishiro. I'd really hate if she ended up dying again if her yorishiro is destroyed, because her life is sooo unfair; so I'm purposefully hoping that Yashiro's crazy plan will work. XD

I'm not sure how much Yashiro can "save" Sumire, but maybe Sumire and No. 6 can make up and live happily ever after together. :) Wouldn't that be nice?! Maybe if we wish hard enough it will come true. (Lol)

And that's an interesting idea! Perhaps Sumire and Tsukasa went to heaven, and the yorishiro copies are just clones of the memories that No. 6 and No. 7 had of them. If that's what you mean, anyways? But yes, it's strange how yorishiros live a life of punishment of living through their deaths, if that's also what happened to yorishiro!Tsukasa... how needlessly cruel, when they’re supposed to be precious objects!

At first I thought it was an alternate timeline, but now I do think Nene actually time-travelled to the past, since Hanako acts weirdly around her after seeing her in the yukata. I figure Hanako just couldn't remember her very well, or perished the thought of them being the same since the girl was from 1964, not 2015+! And I'm unsure if young Amane's wish to meet her again is the cause of everything happening, but it would be awfully ironic, huh? 😅 The kid should've done the astronaut wish like she told him to! (Sheesh!)

Ask No. 9

This ask was in reference to this post!

I think this is a solid theory! If there were three Hanakos (the original, another, and then Hanako-kun), then Sakura seems like the most obvious choice for being the second one.

And yes! The girl does look like Sakura. Although, she is wearing a middle school uniform (I think?), and the hair doesn't match exactly... but it's something interesting to at least consider!

I'm unsure if she got removed from her job because of her wish to Tsukasa, though; I feel like Hanako would've had her position before she made a wish, especially since Tsukasa's wish-granting powers seem to be linked to Amane's powers as “Hanako-san of the Toilet”. So she must have done something else to get fired, I think!
