YouTube video views

I've been thinking about my YouTube videos. I actually have two YouTube channels which I've been keeping very separate. One of them is for videos about books and writing, which includes serious writing advice, interviews with other authors, and things like that. I've only had this channel for about a year and it’s still small, with only a handful of videos and subscribers. The other is a channel I've had for years where I post fan videos of stuff. I used to post loads more videos but my creations have become a lot more sporadic over recent years because Real Life.

On that fan video channel, I've been trying to work out a pattern for the videos that do best, because the videos with the most views are not my best videos. So here is me taking a critical look at my videos to try and get to the bottom of why some YouTube videos are more successful than others.

1st Place: Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger, 378,002

The video that has the most views at 378,002 last time I checked is a Power Rangers video called Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger. The song is When Your A Jet from the musical West Side Story, which is a little... odd as a choice. As videos go, it's okay. The video clips fit the lyrics and there are no obvious slip ups like stray frames being left in. There's a slightly clunky bit of dialogue in the middle that doesn't transition well to the rest of the video and the title at the end is a touch crude, but I can look back at this and smile instead of cringe. It doesn't do anything particularly clever but it's fine. I made it in 2007 so it's had 13 years to gain viewers, which would make sense, and at the time I posted it I was very active on a Power Rangers forum so I probably posted links on there and got some viewers that way.

I think the main reason this video has done so well though is because a Power Rangers anniversary episode came out later with the same name, so I suspect a lot of the views are people who were looking for that episode and clicked my silly, little video instead. I expect the 23 dislikes were a result of this. The average view time according to the analytics is 35 seconds, which combined with the general lack of interaction suggests that people click on it, realise it isn't what they want, and click away.

2nd Place: Trailer: Am I Perfect Yet? 211,239

My next highest view count video is Trailer: Am I Perfect Yet? This is a trailer I made for an original story I was working on. I took clips from a bunch of different films and TV shows and stuck them together in a way that formed a trailer for my own story. In terms of quality, the biggest thing I notice rewatching it is that it jumps between different aspect ratios. Some of the film clips are generally in widescreen, but the made from TV films and TV show clips aren't, so it jumps constantly between them. There are also cuts between scenes from different things that are supposed to be in the same place, but the lighting is so clearly different. But on the other hand, it does what I intended it to do. It gets across the points for the story the way a trailer should. Looking at this, it makes me want to dig out the half-written first draft of the novel and see if it's worth continuing to write the thing.

In terms of why this video has so many views, I think it's because this was the pinned video on my channel for a long time. I pinned it while I was actively working on the story and then I just didn't change it for ages, probably years. So anyone going to my channel would have seen this video first.

3rd Place: Trailer: The Forgotten Power, 165,144

The next videos are a bit more of a mystery. Coming in third is a trailer for a Power Rangers fanfic I wrote. The fanfic is probably still up on fanfiction.net if anyone cares enough to hunt for it and I did include links to the trailer videos when I posted the fic, so I guess that would have brought people to it.

As far as videos go, it's not good. Some of the clips are badly cut out so there's a random frame from another scene that sneaks in. I put audio clips over video clips in a way that's really obvious and bad. The audio is jumpy.

I'm ashamed that this is my third most viewed video because it is definitely not a great example of my video editing skill. I know that it's over 13 years old, so I should cut myself some slack, but if someone sorts my videos by views to look for the best ones they'll find this instead of any of the much, much better ones I made later.

4th Place: Blood on my Hands - Jayden/Deker 150,740

Another Power Rangers video, this one a little bit more recent. This one I published in June 2011. My skills obviously came a long way in those 4 years. It's just a lot less clunky. The clips flow together a bit more smoothly. I have included some dialogue but these sections are during instrumental-only parts of the song and I've layered the audio a lot better than in the previous video. It gets a little bit repetitive because there were only a limited amount of scenes with these two characters together but I don't think I reused any exact shots.

Overall, it's a decent little video but I'm not sure why it's so high on the list. I don't have any explanation for why this one has done so much better than other videos I've made.

5th Place: Teaser Trailer: The Deal, 115,548

This was another fanfic trailer but for a fanfic I never actually posted anywhere. It's a short video, only a minute and a half long, teasing a story I never got far enough into to start putting online. I posted this video near the end of 2011 and like the one above, the years between it and some of the earlier ones of this list were clearly filled with a lot of improvement, but the success of this little video is baffling to me. It's fine as a piece of video editing but it's not great as a trailer because it doesn't give much of an indication about the fic. It's clearly meant to tease people and get them excited about the story I was working on... and never did anything with.

But why does this one have more than a hundred thousand views? It's not that it was linked to a fic because the fic was never posted anywhere to link back to it. I do not understand why this video has done so much better than others.

Videos 6 - 10

That was the last video with more than a hundred thousand views. The next view range between 60k and 90k. Two more general Power Rangers videos, one more Power Rangers fanfic trailer, A Perfect Body fan video, and a Firefly/Serenity fan video. The most recent of these was the Firefly video posted in 2009.

Is there a pattern?

It's obvious that most of my highest viewed videos are older ones. I can only assume that this is because the older videos have had more time to build up views. If I look for videos I've posted in the last five years, the first one I find is I Choose You a Class fanvid featuring the Charlie and Matteusz ship published in 2017. This has a respectable 39k views putting it in 17th place on my list but it's surrounded in the list by videos posted between 2007 and 2011.

The next one published in the last 5 years is a Teen Wolf video Heroes published in May 2015, with 19k views, in 25th place.

If I sort by date, most of the videos at the top of the list have a few hundred views, but there's an interesting pattern here. Videos for White Collar, Class, and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency do better than my Marvel videos. A lot better. Is it to do with the size of the fandom? There are loads of people making videos for Marvel movies so my poor Stucky video is down at 157 views unable to get noticed while not many people are making Dirk Gently videos so my Panto/Silas one has 3055.

But that can't be the only thing. I published a bunch of Voltron videos within a few weeks of each other in October 2016. The Shiro video I Will Remain has 847 views while Make a Man Out of You has 17k, and the Pidge video Robbed of Her Innocence that I was really proud of only has 953 views. So published time and fandom can't be the answers to the mystery because these are all the same fandom published within weeks of each other.

Conclusion

I have no friggin' clue why some of my videos do so much better than others. This makes no sense whatsoever. I give up. I'm just going to post whatever random stuff I come up with and some will magically do better than others with no pattern or logic.

And if you’re going to look at my fan videos, don’t sort by views because the most viewed videos are far from my best work.

Dawn of Destiny by Lee Stephen (science fiction/inspirational)

Some men go to war for the glory. Some men go to war to escape. For Scott Remington, war is entirely different. It is a belief. It is a calling. It is a destiny. Leaving everything behind-his fiancée, his future, his life-he embarks on a mission of faith into a battle he can barely understand. This is his story. This is his war. This is only the beginning.

I’ve been on a big scifi kick recently. Little by little, the unread scifi shelves are dwindling while my fantasy shelves cry out for attention. But not today, fantasy, for I must read more military scifi! I’m not satisfied yet! I need more!

Or this is the killer. Dawn of Destiny happened to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Scott Remington is amazing. Everyone will tell you so. A new Academy graduate in Falcon Platoon, Scott isn’t entirely sure why he’s fighting in the Alien War besides the fact he felt God led him there. From the get-go Scott is destined for greatness; he’s even chosen to be part of an elite operative team. It doesn’t take long for the fresh-faced privates to find themselves dropping into Chicago and engaging an army of Bakma. When his CO is hurt on the way to backup another unit, Scott takes charge of the operation and, when he saves the other unit, even finishes their job by disabling a Bakma carrier ship.

This gains Scott his first promotion. Plus a medal.

The next time Scott and his comrades are called to action, it’s more of a tactical mission. They’re tasked with disposing of a few necrilid in the dead of night. This gains Scott and his closest friends--Dave, Becan, and Jayden--a transfer to a new base: Novosibirsk. Everyone knows of the rumors surrounding the base but no one wants to believe they’re true.

Okay, no, I can’t do this. Let me give you the down-and-dirty details.

I wanted to like this book for the refreshing point of view. Most military scifi happens in space; it’s always about the navy and planet hopping. Here we finally have a book that focuses on Earth and ground troops. Unfortunately none of them are likable.

Scott is supposed to be a charismatic leader. Um, no, he’s just a zombie who the author can’t stand to hurt. The author wants everyone to love him. So Scott goes from location to location without any trouble. Sure, a few people cast a few mean looks his way, especially after he gets his medal because it’s usually awarded posthumously and definitely never given to recent Academy graduates, but everyone loves Scott. Everyone is envious of Scott.

David is cardboard. He’s forty years old, a fourteen year NYPD veteran; he should be interesting and bring experience to the table that twenty-something Scott is missing, but Scott is too busy being “amazing” for David to have a chance to shine. And Becan? He’s the sassy one. That’s it. That’s his entire purpose. Jayden is the sniper, so obviously he’s quiet and observant. Only towards the end does Jayden get a chance to breathe and it turns out he’s not actually interesting.

I’m not even going to touch the religious aspect because, honestly, it’s not worth it. Alright. It’s campy. It could’ve been decent, it could’ve been organic and interesting to explore in a setting with aliens, but instead it comes off preachy and campy.

My biggest issue with this book was it’s treatment of women. This book takes place in the “New Era.” The author could be bothered to create three different alien races, plus a few throwaway species, plus alien ships. But the tone is immediately set that women are useless in war. Any woman in uniform is automatically a medic. There are no women in command. Just a bunch of medics. I can’t even say if they have guns. Any time they’re on a battlefield they’re immediately shuffled off the page to attend to the wounded. Oh and guess what! All of the women (and by “all” I mean maybe the four or five that are mentioned) smile prettily and have engaging laughs and are drop dead gorgeous and cry all the time. In fact, two particular scenes stick out in my mind. In the beginning of the book, the CO of Falcon complains that women are in his platoon. And later, after the transfer to Novosibirsk, the CO of the Fourteenth (Scott’s new platoon) openly says the women are excluded from certain conversations because it’s “touchy.”

W H A T???????

The worst part is that this isn’t even rectified by the next few books. The second book sees two women killed so that Scott can have a revenge plot and gain more power. The third book sees another woman kidnapped so that Scott can save her.

Do you see an issue yet?

Look, I know not every book is written for me but I wanted to actually like this book. We finally had a bunch of rookies on the ground instead of highly trained marines or space battles. We finally have a (loosely based) military scifi that’s more about the bond between squadmates instead of the action. So much of it reminded me of Gears of War, which happens to be one of my favorite series. The scene at the high school--where the characters are in the dark, scared, hunting for these insect-like aliens--was so tense and good that I thought maybe things were getting better.

But the horrible treatment of women, and Scott’s terrible Gary Stu Syndrome, make this a horrible slog. Not to mention the constant grammatical errors. Sometimes it’s an uphill battle against comma splices, unnecessary descriptions, a thousand and one paragraph breaks (there are seven on one page. WHY DO WE NEED SEVEN DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW ON ONE PAGE!!), and homonyms. Where were the editors?

By the end of the book I was just glad it was over. Scott jumped ranks so quickly that he was an officer by the end, or whatever passes for officer in this military structure. I get it, Scott, you’re the greatest, the best ever, so full of charisma, nothing can hurt you. I can only hope God saves you from your Gary Stu Syndrome.

Daybreak (Netflix, 2019)

There’s no easy way to describe Netflix’s new show Daybreak. It’s part teen drama, part teen rom-com, and part post-apocalyptic nightmare. The best way to describe it, as many professional journalists have, is teenage Mad Max meets Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Now, I’m not a fan of Mad Max or anything to do with the apocalypse or post-apocalypse and yet, I found myself drawn to this story — mostly because I wanted my brother and dad to stop pestering me to watch it. I was surprisingly shocked when the pilot captured my attention and willed me to press that “next episode” button Netflix. Yep, I was hooked.

Daybreak is an adaptation from a graphic novel of the same name written by Brian Ralph. The tv series which was created by Brad Peyton and Aron Eli Coleite, tells the story of Josh Wheeler who is on a quest to find his girlfriend (ex-girlfriend?) Sam Dean in the aftermath of the apocalypse that left only teenagers (and 10-year-old girls?) alive.

With no adults to bring order to the town of Glendale, the high school students do what they do best — create cliques. The cliques, or tribes as they’re referred to in Daybreak, are all controlled by one dominate tribe — The Jocks. Sounds like high school, doesn’t it?

Our protagonist, Josh, has decided the best way to survive the apocalypse is to keep to himself, avoid all tribes and not be a dick. Except, he doesn’t want to be completely alone. No, he wants and needs to find his true love, Sam Dean. Of course, hunting down your true love in a town you’re relatively new too and that’s crawling with Ghoulies (Daybreak’s version of zombies — who are all adults who repeat their last sentence over and over again) is not an easy task for a loner. Despite, his better judgment Josh does end up cultivating his own tribe of sorts out of the misfits roaming around Glendale. Together they form the tribe Daybreaks.

Get the gist? Good.

Now, here’s Dani’s Desk review of Daybreak.

Spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution.

Favorite Episode: Episode 2 — “Schmuck Bait!”

While I admit the pilot was interesting, the only reason I tuned in to the second episode was because of the cliffhanger in the pilot. Episode 2 is what really got me hooked on this show because I wanted to learn more about our core characters.

This is the episode where we start to understand who our characters are. We get to see Josh begrudgingly start to bond with his former bully Westly, who has taken on a new outlook on life that has to lead him to become a rōnin searching for redemption, an Angelica, the 10-year genius and pain-in-the-ass Josh occasionally babysat. Also added into this found-family mix, is Eli Eli Cardashyan (yes, it’s pronounced the same way. No, they’re not related) who has claimed the Glendale mall as his own sanctuary and is not happy about the other’s presence. And I can’t forget about the “Witch” who is better known as former-biology teacher Ms. Crumble who has somehow survived the apocalypse and isn’t a total Ghoulie like the rest of the adults in Glendale.

What’s so special about this episode is that we get a sense of who these characters are and the struggles they’ve been facing on their own. Let’s face it, no one wants to be alone especially in a post-apocalyptic world that run by teenagers. It also really sets up the different stories that are going to be explored over the course of the 10 episodes.

This episode is the starting point. The characters are nervous around each other. Some still want to be alone (Josh), others desperately want to belong to a tribe (Angelica) and some just want their mall back (Eli). This is the episode that sets up the before so that the conclusion, in the end, will show us that these characters have undergone a change.

Least Favorite Episode: Episode 10 – “FWASH BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

This is the final episode of the series and honestly, it should be my favorite. Obviously, it’s not. Is there action? Yes. Is there a resolution? Yes. The biggest problem I had with this episode was that it didn’t answer any questions.

Daybreak poses lots of questions over the 10 episodes. Who started the nuclear bombing? Why did only teenagers (and Angelica) survive? Is it the same everywhere? Why did the adults turn into Ghoulies? Why didn’t Ms. Crumblr or Mr. Burr turn into Ghoulies? With so many questions, it’s an unfortunate disservice that the conclusion of Daybreak doesn’t answer one of these pressing questions.

Favorite Character: Ms. Crumble / The Witch

For viewers of this show, this might be a shocking surprise. Ms. Crumble certainly wasn’t destined to become anyone favorite’s character. If anything, she was the comedic C plot to an already comical and dramatic a and b plot. And yet, here I am declaring her my favorite character.

Ms. Crumble is intriguing because she’s unlike any character we’ve ever seen before. Josh is basically this decade’s Ferris Bueller. Angelica is a modern Hit-Girl. Ms. Crumble is something totally different.

She’s also the character that really sticks to her values and inequity. Every other character slips up. Josh becomes a dick. Westly plans to kill despite his road to redemption. Even, Angelica gives up on her goal of creating a tribe with Josh and Westly by her side. Ms. Crumble, though, never goes back on her word. She has a few close calls but it never happens. She never eats a child.

What’s even more interesting is she could have been like Principal Burr. She had every reason to turn on the teenagers who tormented her for years and forced her to change her name to Ms. Crumble, but she doesn’t. She loves kids. She wants to help kids. Even with a blood-thirsty urge to consume her former students, she doesn’t.

She also has the single greatest line of dialogue I have ever heard. “My shit is like a Health Valley granola bar that feels solid, but when you open it up, there’s shit everywhere.”

Don’t get me wrong, she does have some faults — like her involvement with Principal Burr before the apocalypse, but her highs far outweigh her lows.

Least Favorite Character – Samira “Sam” Dean

Yeah okay, I know what you’re thinking. Shouldn’t Baron Triumph/Principal Burr who killed and ate students for no reason or Turbo who killed classmates out of jealousy and rage be your least favorite character? Probably. Don’t get me wrong their terrible characters, but they’re not necessarily terribly written which is why my least favorite character is golden girl Sam Dean.

Sam Dean is a textbook manic pixie dream girl. For most of the story, she’s MIA leaving us only to see her as Josh sees her. So maybe my statement is a little unfair. It’s not that she’s a manic pixie dream girl, it’s just that Josh sees her as one. But that’s not the only problem.

Sam Dean is Principal Burr’s go-to student. She’s the self-proclaimed “human sorting hat” when it comes to figuring out where kids belong in the social circles of high school. She’s the nice girl on campus and the it-girl after she makes a viral video of her randomly complimenting her classmates.

But is she really the nice girl we think she is? No, she’s not.

She lashes out at Josh and blames him for her new homecoming queen status since he’s the one who posted her video that went viral. Why else would she have asked him to film it if she didn’t want it to be posted?

She lets Baron Triumph out because she’s convinced he’s the one who can bring order to the students — despite the fact that he’s the one who’s been eating them!

And to top it all of, she goes around whining that no one knows who she really is but doesn’t bother to show them who she really is. Even Josh, her boyfriend who claims he’s in love with her, doesn’t get to know the real Sam Dean.

So yeah, Sam might be Josh’s manic pixie dream girl but she’s also her own manic pixie dream girl. Clearly, she has an idea of who she is that no one else does.

Since no one knows who the hell Sam Dean is, not even herself, her ending is confusing and slightly shocking. Is that who the real Sam Dean is?

Complaints:

Lack of answers.

Again, I don’t understand how a show that presents so many questions can leave so many unanswered. We literally do not know why anything is happening or how it’s happening. I get it, writers want to leave things open for a second season and we need cliffhangers. While that is the truth, they still could have answered at least one question.

And yeah okay, there’s Principal Burr’s crackhead theory that the teenagers are the only ones who survived because they got their HIV vaccine but it’s played for laughs. I certainly didn’t take it seriously. Nor would I be happy if that truly was the reason why all the teenagers were able to survive.

What’s the deal with Turbo? How did his face get messed up? Why doesn’t he talk? When he does talk, he bleeds, why?

Exceptions to the Rules.

Daybreak does an amazing job of establishing the world we are now in and the rules for that world in the first episode. And then, we’re presented with all these exceptions to the rules without an explanation.

If Jayden Hoyles was held back several times in high school, wouldn’t he be an adult? If he’s an adult he should be a Ghoulie. Why isn’t he? I certainly don’t know because it’s never even addressed.

What about Angelica? She’s just a 10-year-old kid. How did she survive? Are their other kids out there trying to survive without their parents? What about babies?

How about Principal Burr and Ms. Crumble? They were both adults that survived the apocalypse. And yet, they’re nothing like each other. Yeah, Ms. Crumble comes to the conclusion that she’s the way she is because she has suffered a traumatic brain injury but is that the truth? Regardless, how are they able to continue to survive?

The reason for the Nuclear War is never addressed.

It seems like a disservice for the show to not even mention or even search for the reason why the nuclear war occurred. Yes, the kids know it was all the adults’ fault but what caused it? Given the times we are currently living in, it would have been fun and interesting to see the kids come up with ideas on why the war started that parallel things happening in the real world.

Direct Addresses.

I’ll admit at first I was skeptical of the extent that Josh broke the fourth wall. It was a carbon copy of Ferris Buller’s Day Off (and even borrowed some of his taglines) and seemed like a crutch the writers’ used to explain what was going on. Thankfully, it moved away from a crutch and became an amazing device.

I really loved that each character got their own version of a Fourth Wall Break that fit their personality. Josh had the standard, Ferris Buller one. It fit his character and eased us into this device in a way we were comfortable with. Our resident wild child and wannabe gangster Angelica took a different approached and borrowed from mob movies by narrating her episode with voiceovers. Westly’s episode was narrated by Rza, the de facto leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, and relied on Japanese animation to help get his point across. Ms. Crumble used flashbacks in the form of a zany multi-cam format to get her story across and Turbo addressed the camera directly relying on doodles on screen since he is mute.

Soundtrack.

Simply put, the soundtrack was amazing. Go stream it on Spotify!

Overall, Daybreak was entertaining but the conclusion left me annoyed and wishing for at least an hour of my time back. The series certainly ends with a hope for a season 2 but I’m not sure if I’d be invested enough to tune in.

Episode #4: "I made James quit accidentally because I rigged a random.org" - Brian

So.... BC quit. Don't know why (and I am not gonna enquire, I just know he is hella busy). But ya I don't know what this means going forward but im gonna roll with it. If i'm not flexible, then that is not a good winner. so ya looking forward toi see whatever happens, and if Madigan go to tribal again, all i know is that i will still be safe cause james and I will just get Keaton involved

I’m SHOCKED BC quit because I thought I was going home lmao so now I have no idea what the hell is gonna happen I’m praying we swap tbh so I can meet up with Brian or Bryce who I know sbsbsbs.

Okay I'm super sad BC quit. They seemed like such a sweetheart. And I always hate to see anybody quit. I'm usually kind of annoyed about quitters but I hope BC is all good and it was just because they were busy... :(

This game has been really good to our tribe. We havent gone to tribal. I have a majority alliance of 4. Everyone is active and does 100% on the challenges. Its been good. Havent had much luck in idol hunt tho so probably someone already found it. Still nervous for the challenge. I want to keep winning but the bad thing in the eyes for the other tribe.

The game is always changing... and someone quitting just shows how quickly everything can change in the game. Plans set forward destroyed... alliances ruined just due to what the game might throw at you at any given time. It’s always scary but you know what... sometimes you gotta look at something bad and say hey let’s test my gameplay a little bit... that is what I’m good at and that is what I plan to do!

So we have swapped. and im not with james. This is hateful huh. first bc quitting today and now this. fuck this. and im with marie and keaton as well. ffs. oh well. time to get socialising and do this shit!

I KNEW A SWAP WAS COMING!!! I felt it deep in my bones. Do sharks have bones? I actually don't think they do. Oh well. I KNEW IT WAS HAPPENING. Obviously I'm super nervous now because I was in a great spot before. But luckily I still have my #1 Brian. And Charlie who is a part of my Four of a Kind alliance and he has an idol. Plus Anna and I hopefully can work together like we have in other games. I just hope she trusts me. Ugh and I freaking hope we win this challenge. Because OG Dinah members definitely have a target as the last intact tribe. SO much is going on in my little gay brain.

Okay my brain is going a mile a minute with this swap. I'm reconnecting with Anna. She seems excited to see me and she told me she isn't super close with Jayden or Nick so that's amazing. I told Brian about Charlie's idol. So this is good. We're surviving.

Ok so Klick quit which is kinda upsetting cuz I was grinding tf outta that challenge and I lowkey played a game with him about a year and a half ago and kinda wanted to reconnect. Although I am in the minority right now based on tribal lines, Nathan is someone I've wanted to work with for like eons, and I feel so much more comfortable with him on my tribe than James and letting Annabelle hold my fate in her hands. I think I have an upward battle, but I know Charlie has the idol and will warn Sharky in the case I need Charlie to use it on himself. The two from my OG tribe I got stuck with is by far the only two from Dinah that I would go out of my way to protect in this game and knowing Charlie has the idol... ugh... I don't even have to DO anything and tea gets served to me. Love Sharky.. love Charlie.. love Nathan... can't wait to thrive in this game now!

So the swap, i thought would have been really bad for us original dinah people but so far it looks like we might pull through. Okay so this challenge was...a disaster. I asked everyone to just do the song and then I'd make it look good with editing. That didn't work out. And I had more trouble editing than i thought. I feel like I dropped the ball and I'm not sued to being someone holding my tribe back. I tried to hide our bad lipsyncers. Charlie got sick. And something happened in the rush of uploading it that gave me a weird crop and a couple of cuts that I screwed up but I ran out of time. I'm feeling really disappointed in myself.

Okay we lost. This sucks. two of the judges called out the edit/effort specifically so that doesn't feel great. But I'm going to look at this as a positive. Maynor and Dennis stay safe on the other tribe. And Now I can use this to make some real connections and alliances on this tribe. Like Chad Michaels I will rise from the ashes and be the gayest winningest phoenix you have ever seen.

So we lost the challenge, but I don't feel too... bad about that. I mean if I go home, clearly I fucked the fuck up and felt too confident... but I think that I feel... good?

Firstly, thank you to the judges for recognizing my SNAP in the lip sync. I wasn't sure they were going to do my rap in the challenge, so I'm glad it was in there hehe... Now... going to tribal is a part of the game and the strategy has been lacking up till now, so I'm excited to jump in and finally explore that part of the game. It'll be a nice start to my resume, following accidentally make James quit LMFAO.

Right now, I think I'm in a solid spot. Nick said he wouldn't vote for me and I mean.. we haven't talked much, but I expect him to not lie for no reason... and I'm going to make sure to increase our conversation and expand on what HE wants to happen to just have that tea under my belt. I think Jayden is who I would like gone, and I think I'd be able to gather the votes to get that to happen. It's not like I have anything against him personally, but I just feel it's hardest to talk to him because him and I are not alike from what I've gathered. I'm the uber gay and for the uber gay and the Travis Scott fanboy to get along? Would be shocking.

I like Annabelle and Nathan a lot and I don't think they'd throw votes for me. I have my little final 2 deal going on with Nathan, but highkey I don't think I'd keep him as my #1 over Marie, if I get to the point where I meet with her, so I have no problem cutting him or Annabelle in the future. I do think it'd be better to work WITH them, especially for now, and I think they feel similar sentiments, but I don't know for sure!

But now we come to the real people I would like to protect going into this vote, Charlie and Sharky. I love my OG Dinah babies so much, and I will make sure their names aren't the targets of this vote. I think Sharky has set himself up well, and since he told me Charlie has the idol, I think we should especially be OK. I also think Annabelle and Nathan seemingly want to work with us, so .... whew...

ALSO, this is a mid-confessional update, but 2 alliances were formed. We have the "Tea Party" alliance with Sharky, me, and Nathan (the gays) and then the "Dinah Dudes" alliance with Charlie, Sharky, and me (OG Dinah's) and then I think another sub-alliance with the "Tea Party" and Annabelle is coming to fruition, so kjHDKAS... ya... I think I'm SET. I can't wait to wreck shit!

So we swapped tribes and here I am with 3 from my original tribe, 3 from the other tribe and Bryce from the third tribe. Bryce and I know each other, and by that I mean I just blindsided him another org... oops! Hopefully he doesn’t come after me but who knows because I literally did not participate in this challenge at all! We still won though so hopefully I’ll get to redeem myself in the next one

So the tribe lost and I’m a bit nervous because I’ve only heard one name... I would have loved to saved my idol until I needed it but I think it’s very likely my name could be the second one going around... we shall see what happens though.

Ugh okay so I was hoping for a simple easy vote. But as usual there is just a little bit of drama. Nick told Anna/Nathan that he has a legacy advantage to be used at F13/F6 which is trash because that means if we lose next time he'll use that and be safe. But if we vote him out he'll gift it to Jayden and we have the same problem. Plus Charlie is wigging out because he has a bad feeling about the vote, which is totally fair because he isn't talking very much. And Nick told Anna her name got thrown out which is just untrue. This is just kind of messy and not in a cute way.

Its a tribe swap and yay! I’m with the two people I’ve actually talked strategy with, Dennis and Sammy. However, I am with Vi, who is not my favourite person, i’ll try for the clean slate and all that is my philosophy but she has a history of being a snake, if an ineffective, goat-esque snake.

Ok lost post but I haven’t confessed since the swap so: ok so the tribe swap has me shook. Thank Zeus that I’m still with Jay and Ford. Zach and JG are also on this tribe but I don’t think they like me. I messaged Zach and he responded with ‘👀’ which was funny asf but also. how do I respond to that. Drew and nick both had conversations with me so I don’t feel completely rejected. Jay and I have been sharing idol hunt stories and we’re pretty sure that all idols have been found so I’m scared to idol hunt, all I’ll find is disadvantages and I don’t want that. The word search comp was a lot of fun ?? I didn’t know any of the words so it was really panicky but I think I did okay. I really hope that we win this comp because. I hate tribal?? I’ve only lived 2 tribals ever because I’m a dumbass so.

This tribe is...interesting. Zach and Dylan R, despite being my sons, are a lil snakey. I see their rat boy sides, respectfully. Dylan just never lets me live tbh. But Zach and I were talking about the tribe and he mentioned wanting to blindside Drew at some point, and I was like Yeah Makes Sense and he goes "so if you could convince people to do that it would be great!" BINCH. I'm not your minion yet, don't give me tasks. So I have to keep him around to throw under the bus at some point lol. I think I'll try to get Bodhi out first since everyone else on the tribe I think I can work with.

Ayyy. Lets go guys. I found an idol. The first time I ever found one in a survivor game. Lets see how long I can hold onto it, before i either get blindsided or waste it out of paranoia. Imagine how nutty it would be if I had 2 idols by now. DARN YOU STEPHEN!!!

I’d love to get crow on board to work with my old tribe mates, none of the others really talk to me much. Thats not to say if a better offer comes up I wont take it, I’m considering tryig a less loyal game plan.

So far Dennis is my closest ally in this game, but I’ve been working hard to make sure I dont stand out as a player and an alliance maker. I also have talked to Crow a lot and really like him, would love to work with him. Dennis wants to work with Roxy and Sammy which I am cautious about, but now isn’t the time to play the game too hard. I’ll work with them for now while getting closer to others and then make my move, theres a lot of players in this group I have to make sure I’m not left behind or blindsided.

Nick sweetie I like you but 2 hours omg im beyond shook. I don’t want him going so that’s chill but I would be lying if I said I didn’t laugh omg. I’m.... kinda glad we lost? In a way?? The other tribe has a 4-3-1 where as our tribe is 3-3-2 so. In a way this is better?? I’ll probably be eating these words when I get evicted tomorrow but oh well.

Drew is really nice and we have great conversations !! But I know his history so of course I’m wary talking with him. He’s good at grilling for info while also being guarded, so talking with him about the vote worries me. If I say the wrong thing I feel like he could turn the votes against me. I thought this vote would be easy but Drew telling me that him and the red team aren’t close worries me because I know that they’re in an alliance. Drew is still really cool & nice but paranoia is a bitch !!!

I did the math, because I’m a nerd, and Zach needed a score of 16 minutes in order to tie. Honestly not the dudes fault ,,, we woulda lost anyway even if he did well. Just thought I’d say that

I'm really glad our tribe won. We ended up bonding a lot over a long discussion in the tribe chat, and I want to build with that with the people who I had most in common with, like sammy. I feel I need to socialize more because no one really approached me in a bit. I know we aren't a tribal but I feel like I should be approached anyway.

FINALLY I'm headed to tribal! I really need to go to at least one tribal pre-merge just so I can see where the heads are at and how people act under pressure. So far I've learned that Zach is the most Rat Boy person I've ever met. ZACH, I TOLD YOU AFTER KALOKAIRI THAT YOU NEED TO LEARN TO TONE IT DOWN. TONE IT DOWN. Dylan R too, to be honest. They're both just WAY TOO STRATEGIC. Like learn some subtlety, kiddos. Dylan R literally said 'we really need to get out Bodhi' to me and Zach asked 'Why doesn't Bodhi like you?' unprompted and is also roasting Drew every .4 seconds. I mean yes it's refreshing since I'm so used to playing with crusted over community people like.....myself. But also, I'm tired. I don't want to play the game as a rat herder, trying to stop Rat Zach and Rat Drew from biting each other's heads off. (If you're reading this post-season, just know I view you all as very strong players, and I bestow the title of rat lovingly, as I myself am 100% a rat). On the plus side, there are LOTS of juicy meat shields in this game. As annoying as it's going to be to deal with the inevitable Zach vs. Drew ego war, at least I know their conflict is going to keep me out of the spotlight hopefully long enough to make late merge. I need to stay as UTR as possible as long as possible, and this cast might make that easy for me. I'm just thankful I have JG. He's one of my best friends, and I know we can trust each other going forward.

Oh god I went so hard my last game and now this game i’ve Idol searched once and confessed once lmao. Ummm...not a very interesting game so far. No one’s flipped. No ine’s Been shady. Very clean cut. I’m playing with some Kalokairi peeps so that’s fun and fresh, but other than that there hasn’t been much. That’s probably why I haven’t confessed at all 😂.

I thought that this vote was gonna be easy but talk of an idol has sent people into a frenzy. Personally, if an idol gets played it won’t be the end of the world for me so I’m not... too scared ? Inb4 I get blindsided but it should be either bodhi or nick going.

Welp, the vote has flipped to Nick. Usually that would make me scramble to get it back where I want it, but this game I'm not strongarming any players, and I'm going with the "anyone but me" strategy. So whatever! If everyone can unanimously vote against an inactive player, that works.

This might be me being cocky. But I can not believe that 12 minutes was actually the fastest time. I am happy that I am not going to Tribal council. And I'd like to keep it that way as long as possible, but still... 12 minutes? Mhm.. Maybe the other tribe threw on purpose to get certain players out... who knows!

Welp I really wanted Nick gone because of that score, sorry bud but it is about tribe strength but everyone was saying let's vote Bodhi. Being/feeling on the bottom even though I have some relationships with people like Dylan, Drew, and Jay , I still did not feel secure in my position in this game. During the afternoon, I realized it was extremely stupid to target and get rid of Bodhi who would most likely be loyal to me and have my back over some of these other folks. So I talked to Jay and planted the seeds of actually voting out Nick instead of Bodhi. I went to Bodhi saying that we could potentially flip this and told him who needed to talk and and who to target to save himself which was obviously Nick. I wanted Nick out the moment those results came out and if he goes home, I will take claim to this for pulling this off, this will potentially really keep Bodhi as a number for myself and not rock too many boats.

wow shook i didn’t do the worst at the word search....why do all of my friends gotta be in the game w me. Demons lose spearhead for the rest of the season

MELBOURNE'S finals hopes have been dealt a major blow with spearhead Jesse Hogan to miss the rest of the season. She flicked her tail, telling him to come forward. He looked down and padded towards her. Featherkit giggled and jumped towards the medicine den. At least Blackkit is getting scolded, Blazekit thought, sighing. She flicked her ear at Marigoldsong talking to Adderstar. "This is exciting! Im expecting kits!" she meowed happily, flicking her tail. Swiftclaw purred and wrapped his tail around her. "Woo-hoo! New kits! Isn't that exciting?" Blackkit said, jumping up and down. Blazekit look around, obviously annoyed. Blackkit flicked his tail and smiled at Blazekit. "I said, isn't this exiting?" Blazekit rolled her eyes. "Yea, so exciting!" She said, sarcastically. Blackkit jumped and ran to the nursery. When are they going to grow up? She thought. She slowly made her way down to the leaders rock and lied down, bathing herself in sunlight. Littleheart frowned at her all alone. He made his way up to her and purred. "Want anything?" He asked. Blazekit jumped up and widened her eyes at him. She let out a huff of air and glared at him. Featherkit walked in and yawned. She soon lied down next to Blazekit and purred, her silver and black striped tail flicking in the sunlight. Blackkit soon followed and went on the other side of Blazekit and fell asleep. Blazekit purred and Gingerflame walked in. She smiled softly and lied down next to her three kits. She wrapped her tail around them and purred.

Adderstar made his way up to the rock and felt the wind rush into his fur. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath this highrock for a clan meeting!" Blackkit awoke with the sound and rushed outside, followed by Featherkit. Blazekit slowly followed her and Gingerflame padded alongside Blazekit. Adderstar looked around and smiled at the three kits. He nodded at them. "Blackkit, Blazekit, Featherkit, come forward." He said with a flick of his tail as the kits came up to him. Featherkit had her silvery pelt all shiny and clean, Blackkit had his pelt all spiky, Blazekit just had her fur clean and Golden. "These kits are ready to become apprentices." he looked at Blackkit. "Until this day forward, until he has received his warrior name, he shall be known as Blackpaw." Blackpaw flicked his spiky tail and smiled. "Your mentor will be Jayden. He might be a former rogue, but his skills are unique. he will pass down his skill to you so you can teach them from seasons and seasons to come." Blackpaw purred softly and went to touch noses with Jayden. "Until this day forward, until she has received her warrior name, she will be known as Blazepaw." She flicked her striped tail and then licked her pelt clean. Adderstar looked around and lowered his head. "Your mentor will be me. I will teach you all the skills I have and one day you might end up as leader." Blazepaw looked up at Adderstar and gasped. She then touched noses with him and backed away. "Featherkit, you have chosen the life of a medicine cat." He nodded towards her. "Owlwing will teach you all she knows about healing." Blazepaw looked at him worryingly. "Your new name will be Featherpaw until you have received your medicine cat name." he jumped off the rock, followed by Featherpaw and Blazepaw. Featherpaw quickly went over to Owlwing while Blazepaw went over to Adderstar.

A yowl sounded from the nursery. Owlwing flicked her tail at Featherpaw, who was carrying a stick, and ran to the nursery with herbs. Marigoldsong is having kits!, Blazepaw remembered. She jumped up and smiled at Blackpaw who was carrying prey from an evening hunting patrol. He dropped the frog on the prey pile and ran over to Blazepaw. "What's happening?!" he sounded nervous as a loud moan came from the nursery. "Marigoldsong. She's having her kits." she flicked her tail and smiled at Blackpaw. Blackpaw licked his fur, trying for it to lie down, but it wouldn't. He purred at Blazepaw and wrapped his tail around her.

Carlton have confirmed the devastating news that star midfielder Patrick Cripps broke his fibula in Sunday’s loss to Melbourne.

Cripps will not require surgery, despite scans confirming the on-baller had sustained the fracture in a freak second-quarter incident in which Demons defender Jayden Hunt kicked Cripps in the back of the leg as Hunt tried to kick the ball.

The tough West Australian won the club’s best and fairest in his second season of 2015 and is seen as one of the AFL’s brightest young stars.

Carlton’s head of football Andrew McKay said that the fact Cripps would not need surgery was a silver lining. “It’s obviously very disappointing for both Patrick and the club, but he will make a full recovery well before the start of the 2018 pre-season campaign,” McKay said.

“[It was] really bad luck. Obviously he was just trying to spoil that ball and got the kick in the back of the leg. So very unfortunate. One we hadn’t seen for quite some time.”

McKay also confirmed that veteran utility Simon White needed further scans on a knee injury after going down late in the second quarter after a seemingly innocuous knock from teammate Levi Casboult. “Simon’s got a knock to the knee, he’s off to see a specialist this afternoon, and we’ll know more then,” McKay said.

White is out-of-contract at season’s end. The Blues are expected to know more about his condition by Tuesday morning.

Down to just two men after the long break against Melbourne, the Blues fought on valiantly, leading into time-on of the last quarter before conceding a pair of late goals to lose by eight points.

Carlton are already without tagger Ed Curnow and defender Caleb Marchbank, both of whom are about three weeks away from returning from injuries, while tall backman Sam Rowe is out for the season. Positively though for the Blues, defenders Tom Williamson and Alex Silvagni are both due to return this week following recent injuries.

The Blues (5-10) face the struggling Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Sunday.

Carlton coach Brendon Bolton had been philosophical following the loss to the Demons. “Sometimes those who have grown up with hardship, difficult circumstances, if they’re determined and they reflect enough, they end up becoming quite successful in life. There’s many a story like that. In a funny way, that’s our footy club right now,” Bolton said.

Episode #3: "i told him i loved sicko mode( which i dont)" - bryce

Today no one has been online so our tribe has been quiet. But we have our alliance together so thats good.

John is gone? Good. I don't want to work with anyone who chooses Boston Rob as an avatar. No thank you.

Okay so this challenge is interesting...it really could be anybody's game. Luckily I know Brian is really good with music so I'm hoping that will come in handy for us. Other than that who tf knows. I just hope we stay safe.

This music video challenge is really hard. Hopefully we could pull another win and stay safe again. It would really suck if we would lose this challenge.

so I just woke up. like ~ 6-7 hours after the challenge announcement. AND THESE FREAKS ARE ALREADY DONE. WTF LET ME HELP.

no no. For real. I am so happy, I am not used to a tribe working this well together in challenges. I am SO SO HAPPY

We actually just murdered the challenge. We finished it in like less than 12 hours. We are beasts at these challenges. I just really hope that we got them all right because that gives us a great shot at winning. Even if we lose I'm in a great spot with Four of a Kind and Nicole is an obvious first boot. But I would still love to keep this win streak going for a little while.

I swear, I go offline for one night... I come back and literally EVERY song is done... I mean go on carry me to immunity thats fine.

So the last couple of days has been quiet since we did win immunity again, but I do have some tea to spill in here, and I love spilling tea hehe...

So I got nothing from my trip to Wonderland, but that's OK! I'd rather get nothing then get something bad for my game. In addition to that, though, the more juicy ish is that Sharky told me that Maynor is trying to get a group together of the 4 men not including me (or Nicole, obviously). He probably already succeeded in that, but I do know, based on what Sharky said, that their first target would be Nicole followed up by me. "It's not that Maynor doesn't like you, because he does, but he just thinks this is the group." Maynor better hope that I don't swap with him because I do not mind having to flip on his ass and send him home at this point. I'd love to stick to tribal lines and think I could find comfort in them if we swap, but I also literally don't care if I wasn't included in an alliance.

So while I know I have Sharky with my back and Maynor not with it at all, that still leaves Charlie, Nicole, and Dennis. Nicole doesn't really talk much to anyone, so I'm kinda just gonna sneak in over the next 24 hours and make sure to solidify something with her so that I could work with her if need be. Dennis and I talk from time to time, but I think if I can play on the fact that we both play League more, then I can solidify something with him... and Charlie and I talked about something between the two of us already, so I feel good there, but he didn't warn me about the Maynor alliance thing, so I know he doesn't trust me fully yet (which, might I add, just shows how I have to keep him at a distance). I feel like if we can win this challenge and potentially swap next round, I will so amazing... because I might swap onto a tribe with a bunch of amazing people that will help me kill some of these annoying hoes on my current tribe (I'm looking @ you, Maynor). My tribe's kinda hard to talk to, so I really need this... I need Marie... Godt... help me tf out because I am DYINNNGGG.....

I worked on videos 2 and 3 last night and almost finished it except like missing 2 songs. When i woke this morning, tribe finished all of video 1 and the 2 that i was missing. I really like our tribe, its really active and they work hard on the challenges. Going to be sad when there is a tribe swap, hopefully i get some of my alliance with me or Brian. Atleast someone i could work with.

Our spreasheets is being locked. I hope that we have the right answers. I really want to win again so hopefully we win immunity again.

Soooo I woke up and the tribe had finished our challenge before I even got to contribute....annoying because now if we lose I’ll be booted for not helping. Still I’m having fun even though I really only talk to Dennis and Charlie.

We won. Again. I wish I had something more interesting to say but I'm in a majority alliance, on a physically dominant tribe, I know who has the idol, and I'm feeling super comfortable. The only thing that worries me is an impending swap. In that situation idk what I would do…

O M G. We won by 1 point. I literally died and came back. Im so happy that we are safe again. Only thing is I’m nervous about us being ‘recommended’ to be online tomorrow. Maybe its nothing and I’m looking into it too much. Lets hope the swap is after one more vote. But who knows cuz it could be swapped into 3 tribes of 5.

okay so i forgot to mention but nathan has vote spy so wooh. also so i found a potion today and instead of being loyal and smart and gifting it to nathan since he hadnt guessed yet. i took it for myself and now have to wait another day to see if i get sth new. maybe itll work out maybe not. but we won tribal so um wooh. i kind of carried but im pretty sure i also put the wrong ellie goulding song so uh give and take NNN. still love nathan, nick is fun when hes on, annabelle talks for like 1 minute at a time but shes busy so hope we connect more, jayden... ignores me also i told him i loved sicko mode( which i dont) but his pfp was astroworld.. close enough. they were talking about rap in the chat so i changed my picture to amine and kevin abstract to try to get their attention but did not succeed KDAJFHKAJD one day ill bond…

I didn't even do the challenge and I feel like I'm going home because I've been really busy and barely active so I'm really sad. Hopefully I can get people like Matt or BC to save me.

Our tribe are such kings, yet another win!! Despite the happiness of being safe, I am kinda worried. If our entire tribe makes the merge it just makes us targets, and honestly I don't see the point. Nicole isn't really online much and from what I can gather it doesn't seem like anyone is closely allied with her.

Yes, what I'm saying is that we're considering, let's say, "Not putting our best effort" into this challenge. Dennis and I have talked about it already, and I do think it's for the best. You only have to look at the healers in HvHvH to see why it's not a good idea to always win!

I hope it's not a live trivia challenge. Cos I love those and it will suck if I have to not try my best on it.

One point... really? I had to log off because I needed to be up early in the morning. There are two people that did absolutely nothing for the challenge. They had 24 hours to do at least SOMETHING, and then we would have won. But no.

tbh the complete lack of giving a fuck on my tribe has left me super demotivated. I'm sick of staying up until 1am every night for this while others do fuck all. we're voting Marie because she's never around and hasn't contributed significantly to any challenge yet. sorry if you were expecting something more exciting than that.

so we lost the challenge. BY ONE FUCKING POINT. Like what is the point?? i slaved for ages looking for those videos, doing both videos 1 and 2 and some of 3. like hello tribe? please pull your weight? or like? I want you all gone? This vote thankfully should have a straightforward result, like marie is basically non existent and doesn't really try. The transcontinental trio have basically come to that consensus that it'll be Marie, so like it should be because we have a majority. Im praying for a swap HONESTLY.

Episode #1: “"So it's time for me to channel my inner-straight guy!" - Brian

is it time to die already? a fake tribe was taunted, the tribe is split half US half europe so that is going to be a pain, its 1:40am as i write this and in all honestly i just want to sleep and coast till merge. bet that won't be happening tho RIP me and dig me in a grave huh. Oh and I thought I knew the keaton but I didn't lol. I am MESS

It’s really good to be playing a game again. My goal for now is to try and bond with my tribe and hopefully make alliances to keep me in the game. Right now talking to Dennis. He seems really cool, wouldnt mind working with him.

So just from the start i can already tell these players I'm with are easy going for the most part... I over all really like the tribe and can see a very solid chance that I can work with a lot of them if not all! But for the sake of this confessional having value... I'd also like to add that I'm worried that due to the laid back tribe (atm) that I might have a hard time building the connections to get in an alliance without making it due to the fact making an alliance is a very bad idea early on!

Okay so let's just get some thoughts out of the way My tribe is...interesting. I LOVE BRIAN. Well actually I love his boyfriend but still a great foundation from my side to work with him because I know he is a super sweet guy. Dennis is weird. I want to work with Nicole just because I like to work with womana because it brings me closer to God. Everyone else is irrelevant. Absolem is okay. Nathan is hilarious. He better not flop because I want to be best friends. Annabelle is the love of my life. But we did just play an ORG together that got a little messy...so idk how willing to work with me she is. Jayden said things about sports so there is no chance of us being friends. And...everyone else is irrelevant. Madigan: I stan Matt. He had the best intro out of all of us. He's a nut and I love that. I thought I knew who he was...but it turns out he's a different Keaton...and now I'm confused by the popularity of that name...Anyways, BC be still my fucking heart in an ANGEL and I want to be friends. Marie is a star in my ORG community and I always stan her. So I lowkey love this tribe and I wish i was on it. Overall...I'm ready to get this game going.

Okay so i'm normally super good at Selfie Scavenger Hunts...but this one is tough. There are a lot of hard items on here. And because it's Day 1 I don't know if I can rely on anybody on my tribe to pull their weight...guess we'll find out.

Okay I jumped the gun on Dennis. He's not weird. And he seems like he'll be a good tribe member. Not too interested in working with him, but hopefully we win a bunch and that won't matter.

so the cast is cool so far from what i saw a mix of a few faces i recognize and a few i don't which is cool because i play best when i don't know anyone i think so we'll see how this goes hopefully we win immunity and there's nothing to worry about!!

Okay so I really might have judged my tribe too soon. Charlie is a drunken riot. And Maynor seems really chill too. We have a good group. Now let's just hope we're good in challenges.

So yay Selfie Scavenger Hunt. My favorite... I should be fine if I play a solid social game and dont score too low (right?) Also me and Nick same tribe we runnin this shit.

I like my tribe so far it's the most active tribe I have had by far. The challenge is pretty good though and I hope we can win it and be safe.

So day 1. This is... ahh... I'm so nervous for this game! I have been looking so forward to playing this, but I just feel like it's going to be a rocky upward battle to make it deep... I'm trying to relate and talk to these people, and I feel like I can maybe do it with some of them... but I also know I'm like "WIGGG" and "TEAAA" and "SHJDGJHDGJ" all the time, and I just don't know if this is the tribe to act like that around... I also don't really have anyone to fully confide and trust in. I do have people like Marie on the other tribe, but I just... ahh....

Ladies and gents, I want you to know that I refuse to go home pre-merge, and I will fight tooth and nail to make it to merge and then day 39... even if it requires me to grow up and act like a real human... I will do my best... I don't wanna let y'all down, but I also don't wanna let myself down.

So like after my antics last night, I feel like I am in a good shape. My intro amused many on my tribe which is good, and they all like me, which is EXTRA good! I feel like im on the cusp of something atm, but i am still wary of course. BC and James are my faves atm, with Marie and keaton also. But Marie, Keaton and john aren't really giving me anything but i am still gonna try. Im here to F****** win (or at least make jury but we shall see about that LOL)

idk what's up with this tribe. am I setting my expectations too high? did I do something to piss everyone off?? I just want to play survivor but no one seems to want to engage with me.

BC's the only reason I'm sane atm. he's a sweetheart, we've had a few fun chats already and he seems like good company. we've gotten on the same page and realized that we're probably the two chattiest players on the tribe and should stick together. Matt isn't awful. he's funny, and I can just meme at him most of the time and he seems fine with that. wish I could get a little more out of him though. I'll give Marie a pass because she's been legit busy and hasn't had much of a chance to respond to stuff. from what little I've heard from her she seems nice. apparently she's new to discord survivor just like me, so I might be a little biased in wanting her around. I wanted Keaton to be great - he's a Kirby, I'm a Kirby, so we already had something working for us. but he's not giving me anything to work with. I'll bring something up to talk about and he'll shut it down almost immediately, in a way that makes me worried I'm getting on his nerves or something. idk, maybe our personalities just clash? but atm with Keaton my mood is zzzzzz and then there's John. I get the impression that John just doesn't give a shit. he spent all of the first night playing skyrim and ignoring me, and he hasn't said much of anything to me today. his intro and his rant show that he knows how survivor works, so why isn't he putting any effort into talking? idgi. :/

soooooo yeah that's this tribe. BC and I have teamed up, we've talked about roping in Matt as a third sometime soon. I wanna give Marie a chance as well, even talking to her tonight she's not that bad. but I'd probably be fine with voting out Keaton whenever, and I want John to go asap.

I was called Keaton from Facebook and mistaken for Maria on my tribe. This game is going great for me so far.

So far making bonds with Brian, Charlie, Dennis, and Sharky (Matt). I genuinely like them. No game talk just yet. But i wouldnt mind alligning with them. Havent talk to Nicole yet. So i need to start. Hopefully we are good and win this first immunity.

Okay top of Day 2. We're plunking away at this challenge. It's weird because since we all have our own lists we aren't talking very much... Charlie, Nicole, and Maynor are still yet to upload anything so I hope they get it together soon.

Honestly I am REALLY happy where i sit in this game. I have a solid alliance of 3 with BC and James which is already good. I have a feeling we will end up at tribal, however I am not too worried because i feel like there will be some clear targets like Keaton or John. Marie is kind of laying in the middle but I know what a good player she can be so im keeping my eye on her.

but the little alliance we have going on is cute. <3 the name = Transcontinental Trio. It prob won't last (just being honest) but if it can get me past these few couple of rounds before the swap, I'll take it. my goal right now is to win these next few challenges and hope we don't have to go to tribal before the swap. if we do, I'd rather see john leave before keaton, because I think there's a relationship to work with keaton whereas I don't see one with john unfortunately

the tea that I have to spill is really just bitching about my tribemates I mean come the FUCK on y'all!!! wtf is the point of joining an ORG and then not talking to anybody. like does that make any fucking sense??? literally like... nnnn what is the matter with you? not to overreact but i want my entire tribe to go home. i had to PLUCK egg shells out of my VERY CURLY hair like i was some monkey picking ticks. i took an egg, a poor chicken would be, and used it not for nutrition. but for "fun". and its all for NOTHING. but thats ok. everyone keeps saying bc i carried i should be safe and like yes. but the REAL reason i should be safe is that its like im the only person on this tribe who wants to socialize at all!! also this idol system is so fun love choose ur own adventure type stuff. sad how i flopped first try tho.. but in 24 hours catch me with the idol! or catch me as first boot. someone just catch me im falling FAST.

This immunity is great because it gives me time to build better friendships without pressure of a vote. Charlie seems to like me, he wants to share idol guesses which is cool with me. That probably also means he'll tell me if he gets an idol which is powerful info to know. Also I won some cookies on my search. I hope they're oreos. But I'm curious as to what they'll be good for.

BC has brought me and Matt into an alliance (Transcontinental Trio!). BC is like the obvious alpha on the tribe and I’m kinda fine with that? At least I hope BC looks like a bigger threat than me, I don’t want that label lol. Matt is super charismatic, we’re finally talking regularly/about the game. He’s probably the scariest person on the tribe just because he’s so damn likable.

Keaton’s opened up a little. We bonded over thinking that we were the only ones hearing nothing from John lmao. Our first vote will probably wind up being Marie or John. I don’t want to push buttons too early, but if I get a chance at a clean shot at John I’m taking it.

We won the first challenge and I'm so happy because I could've been voted out if we lost! This is my first Tumblr org so I'm completely lost and I accidentally told Matt that I knew Bryce from the other tribe so yay... that put a target on my back I think so hopefully we just keep on winning!

I don't have too much to update on, but I'm so glad that we aren't going to tribal because highkey I'd be in so much trouble... I've been in an emotional rut so the communication has been rough.. but we won so I have time to enjoy my tribemates in some conversations and make them love me…

Wow so I gotta say I am seriously impressed by this cast. I don't really know anyone and there are only 2 other people from EM... is this for real lol?? Seriously though I'm so happy to finally be playing an org with so many new people!!

Ok so first impressions of my tribe. I've already embarrassed myself by sending drunk videos to every single member of my tribe bar Nicole who wasn't online at the time.

Dennis- Easily my fav so far. I feel like we click so well and I've already talked to him way more than anyone else. Really hope I can go far with him.

Brian- Ok so I've seen this guy around on facebook and he seems funny and really nice! Our convos have been fun so hopefully we can develop a good relationship from here!

Maynor- He likes Charlie the unicorn. Therefore I like him.

Sharky- Haven't talked to him so much yet, but he seems cool and I know he was an early boot in KC.

Nicole- Haven't talked to her yet at all.

Patrick Cripps will miss the rest of the season

CARLTON midfield star Patrick Cripps will miss the rest of the season with a fractured fibula.

Cripps copped an accidental kick to the back of his left leg when he attempted to smother Melbourne defender Jayden Hunt in the second quarter of Sunday’s game at the MCG.

Scans on Monday revealed he had suffered a fractured fibula but would not require surgery.

“It would usually be approximately a six-week injury which, given the timing, takes us through to the end of the season,” Carlton football chief Andrew McKay said.

“It’s obviously very disappointing for both Patrick and the club, but he will make a full recovery well before the start of the 2018 pre-season campaign.”

In other injury news for the Blues, defender Simon White has been diagnosed with a relatively minor medial ligament strain that will sideline him for three to four weeks.

White was injured in a marking contest late in the second quarter of the Blues’ loss to Melbourne on Sunday, when teammate Levi Casboult fell across his left knee. He did not return to the field.

The Blues were confident on Monday morning White had not damaged his ACL, but the defender had to undergo a second series of scans to determine the extent of his injury.

White had broken back into the Blues’ senior team in round 15 after a stint in the VFL, and now will be aiming to return before the end of the season when he is due to become an unrestricted free agent.

The 29-year-old has played 86 games in eight seasons at Ikon Park.

Match report: Last-gasp Dees deny Eagles

MELBOURNE has snatched a heart-stopping three-point victory and ended a 15-year hoodoo against West Coast in Perth, with one-time star defender Tom McDonald booting a miraculous goal in the final minute to clinch a thriller.

McDonald kicked his fifth major in the dying seconds as he was being tackled to the ground in the goalsquare by Jeremy McGovern, sealing a stunning 15.9 (99) to 14.12 (96) triumph for the brave visitors.

It was the 11th lead change of a pulsating contest, and in the desperate last seconds the Demons pushed all bar one of their players into defence as they held on without stars Jesse Hogan, Nathan Jones and Jack Watts.

“It was such a big moment there was only 20 seconds to go in the game,” Dees coach Simon Goodwin said of McDonald’s match-winner.

“To come back the way we did – with six minutes to go we were 16 or 17 points down – so the spirit of the group and their ability to keep going and find a way was really strong … there is enormous belief in the playing group.”

Saturday night’s epic was a major statement from Goodwin’s young Dees, who were led superbly by an inspirational Jack Viney, who finished with 38 disposals, 26 contested, nine clearances and one goal.

Despite copping a huge bump from Eagles skipper Shannon Hurn in the third term and clearly struggling with a sore right shoulder – which required treatment in the rooms – the tough nut returned to the action and led from the front.

Viney got one back on Hurn in the final minutes when he fairly flattened the big-bodied Eagle near the interchange gates.

Melbourne’s win improved the club’s record to 8-5 and for the first time since 2006 the Demons – up to fifth on the ladder – appear on track for September football.

It is also the first time in 11 years they have won four-straight games and Melbourne fans can dream of finals action.

The Eagles (7-6) will be kicking themselves after appearing to have the tight contest sewn-up in the final term.

West Coast led by 16 points nearing time on, but Melbourne surged and exorcised not only their demons in Perth, but also notched a first win over the Eagles in 10 attempts.

Viney was exceptional for the Dees in a hard-nosed midfield, which was well-serviced by returning ruckman Max Gawn (42 hit-outs).

Dom Tyson (33 touches), Jordan Lewis (29) and Clayton Oliver (27, eight clearances) – who worked through a tag from Mark Hutchings – toiled all night.

The Dees led by two points at quarter-time and five at the half-time siren, when tensions bubbled over.

Jeremy McGovern mowed down an unaware Jayden Hunt, who lost his headband in the tackle, as he was lining up a shot on the stroke of the siren, sparking retaliation from the Demons’ players.

The fracas petered out before erupting again when Eagles backman Will Schofield was reported for thrusting an elbow into Clayton Oliver’s chin.

Veteran recruit Drew Petrie almost lifted the Eagles to victory, winding back the clock with four goals in the absence of dual Coleman medallist Josh Kennedy.

McGovern kicked an equal-career best three goals, but was inaccurate with three behinds and one shot that didn’t score.

Ex-Hawks champion Sam Mitchell tried his best with 27 touches, while Lewis Jetta showed more encouraging signs with 22 possessions and youngster Liam Duggan (19) took another step forward.

The loss was the Eagles’ second in three games at their home fortress, and with a tough month to come Adam Simpson’s men are teetering on the precipice of the top eight.

“It was really disappointing the end result, obviously, so the boys are really flat,” Simpson said.

“We did a lot of right things throughout the day but we couldn’t hang on.”

Both teams will be counting the cost of the physical clash, and the Dees will monitor young gun Christian Salem who was icing his hamstring in the fourth quarter and Jeff Garlett (hamstring tightness).

MEDICAL ROOM West Coast: Shannon Hurn was walking around in the rooms after the game and the Eagles are hopeful he will be OK to play the Dogs next round.

Melbourne: Christian Salem and Jeff Garlett both finished the game on the bench with hamstring tightness. Jack Viney told AFL.com.au he was confident he will be right to take on the Swans next round despite a sore shoulder.

NEXT UP The Demons return to the MCG for their only Friday night game this season and will host Sydney in a blockbuster, while the Eagles are facing a critical away trip to Etihad Stadium – where they were blown away by the Bombers last time – against the Western Bulldogs.

Clock ticking for gun teen Sutherland

Will Sutherland has recruiters excited about his potential as an AFL footballer

AS WILL Sutherland prepares to play his first game for Vic Metro this weekend, the time is coming for the talented teenager to make a decision on which sport he will pursue professionally.

The 195cm key forward is expected to line up for Metro in its NAB AFL Under-18 Championships clash with Vic Country on Saturday at Punt Road Oval, which will be broadcast live on AFL.com.au from 11:55am.

Sutherland, the Australian under-19 cricket captain and son of Cricket Australia boss James, has been playing for Scotch College in Melbourne’s APS competition and training with Metro in recent weeks.

Regardless of his performance at the championships, Sutherland is expected to be among the prospects invited to the NAB AFL Draft Combine in October, when clubs submit their lists of preferred players for the week of testing at Etihad Stadium.

But under AFL rules, if a player is invited to attend a national or state carnival and does not go, they are ineligible to be drafted. It means Sutherland will need to make a call on his future before the end of this season, with the Combine being held days after the AFL Grand Final.

Clubs are hopeful he will play at TAC Cup level for the Sandringham Dragons after the championships and his season with Scotch finishes, with many believing he is among the top key-position players in this year’s draft pool. Some think he could even be a top-three pick should he choose football.

Recruiters believe the higher standard of school football this year means they can still get a good guide on the 17-year-old’s form.

“We rank him on all the criteria we rank every player we watch: his footy smarts, how he carries himself on the ground, his competitiveness, his skills, his athleticism,” one recruiter said.

“Obviously the only insight we’re getting now is watching school footy, but the standard of that this year, I’m sure most will tell you, has been OK and there’s been lots of good players playing. So that’s not been too much of a concern.”

The AFL has been careful not to place too much pressure on Sutherland as he weighs his future, but he took up its offer for him to train with Metro despite not being a part of a TAC Cup club.

He didn’t play for Metro in its win over Western Australia on Sunday at Domain Stadium.

Clubs have tracked Sutherland more closely since the start of this season, when it emerged that he could look to the football pathway despite his strong cricket links. Going to the NAB AFL Draft Combine would allow clubs to interview him as well as get him medically checked.

“There’s been no testing done on him, so it’s just a subjective opinion at this stage,” one scout said.

“We’re assessing his talent on what we’ve seen, but we need more data to do that fully. That’s why it’s important for him to play in the championships and then go to the Combine. He’s definitely on our board, which shuffles and moves all the time, but he’s on it.”

Recruiter: “Not necessarily if it’s going to deter him from nominating for the NAB AFL Draft. If he is going to nominate, he has to go to the Draft Combine.”

Recruiter: “I don’t really care too much. There’s no law that says you have to, so his case would probably be that he has strong school footy commitments and is busy with cricket as well. He may not need or want the extra pressure of playing in the TAC Cup.”

Recruiter: “I would like to see him play, but I don’t think he has to. Jayden Hunt and even Easton Wood didn’t play TAC Cup and were drafted so there’s a precedent for others who haven’t. It would be good to see him do it.”

When do you think he needs to make a decision?

Recruiter: “The timing of the decision has to be more about him than us. But he needs to do it as quickly as possible for himself. The sooner he decides, the better he’ll be at that sport. We’d probably want him to make his call by the end of the season, because a couple of championships games and a month of TAC Cup would be enough footy for us to see.”

Recruiter: “The AFL industry should get him in somehow and I wouldn’t be against a bending of the rules and test after the combine if that’s what he wants to do, or if he wants to decide after his exams. But he has to be open to clubs speaking to him and being medically checked and so on. They could allow for a bit of leeway when another sport is competing. It’s a perfect example why we should keep the draft age at 18, because if he had to wait another year he’d definitely choose cricket.”
