Ranger Rankings - Power Rangers Dino Fury

Now that I've managed to finish the season, time to resurrect this feature.

Bearing in mind that I started Dino Fury when the first like 5 episodes were out, and then watched literally every other series in between before Dino Fury finished, so this is probably going to be coloured a little by that fact.

Premise - 3

Honestly, I'm surprised the idea of fighting the bad guys for some finite resource (the Sporix) hasn't been done more often.

I suppose Operation Overdrive was close, with the whole Crown thing, and both it and Dino Fury fall into the same trap - the bad guys are always going to just steal them all directly from the Rangers so the actual divide of said resource between the good and bad guys feels a little arbitrary.

And the fact that Operation Overdrive made it more of a scavenger hunt rather than just a fight over and over again actually means it pips Dino Fury at the post.

Character Dynamics - 4

Surprisingly fun, actually, and I enjoyed how much the characters evolved over the season, specifically Ollie and Amelia, and not just because of the whole relationship deal.

The spotlight episodes made sure that everyone got some time in the sun, except perhaps Zayto whose spotlight stuff was usually overshadowed by the Rafkon plot.

Also, Izzy and Fern are absolutely adorable.

The supporting cast were also pretty good - Pop Pop never outstayed his welcome, I loved Ollie's mom, and even the Buzzblast team managed to fall onto the right side of annoying-but-endearing. J-Borg4lyfe. And Solon! I love Solon so much.

Sixth Ranger Arc - 2

I can't really help it, but I just didn't like Aiyon at all. He always seemed to learn the same lessons about not being selfish or over-confident and then forgetting them as the plot required. Plus he didn't feel like he added anything to the whole Rafkon plot that Zayto didn't already contribute.

Plot Development - 4.5

Yeah, very solid stuff here. I was worried when they introduced Lord Zedd, but even that managed to become part of the main plot as well when he attacked Rafkon for himself (plus he's likely the big bad for Cosmic Fury too so it's nice to get that seeded here).

The Void Knight - Void King - Void Queen stuff was also solid, and even though most of us guessed the whole reveal, I didn't see them being Rafkonians coming, so there was one last twist to keep us on our toes.

Plus Dino Fury felt really connected to the Power Rangers universe as a whole, much like Beast Morphers did, with the little nods to other teams, as well as the Beast Morphers actually showing up, and Mick from Ninja Steel as well. I like my cohesive universes.

Oh, and having the Morphin' Masters playing a bigger role in the series was a great choice. We love a stupid 'A Wizard Did It' retcon in this house.

Villains - 4

Void Knight/Void King and Void Queen were excellent, exactly the kind of scenery chewing that I like in my villains, plus it doesn't hurt that they did a face turn for Tarrick not once, but twice, and that Jared Turner's hot.

Mucus also managed to be stupid without driving me mad, and I fucking love Slyther. Campbell Cooley slayed that dude's voice so well.

I wasn't a big a fan of reusing all the old villains over and over as I thought I would be - I thought having them come back around would make them more interesting, but they were mostly just the same over and over. I did enjoy Wreckmate, though.

Overall - 3.5

Hottest Ranger - Tarrick doesn't technically count but Javi is a very close second.

maybe it’s me being forgetful and dumb, but what tf was the meramera armor key (the armor used in episode 11) just doing in some mansion?

like i’m pretty sure since they came from another planet, all known keys were brought with the original dino fury rangers to earth and stored in the base, and that zayto and/or solon would have knowledge of it. tbf i guess it has been a while, so they could have forgotten about it, although solon recognized the zord, so i wonder why there was no incentive to search for the armor key.

i don’t feel the key would be “owned” by someone like the ranger keys, and i assume the key system functions similar to how it is in gokaiger (where you think of the key you want and it appears in the belt buckle), so why wouldn’t it be returned to base after it was use?

how did void knight know about the location of this key and the green and black keys?

that also raises the question of why the green and black keys were sealed in the orb, although i feel like you could chalk that up to green and black lasting longer than zayto (after he’d been sealed) and sealing them in there, not having access to the base for... reasons.

Forgiveness\Pteradon Champion Zord

Pairing: Izzy Garcia x (FemKnight!)Reader

Summary: It follows a girl: Y/N Y/L/N, who currently owns the "Pteradon Champion Zord", along with its DinoSoul Key, who is currently a Professional Box Fighter. The youngest ever to be a pro. What she doesn't know is that she is a direct descendant of the supposed Mythical "DinoSoul" Tribe. [Equivalent to the Ryusoul Tribe]. Her partner, she calls him, "buddy" as she doesn't have a proper name for him. The two of them embark on a journey to figure out who she is, finding an old flame and developing a new crush in the process.

Warnings: Slight heartache

You tap your foot against the floor, waiting for Izzy to show up. Javi called you not even an hour before; saying that he was going to treat Izzy out to breakfast but told you to step in for him as he got a 'last minute call in' for a BuzzBlast report he was tasked with. You thanked him and immediately made you way to where he was going to meet her.

"What are you doing here Y/N?" A familiar voice calls to you

You look up and see Izzy, her face reading confusion mixed with annoyance.

"Javi got a last minute call in for a BuzzBlast report," you explain, "So he asked me to treat you out instead."

"Weird," she sighs, "Well, I have barely have any time for this-"

"Izzy wait," you sigh, immediately standing up and catching her hand in yours

"What?" She asks

"Why don't I take you somewhere else so I can explain, privately," you suggest

"Fine," she sighs, "You have one hour."

Still having her hand in yours you make your way out of the diner and out to your vehicle; a Forest Green 2001 Ford F 150 XLT. It was run down but it got you wherever you needed to go. You open the passenger side door for her, trying to show her that you really like her.

"Why thank you my knight in shining armor," she smiles

You sigh in relief, you accepted the fact she now says that every time you do something chivalrous for her. You hop into the driver's seat and begin driving to one of your favorite spots you like to be in whenever you wanted to be alone.

Once you arrived there, you again, open the passenger side door for her and hold her hand, leading her to a cliffside, a bench overlooking the ocean. You and Izzy seat yourselves and take the view all in until you look over and notice Izzy beginning to shiver. You take off your jacket and put it around her. Not knowing what to do next, you just look back out to the ocean.

"Amelia wanted me to tell you she wants to apologize to you the next time you see her," you break the silence, "She processed the whole situation and felt guilty for what she did. We talked it over and we both agreed she wouldn't do that again, let alone become jealous."

"Does she now?" Izzy asks, monotonous

"Listen," you sigh, scratching the back of your head, "What happened between Amelia and I- we used to date when we were in high school together. However, she broke up with me near the end of sophomore year; I was recruited to train to become a professional box fighter. She feared we would barely have time to see each other, so broke up with me to not suffer the pain of barely seeing each other. But, I guess it donned on her that she wasn't fully over me."

"And you?" She asks, "Are you over... Her?"

"100% yeah," you answer immediately, "I began liking another girl, though I've only known her a couple of weeks to a month, she's one of the best people I've ever met."

"Do I possibly know her?" Izzy asks, having a hunch on who it is

"Try looking in the mirror," you say

You sat back into the bench to let her process what you told her. You look out to the ocean to avoid Izzy’s eye contact out of fear of being rejected once more. Her arm begins slinging around your neck as she makes your head to turn to look at her. You notice how she was the first time the two of you kissed. You could easily see her contagious smile creep across her face.

"Guess that answers my question," Izzy laughs

The two of you were about to lean into each other for a kiss before the both of your communicators go off.

"They really need to stop interrupting us," you say, sighing, but in a joking manner

Izzy let's out a giggle as she gives you a cheek kiss right as you answer your communicator.

"A sporix beat is located near where you guys are, we're on our way right now." Zayto explains

"Okay," you sigh

"We'll keep him busy," Izzy adds

You turn off your communicator and begin running towards the direction of where the sporix beast is located.

"Link to Morphin' Grid," Izzy says as she morphs

"Ryusoul Change!" You say as you morph

You launch yourself into the air, taking Izzy's hand to have her fly with you rather than her catch up to you.

"Can't wait to drain the earth's entire ocean!" The sporix beast says excitedly

"Think again fish brain!" You say, launching Izzy for the initial attack

The sporix beast stumbles back when Izzy slashes him.

"Who the heck are you two?!" He asks, stumbling to stand back up

"Glad you asked," you joke, "We're the ones who will stop you from... Whatever it is.. You're doing."

Before you could really get into the fight, everyone else shows up. With Zayto jumping into the front.

"T-Rex Fury, Red Ranger!" He announces

"Ankylo Fury, Pink Ranger," Amelia announces

"Tricera Fury, Blue Ranger," Ollie announces

"Tiger Fury, Green Ranger," Izzy announces

"Stego Fury, Black Ranger," Javi announces

"翼の騎士, リュソウルシアン!" You announce, not knowing any other role call except your own [Translation: "The Winged Knight, Ryusoul Cyan!"]

"Dino Fury Power!" The core 5 Rangers say

"せいぎつかいえる,いっぽんのつるぎ!" you say, making a knight-like stance [Translation: "The Single Blade that is pledged to Justice!"]

You follow the rangers into battle as Void Knight appears. He raises his blade at Amelia. You hold your blade on its blunt side as his connected with yours.

"I got him!" You yell, "Go! おれの騎士を見せてある!!" You add [Translation: "I'll show you my Chivalry!]

You lift his blade away from you and slash at his armor. You could see the deep slash you made in his armor and you swore you saw cloth on the inside. IT was... Navy, just like your dad’s before he left on some kind of mission, desappearing.

"You really pack a punch kid," Void Knight, he teleports back to his base

You stand there.... You remember those words when your dad used to get knocked back whenever you were play-fighting with him when you were 4.

"Wow, you really pack a punch kid," he says, patting you on your head, "Maybe you'll be a great DinoSoul Knight when you're older."

Then it hit you. DinoSoul... Ryusoul... We're you...

"Y/N!!" Izzy calls out to you, snapping out of your daze as a Hengemen hit you in the head with the butt of their weapon

You slash them, without your body, with he exception of your right arm, flinching. You turn to Izzy who just came up to you.

"You okay?" She asks, placing her hand on your waist

"Yeah-yeah I'm fine," you sigh, meeting back up with the other rangers

The sporix beast suddenly grows; beginning to absorb the water.

"Leave this to me guys," you say, taking out your Ryusoul, "Bud!"

You see him flying around the corner, letting out a battle cry.

"Ryusoul Gattai!" You and your partner yell, throwing your Ryusoul to him

You launch yourself into the air, emerging into your zord, that transforms into a giant winged mech.

"Yokuryu-Oh!" The both of you announce

"Whoa," Izzy says, breathlessly, "This is really her zord?"

"I've never heard of a Pteradon Champion Zord," Zayto says, "Solon, can you do some research on Y/N Y/L/N's zord?"

"I'm already on it," She says

"Okay partner, let's do this!" You tell him

The sporix beast sends out beams to shoot at you however, using your ice abilities, you freeze them, slashing and kicking at them; letting them disintegrate.

"Yokuryu-Oh, Blizzard Storm!" You call out

Your partner launches the both of you up into the air. His head; that's attached to his chest, lets out a freezing breath, freezing the area of water the sporix beast is standing. However, it doesn't phase the sporix beast as it shoots out another beam. You and your partner raise the "Claw-Shield" and it bounces right back at the sporix beast; falling over into the water.

"Yokuryu-Oh, Blizzard Claw Strike!" You yell out your final move, moving your arm out in front of you; the claw-shield piercing through the sporix beast

The powered-up sporix lands in front of Zayto before mucus could get it.

"Hey! That's mine!" Mucus says, pointing at the sporix

You emerge from your zord and slash at Mucus who falls back.

"Not anymore," You laugh triumphantly

You land between the rangers and mucus, ready to fight him if need be.

"Not you again!" Mucus says before teleporting away

You de-morph and watch your partner shrink back into his egg form and fly over to you. In that moment, Izzy runs over to you and immediately wraps her arms around your midsection, giving you a tight hug; you return the same thing. The other rangers catching up with the two of you.

"That was some fight out there buddy," You smile at him whilst still holding Izzy in your arms

"Why are you complimenting me?" He asks, "It was all your moves after all Carly. When we fight together, my soul merges with yours. So I technically follow your every move."

"Come on buddy I was trying to be emotional about this one," You laugh it off

"I see the both of you kissed and made up?" Javi asks, noting how Izzy was still clinging onto your midsection

Your cheeks flush after you felt her lips gently touch your cheek.

"Izzy, you got a minute?" Amelia asks

She nods and the two of them walk a distance away from the rest of the team.

"Listen," Amelia starts, "I really want to apologize for what happened the other day. Seeing Carly again had made me realize that-"

"Your feelings for her never really went away," Izzy finishes, "And you weren't 100% over her either. It's okay Amelia."

"The truth is too," Amelia adds, "When I see her being around you, she looked... So happy. Happier than she ever was with me and it-it made me jealous."

Izzy instantly gives Amelia a hug; Amelia returning it as well.

"Do me a huge favor and take good care of Carly for me okay?" Amelia asks

"I promise," Izzy smiles

After the fact, you join the rangers in their outing to another one of Izzy's competitions. You haven't been to one in a couple of weeks.

"You know, before I decided to become a pro-boxer, I actually wanted to be a musician," You tell Javi, "Well, in my free time, I'd pick up my instrument and self teach. I can give you some pointers if you ever want to learn guitar."

"That'd be great!" Javi smiles

You watch Izzy as she begins prepping herself for her race. She looks away and spots you; You give her a big smile and a wink like you did at her first competition you attended.

Seems like a Broken Aesop yet also sums up Power Rangers in essence. :/

Izzy is training for a big race against her greatest rival, some... Asian girl. Seriously, we don’t even get a name for her competition. We do get a name for her cousin and coach, Lily, somebody who I suppose has Asperger Syndrome as well as her New Zealand Accent intact. Mind you, I don’t know for such since I’m on the high functioning end of the spectrum so I dunno if I’m a good judge. :/

I can say that I appreciate the way Lily was handled in terms of not making the conflict be about her disability. I know that Tokenism is a concern but it never feels as though she’s a “special character” so to speak. Credit where it’s due for portraying this group fairly respectably compared to other media in the past.

Solon deduces that the Tiger Claw Zord and Stego Spike Zord are nearby where the Nephrite Orb was discovered but need a device to hone in on them far better. All the while, Jane and J-Borg are at the park showing children public safety around Sporix with an admittedly catchy jingle for the Ranger hotline too.

It’s corny but I still like that this season has the enemy as a legit public concern to the point that PSAs are given out about them. I feel like that should be played with like with parodies of YouTube videos ranting about Sporix. Wait... a threat to the public that’s spread out thin and can attack within close proximity?

I’m not saying that this predicted CO-VID but...

A Sporix hatches in front of the kids as the Jays urge them to keep calm... until Mucus and Boomtower come to collect Brineblast. I feel like they should’ve screamed, “Panic!” like it’s a Spongebob cartoon. The Rangers arrive in time so they can show off Izzy and Javi’s full morphing sequence. I feel like they should’ve taken the roll call from the more dynamic Ryusoulger in this regard.

Speaking of Ryusoulger, Amelia and Ollie are preoccupied with the Hengemen while Izzy steps it up with Zayto in order to take on Brineblast using Boost Keys. Javi gets into a row with Boomtower with sharp reflexes in using a Shield Key when he’s too close to dodge a blast. Mucus hangs back to hear about the Rangers seeking out the Tiger Claw Zord and reports right back to Void Knight.

Izzy finds Lily to be a no-show due to helping a friend shop at the last minute and decides to rely on herself to prepare for the upcoming race. Of course, we later learn that Lily’s friend broke her leg and needed to get things all the way on the top shelf. Once again, I do like they opted to not have Lily’s disability be the reason why Izzy’s all fed up but rather something neurotypicals can bungle.

Void Knight discovers a map in Area 62′s archives that indicates that they found metallic readings under the Earth they couldn’t identify, pointing to a fossilized Zord. Brineblast is sent back out to distract the Rangers by going giant while Mucus and Boomtower drill down to destroy the Zord with a bomb.

Warden Garcia encourages Izzy that she’s not the best if she’s not winning. Stepfather of the year everybody! Okay, obviously this isn’t an attitude that’ll stick as tends to be with most Power Rangers parents but all the same, yeesh. In any case, Izzy starts the race along the mountain where her Zord is likely laying. Soon, she will settle her rivalry against whats-her-face once and for all.

The Jays set up posters for the Ranger Hotline when Brineblast reaches his giant stage. The ladies dive into the dumpster and roll down the hill while ringing up the Rangers. I feel J-Borg should scoop up Jane and head for the hills Scooby-Doo style. Dumpsters are so Victor and Monty. Also am I the only one who has just realized that J-Borg sounds a lot like Tensou from Megaforce?

Izzy tries to finish the race before joining the Rangers in the Megazord until her rival trips and falls down a slope. Even with a strong lead, she stops to help the competition in the usual wholesome Power Rangers move. It even gets her to think about Lily’s talk about how sometimes there’s more than only just winning.

It also gets her to discover Mucus and Boomtower drilling a bomb down to her Zord and causing her to spring into action on the double. In order to avoid losing out on her giant robot death cat, she gets the Megazord to bring the battle with Brineblast over to the mountain where they can free it “accidentally.”

Thus the Tiger Claw Zord escapes the explosion just in time and gives Brineblast a run for his money. Hell, it even does a Matrix Bullet Time Dodge. Say what you will about how the design might seem too toyetic even for Toku but the XFX artists are clearly doing damn well with the assets they are given.

We also see that Izzy’s Zord can interface with the current Megazord, swapping out some of Zayto’s components for her own with a thrusting finisher to boot. Not so sweet is Boomtower collecting the now dormant Brineblast for Void Knight’s secret weapon. I still like how the villains can technically win despite losing their monster. It keeps them from not feeling ineffective until they aren’t.

Izzy finishes up the race as Warden Garcia concedes that she did good by helping out a racer in need. She even reconciles with Lily as well. Meanwhile, our intrepid duo get a ticket for recklessly driving a dumpster into a police car. I’m guessing this is the shtick: white women and their robots be ackin’ cray-cray.

sorry i’m going to complain how they do nothing with javi

i feel like everyone has a notable moment throughout the series so far

zayto 2x08 with void knight/tarrick + the (maxeyusoul red power up)

ollie destroyed a fucking national landmark (aka) 1x21

amelia is pretty much the focus of the last two episode (which i guess hasn’t happened yet, but we kind of know where it’s going because episode descriptions)

izzy in episode 13 setting a milestone for the franchise + that plot line’s consistency

like what does javi do? get yelled at by his dad for having an innocuous hobby, then gets shafted for like 16 episodes, then everything is fine?

there’s really no diversity with what they do with javi. izzy gets sports/school/romance. ollie has tech/his mom/romance. amelia her job/romance/finale shit. arguably zayto and aiyon also don’t get much diversity (well zayto moreso), but i wouldn’t say their entire character is confined to rafkon.

sure javi also works at buzzblazt, but it’s barely a part of his character, unlike amelia who has a goal being there. it was relevant in episode 1x15 only to serve to show how ollie is an asshole (and kind of gold ranger foreshadowing, but again, it was more of the akana’s investigating that).

im sorry. i had so much hope for this character only to be disappointed.

DINO FURY RUMORS + IF I BELIEVE THEY ARE TRUE

So here is the complete list of rumors that leaked today. Take these with a grain of salt

red : highly unlikely

yellow : possible (wouldn’t be surprised or rule it out)

green : highly likely or pretty much confirmed

Lord Zedd invades Grid Battleforce and gets his Staff 💚 — Commander Shaw has already been confirmed to be returning, so there’s a likelihood that that box of “legendary” items will make a return.

Zayto gets a new alien Rafkon power up 💚 — Probably MaxRyusoul red equiv. as it does resemble void knights design, which zayto is familiar with.

Green Morphin master is in charge of prime universe 💛 — Because there have been multiple universes in pr, it does explain why they’re the only ones making consistent appearances.

Lord Zedd returns to the moon palace ❤️ — So with a lot of the more mmpr connected things, I only put them as not very likely because I feel like it would cost a lot to try and recreate everything.

We have a clip show halfway into season 2 💚 — There are clip shows every season, is anyone shocked?

The villains of PR have a villains database just like the Rangers have a Ranger database 💚 — Wasn’t there one in Beast Morphers? Pretty much confirmed, but even then, I'm sure one is going to be present cause doesn’t the rangers’ database have info on villains. They could hack their data.

Dino Fury rangers get trapped in the dark dimension in one episode to fight MOTW 💚 — I'm sure they’re something from Ryusoulger that can be interpreted as a dark dimension. But also, having a dark version of something isn’t that new to pr. Dark energems, dark power stars (although lasted like one ep i think), dark robo knight, etc.

Lord Zedd creates "NEW" Dark Rangers that look exactly like the Dino Fury suits but different shade 💛 — Again, having a dark version of something isn’t out of the ordinary, so I say it’s possible.

Amelia's dad is Void Knight 💛 — See, I’m sure it’s true, but a small part of me just doesn’t buy it. It’s pretty much a one sided relationship (in that nothing from void knight so far would indicate family other than Santurna). And I feel like Amelia looking for her parents or clues of their disappearance would be a bigger part of her story, but all her focus ep’s were filler (even 11 is 80% filler)

Void Knight's girlfriend turns into a monster 💛 — I could see it, could happen we still have Pricious’ counterpart to get to, even Eras. I’ve also seen they’re adapting Madame Noir[‘s design] from ToQger, sooo.. maybe that’s why?

Lord Zedd is holding the other morphin masters captive in blue Zordon esque energy tubes 💛 — I have no comment.

Izzy's girlfriend makes another appearance 💚 — Power Rangers doesn’t suddenly drop established relationships, and I doubt they’d drop Izzy’s (cause it’d be noticeable and look bad for them).

General Shaw returns to brief the rangers on a secret plan 💚 — Pretty much confirmed Commander Shaw is coming back, and if we’re going with the Zedd steals his staff back, I’d say it’s likely Grid Battleforce would play a role in retaliation.

There is going to be fight footage with all 6 MMPR ranger suits (I am guessing w/Zedd) 💛 — I mean, they do have them from last years crossover, so.. possibly.

Dino Fury rangers travel to Eltar with a portal machine; Portal Machine gets destroyed by MOTW ❤️ — combining these cause I don’t have much to say on this either.

Dino Fury rangers travel to the moon using a Rafkon spaceship 💛 — I think it's either be this or the portal machine, I doubt they’d do both.

Villains will get a new base ❤️ — I don’t see why they’d change (from a production perspective) and if they did it’d probably be subtle differences over a whole new set (unless they do end up going to the moon..)

still not thrilled with the jane/j-borg stuff. i mean today, it wasn’t unbearable, but definitely still not my cup of tea.

im interested in the garcia family dynamic. i have a couple of theories on how the dynamic came to be, but am having trouble fleshing them out atm. but it’s odd to me the warden is so adversed to music, but not sports. like, in terms of carer prospects, they’re both hard industries to break into (without connections), but once you get that momentum, you can become very successful. maybe it’s a personal thing he takes out on javi? well, this won’t be the last time this dynamic is focused on.

has power rangers ever done a plot where a parent/child are at adversity with each other? i know lightspeed, but that was because of brainwashing. i guess devon in beast morphers it the closest, but this one feels different. idk

i have mixed feelings on the main plot. i like it because i can relate a lot to it, but the climax was weak.

i finally realized my problem with this episode after reading this tweet : javi never opens up. zayto, ollie, and amelia find out the problem through a video, which kind of negates the point of the episode. we know javi is more quiet and reserved, and (from personal experience), opening up is a struggle (for a variety of reasons, usually situational). the thing is, the flaw of his character was never challenged as he didn’t have to confront his problem, the video did it for him. instead of having the scene of javi after izzy gets hurt, i think it should’ve been him actually opening up instead.

speaking of that scene after izzy got hurt, when i first saw it in the teaser, i was kind of upset because i thought it would take the focus away from javi. i think it actually worked well, but i don’t think it was necessary (at least for this episode). i know they are trying to establish that there is tension between javi and his dad, but i think that has been established enough up to this point, that the scene could’ve been replaced with something more relevant to this episode (like javi actually opening up to zayto, ollie, and amelia). it’s not like it was out of place or anything, but this scene is pretty “generic” in that it could’ve been placed in another episode (where relevant) and still make sense. the only thing that it added was javi pushing away the team, which is important to the plot, but has been established already.

edit : i think this episode was better at balancing all the characters. of course the episode was javi centric, but the others were still actively present.

i think that’s it. i think im upset this episode didn’t hit because i was really looking forward to it, and it wasn’t what i expected. that’s kind of my problem, i guess. anyway, i would like to conclude with this tweet i found that isn’t mine

power rangers dino fury episode 6 : superstition strikes thoughts

it’s rant o’clock (don’t worry, there’s a good mix of positive/negative + some other broad discussion points)

i really like mucus, which is surprising since i never really have any investment in the villains.

speaking of villains, what exactly is void knights plan (or do we not know?). like usually in the first episodes they’re like “i want to take over the world” or whatever, iirc, void knight just said he wanted the sporix.

where did zayto get the hat?

something about this episode and last weeks (moreso last weeks) is that the characters who the episode isn’t about are pretty “nonexistent.” idk, maybe i’m just noticing it now, but last week i didn’t know if amelia had any speaking lines out of the suit (she did). i guess that’s kind of the point, since they’re not the main focus of the episode, but for comparison sake, a lot of dino charges focus episodes still had the core cast actively doing something alongside the focus character. in 1x09, it was a riley focused episode, yet each other character had a small individual moment. well anyway, that was more of a last week thing. it did improve this episode, but i never really talked about it. (that was long, whoops)

ngl, this was probably my least favorite of the six episodes so far, it’s not bad by any means, however, the cause of the conflict (superstition) just isn’t really my thing. (also, i’ve just been feeling ick lately b/c school sucks, so that’s probably affecting my judgement)

nevertheless, there was still a lot i like about this episode

the main ‘lesson of the day’ was surprisingly topical (which i hate /j)

there was no jane/jborg

i like how they didn’t make ollie a complete d*ck to amelia. a lot of their dynamic comes from their disagreements and there was a lot of opportunity to make his disagreement worse and/or make him cross some line. and even though they have their differences, it’s clear they still care about each other, which is nice to see.

im going to be a b*tch for a second, but if ollie is so smart, why didn’t he take the bucket off his head 😔. like don’t get me wrong, it was hilarious, but like it wasn’t stuck to his head.

when izzy called javi’s line cringe :((( (because i would’ve done the same thing lol)

i liked the villains plan this episode and i like how they somewhat succeeded. it was actually smart.

y’know, some people say power rangers needs to stop being like it was in the 90′s because “time has changed,” but then are upset when power rangers adapts things from today? like ill admit, some of gen z “culture”/trends are cringey, but like so was some of the sh*t in the early seasons that have become outdated or are just straight up cringey. at the end of the day, it’s a show for kids, and that stuff (for the most part) appeals to kids. (ill probably make a more in depth post on this topic)
