The Architect by @moss-and-marimos vs The Scholar by @starrysundae - round 1 set 1

The Architect- Description:

The architect is a modified survivor slugcat, and so the amount of food pips would be similar to survivor but at least some of them would be required to be carnivorous. This is in order to sustain the energy output used by the slugcat's special ability, this being that they can weld things with their hands. They also have more physical strength than survivor and would most likely do 2 spear damage instead of one. This is in part because they are able to weld spears together to make them larger and more powerful, as well as helping the player to move around the map more easily. They would be bad at swimming, but because of this ability are able to more easily traverse terrain requiring more complicated parkour.

Story:

The Architect is a purposed organism made by Sewn Ends In Lilacs (one of my iterator ocs) to repair an ancient iterator that she found out about. This other iterator was built so early on that the ancients didnt know how huge of an issue the rains would be, and so was built without a retaining wall. Because of this, his structure is falling apart from beneath and around him, and is a similar state to moons in canon, though more overgrown rather than flooded. The course of the campaign if it was actually a game would be traveling from Lilacs' can to the can of Digital Dandelions, the broken down iterator, to repair his puppet and bring it back online, and then to connect communications between him and lilacs. Though this likely wouldnt be a part of the actual game, the architect would then focus on the long task of repairing and updating DD's structure.

The Scholar- Description:

They are slower than average on land and slightly faster than rivulet in the water, they also have limited breath above the water (about 45-65 seconds). They have bioluminescence and the ability to to read pearls and store up to 5 pearls in their stomach.

Story:

They’re just a silly guy who wanders the world in search of knowledge and their lost friend, who happened to run into an iteratior who gave them the ability to read pearls. (btw their campaign takes place just when five pebbles starts to collapse)

Fun facts:

they can’t ascend for reasons I will not specify :)

Oooh, *knuckle crack* here we go. We’re gonna do some bullet points so it’s not too long of a post. Also I’m definitely taking “falling” into literal context. For shits and giggles of course.

Read below the cut!

Geralt

- knowing your luck you probably fall into Geralt while he’s out on a contract.

- He’s out in Skellige, on the outskirts of a coastal town, taking care of a siren nest that got built a little too close. When your dumb ass falls from the sky with a burst of purple energy He hadn’t seen before.

- you fell into the cold ocean water amidst all the fighting, floundering as you were NOT prepared for this. NO SIR, you were reading a book about the Witcher. “Ah, how nice it would be to live in a world like that you whispered.” And GODS BE DAMNED, ONE OF THEM MUST HAVE HEARD YOU.

- after all the threats are taken care of, Geralt helps you further into shore, and wraps you in a spare tunic. His medallion barely hums, left overs from whatever magic must have brought you here. But you seemed human, so no threat there.

- He sounds irritated (as always) but agrees to help you find your way home and help you establish yourself. He swears you’re from Toussiant, based on your... funny clothes for the time period, but no judgement there. You explain to him that you have no home and so he agrees to watch over you for the season, little did he know you would both get too attached to be separated come winter.

Eskel

- With Eskel, you had been feeling rather downtrodden that evening, the world was not going your way and it felt lonely the more you delt with things by yourself. “why couldn’t i have led a simpler life?” you said whistfully, eyes glancing to your Desktop game TW3. “ah, what I wouldn’t give-”

- You didnt have time to finish before you were literally dropped on a broad shouldered man setting up camp in the woods.

- “OOF, FUCK” you yelled, you were definitly gonna have a stiff back tomorrow. and oh... hello... you know this face.

- Eskel is Bewildered because some lady just fell on him in the middle of the woods? but also by your groan of pain he figured you didn’t do this of your own accord. after carefully rolling you off him he tended to any wounds you might have.

- Ever the gentleman, Eskel is, that when you explain that you have nowhere to go he happily offers to let you ride with him until you find a place that you think you’d like to settle down.

- Little did he realize that He was exactly where you’d like to stay. Always.

Lambert

- You appear in the witcher world in what you thought was a dream at first, but the way that the soft moss of the forest floor comes up and slams into your face as you fall into the middle of the woods says other wise. “Fuck that hurt...”

- Lambert, who had been out hunting for dinner around the keep, spied you fall from no where and land with a thud in the moss and pine needles.Quickly riding over on horseback he peers down at you for a bit, making sure you were no threat.

- “What you’re not gonna help a fucking lady up? Rude.” you shunned him and he instantly knew what love was. He led you back to the keep to make sure you were alright and had a place to stay for the coming winter.

- Lambert made sure to bother you all the time then, just so he could hear your snarky remarks back at him. Didn’t stop you from making your own quips and bothering him back though.

- from then on, despite you two relentlessly bothering each other every day, you were inseparable and spent the whole winter together, even heading out on the path together from then on.

Yet Another Zelda Roleswap (the masterpost)

✨what's this AU?

✨in this au, the previous legends about the triforce are the same, aka “zeldas are princesses links are heroes and ganon/ganondorf is always the same guy and the big bad”! BUT THIS TIME DESTINY DID AN OOPSIE and ganondorf forgot all about his previous lives while link is the one who remembers them all!!! zelda just wants to travel and read cool legends and didnt expect to be part of one

✨ZELDA STUFF

-trans girl, found the name zelda in very very very old royal records

-she's like 16 or something

-seventh heir to the throne who wants to prove herself, so she goes on an adventure to save the world!!!!

-adventurous and impulsive and naive

-main weapon is bows, she also knows magic and sheikah techniques

-has six siblings who dont really pay attention to her. shes probably the youngest

-her point of view is very black and white at first

-even when she gets in the middle of link and ganon’s story she still doesn’t believe she is The Zelda of legend

-how could she she’s just a zelda, one among many, just a kid playing at being a princess

-(she IS the zelda)

-she gets a bird AND a white horse!!!!

-if she sees a weird cave she WILL go into it

-would probably eat moss if dared

✨LINK STUFF

-genderfluid, uses he/they

-hes in his early twenties

-a man zelda meets during her travels, who seems to know a lot about old legends

-he can see koroks and fairies, who can’t be seen by most people

-gets all his past lives' memories after he gets the master sword, over a period of a day or two

-maybe link does remember his past deaths along with his past lives, but past deaths are maybe more muted…. less like he experienced them and more like someone told him about it. still fucks him up tho

-i feel like he’d be pretty nice and sleepy all the time, until you mention something that has to do with his memories (aka, ganondorf, but also like “oh ive heard some hero in the legends went back to being a kid to save the world or whatever) and he’d get this super serious, focused look… something like that, little things that would make zelda go :^?

-he just really wants to kill ganondorf ya dig

-SO MANY BOSS FORMS probably one per main title (kinda like xant’s battle in TP) (strongest/hardest to fight is majora’s mask link), and final form is definitely some twisted looking fierce deity

-as for his past selves he has all of their memories and its kind of… they’re not him, he’s him, they’re just memories that he has, but when he is very very stressed its “memories become actual personalities for a sec” time. 99% of the time its just him and then ganondorf is there and its like WILL EVERYONE SHUT UP IM TRYING TO MAKE A MURDER HERE

-he’s not controlled by malice or anything because it would feel like a deus ex machina to me

-in the end he doesnt die and he gets redemption because he didnt hurt anyone he just tried to kill ganondorf a few times hes good, and also zelda is his friend and an heir to the throne he’s got immunity. poor guy just needs help processing all those lives and needs a cabin in the woods with some fairies!!!

-re: his past lives, oot link SUPER HATES ganondorf while ww link is more sympathetic. links who havent fought ganondorf are ambivalent about him

-endgame ship is either with ganondorf OR beedle. beedle is the secret ending

-will eat moss

✨GANONDORF STUFF

-he's in his twenties i promise he just has resting old man face

-zelda’s old childhood friend

-doesn’t remember anything about his past lives

-gerudo king, very serious but fairly well loved

-lets not talk about malice it either doesnt exist/this ganondorf doesnt have any/this ganondorf knows how to control it. either way its not gonna affect the story

-”what are you wearing today king” “oh, just whatever” (its not whatever he spent hours finding the day’s outfit)

-found out about his past lives while reading a very very very old book, probably read it and stayed in his room for a week and then promised himself to never ever ever turn out like that

-genuinely a good person

-would never eat moss

✨RELATIONSHIPS STUFF

-zelda and ganondorf actually knew each other as kids! Both being royalty and all. legends do talk about a hero a princess a beast or whatever but don’t use link or ganondorf’s names since it’s been so long- it takes zelda and ganondorf both finding old, old books on their own to be like “AH OOPS”!!! Ganondorf learns about his past lives much earlier than zelda, who finds out during her adventures, and she goes from seeing ganondorf as a dear friend to being like “…but what if he’s really bad though”

they’re old childhood friends, you know, the kind that were best friends before and then grew up and saw each other less often (different kingdoms and all) so they kinda grew apart, and then zelda starting her quest made them reconnect again! Ganondorf is a little older than zelda so he always saw her more as his little sister who just jumps into mud because she totally saw a sword there i promise, and zelda sees ganondorf as her cool older brother who actually pays attention to her, unlike her actual siblings

-when link and zelda meet, zelda’s like “weird dude but probably harmless” and link is like “weird girl but probably harmless” and then she’s like “oh my name is zelda” and link goes “ah just likeWAIT” and he kinda observes her to… gauge her abilities? My Zeldas Were Better kinda thing. i guess during their final battle he’s like “you’re really a zelda, after all” and its bittersweet

the second zelda figures out link is also part of those legends she goes full hero worship mode, which makes link’s fall from grace… really… hard on her. ive been admiring you and wanting to be a hero like you all this time, turns out you’re not a hero and also Not Okay

-re ganondorf and link, after everything that happened uuuh

human brain: it probably takes them both a long while to get used to each other, given that one was almost killed by the other and the other has vivid memories of having their world(s) destroyed by the one, but after a while they probably bond over their shared uuuuh memories i guess. link visits gerudo city once in a while and they catch up and become friends and

lizard brain: after 100k words they DATE

no i wont write how it happens you will NOT make me embarrass myself in front of everyone because i earnestly wrote about how link visits ganondorf every time he’s in gerudo country and at first link just passes by to give ganondorf news about how zelda is faring as queen and news about the world, and as time goes and years go by they start talking about their lives and struggles and just taking walks across the desert together and having sand seal races and everyone in ganondorf’s court is like “so when’s that little voe coming back” and ganondorf is like “i neither know nor care that its been three months since his last visit” and everyone’s like (smirk) “okay” and when has he even started to look forward to link’s visits anyway how did this happen and then link comes back and smiles gently and shows ganondorf this cool rock he found that looks like ganondorf’s face and ganondorf is smitten

takes them both Y E A R S to realize their feelings and then date tho. slow burn or bust

✨WORLD STUFF

-takes place in a time where the games’ adventures are only known as legends where they didnt even write down ganondorf’s and link’s names

-now that im thinking about it it wouldnt happen like THOUSANDS OF YEARS after any game because then ganon and link wouldnt be that worried about their destiny??? so maybe like 100-200 years after a game??? and the ppl writing down the legends were just terrible bookkeepers who couldnt even think write down link and ganon’s name

-(smash voice) EVERYONE IS HERE!!!!!!!! tingle and agitha the bug princess and sidon and especially groose who is uuuuum zelda’s rival who is totally not in love with her

-i think in botw its implied koroks are only seen by people like link and zelda??? so id say only people with uuuuh magical power??? can see them???? so koroks are just doin their thing, playing pranks, helping people without them knowing, and, in the case of makar, playing romantic music around couples

Wandering au just so you know!!

So i came up with this au on the fly on roblox after watching waaaaaaay too much 90s moomins and listening to i believe dear fellow traveller if not that then the moss. So some clarifications should be made. All of yhe characters get to keep their canon personalities!! Yay. Asriel is withdrawn and quiet with most people when he first meets them then opens up the longer he kows you, yugo is adventurous , enjoys cooking and takes working at the restraunt pretty seriously, in general personality wise things didnt really change the characters you love and adore are pretty much the same with some added features

Yugo: collects rocks and crystals he likes and puts them in jars he stashes away in his closet. He calls them his treasure. Adamai just calls them his junk.

Hes littered in scars from too dangerous adventures and its actually uncommon to see him without bandages. He fills the role of moomintroll looking forward to every spring when his snufkin comes to wreak havoc, play games, and stay up all night telling stories.

Adamai: the responsible one out of the two really. He helps their dad with the inn as best he can. Unlike yugo though hes not that great a cook.

He like yugo has a hoard of stashed away goodies he calls his treasure, unlike yugo though its actual treasure. Precious gemstones necklaces and kammas have been stashed away only to be taken from if absolutely necessary.

He hates being ignored which is unforunate because he typically is. He plays the role of snork more often then not off doing his own thing or complaining to frisk if theyll listen. They usually do.

Amalia:

Lives by the beach and makes a habit of collecting shells and saving washed up critters. Its actually how she met chara. Tends to wander around more during the summer and packs up to go elsewhere for the winter though no one knows where she goes.

She spends most of her time with frisk when they are around which is mostly during the fall as amalia packs up to leave and frisk moves in to replace her.

Evangeline and tristepin: they fill the role of mother mymble and the joxter. They travel around the world going on dangerous adventures with their kids and dont normally stop by unless its to see amalia.

Frisk: filling the role of too-ticky they travel around following the cold winter winds helping anyone who needs it.

They are fairly close to asriel though they dont cross paths often.

Tends to be a massive flirt but ups the anti with amalia. Amalia is unsure how to feel about that.

Asriel: i wont go into much since im pretty shore ive talked about him before but,

He ran away from the dreemurrs at the age of 9 due to the ever present feeling of being trapped.

He cant decide whether the title of best friend goes to yugo or chara.

He wont admit to the attachment hes gained for yugo and even outright ignores the fact that feeling of being trapped doesnt really feel as suffocating when hes around.

He arrives in spring and leaves in fall. He as prebiously stated plays the role of snufkin perfectly.

Last one cause i gotta sleep ill do a part 2 in the morning.

Chara: loud, obnoxious, protective. Thats the beat way to describe them. They are also very intelligent having been alive for almost 100 years means they are more experienced in most things than the average land dweller. Joris is the only person theyve met that can outsmart them and they have mad respect for him because of it.

They consider joris to be their closest friend and make sureto terrorize him with bad fish puns and pick up lines to make sure he knows this fact.

Chara comes off as confident as well almost like they think they are better than everyone else. Asriel saw the real them once while he was still at home but only once, Joris on the other hand has seen chara break down, has seen them at their weakest. Joris knows chara better than anyone. Its no surprise at all that the bad pick up lines meant as a joke ended up becoming far more serious than originally intended.

Chara tends to show up in emelka randomly throughout the yearthough they mostly stick to the waters they know partially for safety as sirens are hunted when spotted as they are very dangerous and partially because joris is there.

Asriel's stories give chara miniature heartattacks so they tend to up and leave to make aure he hasnt died.

Chara doesnt like yugo much as he puts their brother in dangerous situations alot.

Ok thats it i gotta go to bed now xP ill finish this tmrrw when i have time.

So like I wrote this stuff down around September 2017 with the intention to write a fic about it (I might still do that when I have more time) but it’s just sitting and festering in my drive so I’ll put it here for now and build on it when uni is done. It’s a super long post but I did put a cut in.

There’s a whole bunch of mind vomit stuff here:

I was talking to my discord group about things that could have been added to Botw because I’d gotten to a point in the game when I’d done mostly everything and was just putting off facing Ganon because I didn’t want it to end. So I came up with gods and spirits that you might meet in random places and sometimes they have quests for you or something. Taken directly from the server:

“This isn't really a hc more a random idea but what if there were time specific places on the map in botw? Like I just found place on the side of death mountain called shadow hamlet ruins, what if you go there and it's just some ruined houses with a meteor wizzrobe in any other time but on the night of a new moon there's like creepy shadows that kinda come out of the wood work and shadows of the ruins and they don't exactly attack you but make you super uneasy and circle you a bit and it's like the people who lived and died there as a result of the calamity, like we know it corrupts the living but what if it doesn't let the dead rest either?

Like there are places all over hyrule that are just places until you visit them on a specific night or day or when certain parameters are met and you have a unique little event happen like a person you wouldn't meet any other time with items you can only get from them or maybe the dragons rest somewhere and you can just stumble across them, or more spirits and godlike beings who you wouldn't come across any other time apart from this one random spit of woodland halfway up the dueling peaks on a night where it's raining you come across an ethereal glowing woman or something who watches over the plants and mushrooms like glow like her, and you can't really interact with them because we are insignificant to them, they are so indifferent to us with our mortal comings and goings that the most we can hope for is a glimpse of them, just to make the world feel even more alive than it already does

I think Link is more aware of them because he is goddess chosen, goddess touched, and he's a gentle and pure soul who they in turn are drawn to, I like that he has a connection to them through having being dead but I personally like to think they're a bit afraid of him, he was brought back through science like magic without the godesses interference or hands, that shouldn't happen he died and by all means should have stayed dead but here he is, wandering hyrule saving people and dragons and riding gods across plains and placating giant mechanical creatures that will only listen to him, in their eyes he's a fucking monster or demon

And they know you don't piss off a demon who denied death so they're cautious but curious in equal measure”

And then neatened up and made less mind vomity:

Ruins

On specific nights- different for each ruin- the ghosts of the people who lived and died there during the calamity come out on the night they were wiped out. Different for each place depending on how close they were to castle and what the actual cause was, e.g. castle town would have been hit first and hardest by the Calamity itself so that would get spooky on the night of Zelda’s birthday every year. If they are fairly far away from the castle e.g. Shadow Hamlet ruins on the far side of Death Mountain, it would be a different night and they would feel different due to the nature of their deaths, such as being wiped out by monsters fuelled and powered by the Calamity. They don’t attack but most travellers accidentally come across them and fear for their lives saying ruins are haunted at night so they try to avoid them, preferring to go to living villages or taking their chances with monsters out on the roads or in the woods. When Link (and later Zelda) enter the ruins on the specific night they act up the spirits hiss and circle him and lament their passing in groans and wails but they do not come close because he is light and they cannot touch him. He died for them and Zelda cried for them, they are Goddess chosen and Goddess touched.

Lesser Gods and Spirits

Found all over Hyrule, again during different specific times when certain parameters are met.

A lesser Goddess who watches over plants and mushrooms that glow with the same ethereal light as her- can only be found where they grow in abundance, like the pillar in Kakariko on a rainy night during a new moon, and also conversing with Cotera the great fairy there.

I just made a membership on Storium and it looks SO EXCITING!!! Its a bit complicated and it seems my best bet might be to get some friends together and practise playing, but from what little i could learn from the vague tutorial it seems like it’d be pretty fun!

Basically its just like a writing prompts generator crossed with a roleplay forum? Like.. you work together to write a story that’s being generated by this computer. It gives you the setup and various prompts and rules and limitations to help give you ideas, and make it easier to write a collaborative project. The rules do look a bit complicated and scary tho. Also I dunno how many people you need to play a game? It would be good if you could play it with just two people! I have a lot of tumblr buddies who enjoy writing but not many of them know each other, lol. And it might be hard to think of a story that we’d all enjoy. Oh, but its really cool that they give you preset story ideas! There’s ‘worlds’ you can play in, like genre archetypes and setups that you can explore again and again with different characters to see how you could resolve it differently. There’s like ten general ones for free players, and apparantly 50 extra ones for kickstarter backers? And then they also come with like 20 sample characters per world! And they’re just summaries and a selection of stats and abilities, so you can interpret that character any way you want. I think thats the best sort of way to help fire up the ol inspiration, I mean I often suck at writing my own characters but I find it easier to make headcanons about a preexisting one. And the stat cards and stuff are so cool too! It means you’re very much restricted to keeping your character in-character by the rules of the game, and that you have to have a certain amount of strengths and weaknesses so everyone stays balanced. And reading through the stat cards can help give you inspiration when making a new character! But you can also create your own stat cards, and even play a game where everyone gets one wild card that they get to decide upon at any point during the game. A one shot chance to say you got character development in order to gain something necessary for the situation! or like ‘i always had this power and just kept it hidden’, or whatever. Thats a good way to spice things up! Oh and apparantly you cant do it in a free membership, but there are options to change the format of the story, and to let everyone take turns being the narrator instead of just having one guy be the DM. And all sorts of funky interesting stuff!! But I mean.. I could even see how you could have fun playing with just two people and one of them is the narrator. That could be cool if you’re like having a moment of no inspiration on one of your stories, you could get a friend to collab and help you decide what the character does next! I’m really excited, I hope this game lives up to my expectations!! And I hope I can find enough friends who can play and we could all work with a similar timezone and such.

And MAN I wanna try the classic cliche medieval fantasy example world first! Cos the list of characters contains like.. the villains too! I didnt even realise this game could have stuff like that!! You can play as a terrifying moss monster haunting a dungeon, and then everyone else tries to escape from you, I guess? XD Or actually if this monster character has to stick around in the plot for the whole thing, and they have to kinda travel together, maybe it could be like a story of the evil monster following these adventurers and trying to tempt them into evil or feed on their despair or just separate them and pick them off. And then everybody else is like.. they have to try and figure out that the monster is there, and figure out how to defeat it, even though the actual players would of course know right from the start. So they’d have to find an in-character way for the character to find out the stuff the player knows! OOO, or maybe it even actually COULD be a secret even to the players?? I wonder if that would be possible in this engine! like, one of the characters gets a blank character card, and the premise is that that person is the villain and everyone else has to figure out who they are. They take actions each turn but the actual identity of the character doing these villain things could be any of the heroes! (so somebody would be pulling double duty on the writing, lol) ... ...or maybe just a member of the hero group is a scary sentient moss monster. Charming and innocent mossman mcgee! The most heroic of us all!
